Jose Padilla Found Guilty of Supporting Terrorism

August 16, 2007

d8r29jk80_preview.jpg

Today Jose Padilla was found guilty of supporting terrorism. This is one of the men that the left and the ACLU, actually that’s kind of redundent isn’t it, were up in arms about not getting a trial. Well he finally had his day in court and guess what, he will be doing the same thing he has been doing since 2002.

I am just thankful the jury did the right thing here as I was afraid they would let this man walk. I suppose now the ACLU is going to come out and say he could not get a fair trial because he was held for so long the jury pool was tainted and had pre-determined he must be guilty. After all the ACLU and Padilla do have the same ultimate goal of bringing down the USA and the same feeling of disdain for the USA. They will try anything to free this man and others like him.

The three were accused of being part of a North American support cell that provided supplies, money and recruits to groups of Islamic extremists. The defense contended they were just trying to help persecuted Muslims in war zones with relief and humanitarian aid.

Somewhere Rosie O’Donnell is frowning, this just shows that George W Bush was correct to keep this man behind bars, and I hope he stays there the rest of his life. I also hope the rest of his life isn’t very long, I believe a little prision justice would serve him well.

Romney Blasts Obama for his Ignorant Remarks about Afganistan

August 14, 2007

“We’ve got to get the job done there,” he said of Afghanistan. “And that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there.”

Those words were spoken by Barack Obama. This just further shows us why he does not have the experience in foreign policy to be president. Not only that, these words are disgraceful and show an utter contempt for any military operations. Does he truly believe all we are doing over there is killing civilians? If so, he is absolutely naive and has no business running for president. If he doesn’t believe this and he is saying it for some sort of political gain, he is an asshole, pure and simple. To denigrate our soldiers fighting to protect our freedoms is nothing butless than despicable.

Mitt Romney has decided to fight back at this lunacy, or at least ignorant statemient.

“That is a very troubling remark on so many levels,” said Romney spokesman Kevin Madden. “Most importantly, it’s emblematic of Senator Obama’s lack of experience for the job of commander-in-chief. But it’s also an entirely inaccurate condemnation of the efforts of the men and women of the United States military who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

I have to say, Mitt is not my forst choice but he does have his moments.

Naturally, Obama was unavailable for comment as his spin machine looks to correct this latest gaff.

You can read the whole article here that also shows all his previous gaffs on national security as he alternately tries to appease the left and appear as a hawk at the same time.

As much as I hate to say this, this man could be more dangerous as president than Hillary.

  It’s close though.

Hillary Clinton’s Records as First Lady are Being Hidden From the Public

August 14, 2007

As can be read here, Hillary Clinton is being less than generous in releasing documents of her time as first lady that have been requested by people under the Freedom of Information Act

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton cites her experience as a compelling reason voters should make her president, but nearly 2 million pages of documents covering her White House years are locked up in a building here, obscuring a large swath of her record as first lady.

Why can’t we see these documents? What is she trying to hide? Could it be her failed attempt to socialize medicine the first time?

A trove of records has been made public detailing the Clinton White House’s attempts to remake the nation’s healthcare system, following a request from Bill Clinton that those materials be released first. Hillary Clinton led the healthcare effort in 1993 and 1994.

But even in the healthcare documents, at least 1,000 pages involving her work has been censored by archives staff because they include confidential advice and must be kept secret under a federal law called the Presidential Records Act. Political consultants said that if Hillary Clinton’s records were made public, rivals would mine them for scraps of information that might rattle her campaign.

Well, that is convenient, isn’t it? She is hiding behind her husband to assure that documents she doesn’t want released won’t be released. As if it isn’t bad enough that she is campaigning on her husband’s record, she is also hiding behind it.

Clinton’s calendars, appointment logs and memos are stored at her husband’s presidential library, in the custody of federal archivists who do not expect them to be released until after the 2008 presidential election.

