Bill de Blasio threatens to sue Donald Trump if he relocates immigrants to his sanctuary city
For several years now Democrats have been promoting sanctuary cities where illegal immigrants can migrate to and not have to worry about being deported because these cities would not enforce federal immigration law. These same Democrats have vowed not to allow the President to build a wall on the southern border and they want all deportations stopped.
So the other day Donald Trump called their bluff and said if they were unwilling to negotiate he would be forced to take the Democrats up on their offer and send the illegal immigrants to the sanctuary cities where they have been promised a welcome reception for years.
You would think the Democrats would be on television gloating about their victory and how they stopped the President from deporting illegal immigrants and forced him to relocate them in the United States but that was not so because if Donald Trump is for something than the Democrats have sworn to oppose that something. While once they called Donald Trump’s policies in regards to illegal immigration heartless they have done a complete reversal and are calling this new proposal heartless.
Yesterday we saw Cher start spouting talking points Republicans have been using for years to voice her opposition to sending illegal immigrants into her city, and yes this is the same Cher who once said she would take dreamers into her home and urged everybody to do the same.
Today it might have gotten even stranger because New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said he will sue Donald Trump if the President tries to use his sanctuary city as a sanctuary city. Here is more:
Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that President Trump’s plan to send undocumented immigrants to sanctuary cities like New York is illegal and vowed to fight it in court.
“It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal. We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court,” de Blasio said.
“I remember vividly the day the Trump administration, when he said he was going to cut our security funding because we did not ask for documentation status, because we would not cooperate with everything ICE was doing,” he added.
“We said we would go to court to stop it and we did.”
Bill de Blasio apparently does not even note the irony and contradiction in his own statement: he claims what Donald Trump is doing is illegal while neglecting the fact that refusing to enforce federal law is illegal, but that is not the most ironic part of his statement. On one hand Bill de Blasio sued the President to keep federal funding even though New York was a sanctuary city, and now on the other hand he is threatening to sue the President if he makes good on New York’s promise to be a sanctuary city.
These people have become so blinded with hatred that they are not seeing or thinking clearly any more. They do not even realize they are now fighting against illegal immigrants and that is because the Democrats never really cared about the illegal immigrants, they only cared about taking the opposite position as the President. Now their opposition to Donald Trump has turned them against the illegal immigrants.
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
It has been quite entertaining to watch the Democrats backtrack from their positions on sanctuary cities ever since Donald Trump trolled them with the “threat” to take them up on their offer to house illegal immigrants.
Because Donald Trump suggested this idea Democrats have to oppose it for they have vowed to resist everything the President tries to do. The response has been priceless as the Democrats opposition goes along the lines of; how dare you willingly put illegal immigrants in cities that promised to shelter them from your policies.
After two years of hearing about how Donald Trump was treating illegal immigrants inhumanely at the border these same people are trying to say it is inhumane to relocate them in cities that said they would take them.
But I think the best response comes from Cher, who tweeted the following:
In this one tweet Cher is suddenly sounding quite a bit like a Republican voter. This is exactly what conservatives have been arguing for years, we cannot afford to take care of illegal immigrants and we should not take care of them until after all homeless Americans are cared for.
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen liberals on social media argue that this is not an either/or proposition and that America can take care of her own and illegal immigrants. But that was when they thought this was a Texas problem and now that there is a chance it could hit close to home we find out what hypocrites people like Cher really are.
I do not know if this is what Donald Trump’s goal was but I think it was and the liberals walked right into the trap.

Here is Dean Lewis performing “Be Alright” live from 2018:
There is some debate as to whether or not this is still on the table but yesterday it was reported that Donald Trump floated the idea of sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities if a solution to the border crisis cannot be agreed upon.
Some reports say that Homeland Security put the kibosh on the idea while the President said it was still on the table and reiterated the fact that he would do this if the Democrats do not work with him on a solution.
That sounds like a threat–and the media has portrayed it as a threat–if it were not for the fact that these cities have declared themselves a refuge for illegal immigrants, it seems it would be more accurate to say Donald Trump is taking them up on their offer. These are illegal immigrants who are set to be released pending hearing anyway, why not send them to a place which has already told them they are welcome?
But of course if Donald Trump proposes something it cannot be a good idea according to the Democrats, who have vowed to resist everything, and so this idea has been called an “assault on human dignity” and a notion that is “unworthy of the President of the United States” by such people as Nancy Pelosi.
Of course the idea of settling refuges is nothing new, in fact this is what the Counsel of Foreign Relations says on its website:
Refugees are resettled in one of approximately 190 communities across the country, though there are several states that generally resettle higher numbers than others. According to the State Department, Texas, Washington, and Ohio took in the highest number of refugees in fiscal year 2018, making up 20 percent of all refugee admissions that year.
So resettling refugees across the nation is nothing new and the Democrats have not complained about it in the past. In fact I would guess that in the past the Democrats would have argued taking refugees and relocating them in a community that wants them so they can start a new life is beneficial to their dignity, not an assault on human dignity. And yet here they are taking the opposite position…
Here is my take: this is not going to happen and Donald Trump knows it is not going to happen. The President was trolling the Democrats for a reaction and as usual they overreacted exactly the way he knew they would and in the process exposed themselves once again.

