Latest New Hampshire Presidential Poll (09/18/07)

September 18, 2007

The Republican race seems to be tightening back up as Mitt had a big lead not too long ago, also Fred Thompson looks to be gaining although he shunned the New Hampshire debates, something I thought would hurt him.

In the presidential primaries, Rasmussen said its poll found that Republicans Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani are in a statistical dead heat in New Hampshire, with Romney holding a 25 to 22 percent edge.

Fred Thompson was supported by 19 percent, John McCain by 12 percent, Mike Huckabee by 4 percent with 13 percent undecided.

As for the Democrat party, Hillary just keeps expanding her lead. This appears to be a runaway at this point. I have to believe that Obama exposed himself with his recent foreign policy gaffes, while Hillary manages to play both sides of the fence.

Rasmussen says it also polled 500 likely Democratic primary voters and found that Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama 40 to 17 percent with John Edwards backed by 14 percent and Bill Richardson, by 11 percent. It did not provide a percentage for undecided Democrats.

A Franklin Pierce poll, however, has Romney with a seven point lead. The Democrat poll is relatively the same as the Rasmussen poll above.

Separately, Franklin Pierce University/WBZ surveys of 400 likely Republican primary voters and 403 Democratic primary voters completed Sept. 11-14 show Romney and Clinton leading.

Romney leads Giuliani 30 to 23 percent, with McCain at 14 percent, Thompson at 8 percent, Ron Paul and possible candidate Newt Gingrich at 3 percent each, Huckabee at 2 percent, and Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback, Duncan Hunter and Chuck Hagel, who is not running, at 1 percent each with 12 percent undecided.

In a June FPU/WBZ poll, Romney led Giuliani, 27 to 18 percent with McCain at 17 percent.

On the Democratic side, Clinton leads Obama, 36 to 18 percent, with Edwards at 12 percent, Richardson at 10 percent, Al Gore, who is not a candidate, at 5 percent, Dennis Kucinich and Joe Biden at 3 percent each, with Chris Dodd and Mike Gravel at 1 percent each and 11 percent undecided.

Maryland Court Rules Against Gay Marriage

September 18, 2007

Today, on a vote of 4-3 Maryland’s supreme court upheld a state law that defined a marriage as being between a man and a woman. This, unlike what the liberals would have you believe, does not mean that gay marriage will be forever banned in Maryland. This does mean, however that the state will have to go through the proper steps in order to get it approved, unlike Massachusetts where the judiciary unlawfully forced gay marriage on the books. Gay Marriage is now allowed in Massachusetts even though the law the judges unlawfully told the legislature they had to write has never been written, but I digress. All this ruling does is send gay marriage to the legislature, where it belongs. Gay marriage laws can then be written if so desired, not forced upon the people.

“Our opinion should by no means be read to imply that the General Assembly may not grant and recognize for homosexual persons civil unions or the right to marry a person of the same sex,” Judge Glenn T. Harrell Jr. wrote for the four-judge majority, which also included Judges Dale R. Cathell, Clayton Greene Jr. and Alan M. Wilner.

Simply stated, if you want the law, write the law, don’t ask us to write it for you. This is the way it should be handled. Every branch of government has it’s specific role, and the judiciary in this case has told the legislature it wasn’t the job of the courts to write law. It is refreshing to see this happen for a change.

“We commend the court for upholding the law rather than imposing the views of a persistent minority. This is an outright rejection of judicial activism.

Exactly. But here is a dissenting view:

“The court decided that we are undeserving of the family protections given to married couples simply because we’re partners of the same sex. That’s simply not right.” Kebreau added, “We aren’t giving up. We’ll continue to fight for marriage in the legislature.”

First, the court did not decide you were undeserving of anything, the court said it was the legislature’s job to write laws, not their’s, and this is correct.

Second, the person above was correct to say that they will fight for marriage in the legislature, that is where they should have been fighting all along, not in the courts.

Hillary Clinton Admits her Healthcare Plan Treats Adults as if They Were Children

September 18, 2007

She said she could envision a day when “you have to show proof to your employer that you’re insured as a part of the job interview — like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination,” but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.

That quote was from Hillary Clinton about her government controlled, socialized health care plan. She is finally admitting what most of us have known for a long time, and that is that liberals want to treat us like children. They want to nurture us and provide for us, because, like children, we are unable to do it for ourselves. Thank you Hillary, thank you for finally telling us how you really feel about us.

