Charlie Rangel Wants to Re-institute the Draft
Democrat tax cheat Charlie Rangel wants to re-institute the draft. This isn’t the first time that Charlie Rangel has tried to re-institute the draft.
Republicans are likely to seize on the reintroduction of Rangel’s unpopular military draft bill. When they controlled the House in 2004, Republicans scheduled a vote on the Rangel measure, which was defeated 402-2. Reps. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and Pete Stark (D-Calif.) supported it, while Rangel voted against his own bill, claiming the GOP was playing political games.
If Republican play their cards right they should be able to make political gain on this issue. Charlie Rangel wants to reintroduce the draft because he feels the senate would never have voted to go into Iraq if there was a draft in 2002.
If a draft had been in place in 2002 when members were making the decision on whether to support the war in Iraq, Rangel has said, Congress never would have approved the war resolution, because the pressure from constituents would have been too great.
So it isn’t the Republicans who were playing games with Rangel’s bill in 2004, it was Charlie Rangel who was and is playing games with the lives of American draft age citizens.
Will President Bush Pardon Ramos and Compean?
Time is running out for Ramos and Campean, the two border patrol agents who were railroaded to prove a point by the Bush administration during Bush’s ill fated illegal amnesty granting farce. Pressure is now being stepped up on the president to do the right thing and pardon these two heroes before he leaves office.
Will president Bush pardon Ramos and Compean? I don’t think so, he is just being stubborn on this issue to prove a point. He wanted desperately to pass what he called comprehensive immigration reform but what most of America called amnesty for illegals and because it failed he is arrogantly letting these two border patrol agents rot in jail while their wives are left to try to raise their young children fatherless. And why? Because these men were protecting America’s border. Where is the justice?
The one thing that I just can’t comprehend about the president is this; how can the man who has kept America safe from enemies abroad be so ignorant to the notion that in order to keep America safe at home we need to secure the borders? I just can’t understand it. Perhaps because we haven’t been attacked since 9/11 he is justified in his logic, but I can’t accept that as proof that we should not secure the borders. Who knows who has slipped into this country over the last eight years.
The federal government granted an illegal alien, drug smuggling scumbag amnesty to travel back to the USA and testify against Ramos and Compean. Ramos and Compean were just doing their jobs trying to protect Americans from the type of person who testified against them and sent them to jail. This is appalling. There is no excuse for this disgusting injustice.
President Bush’s last official act as president of the United State should be pardoning Ramos and Compean. I implore President Bush to do the right thing. If he doesn’t, I will never forgive him. If he wants to protect American he won’t continue to punish those that try to do the same.
Where Does Barack Obama Stand on the Second Amendment Part 3
While surfing the internet this morning I came across this article on Just Americans Making Ethical Statements Weblog that I found interesting. And disturbing. Rep. Bobby Rush, an Illinois Democrat, is proposing new federal firearms licencing laws.
Among the more controversial provisions of the bill are requirements that all handgun owners submit to the federal government a photo, thumb print and mental heath records. Further, the bill would order the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer and owner’s address in America.
This bill would make owning a handgun or semi-automatic weapon illegal unless a special federal license is issued. In order to qualify for the federal licence the following will be required:
an application must be made that includes a photo, address, all previous aliases, thumb print, completion of a written firearm safety test, release of mental health records to the attorney general and a fee not to exceed $25.
Using the right to privacy argument a woman can kill an unborn baby, yet in order to practice an actual right guaranteed in the constitution I would have to give up that same right to privacy. Including doctor/patient privilege.
So where does the president-elect stand on the bill that was introduced by a Rep. from his own state? We don’t know for sure, but here is a clue:
H.R. 45 is a resurfacing of 2007’s H.R. 2666, which contained much of the same language and was co-sponsored by 15 other representatives and Barack Obama’s current chief of staff, Rahm Emmanuel.
Rahm Emanuel co-sponsored basically the same bill in 2007. One has to believe that Barack Obama shares the same opinions as his chief of staff on most if not all issues. Therefor it is not a stretch to imagine that if this bill ever made it to his desk President Obama would sign it.
