New York City to try and Ban the Words Bitch and Ho

August 7, 2007

The fallout from Don Imus continues. While I am no fan of Don Imus, and I was happy to see him fired, what he said, I believe, had no grounds for his dismissal. You can read here about how New York City is now going to try to ban the words bitch and ho. First of all, ho isn’t a word, it’s slang, but that is neither hear nor there. While these words can be offensive, does a city have the right to ban them? If you start with these words where does it stop. Actually it didn’t start with these words, it started with the “N” word. While the “N” word is much more offensive than bitch or ho, should it be banned? Can we start banning words in this country that some would consider offensive? Who gets to decide what is offensive?

The term is hateful and deeply sexist, said Councilwoman Darlene Mealy of Brooklyn, who has introduced a measure against the word, saying it creates “a paradigm of shame and indignity” for all women.

the bill also bans the slang word “ho”

We had better Wake up in this country. How did we go down a road where banning words is okay, what has happened to our constitution? Political correctness started to indoctrinate Americans into believing that there are some things that we can not, or should not say.

We voluntarily gave into the fact that something that someone might find offensive should not be spoken.

Soon it will no longer be voluntary.

Where does it end?

Latest Poll (08/07), President Bush’s Approval Ratings Continue to Rise

August 7, 2007

This has to be bad news for the defeatist left out there. These people have based their whole future on bashing Bush, they have no agenda other than to oppose the president. This latest poll is the second in a row where the president’s numbers are rising. As if this weren’t enough to send the liberals screaming in the streets, there is this news that the war is gaining in popularity. The left has staked so much in opposing Bush and losing the war that if the presidents numbers continue to rebound, or worse yet for the liberals, if we win the war it will spell certain disaster for the left. Look for them to begin an all out war on the war and on the president in the coming days as they try to stem this tide. It’s just too bad they don’t care as much about winning the war as they do about winning the white house. They are so passionate about their anti-Bush rhetoric, yet so unpassionate about securing America’s interests. Read more…

Latest Gallop Poll Shows Public Support for the War is Growing

August 6, 2007

USA TODAY’s Susan Page reports that President Bush is making some headway in arguing that the increase in U.S. troops in Iraq is showing military progress.

In the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, taken Friday through Sunday, the proportion of those who said the additional troops are “making the situation better” rose to 31% from 22% a month ago. Those who said it was “not making much difference” dropped to 41% from 51%.

If this keeps up the Democrat candidates will have to be for the war once again.

New Hampshire Soldier in Iraq Shares His Ongoing Story Part 4

August 6, 2007

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

The fourth installment of Jonathan Sistare, a New Hampshire soldier in Iraq appeared in the New Hampshire Union Leader today, and you can read it here.

I find it fascinating to read a first hand account of what is going on over there, and some of the feelings of one of our brave soldiers. In this entry he talks about some of the hard times and the heat of Summer in Iraq. He also talks about how he realizes how the American people are turning on the war, and asks for time to complete the mission. He says he is witnessing firsthand the birth of a nation, ans he hopes to one day look at a free and Democratic Iraq with pride and say, “I was part of that.”

Public School in Brooklyn to Teach Muslim Religion

August 6, 2007

A school is set to open in Brooklyn next year that will teach Muslim studies.

New York City officials have not been open or candid, critics say, about a controversial public school set to open in Brooklyn next month that will teach Arab language and culture — the Khalil Gibran International Academy.

A local group, Stop the Madrassa Community Coalition, fears the school will become a Muslim-oriented school that promotes a religious and political agenda to its incoming sixth-grade class.

Arab culture is a religious culture. The liberals have found a term called the seperation of church and state in the constitution that doesn’t exist, and now they are willing to throw it out the window in this case. Why is that? Why is it okay for a public school to teach Islam but not Christianity? The left hates Christians because their beliefs go against what liberals believe, yet Muslims are much less tolerent of these same behaviors and it is okay for the left to teach this religion anyway. I can only believe it is to further the point of the left that Muslims are peaceful and it’s the evil United States interviening and causing all the world’s problems. The following quote is what I base this on.

The suspicions are fueled by comments made by the school’s incoming principal, Debbie Almontaser, as well as by some of her allegedly radical Islamist associations.

She has said, for instance, that U.S. foreign policy is “racist” and that the U.S. “triggered” terrorism by not being a fair mediator in the Middle East.

This is just who we need in charge of teaching sixth graders.

