Was Biden’s “International Crisis” Gaffe a Warning to Democrats That Obama Might Respond Militarily?
Last week, as you probably already know. Joe Biden said the following:
“Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities.
“And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”
In my first post on this issue I focused on a few different angles, one of them was on the last part of his statement. I found it astonishing that Biden could ask for people to stand by Obama even if you thought the response was wrong. The reason I felt this way is because that is the exact opposite of what the left has been dong to president Bush over the last six years. They have staked their political futures on not supporting the president, their hypocrisy is appalling. It is that last part of the statement that I am going to return to again momentarily.
In my second post on this issue I speculated about why Biden said what he said. He spoke as though he knew something. This gaffe came about one week after both campaigns were briefed by the White House on possible terrorist attacks. This was not only a gaffe by Biden, it was a leak of classified information. That is how he was able to guarantee it, he saw intelligence documents.
In this post I have to go back to that last part of his statement, that is the part of the statement that I can’t get past. What did he mean that is wouldn’t be apparent if they were doing the right thing when the administration responded? Did he mean that Americans would be looking for revenge but the administration was going to try to reason with the enemy? We already know that Obama will meet without preconditions with the dictator leaders of our enemies, so that couldn’t be it. That would be what I disagreed with, but he wasn’t speaking to me. In order to understand what he might have been alluding to we have to look at who he was talking to. He was speaking at a fundraiser for the Democrat party. He was speaking to the far left base, because let’s face it the base of the Democrat party is now far left.
Considering who he was talking to it would be easy to surmise that what Biden was insinuating is that if Barack Obama does face an “international crisis”, such as a terrorist attack, he would respond militarily. Was Joe Biden trying to warn the left that Barack Obama may have to strike militarily in the face of a terrorist attack? I don’t think that it is too unreasonable to assume.
Knowing that the far left is opposed to war for any reason he is trying to soften the blow if Obama ever had to do the exact opposite of what they elected him to do. He knows it is a possibility, Obama knows it’s a possibility, and they want the moonbats to know it is a possibility. But he could never come right out and say it so he speaks in generalities. The far left would be crushed if Barack Obama actually responded in a forceful manner. So Biden had to come out with a warning that the left may become upset with Obama. He had to say, trust us, we know what’s best for you.
Don’t they always?
John Murtha May Lose His Re-election Bid
It appears as thought John Murtha is slipping in the polls in his bid to win re-election. His opponent is an Iraq war veteran who was so disgusted by Murtha’s remarks about the Haditha marines being cold blooded murderers that he decided to run against him.
Calling his constituents racists surely can’t help his re-election bid, and it appears to be one of the issues that has caused the race to tighten.
he’s upset with Murtha’s comment that racism in the district could hurt Democrat Barack Obama’s chances.
“I didn’t like that at all. He shouldn’t have said it,” Shemanski said
But there is one more issue that seems to be affecting his poll numbers, an issue that I find a little surprising.
Many residents in the district are upset with Congress for passing a $700 billion economic recovery package in an effort to stabilize the nation’s financial market, Russell said. Murtha supported the legislation.
“The bailout, the way it was produced, ended up a bad bill,” Russell said.
“The average person here who has been paying their mortgage or have paid off their house, are being asked to foot the bill for all these people — whether it is the bank or the speculator or the person who bought beyond their means — and people are very unhappy about that,” Russell said.

The general consensus is that the slowing economy favors Barack Obama and thus Democrats but there are many, many people who are extremely upset with the bailout bill, (I am one of them), and it will be interesting to see what kind of affect that it has on not just this race but on races around the country. If any.
The bailout bill could prove to have ramifications that no politician foresaw. People are not happy about it and this could make more politicians vulnerable than we know.
We heat allot about how many Republicans are vulnerable in the upcoming election, but nothing about vulnerable Democrats. Not all Democrats can be safe, and Murtha appears to be one who isn’t.
I hope he gets what he deserves.

The United States and Iraq are Near an Agreement to Bring all Combat Troops Home by 2011
The United States and Iraq are near an agreement that will bring all combat troops home by the year 2011. If I am not mistaken that would mean that President Bush has a plan to bring the troops home two years sooner than Barack Obama’s plan calls for. Or at least one of his plans calls for, he has had several, but the plan that he seems to have settled on calls for the troops coming home by 2013. That is likely to change now that the president’s plan calls for a sooner withdrawal. He will probably now call for an immediate withdrawal to one up the president.
