New Hampshire faces a huge budget deficit this year and and even larger one next year under Governor Lynch’s fiscally irresponsible budget passed last year. When asked recently if he would look at tax increases or new taxes to fix the budget deficit he created he responded, “Well, I’m going to be looking at everything.” Needless to say, this is very worrisome and he needed to clarify his statement as word circulated that Lynch was preparing to look at the possibility of a sales or income tax.
“I’ve said I’ll veto a sales or income tax, and I’ll say it again. It’s very definitive,” Governor Lynch assured New Hampshire voters. And that is a good start, however he still has not ruled out raising all of the other taxes and fees that he raised just last year. As New Hampshire Advantage Coalition’s statement below says, it is time to cut spending not raise taxes.
“People all over this state have to make tough financial decisions due to the rising cost of living and an uncertain economic outlook. It is about time Gov. Lynch and the leaders in our Legislature realize this and pull back the reins of their out-of-control spending,”
Governor Lynch has done what many Democrats have done over the last several years, he blamed the president instead of looking in the mirror and realizing that he was wrong. He blames President Bush’s policies for the downturn in the economy, and the downturn on the economy for New Hampshire’s budget problem. The truth is that Governor Lynch told the legislature that he opposed a sales or income tax but he didn’t tell them he opposed any additional taxes. This gave the legislature free reign to spend, spend, spend. And spend they did. The estimated revenues received by these new taxes was ballooned to make the spending look legitimate.
However Governor Lynch was warned from the very beginning by Republicans that the revenue estimates could never be gained, but he ignored the warnings. Now that the warnings have become reality Governor Lynch blames the national economy.
An under reported truth in this whole story is that New Hampshire revenues are up this year, they are not down as is being suggested. They just aren’t up enough to support Lynch’s irresponsible spending. If Governor Lynch had only been responsible New Hampshire would not be in this situation.
“We’re $43 million ahead of what we took in last year at this point. We just pumped up our estimates as an excuse to spend more,” Senate Minority Leader Ted Gatsas, R-Manchester, said. “If we had reduced revenues to a realistic level, we wouldn’t be in this position.”
The way for Governor Lynch to solve this problem is to cut some of the spending in his budget. The budget contained a spending increase of 17.5%. Start there, governor. New Hampshire residents don’t need to pay even more, you need to spend less.
It is time to do the right thing for New Hampshire residents, Governor Lynch. Admit you screwed up and fix the problem. You knew New Hampshire could not support your spending proposal but you passed it anyway. New Hampshire never was going to reach the revenues you said it would even without the down turn in the economy.
You were warned and you didn’t listen. Will you listen now?
Video: Mr Pink Eyes, the Song Behind the Name
I decided today to take a quick break from politics. Just a quick break. So I went searching for a video of the song that inspired, so to speak, my alias, mrpinkeyes.
A quick summary of my alias goes as follows. It is the name of a b-side from my favorite band, The Cure. I thought it would be an appropriate name when I joined a Cure forum. I have kept the name ever since. For a more detailed, although no more interesting version of the story you can read my “why mrpinkeyes” page.
The Cure never released a video for the song, but I managed to find a video that was made by a Cure fan and set to the music.
So without further adieu, for anyone who might be interested, the song behind the name:
How Does Barack Obama Really Feel About the Middle Class?
Recently Barack Obama gave a speech in which he talked about the concerns of middle class citizens. He talked about job losses and the home mortgage crisis.
“You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them,” Obama, an Illinois senator, said.
“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,” he said.
The people in Pennsylvania, are like the people in the Midwest, gun toting, bible thumping racists. Maybe he isn’t saying that small town Americans are all three, but he says that we are at least one of the three categories he listed. Four if you count the free trade haters he mentions, which leads me to ask this question. Didn’t Obama campaign against NAFTA in Ohio? Doesn’t that mean he has anti-trade sentiment? Oh yeah, I forgot his campaign called Canada and told the ambassador that Obama was only using “campaign rhetoric” when he spoke out against NAFTA. This statement may confirm to us that he is in favor of NAFTA after all.