Reporter Killed for Investigative Reporting He was Doing on a Muslim Bakery

August 6, 2007

Chauncey Bailey was shot and killed by Devaughdre Broussard, who confessed and called himself a good soldier. So what was Devaughdre Broussard so mad about that he decided to kill Bailey? Bailey was doing some investigative reporting into an establishment called the Black Muslim Bakery. So this Muslim decided he needed to use violence against someone who might have found something that wasn’t on the level.

He was taken into custody Friday along with six other people in an early morning police raid on the bakery and affiliated buildings as a result of a two-month police investigation. Broussard had been staying at one of the raided houses on 59th Street, its rear yard connecting to the bakery property. At the house, police recovered the shotgun they believe was used to kill Bailey, the 57-year-old editor of the Oakland Postnewspaper.

One of those arrested in the raid was Yusuf Bey IV, son of the bakery’s founder, the late Black Muslim leader Yusuf Bey. Bey IV was booked Saturday on a $375,000 warrant out of San Francisco stemming from an incident in which he allegedly ran over a security guard at a strip club. His brother, Joshua Bey, and two others arrested in Friday’s raids, are being held in connection with the July 19 kidnapping and assault of a woman.

Thank God this is a peaceful religion.

Firefighters to Sue San Diego for Forcing Them to March in a Gay Parade

August 6, 2007

Four San Diego firefighters were ordered to participate in a gay pride parade against their will. They are claiming they were sexually harassed along the parade route by gay parade goers.

According to the complaint filed with the city, the firemen of Engine 5 told their chief they did not want to appear in the parade but were told the morning of the parade that they were under orders to participate.

The firefighters, described by the law center as “devoted husbands and fathers,” claim to have been subjected to sexually suggestive comments from parade observers, including “show me your hose,” “you can put out my fire,” and “give me mouth-to-mouth.”

Sexual harassment is sexual harassment in my book. These were unwanted sexual advances or comments, and that  is sexual harassment. Unfortunately these firefighters are going after one of the protected groups. They will be portrayed as bigots and homo-phobes, and the whole fact that they were harassed will be secondary. If not lost all together.

What would have happened had the parade goers been straight men, making these same type of comments to women? I think we know the answer to that. This really is no different than that. If these gay men are allowed to sexually harass these firefighters without punishment than they do not have equal rights, they have more rights.

The firefighters had to take it from both sides(pardon the image that statement may have invoked) as religious groups protesting the parade thought that the firefighters supported gay rights.

the firemen say they were subjected to criticism from religious demonstrators protesting the parade. “Not only was I being subjected to these comments [from homosexuals] but I had to be told by protestors that homosexuality is sin, I’m going to hell, and I will be judged by God,” Engineer Jason Hewitt said.

This should be an interesting case to follow. If they gays want the same rights as straight people, than they have to be willing to suffer the same punishment for the same crime. If they hide behind bigotry and homo-phobism (how’s that for a word) than it will be proof that they want more than equal rights. They will show us they want the immunities and protections that privileged protected groups receive that are unavailable to other groups.

UPDATE: The chief firefighter is a lesbian. That is why she forced the firefighters into the parade.

Nancy Pelosi adds 15 Earmarks to Defense Spending Bill

August 5, 2007

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said last year that she would be happy to “do away with” the practice of funding members’ pet projects

One of the issues that Democrats ran on was eliminating earmarks in bills. Cutting down on pork barrel spending. Now it becomes obvious that they must have meant Republican earmarks.

Thousands of so-called earmarks still adorn spending bills, including 15 from Pelosi in a defense measure.

15 earmarks alone for Pelosi in one bill, this is what you call “doing away with” pork barrel spending?

What’s her excuse? I’m glad you asked.

Democrats, who never promised to abolish the practice altogether

They never promised to abolish them altogether is the excuse. What can we read into that? I read into it that they are saying they want to do away with Republican earmarks. You see, the Democrats are so damned smart and their earmarks are for the common good. We cannot question their earmarks because they know what is best for us, unlike the evil Republicans. Nancy Pelosi added 15 earmarks to one bill for our own good, doesn’t that make you feel better?

So where do Pelosi’s earmarks go?

Some companies stand to gain from Pelosi’s earmarks. The California Democrat has won funding for six companies in a 2008 defense funding measure. One is a $4 million request to develop a “novel viral biowarfare agent” for Prosetta Corp., based in her San Francisco district. Tom Higgins, the company’s chief executive officer, says he talked to the Speaker’s staff directly rather than hiring a lobbyist and hasn’t given money to her campaign. “We’re just a little company,” he says.