Where is all the joy from the far left blogs? Isn’t this what they have been clamouring for? Isn’t this what they have been demanding? The far left remains eerily silent now that their enemy, the president, has just about accomplished what they so desperately wanted the savior, Barack Obama, to deliver.
If these people really cared so much about peace should it matter to them who delivers it? I wouldn’t think so. Yet there is no joy in Mudville for the mighty Casey won’t even get a turn at bat if this deal gets done. The savior won’t get the credit for ending the war, the wheels will be set in motion before he ever takes office.
John Kerry’s Republican Opponent: “You have Blood on Your Hands”
John Kerry is facing a Republican challenger in the election this year. His name is Jeff Beatty and he probably doesn’t stand a chance to win. John Kerry tried to hide from this man, he refused to debate him, in order to avoid risking losing any ground to him in the election. John Kerry finally agreed to debate him, however he did manage to pull a fast one on Jeff Beatty. When he finally agreed to debate him it was last Monday night, and it coincidentally just happened to be on opposite of Monday Night Football and in an even bigger coincidence it just so happened that the New England Patriots were playing the Denver Broncos that night. Needless to say most Massachusetts residents were watching the Patriots.
Perhaps this is why John Kerry was leery of debating Jeff Beatty and then finally agreeing to debate him when he knew that nobody would be watching. Jeff Beatty hit him hard on the Iraq war. As Beatty was claiming that John Kerry didn’t read the intelligence reports before voting to authorise the war John Kerry was heard snickering. This set Beatty off and this is what he had to say:
“Don’t laugh. It’s not a joke, you knew. You knew when you voted for that war that we didn’t have what we needed for the war . . . and you didn’t care because it was always about getting elected president. You have got blood on your hands.”
That was a stinging indictment of Senator Kerry and he is right about Kerry’s agenda. John Kerry voted for the war when it was politically beneficial. He did not become anti-war until he saw Howard Dean gaining momentum in the polls. That is when he came out and denounced the war.
John Kerry then said that he voted for the war based on intelligence reports that George Tenet and Colin Powell gave him. Wouldn’t these be the same reports that the president also saw? Yet somehow Bush lied and people died. If that is the case than John Kerry and everyone else who voted for the was lied also and people died. They all saw the same reports, you can’t have it both ways senator.
Pardon me for going a little off topic here but has anyone else noticed how Colin Powell is now the darling of the left since he endorsed Obama? I have seen far left wing blogs that proclaim “the only man with any credibility from the Bush administration has endorsed Barack Obama.” Since when did this man gain credibility with the left? Wasn’t he the man who went before the American people and made the very convincing case for war? Wasn’t this the man that the left had previously called an “uncle Tom?” Oh, the beauty of a short memory.
Back on topic now. Finally someone is calling out a person on the left who saw the same intelligence as the president and came to the same conclusion as the president. I don’t agree with Beatty on this issue but at least someone is trying to hold a Democrat to the same standards as a Republican.
Socialism is a Code Word for Black?
It was only a matter of time before we read an article like this one that claims the word socialism is a code word for black. This is part of an ongoing attempt to intimidate Barack Obama’s opponents and critics into remaining silent. As soon people who oppose Barack Obama find an issue or a statement that Barack Obama utters, such as spreading the wealth around, that can be used against him and have the audacity (of hope) to actually speak out against him, they are immediately accused of using code words for racism, or called racists outright.
This is an attempt to silence his opponents using the cunning strategy of political correctness, which in itself is an attack on free speech, to guilt and intimidate people into being so careful not to be looked on as racists that they dare not have a negative word to say against him. Instead of arguing for Obama and his policies, instead of debating the issues, they find it much easier to just intimidate the opposition through ugly, unfounded, and untrue charges.
I look at Barack Obama’s policies and I see a socialist. That and only that is what I judge him on, and I don’t like him. If judging his policies makes me a racist, than fuck it, I guess I am a racist.
McCain Slams Biden for Saying that “We’re gonna have an International Crisis” if Obama is Elected
When Obama selected Joe Biden as his running mate the left only had one concern, the fact that Joe Biden is gaffe prone. Every time that he gives a speech the Democrats hold their breath hoping that he doesn’t say something that will hurt the campaign.
Up until this weekend Biden had made a few gaffes, all of them of the funny rather than harmful variety. That changed over the weekend when during a speech Joe Biden said the following.

This was a major gaffe, or at least it would be if it was reported. He went on to guarantee that if Obama was elected this “crisis” would occur, he also stated that it may come from the middle east. What do you suppose that means? The stupidity of Biden to refocus the campaign on national defense when Obama has made his gains on the economy is astounding. He has shifted the debate right back into McCain’s corner. It may be too late but McCain stands to benefit from this.