Back to the issue I wanted to talk about though, and that is Obama’s preconceived notions about middle class America and how people who lose their jobs turn bitter toward people who aren’t like them. Is this what Obama meant when he said that America needs to have a conversation about race? He is telling Americans that yes, we may be racists and we may be bitter but it isn’t our fault. It is America’s fault. But it is okay now because Obama understands what makes us the way we are. Obama can heal us from America and can heal our souls. This doesn’t sound like a conversation, it sounds like a lecture.
This is not the first time that a member of the Obama household has said something that makes you think that he believes the middle class is filled with racists. Remember this quote from Michelle Obama?
“Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance… That’s America.
My next question becomes this, is this what the Obama’s are teaching their children?
Another question. If people who are bitter turn towards the bible, does that explain why Barack Obama turned to the Reverend Jeremiah Wright? Is Obama bitter towards America and that is why he considers Reverend Wright his spiritual leader?
My family is a small town middle class family and I take offense to his generalization. People who feel the way that I do about immigration are not anti-immigration as Obama stated, we are however anti illegal immigration. There is a huge difference and I can’t for the life of me understand how some people can not understand the difference.
I have been laid off five times in my life. I understand what it feels like to lose my job and not know what the future holds. At the risk of taking this post off topic, let me share with you a personal story. I think I can bring this post back on topic. It is the story about the last time I was laid off.
Times had gotten tough where I last worked. Business was very slow and we had been through several layoffs. I started there as an electrical technician and had worked my way up into testing and troubleshooting of the equipment. After three production managers who were hired from outside quit because the CEO was very tough to work for I decided to put my name in for the job. I didn’t want to have to prove myself to a new boss again. I was given the job and now was production manager and was still doing final test.
As I said business had become slow. One Monday a friend of the CEO was brought in as a new sales and service man. I was told to train him on how to do final test. I was told they needed a backup in case I was out. In the five years I was there I had only taken one vacation because we were so busy for much of the time. I had never taken an unplanned absence. No backup plan was necessary. I was training my replacement and I knew it. I told a few close people there that I was the next to go. A couple realized that this was probably true, the others just laughed and told me to stop the crazy talk.
The very next Monday when I got to work in the morning I went to unlock the door to let everyone in. My key didn’t work. I knew it was my last day. So did the people who had taken my warning serious the week before. The others just said it was a coincidence. I sat outside with everyone else until the CEO got there, said hello as he gave me a short glance, and then opened the door.
I was given the “privilege” of working about six hours all the while knowing what was coming. While I was helping a woman who worked for me, a woman who was sceptical of my impending doom, the CEO came out to the floor and said to me that he needed to see me as soon as I was done, he turned and walked away, back up to his office. I glanced at the woman and said, “this is it.” She told me to stop it.
It was it. I was handed a paper that told me that the company was eliminating my position and that there were no jobs available that I was qualified to do. That was bullshit, without trying to brag, I could do any job in there. I was given allowed to work almost all day knowing that I was going to be laid off and then I was allowed the final indignity of walking back out to the floor and cleaning out my desk as everyone watched. The CEO couldn’t even afford me the dignity of letting me wait until everyone else had gone home. I was hurt and embarrassed.
Was I bitter? You are damn right I was. But Obama is wrong about why I was bitter and who I was bitter towards. Was I bitter about immigrants or America or free trade? HELL NO! I was bitter towards the blue eyed, blond, white man who had just handed me a paper telling me I was no longer needed by the company. I wasn’t bitter toward immigrants. I wasn’t cursing free trade or America because I lost my job.
But bitterness subsides and I became filled with a sense of worthlessness because I felt as though I was no longer a functioning member of society. Not to mention that I was no longer helping to provide for my family.
Motivation takes over after the initial shock wears off and then it’s time to get back into the game. Rub some dirt on it and get ready to play.
That is what really bothers me about Obama’s comments. I, and most like me, do not turn to guns or the bible ( he makes that sound like a bad thing), we do not use our jobless status to become a justification for racist feelings. We simply regroup and carry on. The fact that Obama doesn’t think we can rebound when we are hit with adversity really shows me that he is not in touch with everyday people. The fact that he thinks we need him to help us turn our lives around when times get difficult is arrogant.
