American Voters are Cooling on Global Warming
Finally a little bit of good news on the global warming fiasco front as it appears Americans may be waking up and realizing that this is nothing but a scam.
Only 41 percent said it was human activity, while 44 percent said it was long-term planetary trends. Seven percent said it was “some other reason,” and nine percent said they were not sure.
This is a significant shift from a poll conducted last April in which 47 percent said human activity caused global warming and only 34 percent said long term planetary trends caused it.
It seems that the science backs up the skepticism:
Americans’ changing views on the causes of global warming are backed up by science, according to Donald J. Easterbrook, a geology professor at Western Washington University.
An examination of almost 400 years of climate fluctuations shows “an almost exact correlation” between climate changes and solar radiation, not human activity, Easterbrook told CNSNews.com’s Kevin Mooney in September 2008.
The sun causes global warming. And as far as Al Gore and his carbon dioxide theory goes:
Only one in 30 climate events is linked to carbon dioxide emissions, a pretty shaky record according to Dr. Easterbrook.
“Only one in 30 shows any correlation with CO2,” he said. “So if you’re a baseball player with 30 at bats, that’s not a very good average.”
It appears that Americans may finally be starting to question the science of man-made global warming, the tide may be turning.
I fear it is too late however with tomorrow’s inauguration of the most left leaning president in history. As Americans begin to question global warming, Barack Obama becomes poised to implement radical global warming initiatives that will cost the taxpayers billions of dollars.
And he will have the support of his party and the leftist voters, as they are the last holdouts, ready to give away their money and their freedom to save the planet in the name of a hoax.
Fifty-nine percent of Democrats said human activity causes global warming, but only 21 percent of Republicans. Sixty-seven percent of Republicans, meanwhile, attributed global warming to long-term planetary trends, while only 23 percent of Democrats did.
The Truth About Obama’s Stimulus Plan
By now you have heard much about President-elect Obama’s New New Deal, what some are already calling the Raw Deal, otherwise known as his stimulus package that is going to cost us over $800 trillion. You have also heard Obama say that this is a massive infrastructure bill to repair bridges and roads while putting millions of Americans back to work.
However when you remove the Obama spin machine from the equation and start to look at the numbers it isn’t really an infrastructure related bill. Just take a look at these numbers from this article:
Although the House Democrats’ proposal has been billed as a transportation and infrastructure investment package, in actuality only $30 billion of the bill — or three percent — is for road and highway spending. A recent study from the Congressional Budget Office said that only 25 percent of infrastructure dollars can be spent in the first year, making the one year total less than $7 billion for infrastructure.
Only three percent of the money is actually allotted to infrastructure. THREE PERCENT! Let’s look at where the other money is going:
Much of the funding within the House Democrats’ proposal will go to programs that already have large, unexpended balances. For example, the bill provides $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which already have $16 billion on hand.
Much of the money is going to programs that haven’t even spent the government money that they have already received. This is insane. Let’s dig a little deeper and look at some of the pork that is going onto this bill that Obama promised would contain no pork.
- $650 million for digital TV coupons.
- $6 billion for colleges/universities — many which have billion dollar endowments.
- $166 billion in direct aid to states — many of which have failed to budget wisely.
- $50 million in funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
- $44 million for repairs to U.S. Department of Agriculture headquarters.
- $200 million for the National Mall, including grass planting.
- $400 million for “National Treasures.”
We are going to pay to plant grass at a mall, isn’t that nice?
This plan is a disaster waiting to happen. This country is about to spend itself into irrelevance. Where is this money going to come from? You and I. And China, if they are still winning to loan us more money. We can’t continue to spend money we don’t have and we certainly can’t tax the people any more than they are already being taxed if we want to get the economy back on track. And speaking of taxes there is this little tidbit also:
that true tax relief makes up only 24 percent of the total package — not the 40 percent that President-elect Obama had requested.
There is a reason why the president-elect has kept the details of this plan quiet and the more we find out about it the more we understand why.
President Bush Commutes the Sentences of Ramos and Campean
In President Bush’s last full day in office he finally did the right thing by Ramos and Campean and granted them a commutation of their sentences. These two men have been in jail for two years for trying to protect the southern border and today they finally received justice.
These two heros should have been given a medal for driving an illegal alien, drug smugglingscumbag back across the border. Instead that same scumbag was given immunity by the United States government to testify against two men whose job it was to capture illegal aliens. These men were railroaded, but today they got what they deserved.
While they weren’t granted a full pardon, the president still claims they got a fair trial and were found guilty, the important thing is that they are going home to their families and can once again be fathers to their children.
I wrote a post last week predicting that President Bush would not let these men out of jail and today I am glad that I was wrong.
Thank you President Bush for finally doing justice to these two men who were protecting our borders.