Cate Blanchett will Drink Her Own Urine to Stop Global Warming

September 18, 2007

This is how much Cate Blanchett cares for the environment and stopping global warming:

Blanchett will have a few blessedly domestic weeks in Sydney, where Dash will start the new school year and she and Upton will work on renovating their house. Green before it was hip—she cites Al Gore and David de Rothschild as heroes and believes that leaf blowers “sum up everything that is wrong with the human race”—the couple are trying to make the ecological footprint of the home as small as possible, installing solar panels and even a filtration system that will allow them to drink their own wastewater.

She believes that leaf blowers sum up what is wrong in the world? Wow, she is deep. And all this time I thought what was wrong with the world was terrorism, the war, poverty, healthcare, and George W Bush. I know there was a town that tried to ban leaf blowers to help save the environment, I think it was Cambridge Ma., but I forget.

She is going to filter urine so that her family can drink it, but how is that supposed to save the environment? She doesn’t say. Are they saving water, thereby saving the environment? I don’t know, but these people just get nuttier and nuttier. It almost seems like they are trying to outgreen each other. It is almost to the point of them trying so hard to be the greenest that they no longer even ask if what they are doing makes any sense. I’ll drink to that, Cate, uh, them again, maybe not. I hope the read all the water softener reviews and get the best thing out there, yuk! I thought Sheryl Crow went over the top when she said we should only use one square of toilet paper, and also prposed removable sleeves so you could wipe your mouth on your sleve and replace it with a clean one. But drinking your own urine, and making your children do it also takes the cake.

The War on Poverty is Lost

September 17, 2007

  The war has failed.

It is time to withdraw and cut our loses.

We have spent way too much money on a war we can’t win and it’s time to surrender.

No, I’m not talking about the Iraq war. And no, I haven’t turned into a moonbat. What I am talking about is the war on poverty. The war on poverty is either one of the biggest failures of the Democrat party or one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the American people. Or both. Read more…

New Hampshire Soldier in Iraq Shares his Ongoing Story Part 6

September 17, 2007

You can read here about Lt. Col. Jonathan Sistare, a New Hampshire soldier in Iraq who has been writing an ongoing article for the New Hampshire Union Leader. This is supposed to be his last part because he will soon be on the way home. I hope after he comes home he will write one more piece to tie everything up.

In this latest part he talks about the joy he feels knowing he will see his wife and three boys soon, and also the saddness he feels knowing he is leaving some friendships that were forged in Iraq behind. I don’t think any one who hasn’t been through something like this to be able to truly be able to understand the friendships he is talking about. Just knowing your life depends on everyone around you twenty four hours a day and building the kind of trust and love for you fellow soldiers  is something I will never be able to grasp fully. But it’s not just his American counter-parts he will miss, he will also miss the Iraqis he has been fighting along with. Just imagine the trust and bond that had to have developed there.

Here is how the article ends.

However the situation here in Iraq ends, it will not bring an end to the threat of terrorism which we all face now and which we all saw so tragically on 9/11 six years ago. President Bush saw Iraq as a threat, and most of the country, including the Congress, agreed at the time, and here we are. After making so much effort to get here and to destroy the threat at the time (Saddam), turning and saying “see ya” before we help Iraq get back on its feet would be a far worse mistake than it might have been to come here in the first place.

It is to those that suffered and died, and to those that have served and continue to serve here and throughout the world, that I am eternally grateful for what my family is able to enjoy every day.

Thank you for reading this. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I’ve enjoyed conveying the message of a hick from New Hampshire who was able to see history being made here in Iraq.

Thank you, Lt. Col. Jonathan Sistare

It’s Official, New Hampshire is Smoke Free

September 17, 2007

Well, today New Hampshire has officially banned smoking in all bars and restaurants. Let today, September 17th, 2007, go down in New Hampshire history as the day when New Hampshire first began to legislate how people should act, what they can put in their bodies, and where they can put it in their bodies. It only gets worse form here.

Let me just reiterate, I am a non-smoker (except for a very rare cigar) so I am not pissed that they took My right to smoke away from me, but I am upset that they took somebody’s right away from them. Who the hell does governor Lynch and the new Democrat majority in New Hampshire think they are? When I go to a bar I can chose to go to a smoking bar or a non smoking bar. Or at least I could, not any more. Now the government has stepped in and told private buisness owners what their policies have to be.

The government of New Hampshire, and by this I mean the liberal John Lynch has decided that he is so damned smart he can tell us what to do with our bodies. And don’t give me the we have to protect the people who work in these establishment line. The employees CHOOSE to work there, if they don’t like the smoke they are subject to they can quit and get another job. If they choose to stay, they know the risks and are willing to take them. The government should stay out and treat us like adults, we don’t need you to hold our hands and change our poo-poo diapers for us.

Just read the following line from this article:

New Hampshire has long been a haven for those who like their liberty unfettered and their government restrained. The smoking ban symbolizes the reversal of that historic arrangement. The state is gaining power, the individual losing it.