Today Obama has been in full Hillary Clinton type spin control mode to try and explain what he meant. It is obvious to me what he meant. He said it, he meant it. Isn’t it funny when politicians or their campaigns have to “clarify” what they mean?
Obama said the middle class was bitter because of job loss and that the bitterness led people into the arms of guns and the bible, he also said that it led middle class Americans into justifying their apathy towards people who are not like them and into anti-immigration bigotry. It is pretty clear to me where he stands and what he thinks of middle class America. This is more than just misspeaking, there is a growing pattern of this type of thought between Barack and Michelle Obama, and who knows what they are teaching their little girls.
The media has been focusing their attention on the fact that Obama called the middle class bitter. I find what he claims this bitterness leads the middle class into to be the real story here.
I find this all terribly offensive.
Bill Clinton Lied About Hillary’s Lies
Newsflash, the Clinton’s lie! It isn’t their fault, they can’t help themselves. Lying is in their blood. Bill Clinton tried to cover up for Hillary’s Bosnia lie about landing under sniper fire by lying about Hillary’s lie. Here is what he said:
“A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me,” Bill Clinton said in Boonville, Ind. “But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995.”
There is only one problem with this statement, it is a lie. Hillary Clinton didn’t “misspeak” or “misremember”, she deliberately lied about he Bosnia trip to show us that she had the experience to be president. We know she deliberately lied because it was not a mistake she told one time while she was tired, she told the story several times. The Bosnia sniper fire story was part of her stump speech all across the country and she used it many times. Unless she “misspoke” every time she gave this speech she is lying.
The Clinton’s continue to lie, and they will continue to lie until they are in the white house, and then even after.
The Clinton’s must believe that the American people are stupid, or they don’t believe that the media will call them on it. They have gotten away with lying for so long that they just assume they will continue to get away with it. It’s either that or they have lied so much that they no longer even know what the truth is.
A California lawmaker has proposed raising the tax on a can of beer from 2 cents a can to 30 cents a can. This amounts to a 1500% increase in the tax on beer. Now it looks like this bill has absolutely no chance of going anywhere and looks to be dead on arrival, but I want to look at the justification for the proposed increase.
“The people who use alcohol should pay for part of the cost to society, just like we’ve accepted that concept with tobacco,” Beall said.
The justification is taken from the fact that Americans have “accepted” the cigarette taxes. I don’t think it has been accepted, rather it has been forced down smoker’s throats. Lawmakers know that people who are addicted to tobacco will pay anything to smoke so they screw them over every chance they get.
Now they are going after another behavior that they don’t approve of. But this won’t be the end of it. They will keep taxing what they consider to be bad behavior. Non-smokers laughed at smokers because it didn’t affect them, but it isn’t going to stop there and this is further proof.
Keep laughing, sooner or later they will come after a habit or a hobby or a behavior that you enjoy. It won’t seem so funny then. You won’t be laughing any more.
Massachusetts House Approves Massive Tax Increase
Who didn’t see this coming when Deval Patrick became governor of Massachusetts? Liberals get upset when you call them tax and spend Democrats, yet they prove it time and time again. Governor Patrick ran on the promise of property tax relief. Shortly after taking the oath of office he informed Massachusetts voters that he couldn’t come through on his promise. He just couldn’t find any spending to cut.
Now the Massachusetts house has approved a massive tax increase. Surprise, surprise.
House lawmakers last night gave approval to $392 million in tax increases for smokers and the state’s largest corporations, providing Governor Deval Patrick with a major political victory
Don’t you love how they call a tax increase a political victory? What do you think Massachusetts residents? Does this feel like a victory to you? This will increase the cigarette tax another $1.00 a pack to $2.51 a pack. Once again smokers take a huge hit just to pay for the over-indulgent state government.
Those businesses that don’t decide to relocate to a state that is much more business friendly causing workers to lose their jobs and thus hurting the economy and destroying the revenue streams that Massachusetts is trying to increase will simply pass the increased business costs on to the consumer. So those of you who suffer from class envy and want to see businesses hurt, remember you will be paying the price, not the businesses.
And they wonder why we call them tax and spend liberals. They show us why every time.
