70 House Democrats May be Vulnerable in 2010
I know that people want to take a break and not think about elections for a while after what was probably the longest campaign cycle in history but there is not any time for letup. That is why I have already written at least two posts about the mid term election of 2010, and here comes another. Conservatives do not have the luxury of taking time off now that the presidential election is over. Now is the time that conservatives need to start looking forward and rebuilding for the next election, there is no time to waste. Democrats are already looking at holding on to their majorities and Republicans need to concentrate on making gains RIGHT NOW for 2010.
Democrats are already telling their constituents not to rest easy because of the gains that they have made in the last two elections. There is a belief by some Democrats that as many as 70 Democrat seats could be vulnerable in 2010 and conservatives need to start focusing on them immediately. There is no time to waste.
Harry Reid is already feeling the pressure and now it appears that he is not alone.
We have a daunting challenge ahead in the 2010 midterm elections,” Democratic House campaign chief Chris Van Hollen says in a year-end Web video thanking supporters. “Many of our new members are from conservative areas with long histories of Republican representation. We are looking at potentially 70 — 70 — threatened Democrats who will need our support
Now is not the time to lick our wounds, now is the time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start all over again. It may be a long road but the journey must start and it must start now. You may be tired of elections and of politics but to delay starting will just delay results and we cannot afford any delay. Literally or figuratively.
Conseravtives need to get the message out there and it must start now. It isn’t too soon to look towards the next election, on the contrary, it is imperative that we start looking forward to the next election. Liberals are and we can’t fall behind once again. We need to adopt the liberal practice of attack, attack, attack.
If we sit idly by now we will be wondering how we lost yet another election in 2010. The time for action is now. Democrats know it and we must learn it.
Harry Reid is on the Hot Seat and is Already Campaigning for 2010
It may be hard to believe but it is election time again. It seems as though nowadays it is always election season, perhaps I am just paying more attention now than when I was younger.
Harry Reid sure believes it is election season and he is already campaigning for his re-election in 2010. Harry Reid and also the Republicans consider his seat to be one of the most vulnerable in the election of 2010. Allot can happen between now and then but Harry Reid is acting like he is already nervous.
He is now in the process of hiring a campaign manager and is stepping up his fundraising efforts.
Sen. Reid, perhaps the most-vulnerable Democrat who will face re-election in a midterm race that is likely to favor his party once again, began interviewing campaign managers last week. The Senate majority leader also recently stepped up fund-raising.
Why is he in perceived peril? Mostly because the last two senate majority leaders fell victim to the mid-term elections and Harry Reid doesn’t want to follow suit. His favorability ratings aren’t very good either.
A recent Research 2000 poll of likely voters put his approval rating at 38% and his disapproval rating at 54%, a possible reflection of voters’ displeasure with gridlock and partisanship in Washington
This is likely to change (one way or the other) with a huge Democrat majority in the house and senate. The gridlock that is hurting his approval ratings should not be as much a factor once 2010 rolls around. What will decide his fate by that point is how far to the left he and his Democrat colleagues push Americans, and whether we are truly a left leaning country.
While there are still two years to go until we find this out, Harry Reid’s campaign coffers are filling up rather nicely.
A spokesman for Sen. Reid said he expects to have $3 million in his campaign account at the end of the year, up from about $2.75 million on Oct. 1.
These people, Republicans and Democrats, are in constant campaign mode. The money being generated is astounding. No wonder nothing gets done. These politicians are more interested in raising money for their re-election that actually doing the job we hired them to do.
And I thought John McCain’s campaign finance reform was supposed to take the money out of politics.
Oregon Considers a Milage Tax Tracked by Satelite
This is a story that should have all of the “George Bush is spying on the American people” people up in arms. But it won’t. Oregon is the latest state to consider a tax on drivers based on how many miles they drive. They have a unique idea on how they would track the miles driven by their residents. The Oregon government will track it’s residents using GPS to determine how many miles they have driven and then tax them accordingly.
The Oregon state government claims that the GPS system will not be used to follow their residents to track where they go, just how many miles they go. Bullshit. This is encroachment on the residents of Oregon, this is absurd.
All Oregon drivers will be tracked by GPS and this is not a violation of their personal freedoms? This is not spying on the Oregon residents? It sure sounds like spying to me. Just because the spying will be done for a politically correct reason doesn’t make it any more proper than any other spying on the people.