This all sounds too suspicious to me. The documents won’t be released to after 2008? Why? I ask again, what is she hiding? There have been over 250 requests for these documents under the Freedom of Information Act, but somehow the process seems to be delayed until after the 2008 election.

George W Bush evokes executive privilege and the leftist and the media have a fit, they accuse him of trampling the constitution, and having an utter disregard of the laws of the country. Yet they are strangely silent on this issue.

“There’s no reason why a load of a few hundred FOIA requests should absorb 11 full-time people perpetually,” Blanton said, referring to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act.

Can you say obstructionism? I can.

Another little publicized aspect of this story is the fact that Hillary Clinton is actually being sued by a group called Judicial Watch for access of these documents.

Democrat Candidates Begin to Shift and Admit we will be in Iraq for Years

August 13, 2007

First we had this article in the New York Times saying that the Iraq war may be winnable after all, now we have this article from the same paper telling us we may need to stay in Iraq for years.

Even as they call for an end to the war and pledge to bring the troops home, the Democratic presidential candidates are setting out positions that could leave the United States engaged in Iraq for years.

So it now appears that the Democrats are starting to cut back on the rhetoric all of a sudden and the New York Times is helping them to do it by letting the anti-war left know (slowly but surely) that the Democrats may not be able to deliver on yet another campaign pledge. But this isn’t just another campaign promise, this is THE campaign promise.

Could it be, as I feel, that the Democrats now realize that they have gone to far with their promises to end the war? They knew that they were never going to be able to end the war without committing political suicide, but now they could be committing suicide by turning away from the far left. They are caught in the middle and are trying to get out.

These positions and those of some rivals suggest that the Democratic bumper-sticker message of a quick end to the conflict — however much it appeals to primary voters — oversimplifies the problems likely to be inherited by the next commander in chief.

Exactly, it was too easy for them to criticize the war, and call for withdrawal when they were in the minority. Now they have gotten what they wished for and it is a bitter taste. They could spew their nonsense without fear of repercussions, now that they have to avoid the repercussions of cutting off war funds they don’t know haw to handle it. They are trying to oppose the war to satisfy their base, and let the base down easy by letting it slip out that they cannot or will not actually end the war.

Democrats are increasingly taking the position, in televised debates and in sessions with voters across the country, that ending a war can be as complicated as starting one.

This really is entertaining, I just wish it wasn’t such a serious issue. I am enjoying listening to them twist in the wind, covering both sides of the war issue. They are proving what many of us already knew, but that many people didn’t want to believe, that the Democrats really had no intention to bring a quick end to the war. The Democrats won the battle they were interested in, the battle for control of congress.

More Good News About the Troop Surge

August 13, 2007

As can be read in this article major attacks are down significantly in Iraq since the beginning of the surge.

The number of truck bombs and other large al-Qaeda-style attacks in Iraq have declined nearly 50% since the United States started increasing troop levels in Iraq about six months ago, according to the U.S. military command in Iraq.

The high-profile attacks — generally large bombs hitting markets, mosques or other “soft” targets that produce mass casualties — have dropped to about 70 in July from a high during the past year of about 130 in March, according to the Multi-National Force-Iraq.

Military officers say the decline reflects progress in damaging al-Qaeda’s networks in Iraq. The military has launched offensives around Baghdad aimed at al-Qaeda sanctuaries and bases.“

The enemy had the initiative and the momentum in ’06,” said Jack Keane, a retired general who is a chief architect of the increase in troop levels and mentor to Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq. “We’ve got it now.”

The early results from General Petraeus and the surge are very encouraging, you can almost hear the Democrats muttering “DAMMIT” under their breath. That is why they wanted to start the pullout before General Petraeus’ report comes out next month. Any type of American progress, large or small, is bad news for the Democrats.

Iraqis are noticing this also and are now biggining to fight back also.

Successes against al-Qaeda have also been helped by shifting Sunni public opinion and a growing number of insurgent defections, the military says.“Tribes and people are starting to stand up and fight back,” said Brig. Gen. Mick Bednarek, deputy commander of the U.S. division north of Baghdad. “They are turning against al-Qaeda.”

