Barack Obama Supports Giving Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Aliens
Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell
In last weeks debate Barack Obama, while taking a shot at Hillary, said what the American people want is straight answers to questions. Then he was asked about whether he supported handing out driver’s licenses to ILLEGAL aliens, his answer wasn’t so forthcoming:
“On the issue that apparently tripped up Senator Clinton earlier, the issue of driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, I take it, Senator Obama, you support giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. Is that right?” asked Blitzer.
“When I was a state senator in Illinois, I voted to require that illegal aliens get trained, get a license, get insurance to protect public safety. That was my intention,” said Obama.
“And – but I have to make sure that people understand. The problem we have here is not driver’s licenses. Undocumented workers do not come here to drive. They don’t go – they’re not coming here to go to the In-N-Out Burger. That’s not the reason they’re here,” he said.
“They’re here to work. And so instead of being distracting by what has now become a wedge issue, let’s focus on actually solving the problem that this administration, the Bush administration, had done nothing about it,” Obama added.
“Well, let’s go through everybody because I want to be precise,” said Blitzer. “Do you support or oppose driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants?”
Obama responded: “I am not proposing that that’s what we do. What I’m saying is that we can’t …”
At this evasion, the audience started laughing. “No, no, no, no,” said Obama. “Look, I have already said, I support the notion that we have to deal with public safety and that driver’s licenses at the same level can make that happen. But what I also know … Wolf, is that if we keep on getting distracted by this problem, then we are not solving it.”
Blitzer then quizzed the other candidates for a “yes or no answer.” Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards said he opposed giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, while noting that once he put people on a “path to citizenship,” he would let them get licenses. As in the earlier debate, Dodd said he opposed giving licenses to illegal aliens.
Then Blitzer put the question to Obama again. “Senator Obama, yes or no?” he asked.
“Yes,” said Obama.
So much for straight answers to questions, huh? At least when pressed he finally gave us his position, a position that 77% of Americans disagree with by the way. Hillary waited until the governor of her state was forced to drop his attempt at handing out voter ID’s, I mean driver’s licenses to illegals before she lied and took a definative stance against the policy on the very same day Spitzer gave up on this issue. But the question to me remains, how the hell could Obama get tripped up by the same question that felled Hillary just two weeks ago? Does this just show us his true inexperience? I think that on top of how wrong he is on this issue, this also shows us he doesn’t have the political savvy he hopes to someday have. He is truly not ready for prime time.

Hurricane Katrina’s Contribution to Man-made Global Warming
Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell
I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. I am talking about the effects of a NATURAL disaster being credited with contributing to global warming. More notably, Hurricane Katrina. No matter how liberal you are, and how much you want to blame George W Bush and his environmental policies for creating Hurricane Katrina it is bullshit, plain and simple. Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster. For those of you too blinded by liberalism to understand that, let me spell it out for you. A natural disaster is something that was created or formed through nature. Here is the dictionary.com definition:
any event or force of nature that has catastrophic consequences, such as avalanche, earthquake, flood, forest fire, hurricane, lightning, tornado, tsunami, and volcanic eruption
Nature is an ongoing process. Nature has a tendency to weed out the weak, nature also has a way of strengthening the survivors. Out of disasters comes rebirth. Nature will always continue, nature will always adapt. So when I hear nature now being blamed for helping to destroy the planet I have to laugh. It is not enough for the liberals to blame global warming on man, they must also now blame nature. Or perhaps the liberals have forgotten that man is supposedly responsible for destroying the planet and in their haste they forgot that Katrina was nature, and not man. Just trust the liberals, they know what is best for us.
From the New Hampshire Union Leader we can read this:
Hurricane Katrina destroyed so many trees in 2005 that as they decay, they will emit enough carbon to equal the net amount of carbon all forests in the United States take in each year, new research from the University of New Hampshire shows.
When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005, it killed or damaged more than 300 million trees that are expected to send about 105 million metric tons of carbon into the atmosphere as they decompose, according to a paper co-authored by UNH associate professor George Hurtt and published in the academic journal Science.