George Bush was raked over the coals for his foreign surveillance program. He was accused of infringing on the rights of the American people, where is the outrage for this insidious proposal?
Will 2008 Be Considered the Year That Global Warming Was Disproved?
2008 may eventually go down as the year that man-made global warming was disproved. At least that is the basis of this article, and I hope it proves true.
Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.
That is music to my ears and I only hope that it is true when the author claims that the tide is turning. The article then lists the following three reasons why the momentum is being lost by the global warming alarmists.
First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.
The alarmists don’t let that little fact get in the way of their argument as they claim that falling temperatures are proof that the earth is warming. Go figure.
Secondly, 2008 was the year when any pretence that there was a “scientific consensus” in favour of man-made global warming collapsed. At long last, as in the Manhattan Declaration last March, hundreds of proper scientists, including many of the world’s most eminent climate experts, have been rallying to pour scorn on that “consensus” which was only a politically engineered artefact, based on ever more blatantly manipulated data and computer models programmed to produce no more than convenient fictions.
That is something that I have been writing about since I began this blog almost two years ago. There is no scientific consensus on global warming just political consensus.
Here is a post that I wrote about 650 scientists who dissent from the whole notion that global warming is man-made. The most telling quote in that post is by a scientist who says that now that he is no longer affiliated with an organization or receiving funding he can now speak frankly about global warming. In other words while he was receiving funding he had to claim global warming was man-made or face the threat of losing that funding.
That isn’t scientific consensus no matter what the politicians or the media or the UN tell us.

Thirdly, as banks collapsed and the global economy plunged into its worst recession for decades, harsh reality at last began to break in on those self-deluding dreams which have for so long possessed almost every politician in the western world. As we saw in this month’s Poznan conference, when 10,000 politicians, officials and “environmentalists” gathered to plan next year’s “son of Kyoto” treaty in Copenhagen, panicking politicians are waking up to the fact that the world can no longer afford all those quixotic schemes for “combating climate change” with which they were so happy to indulge themselves in more comfortable times.
Suddenly it has become rather less appealing that we should divert trillions of dollars, pounds and euros into the fantasy that we could reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 80 per cent. All those grandiose projects for “emissions trading”, “carbon capture”, building tens of thousands more useless wind turbines, switching vast areas of farmland from producing food to “biofuels”, are being exposed as no more than enormously damaging and futile gestures, costing astronomic sums we no longer possess.
Every solution we hear about by the politicians involve those same politicians separating us from our money and now that the economy has taken a downturn people don’t want to lose even more of their money, Especially to a scam such as global warming.
While I don’t agree that the downturn in the economy has anything to do with the disproving of global warming I am all for any excuse to stop the hoax from being perpetrated on the people. So if the economic downturn stops politicians from implementing their disastrous and nefarious plot to subjugate the people through taxes, fees, and restrictions I say at least there is one upside to the downturn in the economy.
Will 2008 go down as the year that global warming was disproved? I doubt is but let’s hope that it was at least the year when the tide turned against the global warming hoax. And let’s hope that the tide continues to turn.
Obama Grows More Irritated by the Press Every Day
One thing that I have noticed about president-elect Obama since he won last November is how short he can be at times with the press and this article talks about that.
I don’t fault him for that, I imagine the press can be overbearing and obnoxious but the truth is that Obama should have realized that this was coming and he is just going to have to get used to it. He has come a long way in four years; from a political nobody to the president-elect. This could just be a small example of what people talk about when they say that he wasn’t ready to be president.
There are many reasons why Obama wasn’t ready to be president and his apologists will say that he has surrounded himself with insiders to protect against his political inadequacies. His detractors; that these insiders are proof that Obama is politics as usual. But that is off topic, he also wasn’t ready for the strangling media onslaught.
This could be an issue that nobody can help him cope with. He may have to come to grips with this issue on his own. He has skyrocketed to political stardom probably faster than anyone in American history and with this success comes certain responsibilities aside the ones of the office. Aside from his political agenda and worldly issues comes a responsibility to the press. All presidents have dealt with it, Obama must also.
Obama will be scrutinized by both the public and the press and he is going to have to learn to deal with it properly. Did he just assume that once he became president every one in the press would simply back down?