San Francisco’s Handgun Ban Overturned
Thisis a victory for gun owners all across the country. An important victory for the protectors of and the believers in the second amendment. San Fransisco voters approved banning handguns in the city. The NRA sued on behalf of gun owners and the high court in California has ruled the ban unconstitutional. I know what the proponents of the ban are going to say. They are going to claim that the wishes of the people have been thwarted. The fact is that just because a majority of people approve a law doesn’t mean it will become law if it is judged to be unconstitutional. The people can not vote on an unconstitutional law thereby changing the constitution. There is a process for changing the constitution and it is called amending the constitution. Even in San Fransisco it looks as though we still have some semblance of sanity and constitutional law left.
would have forbidden San Francisco residents to possess handguns, exempting only law enforcement officers and others who needed guns for professional purposes. It would have also prohibited the manufacture, sale or distribution of any type of firearms or ammunition in San Francisco.
While this was being billed as a handgun ban, you can see above that the law would have gone well beyond handguns. All firearms would have been banned in San Fransisco.
The state courts recognized that “law-abiding citizens are part of the solution, not part of the problem of violent crime,” said Chuck Michel, lawyer for the plaintiffs in the NRA suit. “The authority of local cities to over-regulate firearms is very limited.”
I still can’t get over the fact that this happened in San Fransisco. It is totally believable that the residents would want to ban firearms in San Fransisco with all the moonbats out there. But I am totally surprised that the law was overturned.
Next up is Washington D.C., if this is any indication, things are beginning to look brighter for gun owners and the constitution all over the United States.
Minnesota School is Teaching Islam
A tax payer funded school in Minnesota is teaching Islam to it’s students. A substitute teacher has reported that the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy has blurred the lines between the separation of church and state.
The separation of church and state has become the rallying cry of atheists everywhere who are afraid that their child may even hear the word “God.” The truth is that the phrase “separation of church and state” does not appear in the constitution and the constitution never meant to eliminate all references to God. In fact it meant just the opposite when the constitution reads ” or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” when addressing religion. A part of the amendment almost totally forgotten in today’s America.
The term “separation of church and state” comes from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptists in 1802. Liberal judges in 1947 turned to this letter to interpret the constitution. Instead of using the words the founding fathers agreed to in the constitution these judges went to an outside source to interpret the constitution. This judge imposed his personal preference on the American people instead of interpreting the words of the constitution. He failed his sworn duty to the constitution. He overstepped his bounds.
Now for the sake of this argument we are going to presume that this wall of separation exists because for all intents and purposes it does now exist. It has become a common law I guess.
Here we read about a school in Minnesota that is teaching an Islamic agenda. I wouldn’t have a problem with that if this was a private school, but it is taxpayer funded. Here is what a substitute teacher saw while at the school:
“I’ve been in a lot of schools and I’ve never been in a school where they had washing rituals, or they had prayer, or where they had a room where you had to take your shoes off,” Getz said.
How can this be allowed under the “separation of church and state?” Why is one religion acceptable while others aren’t?
The school also requires students to learn Arabic as a second language. Like I wrote above I don’t care if this school teaches this religion any more that I care about Catholic schools teaching Catholicism, but taxpayers shouldn’t be funding this school. Not if there is a “separation of church and state.” This school also receives funding from sponsored by Islamic Relief USA, so any claims the school makes that it doesn’t endorse a religion are bogus.
The school is also breaking a state law. The school does not fly the American flag. The school director says it is because he doesn’t know how to use it. WOW! He is in charge of teaching children? Nobody else in the school knows how to use a flagpole?

The above video is from NHGOP. Below you can read the full article that also appeared on the New Hampshire Republican party’s website:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Failed former Governor and Democrat Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen is back to her old tricks. Today, Shaheen is attempting to mislead voters about her record on taxes by blaming Washington for the current state of New Hampshire’s economy.