Also according to the article:
Some researchers estimate that as global warming progresses, storms will get stronger and happen more often, Hurtt said, which could create a cycle of greater damage, which in turn puts more carbon into the atmosphere and thus creates even stronger storms.
Okay, these liberals are running around in circles now. Let me see if I can straighten this out. Man is creating global warming by doing whatever it is that man does. Hurricanes are creating global warming for doing what they do. Man will keep destroying the planet, hurricanes will keep hitting the planet. Man will make the hurricanes stronger, stronger hurricanes will destroy the planet even further than man already has, man is too blame for the hurricanes getting stronger because, well, I dont know why, I guess I have failed at straightening this bullshit out.
Do you see how absurd this is? Man is not doing anything that could possibly lead to stronger hurricanes.
“This situation with these hurricanes is a factor that hasn’t been considered yet that could make any amount of global warming that might happen due to human emissions even worse,” said Hurtt, who works at UNH’s Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space.
In other words, the situation is much more grim than previously thought. Only Al Gore and the other politicians can save us now. We must open up our wallets and pocketbooks and pay the politicians RIGHT NOW, so they can save us, otherwise the planet is doomed.
Bullshit.
I leave you with this:
“With all the interest in carbon and global warming, you’re going to see more people, including us, trying to quantify the carbon footprint of other natural disasters,” Hurtt said.
Can you say California wildfires?
I think you can.
War Protesters in Olympia Washington try to Deny Military Equipment for the Soldiers
Iraq war veterans who recently returned from Iraq received a rather large welcome when they came to Olympia Washington. Unfortunately it wasn’t the welcome they deserved, it was a protest against them.
More than 40 people were arrested as anti-war protesters tried to block shipments of military gear for an Army Stryker brigade that returned recently to nearby Fort Lewis from Iraq, police said.
Considering the left is telling us that the troops lack the proper equipment to fight the war I find it ironic that these people would try to take away the soldier’s equipment. These same group of people protested these same troops when they were deployed to Iraq, now they don’t want them back?
Just look at the lengths they went to to block the military gear:
Demonstrators also poured cement over railroad tracks at the port but were unsuccessful in halting trains.
Those trains were carrying the equipment of our soldiers, but they saw fit to disrupt it. This makes no sense to me. But they justify it by saying that the protesters support the troops, but not the equipment. I am not making this up. First the left said they support the troops, not the mission, now they are saying they support the troops, but not the equipment:
Andrew Yankey, a spokesman for the protest group, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the demonstrators weren’t protesting the soldiers, just the equipment that he said is likely being sent back for repair before being shipped out again.
“The soldiers have made it home, and we’re really glad about that,” he said. “This is about the military equipment. As long as the government refuses to listen to the will of the vast majority of people who want an end to this war, it’s not safe to allow the military to have its hands on this equipment because it will continue to support the war in Iraq.”
“We refuse to allow our ports to enable this illegal, immoral war,” he said.
Did you catch the part where this moron said it wasn’t safe to allow the military to have it’s hands on this equipment? Is it just me or is there a real disconnect here? The Democrats and the media have told us that the troops don’t have the equipment that they need and that they are unsafe because of that. Now this group of protesters comes along and tells us it is not safe to send this equipment back to the military because it might be redeployed to Iraq, all the while telling us they support the troops? I can’t get over the fact that this moron actually said what he did, it boggles the mind to think about.
Protester Sandy Mayes said that the group did not condone the damage that was done downtown, but noted that most of the protesters “have been engaging in peaceful, nonviolent resistance.”
“These brave, brave people keep standing up to block these convoys to make a statement, knowing they will take abuse,” she said.
Pouring cement on railroad tracks is peaceful? Hell, I guess they were only exercising their right to free speech. It’s good to know we have “brave, brave people” standing up and trying to block military equipment from our soldiers.
This to me goes beyond protesting the war, this goes into downright hatred of the military. These people aren’t just anti-war, they are anti-troops also. They don’t understand why anybody would go into the military. They don’t understand the honor these men and women feel serving this country, they only believe these people had no other options in life but to join the military.