Joe Biden admitted that Barack Obama may be tested by our enemies because of his youth and inexperience, he also admitted that Obama’s response may not appear to be correct. This does bring me to one point, if Obama is going to restore America’s standing in the world, if the world is going to rejoice the ascension of Barack Obama to the presidency than why would there be anyone out there who would attack us? I thought by merely electing Obama all of the world’s problems were going to end.
That gaffe plays right into McCain’s hands, and he went on the offensive today.
Just last night, Senator Biden guaranteed that if Senator Obama is elected, we will have an international crisis to test America’s new President. We don’t want a President who invites testing from the world at a time when our economy is in crisis and Americans are already fighting in two wars,” McCain said.
“What is more troubling is that Senator Biden told their campaign donors that when that crisis hits, they would have to stand with them because it wouldn’t be apparent Senator Obama would have the right response.
“Forget apparent. Senator Obama won’t have the right response, and we know that because we’ve seen the wrong response from him over and over during this campaign. He opposed the surge strategy that is bringing us victory in Iraq and will bring us victory in Afghanistan. He said he would sit down unconditionally with the world’s worst dictators. When Russia invaded Georgia, Sen. Obama said the invaded country should show restraint.”
This was a stinging responce to Biden’s remarks. Joe Biden has opened the door and now John McCain must hammer this point home all the way until election day if he stands any remote chance of winning. Barack Obama will try to steer the campaign back to the economy but McCain can not let go of this issue.
Joe Biden has committed the gaffe that McCain and the Republicans have been hoping for, but did he commit it a week or two too late? It is possible that the Obama campaign kept Joe Biden under wraps just barely long enough from costing Barack Obama the election.
But there is one more angle to Biden’s comment that deserves attention. Both campaigns were briefed by the whitehouse last week to make for a smooth transition into the new administration. Joe Biden guaranteed that if Obama won he would be tested with an international crisis. He said mark my words, this is going to happen. He spoke as if he knew something, could it be that he now has intelligence to back up what he said?
Let us assume for the sake of argument that during the briefing it was brought up that no matter which person is elected, the enemy will test the mettle of the new president. (Although Biden’s comment made it sound as if this would happen only if Barack Obama was elected). That gives me another concern about an Obama/Biden administration.
He recieved information just last week about possible terrorist threats and he couldn’t keep his mouth shut for even a few days. Do we need somebody like this in such a high position? Can we trust him with national security? Can we trust him with national secrets?
This was a gaffe that should help McCain if he continues to hammer away at it the way he did today. But it is more than that. It is a gaffe that should leave all Americans wondering, can we really trust Obama/Biden to not only keep us safe but also keep our secrets secure?
Video: McCain Agrees with Murtha that Western Pennsylvania is Racist
This video is just too funny not to post. You remember last week John Murtha called his western Pennsylvanian constituents are racists, well in a speech John McCain, in a Bidenesque gaffe, said that he couldn’t agree more with the disgraceful Murtha. This ranks right up there with Biden saying “jobs” is a three letter word and Biden telling the wheelchair bound man to stand up.
The more that I read about the bailout the worse it gets. My mind hasn’t changed about the socialization of the banking system, in fact I grow more aggravated when I read something like this. In previous posts I asked the question, when has the government ever given back power that it has taken? We now have learned what many of us have been fearing. The treasury department has admitted that they are under no obligation to return anything that they take control over.

Now we know the true reason why the house and senate, along with the president, really wanted this horrible bill passed so quickly. It wasn’t because the economy would fail immediately if the bill failed, it was because they felt the bill needed to be passed before the American people found out exactly what was in it.
The banks who have been purchased are under strict orders not to speak to the public about it.
“Honestly, I think that’s a question you should be asking them,” Bank of New York Mellon spokesman Kevin Heine said. “The reason I’m saying that is because the government has asked us–and I think they’ve asked the other banks–not to describe their program.
“In other words, it’s fine for us to say what we think of the participation in the program, but when people call here about details related to the program itself, the Treasury Department has asked that we defer those questions back to them because they don’t want the banks describing to the press or to the external world their program.”
The same bank spokesman than said when the government tell you to shut up, you shut up.
“Normally that probably wouldn’t be the case, but because it’s the U.S. government, you know, the U.S. government tells you not to talk about their program, you basically don’t talk about their program.”