Timothy Geithner Was Reimbursed For the Taxes He Refused to Pay
Every day we learn a little bit more about Timothy Geithner’s tax fraud. Yesterday president-elect Obama tried to claim that it was an honest mistake, but that is a lie. Geithner signed a paper every year that reminded him he had to pay taxes. And he still forgot? RRRIIIGGT! This was no mistake, it was deliberate tax fraud.
But today it gets better still as we learn in this story about some other paperwork that Geithner also signed-reimbursement papers.
It seems the company that Geithner worked for was reimbursing Geithner for the taxes he wasn’t paying. Funny how he remembered to file for reimbursement yet forgot to pay the taxes, huh?
This man was trying to pull a fast one on the organisation that he will now be in charge of, the IRS. This was no honest mistake, this was tax fraud. There is no way in hell that Geithner signed the papers acknowledging that he was responsible for paying his own taxes and then also signed papers to be reimbursed for those same taxes and then forgot that he had to pay those taxes. This was deliberate tax fraud.
President-elect Obama is in spin control mode and he has all too willing accomplices in the senate who are trying to downplay this scandal for fear of Obama starting out his presidency with such an embarrassment. Barack Obama’s continued support for such a criminal shows us the true character of the soon to be president.
Timothy Geithner is a tax fraud and a cheat and has no business being rewarded after committing a crime in which the average American would have lost their house, business, livelihood , and/or freedom.
Barack Obama is showing us by defending this criminal that there is still a divide between the haves and the have nots in this country, the only change that we can believe in is that who the haves are has changed.
Obama Claims That Tax Cheat Timothy Geithner Made an Honest Mistake
President-elect Obama’s choice for Treasury secretary has a couple of small problems- he had an illegal alien working for him, and he also forgot to pay $42,000 in taxes.
While I understand that hiring an illegal alien is perfectly acceptable to Obama and all of the other politicians who are willing to sell our country down the river by granting amnesty to illegal aliens, I do find it strange that the man who claimed that the rich don’t pay their fair share has no problem with Geithner not paying his fair share.
And wasn’t it vice-president-elect Biden who claimed that paying taxes was patriotic? Doesn’t he have a problem with the unpatriotic Geithner not living up to his patriotic duty? Probably not, it was an honest mistake.
The tax evasion of Timothy Geithner doesn’t seem to be a deal breaker to the senate. It sounds like the Democrats in the senate are going to follow the talking points that Obama handed them and it seems that Republicans are afraid to be branded obstructionists so they will whore themselves out to Obama’s nominee and overlook the fact that this man owed taxes up until he was nominated for Treasury secretary. This is truly disappointing. The culture of corruption lives and the Republicans don’t have the balls to say anything about it. If the situation were reversed would the Democrats afford the same luxury to the Republicans? We know the answer to that, don’t we?
As Treasury secretary Geithner will have authority over the IRS and we are supposed to believe that Geithner not paying taxes is no big deal?
For a moment let’s just pretend that the initial infraction was an honest mistake and that Geithner didn’t realize that being self employed meant that he had to pay his own taxes. It’s a stretch, but let’s try.
In 2006 the IRS notifies Geithner of his honest mistake and he pays the IRS HALF of the money he owes them.
He paid some of the taxes in 2006, after an IRS audit discovered the discrepancy for taxes paid in 2003 and 2004
But he didn’t pay the rest of the money that he owed the IRS until he was about to become Obama’s Treasury secretary and then he decided it would be politically correct for him to do so. That is no mistake any longer. Once informed of the money that he owed the IRS he refused to pay all of it. That sounds like tax evasion to me, not an honest mistake any longer.
But was it ever an honest mistake in the first place. He claims he didn’t realize that while working for the International Monetary Fund as an outside contractor that he had to pay his own taxes, but is that the case?
But the Finance Committee, in 30 pages of documents released on Tuesday, noted that the IMF issues several clear guidelines each year for its employees detailing their responsibility to pay all their self-employment taxes, and that Geithner had signed annual statements saying that he would do so.