Another of Pelosi’s earmarks was $2.5 million to Bioquiddity, Inc., a San Francisco biotech company with nine employees, to continue developing drug-infusion pumps. Bioquiddity President Josh Kriesel, who ran unsuccessfully as a Republican for the state legislature in 2002, has donated $6,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee since last September. The company received a total of $3.9 million in earmarks in the last two years. Kriesel declined to comment directly on the earmarks.

To private companies. Is there something wrong here, I would think so. A republican response:

“It baffles me how people can complain bitterly about Halliburton and no-bid contracts and then lard up a bill with literally thousands of earmarks to companies when that’s all they are — no-bid contracts,” says Representative Jeff Flake, an Arizona Republican, referring to criticism of the Bush administration’s sole-source contract with the Houston-based company during the Iraq war. Flake is noted for not requesting earmarks and publicizing those of his colleagues.

`Circular Fund Raising’

“So many of these companies turn around and give campaign contributions right back to the sponsor of the earmark,” Flake says. “This kind of circular fund raising is unbelievable.”

In effect Nancy Pelosi is rewarding companies in a sort of no bid fashion reminiscent of Halliburton. Where is the outcry? I don’t hear it.

Hillary Clinton Hears the Boos at the Daily Koz Convention

August 4, 2007

At the left wing, radical, out of touch with reality Daily Koz convention Hillary Clinton was not always received fondly.

“A lot of those lobbyists, whether you like it or not, represent real Americans, they actually do,” Clinton said, drawing boos and hisses from liberal bloggers at the second Yearly Kos convention.

She refused to stop taking money from lobbyists and tried to spin it into a positive for her. Apparently, it didn’t work. These people have their narrow minded vision and will take no opposing view seriously.

  Edwards pounced on this opportunity.

“We don’t want to trade their insiders for ours,” said the former North Carolina senator.

  Clinton responded.

Nonetheless, the bloggers booed and hissed when Clinton insisted a moment later that nobody would believe that she could be influenced by lobbyists’ money. So would she continue to accept those donations?

“Yes, I will,” she said, arguing that plenty of lobbyists represent good causes. “They represent nurses, they represent social workers, they represent, yes, they represent corporations that employ a lot of people.”

So how could this affect Hillary?

“We may decide she’s not our first choice, but she’s not a bad choice,” he said.

When Hillary Clinton isn’t far enough to the left to be the Daily Koz’s first choice it is a scary proposition as to what the Democrat nominee will look like in 2008 elections.

Senate Passes Domestic Spying Bill

August 4, 2007

Okay, sane, thinking Americans know that this was never a domestic spying program, but that never stopped the Democrats from portraying it that way.

The Senate, in a high-stakes showdown over national security, voted late Friday to temporarily give President Bush expanded authority to eavesdrop on suspected foreign terrorists without court warrants. The House, meanwhile, rejected a Democratic version of the bill.

Notice how the article calls them foreign terrorists now? Isn’t that something? All this time Democrats have been telling us that president Bush is spying on US. Now that the Democrats have to vote on it their lie has been exposed. If it was really a DOMESTIC spying program they would never have voted for this bill. Democrats have been caught in another lie.

The Democrats know and always knew that this program is vital to national security, and were not willing to take the hit voting against a program that they said was illegal before last November’s election. This cannot sit well with the far left radicals they have been lying to all along.

The bill “will give our intelligence professionals the essential tools they need to protect our nation,” said White House spokesman Tony Fratto. “It is urgent that this legislation become law as quickly as possible.

That is what the president has said all along, now the Democrats have changed their tune. So who is holding onto their beliefs? President Bush. Although the Democrats aren’t really changing their beliefs, just the public perception of their beliefs, the perception that this program was illegal. They always knew this program was legal and their vote confirms it. If it wasn’t legal they would have stopped it, wouldn’t they?

This is not playing well to the far left.

“We’re hugely disappointed with the Democrats,” said Caroline Fredrickson, legislative director for the American Civil Liberties Union. “The idea they let themselves be manipulated into accepting the White House proposal, certainly taking a great deal of it, when they’re in control – it’s mind-boggling.”

They are not in control. Despite the media telling us the American people gave the Democrats a mandate, they have a very slim majority. They don’t have enough votes to pass any legislation without some support of the Republicans.