They despise the military, unless, of course, they are on a UN humanitarian mission. Then the military is okay.

Hollywood Conservatives? There May be More Than You Think
It would appear from reading this article that there may be more conservatives in Hollywood than we may think. Why then don’t we hear more from them? Because they are scared to death to come forward for fear of losing their credibility and their livelyhood.
“They learn very quickly, if they know what’s good for them, to donate to the Democratic Party,” said Andrew Breitbart, co-author of “Hollywood, Interrupted.” “If they were to donate to the Republican Party, they would be exposed to career-ending ridicule, period.”
Liberals, despite what they say, are the most intolerant people on the face of the earth. They don’t tolerate free choice (smoking, trans fats), they don’t tolerate free speech (political correctness), they don’t tolerate freedom of religion (banning all public displays of Christianity), but most of all, the do not tolerate conservatives. As a matter of fact, they hate conservatives. So is it any wonder that Hollywood conservatives keep quiet? They may be in a minority in Hollywood, but they are there.
Republican presidential candidates have been drawing support — and cash — from Hollywood celebrities, but few of the stars in super-liberal Tinseltown want to be publicly linked with the Grand Old Party.
One high-profile celebrity, when asked about her political views, even had her lawyers declare “our client’s rights of privacy and other legally protectable intangible rights” and warn that she should not be labeled a Republican.
In a way I can understand where they are coming from. Working in manufacturing, I am usually surrounded by liberals who feel Republicans do nothing but take care of the rich and I don’t usually debate politics at work. I keep to myself when it comes to politics. That’s kind of ironic, huh.
There are some actors who have publically supported Republicans.
Adam Sandler, who cast former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani in a cameo role in his 2003 movie “Anger Management,” has contributed $2,100 to Mr. Giuliani’s campaign. The two met recently on Mr. Sandler’s movie set in New York.
Former “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer and his wife also have tossed in $6,900 for the mayor.
However, they will not elaborate on their positions. The Washington Times article I linked to above tried to get actors who have been outed as conservatives to talk, but they are unwilling.
“Bo isn’t available … sorry,” said Bo Derek’s handler. “Mr. Costner is not available to be interviewed,” said Kevin Costner’s publicists. “I’m sorry, but unfortunately Mel is unavailable to contribute,” said Mel Gibson’s people.
“Please be advised that Ms. Hatcher is not a Republican, but more importantly does not choose to have her political affiliation or viewpoints on any particular candidate or issue in the current presidential campaign included in your proposed article,” lawyer Barry W. Tyerman said in an e-mail.
So conservatives are out there in Hollywood, they are just silent. It’s too bad actually because of all the hatred and vile comments we hear from such enlightened people such as Rosie O’Donnell that conservative actors, who have a platform to make a statement fear they have to be quiet and deny their political leanings.
Here are a few more Hollywood elites who have expressed their support for Republican candidates:
Hollywood producer Joel Surnow endorses Rudy
Robert Duvall endorses Rudy
While I wouldn’t ever consider Rudy a conservative, it still breaks the Hollywood mold for them to endorse any Republican.
Chuck Norris endorses Huckabee
Not all of Hollywood is liberal, but the vast majority and the loudest of them are. There ate Hollywood conservatives, but the all inclusive liberals have them so scared of career extortion and suicide that they must remain silent.
Liberals aren’t so all inclusive, are they?
A Message From New Hampshire Senator John Sununu
Here is a video I found on NHGOP. Senator Sununu faces a tough re-election battle in 2008. His Democrat opponent is most likely former Governor Jeanne Shaheen, the woman responsible for instituting a state wide property tax. Please remember this when going to the polls next November.
Massachusetts Middle School Cancels Field Trip to see Miracle on 34th Street Because of Objectionable Content Part 2
Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell
In case you missed part one of this story you can read it here.
This is a story that Michael Graham, a Boston talk show host has been hammering on the last couple of days. Naturally I thought this was post worthy so when I got home the other night I searched the internet for the article about this story, I found none. After two days of searching I found the letter the principal of McCall middle school in Massachusetts sent home to the parents of the seventh graders whose field trip to A Miracle On 34th Street was cancelled. That letter is linked in part one if you would like to read it just follow the link above.