All this combined is bad news for the Democrats, they have too much time and energy invested in helping us lose this war. What will happen if we actually win this war and George W bush is proven right? It will have devestating effects on the Democrat party for years to come.

An Example of why America May Never Win Another War

August 11, 2007

Below is a letter to the editor that appeared in the New Hampshire Union Leader on Friday, August 10th:

Selective memory

To the editors: Selctive memory is a wonderful thing and so patriotic.

We remember the Alamo, we remember the Maine, we remember Pearl Harbor, and most of all we remember 9/11.

Yet nobody cares to remember that on Aug. 6, 1945, our nation dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima killing over 100,000 Japanese civilians. And nobody cares to remember that on Aug. 9, 1945, our nation dropped a second atomic bomb, this one on the city of Nagasaki, killing over 70,000 Japanese civilians.

As a Christian nation we are always ready to forget and forgive our trespasses, but we will never forget, nor forgive, those who trespass against us. Makes me so proud to be an American.

That letter is just one example of why America may never win abother war again. Not because we can’t militarily, but because of the mindset of an ever growing amount of the population. It is this same mindset that has prevented us form winning the Iraq war. We could have wiped Iraq of the face of the earth, but we have tried to fight a war that would be more humane, if you can use that word when talking about war, to appease the type of person who wrote the letter above. If America is not willing to fight a war with all of her might we are doomed to failure. al-Qaeda knows this, as does Osama bin Laden, he has even said as much (thank you, BIll Clinton).

Imagine the hate you feel for your country when all you see is negativity for it all the time? Imagine feeling remorse for the enemy of WWII, the enemy that attacked us unprovoked, and not caring about when America was attacked. People like this believe that America deserves what it gets when it gets it, that all of our transgretions along the way lead us into being attacked. It is very sad.

It is this mindset that will be our downfall. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made and you need strong leaders to do so. People like this believe that if we just mind our own buisness our enemies will go away. The world will be full of flowers and candy.

I, for one, do remember Aug. 6th, and Augyst. 9th. 1945, and I say thank you President Truman. Who knows how many American (and Japanese) lives Truman saved in the long run by bringing a swift end to the war?

New Hampshire Tax Protesters in Stand-off With Federal Marshals Part 12

August 10, 2007

Previous posts on Ed and Elaine Brown can be read here.

Ed Brown claims war is coming and also threatens the life of anyone who brings him down.

If federal agents storm Brown’s property, he and his supporters will come out shooting. Brown said yesterday that if those agents kill him or his wife, Elaine, his supporters will systematically find and kill Plainfield Police Chief Gordon Gillens, Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Prozzo and others Brown says are sworn to protect him.

  Also this:

On June 7, more than 100 heavily armed state and federal law enforcement officers swarmed the area around the Browns’ home. While taking a morning walk, 39-year-old Danny Riley, a supporter who was staying there, discovered armed officers in the woods near the driveway. He claims he was shot at, struck with a Tazer, detained and questioned for hours before being released.

That’s when the war started, Brown says.

“If they’re willing to kill him, then they’re willing to come in here and kill us,” he said. “We’re in a state of war now, and we’re going to act accordingly.”

This doesn’t sound like a man that has any intention of surrender, I don’t see how this can end peacefully.

“It has never, ever been resolved without war!” an infuriated Brown shouted during an interview on his porch Wednesday.

Ed Brown claims he has more, and better supporters coming very soon to aide him in what he calls war. This is going to get very, very ugly when it comes to a head.

Do We Need Another 9/11 to Save America?

August 9, 2007

That is what the author of this article believes. He states that America was united against the enemy after 9/11, which it was, but what does he blame for America turning on the Iraq war? It isn’t that Americans believe we can’t win, it’s the American people’s short attention span, the instant gratification mentality that has become the norm. Anything worth having, isn’t worth waiting for.