While the topic of the now-debunked alleged collusion between Russia and Donald Trump during the 2016 election has dominated the news for over two years the media has ignored a brewing scandal within the Democratic party and its possible shady ties to Ukraine.
In case you have not heard, and you probably have not if you only get your news from the mainstream media, Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee were conspiring with Ukraine to influence the 2016 election, and most recently we found out Joe Biden got a Ukrainian prosecutor fired because he was investigating Hunter Biden.
Of course the bigger story there is that after all the investigations into the allegations of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia we learned that not only was there no collusion there but that the collusion was actually on the other side and it involved Ukraine but no news outlets found this newsworthy at all and the Republicans were nowhere to be heard.
I have written in the past that I thought it was possible the Democrats would rue the day they came up with this false Russian narrative because it could come back to bite them in the end and it seems like that might be in the process of happening.
William Barr is opening up an investigation into the conduct of the FBI during the 2016 election for spying on Donald Trump and Devin Nunes is referring criminal charges against eight individuals to the Department of Justice over FISA abuses during the 2016 election and now we have an Obama White House lawyer being indicted for lying about his ties to Ukraine.
Here is more:
Former Obama administration White House counsel Greg Craig has been indicted by the Department of Justice with making false statements and concealing material information about his activities on behalf of Ukraine. Lawyers for Craig had expected their client to be charged in a foreign lobbying investigation spun off from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe
Craig, 74, was indicted by a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for willfully falsifying and concealing material facts from the National Security Division’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Unit and for making false and misleading statements to the FARA Unit, according to a release by the DOJ. The maximum penalties for the charged offenses are, respectively, five years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine, and five years’ imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
Remember how giddy the left was when news broke that Robert Mueller spun off investigations during his probe because they figured it meant he had so much dirt on Donald Trump he could not handle it all by himself? I guess that was not the case after all…
As I wrote above it looks like the tide is starting to turn and I think the Democrats should start getting a little nervous, this could just be the beginning.

How about we lighten it up a little bit today? This video is making the rounds so you probably already saw it but I thought I would share it anyway.
Here Maxine Waters, who is on the Financial Services Committee by the way, decides she is going to grill the banksters about their roll in the student loan business and she asks them what they intend to do about helping people who cannot afford their student loans.
The first two gently tell her they got out of the student loan business years ago and then the third guy tells her the same and then reminds Maxine Waters that the government took over the student loan business in 2010.
Yes it is funny to watch Maxine Waters embarrassed like that, but at the same time it is scary because you would like to think that somebody on the Financial Services Committee would know this but of course she did not.
She sure did change the subject quickly…
Back in January Donald Trump instituted a policy whereby some asylum seekers were sent back into Mexico while they awaited their court date in the United States. The President was set to expand this program but now it is on hold because a Federal Judge has issued an injunction against the policy.
Here is more:
A U.S. judge on Monday halted the Trump administration’s policy of sending some asylum seekers back across the southern border to wait out their cases in Mexico, stopping a program the government planned to expand to stem a recent flood of migrants.
The ruling is slated to take effect on Friday, according to the order by U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg in San Francisco. The preliminary injunction will apply nationwide.
Seeborg said the Immigration and Nationalization Act, however, does not authorize the government to return asylum seekers to Mexico the way the government has applied it.
He also said the policy lacks safeguards to protect refugees from threats to their life or freedom.
Here is what Donald Trump had to say about this decision:
In a late night tweet, U.S. President Donald Trump said, “A 9th Circuit Judge just ruled that Mexico is too dangerous for migrants. So unfair to the U.S. OUT OF CONTROL!”
The theory behind this policy is simple and it makes sense. Many people who cross the border illegally never show up for their court date so this would force them to go to the hearing if they really want to come to the United States and live here legally.
But this was a 9th Circuit Court Judge so it was to be expected. Now it is on to appeal and just like almost everything else Donald Trump tries to do this policy has an eventual date with the Supreme Court, but until then it is business as usual at the border.

Conservative majority on the Supreme Court? Not so fast
When Donald Trump first nominated Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court there were concerned voices out there on the right warning that this nominee was not the conservative he was being touted as. Brett Kavanaugh is weak on privacy and other issues, and he was the establishment pick.
Unfortunately the false accusations came along and with it a critical analysis of his positions was dropped as conservatives rallied around the nominee and came to his defense. These accusations unified the support on the right for Brett Kavanaugh and feeling the need to defend him at all costs, understandably, because of the nature of the attacks against him any concerns about how the nominee would rule was forgotten.
Now, according to this article, it looks as if those concerns are coming true. Here is more:
Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s newest member, Brett Kavanaugh, have voted in tandem on nearly every case that’s come before them since Kavanaugh joined the court in October. They’ve been more likely to side with the court’s liberal justices than its other conservatives.
The two justices, both alumni of the same District of Columbia-based federal appeals court, have split publicly only once in 25 official decisions. Their partnership has extended, though less reliably, to orders the court has issued on abortion funding, immigration and the death penalty in the six months since Kavanaugh’s bitter Senate confirmation battle ended in a 50-48 vote.
Roberts and Kavanaugh have obvious reasons for their reluctance to join the court’s three other conservatives in ideological harmony. The chief justice has voiced concern about the court being viewed as just another political branch of government. Kavanaugh, a former top White House official under President George W. Bush who was accused of a 1980s sexual assault during his confirmation, may just be laying low.
Whatever their reasons, the chief justice and the newest justice together have provided ballast for a court in transition. Following Kavanaugh’s replacement of retired Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy, Roberts has become the court’s swing vote, and Kavanaugh often appears to be his wingman.
Chief Justice John Roberts has already become a major disappointment during his time on the Supreme Court and it looks as if Brett Kavanaugh is taking the same path.

The Cure were officially, and finally, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the end of March so I have decided to share their whole induction set with you. They kicked off the set with Shake Dog Shake, which was a tribute to Andy Anderson who recently passed away, then went into A Forest, Lovesong, Just Like Heaven, and Boys Don’t Cry.