Part of this is the fault of the media itself. Other than blogs and websites Obama was given a free pass in the media during his whole campaign. Most likely he thought that it would continue. And really, he still is getting a honeymoon. The press isn’t critical of Obama, they are just relentless. They are starved for everything Obama. It comes with the territory, it’s in the job description.
President-elect Obama has lost certain freedoms- the freedom to be spontaneous with his family for example, and he is not coping with it well. At least not yet. But it isn’t going to get any easier, in fact it will get harder as time goes on and he has made difficult polity decisions.
One has to ask, did Obama realize what he was getting himself into when he decided to run for president? Did he just do it on a whim? And does he regret it at all?
I know that I would.
Obama’s Christmas Diversion
When a politician has bad news to release they usually do it on a Friday afternoon if possible because most people are geared up for the weekend and aren’t paying attention. By the time people are paying attention the issue is not in the news cycle any more.
President-elect Obama has taken that standard to a new level. When it came time to release his “cough, cough” internal investigation he did so on the day before Christmas when everyone had Christmas shopping and Christmas plans on the mind and were not paying attention. As if that wasn’t enough political cover he also decided to vacation in Hawaii where he would be bereft of media scrutiny. (Other than that “oh so gorgeous” shirtless picture).
The ultimate Christmas diversion.
So in case you missed it, Obama released his “cough, cough” internal investigation into the Blagojevich scandal the day before Christmas and in it we learned that contrary to Obama’s previous claims, (the first was that nobody on his staff contacted Blagojevich, the second was that Emanuel did contact Blagojevich but only once), Rahm Emanuel had several conversations with Blagojevich.
This can mean only one of two things; that Obama lied about his staff’s involvement with the corrupt Blagojevich, or that he didn’t know what Rahm Emanuel was up to. Which is worse?
We also know that Obama gave Emanuel a list of possible replacements that he would approve of for his vacant seat. It sounds to me like he knew about Emanuel’s conversations with Blagojevich therefore he must have lied.
In later telephone conversations, Mr. Emanuel – also with the president-elect’s approval – presented other names of qualified candidates to Mr. Harris including Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Ms. Cheryle Jackson
This is all coming from the man who claimed that he wanted an open an honest government. He isn’t off to a good start but it gets worse.
Also conveniently hidden during the hectic Christmas season was the fact that Obama and his staff were interrogated by four FBI agents for more than two hours. While early reports are that Obama is accused of no wrong-doing and that he answered all of the questions willingly this would be a cloud over his head but nobody has heard about it because of the timing of the release. Any time a president is interrogated by the FBI it is news and in this case this has to be the first time a president-elect has been caught up in such a scandal however ancillary his role may have been.
But wait, there is still more news that was released over this “holiday” 
season. The latest in this pre inauguration scandal is the fact that members of Obama’s staff may be subpoenaed to testify in the Blagojevich trial. This could be real interesting. Are they going to testify in defense of this man’s reprehensible actions or are they duplicitous in his actions?
The more we learn about Blagojevich and his scheme to sell Barack Obama’s senate seat and the more we learn about Emanuel’s role in this scandal the more suspicious it becomes.
Barack Obama has pulled off the ultimate deception. Not the scandal itself but the way the news was released to the public. By releasing all of this information just before Christmas while vacationing in Hawaii he has guaranteed that the least amount of people will ever hear of this. It will slide by the wayside, just as all of his other shady associations from Reverend Wright to William Ayers did. Don’t ask, don’t tell. The public remains blissfully ignorant.
There is a storm gathering and most people don’t yet see it. Most likely it will pass without a second thought as the media does it’s best to provide cover for Obama. A cloud is hanging in the air and it is beginning to rain in Obamaland. But to quote Bill Murray in Caddyshack, “I don’t think the heavy stuff will come down for quite a while.”
While the political winds had died down and nobody was paying attention Barack Obama pulled off the perfect Christmas diversion.
Christmas Lights are to Blame for Global Warming
Last year it was the Jews fault, this year it is the Christians fault. What am I talking about? Global warming of course.
Last year a story came out before Hanukkah that claimed that the lighting of the Hanukkah candles was destroying the environment. The story went so far as to claim that the Jews should change the religious meaning behind lighting the eighth candle on the Menorah to symbolize making a sacrifice to the environment.