In an op-ed in the New Hampshire Union Leader, Shaheen argues that it’s the failed policies of Washington that are the underlying reason why “… New Hampshire families fell further and further behind…”. (New Hampshire Union Leader, 4/2/08)
Shaheen continues by noting, “We need new leadership in Washington to take our country in a new direction. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll fight to restore the middle class and make the economy work for New Hampshire families again…”. (New Hampshire Union Leader, 4/2/08)
Oh really? So Shaheen’s tax increases have nothing to do with what she calls “the crisis facing middle-class families” that “has been years in the making”? (New Hampshire Union Leader, 4/2/08)
As for Washington and the tax cuts Shaheen’s op-ed calls “failed economic policies of the Bush administration” — Shaheen herself supported them in 2002. The Hartford Couranteven reported, “In New Hampshire, Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, locked in a tight race with Rep. John E. Sununu, praised the Bush tax cuts.” (Hartford Courant, 11/8/02)
Is the new direction Shaheen wants to take the country in similar to the direction she took New Hampshire in? In 1999, Shaheen signed a statewide property tax — the FIRST STATEWIDE TAX in New Hampshire.
- Shaheen also proposed a cigarette tax increase.
- The same year, Shaheen proposed a 4.5 percent capital gains tax.
- In 2001, Shaheen proposed a 2.5 percent sales tax.
- And, in 2000, Shaheen vetoed a repeal of the inheritance tax in New Hampshire, which has the nation’s third highest inheritance tax.
“Last Wednesday’s op-ed is nothing more than a smokescreen Jeanne Shaheen is trying to erect in an effort to cover up her true record,” NRSC Communications Director Rebecca Fisher said. “Jeanne Shaheen is being utterly disingenuous in a failing attempt to play politics with issues that matter to New Hampshire voters.”
Jeanne Shaheen, who instituted the statewide property tax, is now running for the US senate against John Sununu. She must be stopped. New Hampshire voters, ask yourself if we really need to send such a fiscally irresponsible, tax and spend liberal to the senate.
The Earth Will Start Cooling in 2008
Global cooling in ’08. It may sound like a campaign slogan, but it could quite possibly be the truth. According to a leading scientist the earth will begin cooling in 2008.
The head of the World Meteorological Organisation said La Nina – the weather phenomenon which is cooling the Pacific – is likely to trigger a small drop in average global temperatures compared with last year.
The prediction – which follows a bitterly cold winter in China and the Arctic – is prompting some sceptics to question the theory of climate change.
Did this article just admit that climate change is only a theory? If it is a theory than that means it isn’t science. How did that get by the editors? So let me see if I have this right. The earth is warming, we are told. Yet China and the Arctic suffered a bitterly cold Winter. Most scientists “forget” to mention the below average cold of these two regions. It doesn’t fit their mold.
Naturally the alarmists say that the recent cooling trend has nothing to do with climate change. They claim that while the earth may cool slightly, that the earth is still too hot.
However, the World Meteorological Organisation insists that this year’s cooling has nothing to do with global climate change.
In fact, this year’s temperatures could still be way above the average – and it is possible that 2008 will exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.
The article even goes on to mention the idea that the sun’s output affects the temperature on the earth. HOLY SHIT? Why didn’t I think of that? Wait a minute, I did. It isn’t too much of a stretch to think that the sun may heat the earth.
Unfortunately most scientists who disagree with the global warming hoax are too afraid that they will lose their federal grant money for their research so they keep their opinions to themselves. The alarmists such as Al Gore and other politicians know there is too much money at stake in the form of taxes so the global warming dissenters are being either bought off, or probably more acurately stated, bribed to shut up with the threat of the loss of federal money. Scientists either shut up or tow the line to protect their “jobs.” Either way, we are screwed.
So the heat will remain on, Americans will be guilted into paying more taxes, Al Gore will continue to get rich, and stories like this one will be ignored.
The American people are going to get fleeced, big time. The government and the people like Al Gore who own carbon offset companies will continue to bleed us dry.
How can anybody actually be falling for this shit? We are supposed to pay a carbon offset tax so that some company can go out and plant trees. WAKE UP! If you want to plant a tree, go plant a fuckin’ tree. You better do it now, and not because the planet will die if you don’t, but because you won’t be able to afford to plant a tree after they get through with you.
I can’t believe that anyone would listen to Al Gore, a man who uses 20 times the energy that the average American uses in one year in his home alone. Some months alone he consumes twice as much energy as the average American does in a full year. Coupled with the fact that he flies everwhere in a private jet while telling us we have to sacrifice.
FUCK YOU AL GORE! FUCK YOU!
Sorry, I got a little “hot” under the collar there. I feel better now.