After the story received allot of play on talk radio the story finally made the Boston Herald, so now I have more details and thought I would follow up on my first post.
“The people who complained were concerned about the very narrow focus on Santa Claus,” French said yesterday. “The ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ is not in any way, shape or form tied to our curriculum. That was brought to my attention by parents.”
“It would have been a nice experience, but parents can take their kids to that on their own,” French said. “Certainly, kids in Winchester get plenty of exposure to Santa Claus and all that Santa Claus represents and the gifts that he brings on Christmas morning. I don’t think they’re missing out much.”
So now the principal is in spin control mode. If you read the letter he sent out to the parents in my first post you will see he said the following in that letter:
the basic theme is objectionable to some members of our McCall Middle School
While I believe there are valid reasons for participating in such a trip, the objectionable nature of the content overrides these concerns.
He is now lying his ass off when he says it was cancelled because it didn’t fit the curriculum. He clearly stated that some people found the story objectionable and that is why he cancelled it. He didn’t state parents said the story didn’t fit the school’s curriculum.
Many of the normal parents are very upset at this turn of events.
“If you don’t want to send your child, don’t send your child, but don’t ruin it for the rest,” said one parent who requested anonymity. “All the kids were excited about it.”
That hits the nail on the head. When I was a child I had to bring in a permission slip to go on a field trip, if my parents didn’t want me to go on it then I didn’t get permission. I then either had to stay in school while the class went on the trip, or stay home on the day of the trip. There was no cancelling of a field trip because one child couldn’t go.
Seventh grade students at the school had their field trip cancelled because of objectionable material, yet in a strange twist, sixth grade students are allowed to go on a field trip to A Christmas Carol. Why?
French said the school will continue its annual trip to the North Shore Music Theatre’s “A Christmas Carol,” another holiday classic that parents have complained about in the past. But French said “A Christmas Carol” is about a season and the “human condition.”
“It is something we teach in the sixth-grade curriculum. They read an abridged version of the Dickens classic,” French said. “None of that is true for ‘Miracle on 34th Street.’ ”
It’s about a season. He is right there, it’s about the CHRISTMAS SEASON.
What a bunch of bullshit.
Check out the Boston Herald article for more.
Lowe’s Apologizes for “Family Trees”
I guess it is about time for the politically correct crowd to start fighting the “war on Christmas” again, so now it is time for me to begin fighting back. The opening salvo in this war was actually fired back in October, but now is when the real fight will get under way.
Lowes sent out their “Holiday” catalog and in it they referred to Christmas tree as family trees. Let me ask all you in the politically correct crowd a few questions, and I am talking about those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, I know allot of the politically correct do celebrate Christmas, but have been programmed to try to not offend anyone. So let me ask those of you who recieved the catalog who don’t celebrate Christmas, if you started thumbing through the catalog and saw Christmas trees in it would you reaaly be offended? Do you just feel like you should be offended? And lastly, if you saw the Christmas trees in the catalog, but they were called something else, does that make it less offensive? I mean, we all know they are really Christmas trees, so in your minds wouldn’t the proper thing to do have been to not put the trees in the “Holiday” catalog in the first place?
Lowe’s has come out and apologized for the family trees, here is the spokesman:
“That was a complete error,” Maureen Rich, a spokeswoman for Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse – which serves more than 13 million customers a week in its 1,400 stores across the nation – told Cybercast News Service. “Right now, we’re extremely disappointed in this breakdown in our own creative process.
“We are apologizing to customers today for any confusion our holiday catalog created,” Rich said
The best part about her apology is the fact that she is apologizing for the politically correct family tree, but she is still calling the catalog a holiday catalog. She goes on to say that the catalog encompasses holidays from October through December and that is why the catalog name will not change. It doesn’t matter to the politically correct crowd that 99% of the gifts bought over the holiday season are Christmas presents, and that the catalog is marketing Christmas as long as they don’t tell us they are marketing Christmas.