Americans have turned their backs because the war has dragged on too long and we don’t have the patience for a long slog. We’ve been in Iraq for four years, but to some it seems like a century. In contrast, Britain just pulled its soldiers out of Northern Ireland where they had been, often being shot at, almost 40 years.

That’s not the American way.

In Iraq, we don’t believe our military is being beaten on the battleground. It’s more that there is no formal “battleground.” There is the drip of daily casualties and victory is not around the corner. Americans are impatient. We like fast food and fast war.

Isn’t that the truth? Americans want what they want and they want it now. They DO want victory in Iraq, they just want it NOW. Hell, I want victory now, I wish we won years ago also, but I understand the ramifications that fighting with a full out military onslaught would have in today’s politically correct society. So I sit and wait while our soldiers fight the mission to secure the freedoms that I enjoy. I thank them every day, I think about them every day, and I realize every day how lucky I am to have been born in this country. This blog is my little way of supporting the troops. I understand what they are doing, and feel guilty that I haven’t done more, or didn’t do more when I was younger. I fight the war of words daily while they fight the real war. And I thank them. I remember 9/11 and never want to live through it again, even more importantly, I don’t want my children to have to live through it again. So what does the author of the above-linked article think will unite Americans once again?

What would sew us back together?

Another 9/11 attack.

The Golden Gate Bridge. Mount Rushmore. Chicago’s Wrigley Field. The Philadelphia subway system. The U.S. is a target-rich environment for al Qaeda.

Is there any doubt they are planning to hit us again?

If it is to be, then let it be. It will take another attack on the homeland to quell the chattering of chipmunks and to restore America’s righteous rage and singular purpose to prevail.

The unity brought by such an attack sadly won’t last forever.

The first 9/11 proved that.

Sadly, I feel that if 9/11 could only manage to bring the country together for a short period of time, another 9/11 type attack would only do the same. Americans would come together only to be driven apart by partisan politics. It’s a sad state of affairs, but it is the country we live in nowadays.

Political correctness has been telling Americans what to think and feel for so long now that the vast majority of Americans can no longer think for themselves. If 9/11 didn’t wake up America to the dangers we face as a civilization than nothing will.

Let’s just hope we never find out if another 9/11 will save us. The first one didn’t wake us up, the second one won’t either.

Washington DC Public Middle School Students to Learn About Abortion and Homosexuality

August 9, 2007

Washington D.C. middle schools will begin to teach about abortions and homosexuality if the new proposed curriculum is passed.

eighth-grade students should be taught the definition of sexual orientation “using correct terminology” and learn that some people “may begin to feel romantically and/or sexually attracted to people of a different gender and/or to people of the same gender.”

The guidelines also say that sixth-grade students should be taught that “people, regardless of biological sex, gender, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and culture, have sexual feelings and the need for love, affection and physical intimacy.”

Ninth-graders should be taught to “analyze trends in … contraceptive practices and the availability of abortion,” the document states.

Talk about indoctrination, this is totally removing the parents from bringing up their children the way they see fit. The schools are going to tell our children about what kinds of sexual behavior is acceptable.

This is another attempt by the left to further their agenda regardless of how mainstream America feels about it. They cannot get mainstream America to follow their lead on these two issues, so they go after the weakest among us, our children. After years of indoctrination beginning at such a young age, all of the left’s ideals will be brainwashed into our young. The left has our courts and our schools and they will continue to impose their will on America, whether you like it or not.

It may take years doing it this way, but they have made great strides already, and will continue to do so if we let them. We need to stop these people before it is too late.

MoveOn.org Slams Democrats for Passing Domestic Spying Bill

August 8, 2007

Let me say once again that this program was not, and is not, a domestic spying program in the first place, but that is the way it has been presented to the American people, so it is the term I will continue to use.

Last week the president signed a bill passed by the house and the senate that continues the foreign surveillance program. For my take on this you can read this. The quick version of my take is, if the Democrats were elected on a mandate, and if the president was spying on innocent Americans, they would never have passed this bill.

Now the ultra-liberal group, MoveOn.org is slamming the Democrats. Read more…