Maryland Senator: “It Doesn’t Matter if Maryland is Broke as Long as Barack Obama is President”
Below is a video from a star struck Maryland senator who also happens to be the state majority WHIP who claims that it doesn’t matter if her state is broke because Obama is going to be president. How do you suppose her constituents feel when she basically says to hell with my state all because she is so enthralled with the notion of Barack Obama’s presidency?
It is simple amazing to see an elected official gushing over Barack Obama like a little school girl. She has been totally caught up in the Obamamania and the American Idolization of politics today. This woman is unprofessional and it is hard to believe that she was actually able to get elected.
I expect this:
from many Obama supporters but coming from an elected senator it is truly unbecoming. And downright scary.
Speaker at Obama’s Inauguration Linked to Hamas
Much has been made by the left of President-elect Obama’s choice of Rick Warren to give the invocation at Obama’s inauguration. The left was up in arms. But where is all the outrage over the fact that one of the people saying a prayer at Obama’s inauguration has ties to Hamas, the terrorist organization?
One of the religious leaders invited to address Barack Obama’s inaugural prayer service Wednesday heads an Islamic group named by federal prosecutors as a co-conspirator in a terrorism-fundraising trial in Texas.
in May 2007, federal prosecutors included ISNA on a list of nearly 300 co-conspirators filed in a criminal case charging that the Holy Land Foundation of Richardson, Texas, funneled more than $12 million to Hamas.
While the left was beside themselves over the issue of the word “God” being used during the inauguration and the fact that Obama was going to have a reverend give an invocation at his inauguration, little has been made about this issue about a sympathizer of a terrorist organization also being allowed to speak.
It says something about people who feel more threatened by a reverend who preaches about morals and family values than by a person who sends money to a terrorist organization.
Barack Obama Supporters Deface the American Flag
Some of Barack Obama’s enthusiastic supporters decided to show their support by…..defacing the American flag.
Placing Obama’s image on the American flag is in direct violation of the flag code which states; “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature”.
Is this a big deal in the long run? Does this reflect on Barack Obama? No, but it just shows a lack of respect for the flag that so many people have fought and died for, and are still fighting for today. These people don’t even have the common decency, or are just plain ignorant of what they are doing, to not desecrate the symbol that so many people have sacrificed their lives to defend. People have died to defend the rights of these very same people to demonstrate in such a disgraceful manner.
I wonder how many of them even think about that, and how offensive some people find their actions.
Barack Obama Refuses to Give up His Blackberry
For security reasons Barack Obama is supposed to give up his Blackberry after he becomes president, but he is addicted to it and is refusing to give it up.
I have to draw the line here. As a fellow Blackberry addict I have to come to Obama’s defense. Leave the man alone and let him have his Blackberry. I am sure that even Barack Obama is smart enough not to let sensitive information be sent or received on his Blackberry.
This is a conspiracy being perpetrated on Obama and other Blackberry users by the iPhone people, but we won’t stand for it, we won’t be intimidated, and we won’t be denied. The big iPhone lobby won’t have their way.
I will stand with my Blackberry brother Barack Obama and will refuse to succumb to the iPhone tyranny.
This is Big Brother, government intervention at it’s finest. Who the hell do the elected officials think they are that they can tell the president of the United States of America what phone he can and cannot use? These iPhone communists must be stopped.
The first amendment in the bill of rights guarantees the freedom of speech and of the press so how can the government dictate where the president gets his news? Or which phone he chooses to speak through? This is un-American and unconstitutional and I will stand next to Barack Obama as he fights to maintain his freedoms.

Eric Holder Says Pardons for FALN Terrorists Were Reasonable
I am not sure what you have to do wrong if you are a Barack Obama cabinet nominee to have your appointment denied. Timothy Geithner is going to be confirmed as Treasury Secretary even though he was a known tax evader who was reimbursed by the company he worked for for the taxes he never paid, he is now going to be in charge of the IRS along with fellow tax cheat Charlie Rangel. And now we have Eric Holder, Obama choice for Attorney General, when questioned on his recommendation to President Clinton that 16 unrepentent FALN terrorist be pardoned claimed that that decision was “reasonable”.
These terrorists were linked to over 130 bombings and other violent crimes, here is what Erik Holder had to say about the pardons:
These were criminals, these were terrorists, these were bad people,” Holder said. “The president’s determination was they did not commit any acts themselves. Given the length of the sentences, 16-to-19 years, given the lengthy sentences, it was his determination that the clemency requests were appropriate. Given all that I’ve described, what the president did was reasonable
They didn’t commit the crimes themselves, so while they are criminals who were involved in murders, bombing, robbery, and the like it is reasonable that they should be pardoned. That’s good to know, by this logic a person can hire a hitman to kill somebody and because he didn’t commit the crime himself it would be reasonable to pardon him.
It is not surprising when you read the quote from Holder above that Barack Obama chose him for the job, after all Barack Obama has an affinity for “palling around with” unrepentant terrorists and he wants to close GITMO and give enemy combatants full rights to a trial guaranteed in the UNITED STATES constitution (for Americans).