He signed papers promising to pay his own taxes and he didn’t pay. This was not an honest mistake, this was tax fraud and now he is going to have authority over the IRS. What a country. This is a middle finger directed at me and you, this is a middle finger directed at the American taxpayer. This man should have ended up in jail and now he is being rewarded.
I suppose he will fit right in, after all the man who writes the tax laws, Charlie Rangel, is also a tax cheat.
This is the change that we can believe in?
Obama’s Treasury Secretary Forgot to Pay Taxes
Here we go again, another Obama cabinet nominee wrapped up in a controversy. I will go through the list one more time.
- Hillary Clinton’s appointment to Secretary of State is unconstitutional.
- Rahm Emanuel had 21 conversations with Blagojevich about Obama’s senate seat that was up for sale.
- Bill Richardson resigned his cabinet nomination in disgrace becaus he is involved in his own pay to play scheme.
The list seems to grow every day and here is the latest controversy surrounding a Barack Obama cabinet nominee. President-elect Obama’s nominee for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, has not one, but two little problems. He forgot to pay taxes, and he hired an illegal immigrant. While I am sure Obama doesn’t have any problem with Geithner hiring an illegal alien, after all he is for amnesty for illegals, he surely must have a problem with Geithner not paying taxes. After all the one thing that we know about Obama is that he loves taxes.
In what has to be an embarrassing turn of events for the president-elect Timothy Geithner’s confirmation hearing was put on hold.
Timothy Geithner didn’t pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for several years while he worked for the International Monetary Fund, and he employed an immigrant housekeeper who briefly lacked proper work papers.
Those issues, and a series of other tax matters, caused the postponement Tuesday of Mr. Geithner’s confirmation hearing as Treasury secretary.
One has to wonder between Bill Richardson and Timothy Geithner if Barack Obama is properly vetting his appointments. Is he even looking into these people that he entrusting the future of our country to or is cronyism the deciding factor in his appointments?
Barack Obama has shown a stunning lack of judgement in several of his cabinet appointments, including a man with no experience heading the CIA and also a television doctor as Surgeon General, and this is coming from a man who ran on his judgement.
This is just the beginning.
Obama Hand Picks Which Journalists are Allowed to Ask Him Questions
When you are as image conscious as president-elect Obama appears to be at what length will you go to keep that image undisturbed?
The press is realizing more and more that Barack Obama is using them, or at least some of them, to protect his image. It should come as no surprise when you read this article that Barack Obama is hand picking which reporters he will take questions from after he concludes his press conferences.
According to Sun-Times columnist and long-time Chicago journalist, Carol Marin, journalists at Barack Obama news conferences have come to realize that Obama has pre-picked those journalists whom he will allow to ask him questions at the conference and many of them now “don’t even bother raising” their hands to be called upon.
As I wrote above, this should not surprise anyone that is paying attention. Let’s examine his record with the press, and I’m not even talking about him being in favor of re-instituting the fairness doctrine this time.
- Obama’s staff already threatened television stations with revocation of their FCC licenses when they spoke ill of him during the campaign.
- OBama has already thrown reporters off of his plane because they wrote articles for newspapers that he doesn’ like.
- Obama has sent out truth squads to harass people who ran television ads that he did not approve of.
- An anti-Obama writer already been detained in Kenya suspiciously while he was on his way to a press conference.
- Obama’s campaign harassed a radio station that was critical of him
So as you can see Barack Obama is running a tight ship when it come to press availability.
The article then askes several good questions:
One wonders why journalists are allowing this corralling of the press? Would they have allowed George W. Bush to pre-pick journalists like that? Would they meekly sit by and allow themselves to be systematically ignored, their freedom to ask questions silenced by any Republican? Would journalists so eagerly vie with one another for the favor of Bush like they are Obama’s?
We know the answers to all of those questions, don’t we? The media is totally in the tank for the president-elect, so much so that they can even overlook the fact that most of them are not even allowed to ask the anointed one a question. As long as they can hear him speak they are happy.
One has a sinking suspicion that the press is allowing itself to become Obama’s lapdog extraordinaire.
Now that may be the understatement of the century. If it wasn’t for the media’s schoolgirl like crush on Obama and their coddling of him, Hillary Clinton would probably be less than a week away from the presidency.