The smoking ban is a serious loss of liberty, and one which makes future encroachments of state power upon individual freedom more easily justifiable for those who wish to force others to behave as they do.

That sums it up rather nicely. Remember, the more government intrusion you have in you life, the less freedom you have.

Here is the first comment left on the Union Leader website about this acticle:

Smokers have no rights. Last time I looked, employees have a right to work in an environment that is not hostile. Perhaps Strange Brew will attract a new brand of revolutionary — former employees of bars and restaurants who no longer have to hack and cough and wash their hair and clothes immediately following every shift and who are treated respectfully by their government, if not their employer.

The writer of this article shows us the mentality of a typical liberal. Smokers have no rights he says. Because he does not approve of a behavior he believes he has the right to regulate or ban such behavior. But what would happen if the government went after something that he enjoyed? I believe his reaction would be much different. Liberals are all too willing to tell other people how to live, but don’t you dare tell them how to live.

Once you are willing to turn part of you free will over to the government, once you give up that freedom to chose, once you let government intrude in private buisness, once you let government regulate lifestyle, the door is open. The door will remain open, maybe just a crack, and the government will sneak in when you aren’t lokking and steal more and more of your personal choices and replace them with laws.

September 17, 2007 was the day the New Hampshire began to lose her ability to think for herself. September 17, 2007 was the day we let New Hampshire babysit her residents. September 17, 2007 was the day we can say “New Hampshire, welcome to the Nanny State. Don’t worry New Hampshire, Mommy is here for you.”

Video: Alex Jones Speech to 9/11 Truthers 09/09/07

September 16, 2007

Alex Jones is a man who has had a shortwave radio show for years, he has been fighting the New World Order and One World Government conspiracies for these years. He now has two websites dedicated to this fight of his.

Below is a video of a speech he gave to 9/11 truthers on September 09, 2007. I don’t know what is scarier, how insane this man is or the fact that he has so many followers. To think, these people actually vote, maybe that is the scariest part of all.

Here is the trailer for the film he was about to show when the video stops.

Defeat at any Price

September 15, 2007

Here is a great article written by David Gelernter for The Weekly Standard. It pretty much sums up everything I have been trying to say about the far left, only it is done a hell of a lot better than I possibly could write. Let’s take a look at some of the excerpts.

Democrats at the hearings themselves found it impossible to look this capable, thoughtful, distinguished man in the face and endorse the MoveOn ad. But don’t get them wrong: Leading Dems had dumped on Petraeus often in the past, and were dumping furiously in preparation for the hearings. Petraeus is guilty of “carefully manipulating the statistics,” Senator Dick Durbin announced; in fact the general has “made a number of statements over the years that have not proven to be factual” (in strict contradistinction to Majority Leader Harry Reid), said Majority Leader Harry Reid. Barbara Boxer and Joe Biden plunged their knives in also. The Democrats were scared for a reason. They worried that Petraeus would impress the country as dispassionate and serious–which he did. He called Bush’s troop surge no unqualified success, said that much work remains–but that Iraq has turned a corner; has achieved tangible, important results in its fight against terrorism and inter-sect violence since the surge began. It was a Democratic nightmare.

That last sentence is so true, but so sad and disheartening at the same time. It ia a Democrat’s nightmare to hear that the war has turned a corner. They wanted and needed bad news, that is the position they have put themselves in, and I don’t pity them one bit. They want us to fail, so as far as I am concerned they can all rot in hell. They have put their political gain ahead of the security of the country and this is unacceptable to me to say the least. Read more…

Iran’s Supreme Leader,Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says Bush Will be Tried for War Crimes

September 15, 2007

In a speech that sounds like the Democrat talking points over the last several years Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the following:

“A day will come that the current U.S. president and officials will be tried in an international supreme court for the catastrophes they caused in Iraq,” he said.

“Americans will have to answer for why they don’t end occupation of Iraq and why waves of terrorism and insurgency have overwhelmed the country,”

He must be reading the far left blogs and websites, this sounds just like the rhetoric they have been spewing for years now, but he goes on:

“More than four years have passed since the occupation of Iraq and today everyone knows that America has failed and is frantically looking for a way out,” he said.

Now, where could he have gotten an idea like that? Maybe from Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton (depending on which day it is), Dick Durbin, John Murtha, Jim Webb, Russ Feingold, Carol Shea-Porter, Paul Hodes, Barack Obama, Denis Kucinich, Ron Paul, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden, and I know I am missing more of the loud voices but you get the point. These people think their words don’t resinate with the enemy, but when you read comments like the one above you realize they do.

You can read more of the article here.