We don’t want to offend anyone.

Massachusetts Middle School Cancels Field Trip to see Miracle on 34th Street Because of Objectionable Content

This story has been updated, read part 2 here.
McCall Middle School in Winchester Massachusetts recently cancelled a field trip to see a live performance of A Miracle on 34th Street. Why you ask? I’m glad you asked. Because of the objectionable content of the play. That’s right, OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT. It appears as though at least one parent complained about the field trip and ruined it for everyone else. Here is the letter the gutless principal sent out to all parents announcing the cancellation of the harmless field-trip:
Dear 7th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Recently, I was asked why the entire 7th Grade is planning to participate in a field trip on December 19 to see a live performance of Miracle on 34th Street at the Stoneham Theatre when the basic theme is objectionable to some members of our McCall Middle School 7th Grade community. After conferring with the 7th Grade Team Leaders and my administrative colleagues across the school system, I have decided to cancel this field trip. While I believe there are valid reasons for participating in such a trip, the objectionable nature of the content overrides these concerns.
The 7th Graders have been notified about this decision in homerooms this morning. Any money students have paid to date has been returned to them by their homeroom teachersIf you have any questions or comments about this decision, please contact me at 781-xxx-xxxx.
Sincerely yours, Evander French, Jr., Principal.
The objectionable nature of the content? What is objectionable? I don’t know. Whatever happened to what used to happen when I was a child? If a student’s parents didn’t want their son or daughter going on a field trip they didn’t get permission and spent the day in school while the others went on the trip. I suppose we can’t have that nowadays because it will damage them for life by not being included so we must ruin everyone else’s good time.
Now let’s look at this a little deeper. Children in Massachusetts can’t go on a field trip to see A Miracle On 34th Street because of the objectionable content, yet here in New Hampshire students the same age CAN take a field trip to Planned Parenthood?
Children in Massachusetts can’t go on a field trip to A Miracle On 34th Street, but Barack Obama want to teach sex education to children in kindergarten?
Children in Massachusetts can’t go on a field trip to A Miracle on 34th Street, but a child the same age in Maine can get birth control without a parent’s knowledge?
Someone please explain to me how this can make any sense? I am really trying to understand how we got to this point as a nation. It is a sad state of affairs when it is politically incorrect to take students to see A Miracle On 34th Street but is is perfectly acceptable to take the same aged students to learn about abortion. Does the left really feel this amount of anger towards religion that they are unwilling to let their children even watch A Miracle On 34th Street, while at the same time pushing their pro choice agenda to children the same age?
Something has gone wrong in this country. I don’t know when or how it started, I don’t know how it became acceptable, I don’t know how it became mainstream, but I do know one thing.
We must stop it before it is too late.
Beware of Phantom Vibration Syndrome, It Could Kill You
This article warns us of the latest possible medical condition that could end life as we know it. Okay that might be going overboard, but what is the next big trauma that we will have to deal with? It’s technical term is Phantom Vibration Syndrome, more commonly called ringxiety. This is when you feel your phone vibrate in your pocket but you either don’t have your cell phone turned on or you not not even have your cell phone. I am not making this shit up. This article appeared above the fold on page one of today’s New Hampshire Union Leader. This is unbelievable, people feel their phones vibrate when they are not on and now we have a name for it. Just check out some excerpts from the article:
“I go to reach for my cell phone and it isn’t there,” said Ben Hastie, 18, of Merrimack, who has a Motorola Razor phone. “It happens all the time.”
Josh Weaver, 22, who works in Merrimack, has done the same thing.
“My cell phone wasn’t even on,” he said.
“I don’t know what it is,” said Andrea Robichaud, 23, a web designer in Merrimack who has checked her cellphone for incoming calls after experiencing a phantom vibration. “I just know that no one was calling.”
The horror. This sounds kind of like when you have been wearing a hat all day and then you take it off and it still feels as though you have it on so you try to adjust it. I will dub that problem removed hat discomfort syndrome. Really, who sits around and thinks this stuff up?