As Barack Obama picks and chooses which reporters can ask him questions and which ones can’t one has to wonder the following; if Obama chooses who can speak to him does he also choose what they can ask him?
I don’t think it is out of the question that he could possibly be feeding questions to the ever so willing media to assure that he is always painted in a good light.
Bill Clinton was a master at public perception, manipulation, and public relations, and it appears that Barack Obama may have learned a great deal from the former president.
Happy Birthday to Me
Happy birthday to me. Or more specifically, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA’S WATCHTOWER!
It is hard to believe it but today marks the second birthday of America’s Watchtower. Or at least this blog, the name America’s Watchtower is only a few months old but you get my point.
These two years that have passed since I decided to become a blogger have flown by. They have been fun. Last year was an important year in American politics and I had a great time trying influence people. I failed, and Obama’s soon to be inauguration is proof of that, but I will press on. Whether you like it or not.
I would like to thank all of those who continue to read my ramblings on a regular basis and I would also like to thank those that just stop by once in a while. I have made many friends here and look forward to meeting more people and debating more issues in the upcoming years.
These next four years are going to be even more important that the last one and I look forward to blogging as often as possible in the future. Conservatives may have lost the last round but we must still band together, make our voices heard, and continue to fight until we get back where we belong.
Barack Obama Admits he Can’t Fulfill His Campaign Promises
Yesterday I had this story about the media trying to lower the expectations of what president-elect Obama will be able to accomplish. The New York Times was using the economy as an excuse for Obama. The gist of that article was that because of the bad economy Barack Obama wasn’t going to be able to fulfill all of his campaign promises.
Today we can read here that Obama himself is now setting the stage for his possible failure to fulfill his campaign promises. Evidently Obama reads the New York Times and agreed that the economy sounded like a good excuse to use to blame whatever shortcomings he has in regards to promises made during the campaign. He should probably sent the New York Times a thank you letter for the idea.
I want to be realistic here, not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped,” Obama said
Now he wants to be realistic? Shouldn’t he have been realistic all along? Now that he has been elected he can be realistic but during the campaign he was allowed to promise too much to too many and he was never called on it by the media. He was allowed to present a glowing Utopian paradise where he will give everybody anything that they want and the media just bowed to him and showered praise upon him. The media and their lack of journalist credibility allowed Obama to portray himself as the One who would solve all of our problems.
Now that he is about to be inaugurated and there is no way in hell that he can live up to the expectations that he created for himself, along with an all to willing media, the media has decided that they need to start providing him cover just in case he fails. President-elect Obama, seeing the chance for cover that the New York Times provided, has jumped right on board with the notion that because of the economy we will have to lower our expectations of what Barack Obama can accomplish.
He isn’t even in power yet and the media is already making excuses for Obama before he has had a chance to either succeed or fail.
Perhaps Barack Obama and the media should have been more realistic, (in other words truthful), with the American people in the first place. And perhaps the American people should have been more realistic in the first place also.
Barack Obama hasn’t even been sworn in yet and already his allies in the media are making excuses for what they believe will be his failure to follow through on most of his campaign promises.
They are already lowering expectations for Obama by claiming that the economy will prevent Obama from implementing many of his promises. In other words, it’s Bush’s fault that Obama bit off more than he could chew.
A convenient excuse from somebody who promised everything to everybody even if it conflicted with promises that he made to other bodies.

President-elect Obama cares so much about the economy that he is going to be forced to reneg on many of his campaign promises, at least that is the gist of the article linked to above.
I just have one question though. What ever happened to multitasking? During the campaign when the economy started going bad John McCain suspended his campaign to fly back to Washington and focus on the bailout bill. He challenged Obama to do the same. Barack Obama at first refused to do so because he claimed that the president would have to be able to multitask, he claimed that the president would have to be able to deal with more than one issue at a time. So what happened to multitasking?
Suddenly the economy is such an issue that even Obama the Great will not be able to focus on more than one issue. Suddenly the anointed one will not be able to multitask and not only will his allies in the media not call him on this, they use it as an excuse for him.
It must be nice to have the media in your back pocket.