Eric Holder should fit right in.
Yesterday the United States House of Representatives voted to increase the SCHIP program. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it? After all this is a program that insures poor children, or at least it was. Now it is just turning into a program to insure the children, even those who were already covered under their parent’s insurance. This is another attempt at eliminating parent responsibility and replacing it with Big Brother government intervention.
It contains big tax increases so Washington can take kids off private health insurance and put them on public subsidies.
So what? All this money goes to insure poor kids, right? Nope. House Republicans introduced a measure to guarantee that low-income children would be first in line to receive the subsidized insurance. Democrats, including New Hampshire’s U.S. Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes, killed it.
The expansion would make eligible for federally subsidized insurance about 2 million children who are currently covered by private health insurance. It would cover families making as much as three times the federal poverty level.
This is a big tax increase to pay for a middle-class entitlement.
So how do they plan to pay for this entitlement, which in case you missed it covers poor families who make over three times the poverty level? By taxing a politically vulgar group. The smokers.
The bill raises the federal tax on a pack of cigarettes from 39 cents to $1. It raises taxes on small cigars to $12.50 per 1,000 cigars this year, then to $50 per 1,000 in 2015! The tax rate on large cigars is raised to more than 50 percent, with a cap of 40 cents per cigar — eight times the current tax.
So let me get this straight, in order to provide healthcare to the children of families who already have healthcare, the Democrats want to impose a tax that will disproportionally hurt the poorer families. Yeah, that makes sense.
But it gets even worse. There is a provision that would provide healthcare to children of illegal aliens on a temporary basis.
The bill also allows for immigrants, both legal and illegal, to access SCHIP funds, although illegal immigrants may only do so for 90 days.
But the bill eliminates the need for an immigrant to show a photo ID or papers proving that he/she is legal.
The bill removes previous requirements, currently required under Medicaid, that mandate new enrollees provide photo identification and documentation proving citizenship, such as a green card or passport, when applying for SCHIP.
The only document that an immigrant will have to show is a social security number.
The new language strips this proposal and says that states can accept Social Security numbers as proof of citizenship
If an illegal alien steals your social security number they will be able to use it to gain taxpayer funded health insurance. What are the chances of that happening? Well, I hear commercials on the radio all the time that claim that identity fraud is the fastest growing crime in America, and judging by legislation such as the expansion of SCHIP I am not surprised.
This bill is being fast-tracked and should appear on President Obama’s desk shortly after taking office.
America’s Watchtower Bids President Bush Farewell
I have been torn about writing this post, I have started it several times and then deleted it only to start once again. I wasn’t sure which direction to take this post. I have been rather critical of President Bush recently, mostly about illegal immigration, spending, and the bailout bill but I have decided to look at the positives as the president gets ready to leave office. Regular readers here know of my recent displeasure with the president so I feel as if this post should be about reflecting on what I consider his three greatest accomplishments.
First and foremost is the fact that President Bush has kept America safe since September 11th. He has implemented policies that were sorely missing before he took office that led to September 11th and we haven’t had a repeat since. He has fought the war on terror relentlessly and with great conviction even in the face of falling poll numbers. He put what he believed was right ahead of his popularity, something that President Clinton never did.
Whether or not you agree with the war in Iraq, President Bush never wavered in hid duty to fight the war to it’s conclusion even at the sacrifice of his poll numbers. He believed and still believes in the cause and for that he should be admired.
When the future of the war was being debated after the 2006 election and there were calls to end the war the president again didn’t bow to popular opinion. He authorized the surge which turned out to be the proper call.
Secondly- judges. President Bush’s most long standing and influential accomplishment will be considered his Supreme Court appointments. Again facing huge Democrat opposition President Bush was able to get two great nominees to the Supreme Court confirmed- Justice Alito and Chief Justice Roberts.
With these two men conservatives are assured to have a conservative voice on the Supreme court for years to come.
Thirdly-taxes. Contrary to Democrat spin and popular belief President Bush lowered taxes for EVERYBODY. He did not just give tax breaks to the rich as has been widely reported.If you pay taxes then you pay less taxes than you did before President Bush took office.
In an age where style trumps substance and it is more important to say something well than to actually accomplish anything, it is here that the President fails the most. He has never been a great or even good speaker, since the American Idolization of politics this is what has done him the greatest harm. People are more swayed, and more easily fooled by a great linguist than a great leader.
If he could have expressed himself in the manner of a Bill Clinton or even a Barack Obama he wouldn’t have fallen as far in the polls as he has. If he constantly paraded himself on television and spun the issues the way that President Clinton did he would be more popular. But he didn’t, he let his actions speak for him and Americans don’t seem to respond to that.
But last night during his farewell address he gave us perhaps his finest performance. He was gracious, thankful, and honest. All traits that we knew he had but so rarely were we shown. I just wish he had done that more often over the last eight years.
Last night President Bush thanked the American people for giving him the opportunity to serve us, today it is my turn to say thank you.