But it gets better/worse depending on your thinking, as a psychiatrist checks in:
Peter Tse, professor of psychological and brain sciences at Dartmouth College, said phantom vibration rings may happen because cell phone users develop a “template” in their heads.
“I have a template for my baby’s cry in my head, for example, and sometimes just by chance a random set of sounds will match it,” he said. “I will go to check, but the baby wasn’t crying. ”
He said the brain is constantly filtering out background information. Tse said sometimes when a person is monitoring or searching for something important to them — such as a cell phone call or the sound of their own name — some of this background information is picked up and matched to a mental template.
It’s called the cocktail party effect.
“When everyone’s talking at a cocktail party, if your name or anything close to your name comes up in the room, you easily pick up on that,” Tse said.
But false vibrations are less easily understood. Some neurologists compare it to the nerve sensations felt by amputees in the place of the missing limb.
It seems we are constantly being bombarded with trumped up dilemmas and disasters that we always have to be on guard of. This is just the latest syndrome in a constant barrage of potential disaster we are forced to listen to every day. Don’t you find it funny that many of these issues are political issues or are used for political reasons?
Here are some of the other issues we are supposed to live in fear of. The bird flu, the worse hurricane season predictions every year, trans fats, restless leg syndrome, global warming, global cooling, ADD, AADD. It seems there is a name for everything nowadays.
It’s hard to include Phantom Vibration Syndrome in the Nanny State world we are living in, this is just stupid, or is this the Nanny State gone awry?. Although when I think about it, reading an article like this makes me realize how absurd the world is becoming. When you have to have a name for thinking your phone is vibrating when it’s not, perhaps we have moved beyond the Nanny State. We have reached the point of having lost all of our common sense, maybe we didn’t lose it. Perhaps it has been taken away by the media and their constant reminders, we no longer have to think for ourselves. When the weather gets cold, the media tells us to bundle up, on the Fourth of July the media runs PSA’s telling us not to hold lighted fireworks, when the weather gets hot the media tell us to drink water. Hell, on the news tonight I was told if I wanted to save money I should leave my credit card at home so that I won’t succumb to impulse buying.
Anyway, I kind of drifted there, we now have a new syndrome and before you know it we will have a new drug. Perhaps it will be called Vibristop or something like that.
So what does Verizon have to say about this (yes, the article did talk to Verizon)?
David Thomson, a spokesman for Verizon Wireless, said phones should not vibrate unless there’s a call coming in.
“There is no reason why it should,” he said.
Thank God he cleared that up for me.
What else can I say? Does anyone else feel this is absurd?
Veterans for Peace Disrupt Veteran’s Day Ceremony in Boston
I find this story kind of sad actually. Boston had a Veteran’s Day parade, after the parade there was going to be a ceremonial laying of wreaths for every war from WWI all the way up to the Iraq war. That is when the ceremony got ugly. A group called Veterans For Peace teamed up with Code Pink to interupt the ceremony. In a protest of the Iraq war, the Veterans for peace shouted anti-war slogans and would not stop when asked by the police.
The Veterans For Peace and their supporters say this is a free speech issue, and they had their say. The ironic part here is that they didn’t allow the people who held the ceremony to continue with their ceremony in effect stifling the free speech of the people holding the ceremony.
Needless to say, this infuriated many of the veterans who were there to witness the ceremonies in their honor.
“This is not a political parade,” said Lawler, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and former Boston police officer, “it’s to show our veterans respect.”
This is a day meant to honor some of the same people who were protesting this event. The protesters are the ones who helped defend our right to a peaceful protest, and for that I am grateful. But I can’t help but wonder what they are trying to accomplish with this.
They are in effect dishonoring the troops who are fighting in Iraq right now. They are saying that what they sacrificed was somehow greater than what our soldiers fighting now are sacrificing. And I find that intolerable. The veterans protesting, and our soldiers fighting in Iraq have made choices and sacrifices that I never have and can never fully understand, and when I see these veterans trying to discredit what our soldiers are doing in Iraq it makes me sad.
I am a big supporter of the military and it saddens me to see a group of veterans politicize a holiday meant to honor them.