This year the Jews are off the hook, this year it is the Christmas lights that are destroying the planet.
All regular readers here know that I believe global warming is a hoax that is being used to subjugate the people through restrictions and taxes. Ban this, tax that and BAM global warming is solved. Global warming is being used as a medium to regulate people and their everyday activities all in the name of raising more taxes and fees while taking more and more freedoms away from us. Global warming is about government control.
It should come as no surprise then that all religions will eventually be attacked by the environmental communists in government. What better way to subjugate the people if on the whole they are godless? If religions and religious traditions are taken away from the people and the state becomes the highest power than the statement ” all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” has no meaning or bearing. For the founders didn’t believe that the rights of the people came from the government, the founders believed that the rights came from the Creator. As such the government cannot take away rights that it didn’t grant in the first place. If however the people are slowly convinced over the years that the government gave us our rights than they will eventually be led to believe that the government can take away those rights.
Whether or not you believe in God or not the main point of the founders still holds true. The government did not give us our rights, we have our rights in spite of the government. Once this is forgotten it is time to panic. Sometimes you have to fight for those rights, the founders realized this and we must also. I am not talking about a physical fight of course but we need a concerted effort to stop these elected government legislators (who still work for us) from implementing this scheme. We need to be heard LOUD AND CLEAR! Before it is too late.
The government is using global warming as a means to take away freedoms slowly but surely. So far we have managed to keep the government at bay (for the most part), but we must stay vigilant. We must not succumb to those who believe that we are destroying the planet by our very existence. If we do, we deserve all that we get.
Once the government is through taxing us on our “carbon footprints” and our energy consumption we will not have disposable income to spend on anything. And that is the goal because these global warming alarmists in our government want the government to provide everything for us. They don’t want us to get ahead on our own and by taking our money through taxes and fees we won’t be able to.
Praise be to Mother Earth.
Barack Obama to Retain Most of President Bush’s War Team
This has got to be disheartening to the anti-war activists that voted for Barack Obama based on one of his positions on the Iraq War, the immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
President-elect Obama first decided to keep Defense Secretary Robert Gates on board and if that wasn’t enough to drive the anti-war crowd nuts he has authorized Robert Gates to extend most of President Bush’s war team an invitation to serve under Obama.
The president-elect was never going to withdraw troops immediately or within thirteen months or within any of the other timetables he threw out there. Over the course of the campaign his position morphed into basically the same position as President Bush’s, that he would listen to the commanders on the ground. To do otherwise would have been irresponsible and foolhardy. The far left was oblivious to Obama’s gradual change because of their hatred towards President Bush.
Now his transition to President Bush’s side on the Iraq War issue seems to be completed. The only ones who didn’t see this coming were the ones who voted first and foremost on the issue of ending the war.
Barack Obama’s gradual change on this issue was brilliantly played. As the Iraq War news got better and better and the war fell from the hourly news cycle Barack Obama was afforded the opportunity to gradually change his position. The less that the public heard about the war and the further it slipped from their minds the easier it was for Obama to slide over to George Bush’s side. And he pulled it off masterfully, so masterfully in fact that the anti-war crowd probably hasn’t even heard that Obama kept Robert Gates and most of Bush’s war team. And that is just the way he likes it.
As Barack Obama conveniently hides in Hawaii his staff releasedtheir internal investigation into the Blagojevich scandal. What does the investigation show us? It shows us that Barack Obama lied to the American people when he claimed that nobody on his staff had any conversations with Blagojevich. HE L-I-E-D! Plain and simple.
It turns out that contrary to how George Stephanopoulos tried to spin the controversy there was contact made between Obama’s chief of staff and the disgraced governor and it involves more that just one conversation.
Although he still claims that none of the conversations were about a pay to play deal the report does state that Obama gave Emanuel a list of acceptable replacements for Blagojevich to consider.

While it is entirely likely that Emanuel never discussed a deal with Blago and hence there was no wrong-doing the bottom line is that Obama’s first reaction to the story was to lie about his staff’s involvement. That is just to hard to overlook. Obama’s first “crisis” or controversy and his initial reaction was to lie about it. If he had just come clean in the beginning it would have looked a hell of allot better.
By lying about Emanuel’s involvement it makes him look like he was hiding something. Perhaps he is.
