Banning Water Coolers in San Francisco to Stop Global Warming

June 24, 2007

global-warming.jpgIt seems like every time a post about global warming I say now I’ve heard it all. And then I hear something else, post it, and then I think that has to be it, there can be nothing more ridiculous than what I just posted about.

I thought I heard it all when the genocide in Darfur was blamed on global warming, and now this, while not as important an issue as Darfur it may be just as stupid. Read more…

Gov. John Lynch’s(D) new Tax and Spend New Hampshire

June 24, 2007

storyjohnlynch-2.jpg Below is an editorial that appeared in the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Democrats took control of state government in January, and six months later they’ve come to a budget agreement that increases state general fund spending by about 16 percent.

That’ll teach us.

Gov. John Lynch’s first budget, passed with a Republican Legislature, grew by only 2.28 percent over the previous one. The new budget’s rate of growth is roughly seven times larger! And that was with Gov. Lynch urging his party to control spending!

Legislators pay for this growth with a slew of tax and fee increases. Vehicle registration fees, court filing fees, deed registration fees, cigarette taxes, turkey hunting permit fees, all are going up.

And yet the budget still contains a gigantic hole. Legislators passed a definition of “adequate education” that obligates the state to fund kindergarten and lots of other programs and services. But the bill does not include a cost, obligating taxpayers to finance this expansion but putting off the bill until a later date.

How much will this spending spree cost the taxpayers? It’s too early to say. But rest assured, getting away with this huge spending hike will embolden them to go even further next time.

Another voice of discontent.

I just want to know one thing. Where are Gov. Lynch’s approval ratings polls? I haven’t seen any since the beginning of his second term. Isn’t that odd, when he had record high ratings I saw them. I have been searching the internet and can’t find one anywhere. Maybe they are still high, but if that were the case wouldn’t it be published so that we could see New Hampshire residents approve of the civil unions, and tax increases he has signed? His ratings have to be down or we would see them.

This new budget doesn’t even include the education funding, they don’t even know how much it’s going to cost, or more likely they do and are afraid to tell us. Where is this money going to come from?

Can you say broadbase?

Fox News Runs Terrorism Documentary That PBS Refused to Air

June 23, 2007

A story that I have been posting about is the documentary that PBS made and then refused to air. This is a documentary called Muslims against Jihad. It was about moderate Muslims condemning Jihad. For some reason PBS was afraid it would offend Muslims so they pulled it.

You can read my previous posts here, here, and here,

PBS refused to air it, now Fox News has picked it up and aired it. You can read about it here.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find out about it in time to watch it, but it’s good to know that it was finally aired.

HAT TIP: Conservatism With Heart

New Hampshire Democrats Move Left Behind Carol Shea-Porter

June 23, 2007

Below is an article written by Fergus Cullen, who is the chairman of the New Hampshire Republican party. It appeared in the Concord Monitor.

Here it is:

As I’ve watched New Hampshire Democrats abandon the center and lurch to the left this year, going too far, too fast on fiscal issues and social issues, and advancing the Nanny State, I have struggled to come up with a rational political explanation for their behavior. What would make a party ignore its instinct for political self-preservation and flirt with political suicide? Read more…

Professor Challenges Al Gore to a Global Warming bet of $10,000

June 23, 2007

The professor has said the bet would be over a 10 year period.

Armstrong has challenged the former vice president to a 10-year bet, in which $10,000 from the two would be set aside in escrow as Gore pits his forecast of how much global temperature will increase during that time against a so-called “naive model,” in which temperature would be expected to stay the same.

The winner would get to donate the $20,000 and accumulated interest to the charity of his choice

It seems very unlikely Al Gore would accept this bet as he has ducked all debates about this issue he was asked to be in. As he says, the debate is over. It’s settled science, so now it’s time to pay up. Get your wallets out.

Armstrong said that he discovered that most climate-change forecasts use bad methodology.

“We’ve been unable to find any scientific forecast, and what we have are forecasts by scientists,” he said.

Come on Al, put YOUR money where your mouth is. You want US to pay to stop global warming with carbon taxes and credits, why don’t you risk some or YOUR money and show us how strongly you do believe in your position.

List of Journalists and Their Political Donations

June 23, 2007

Click here to see a list of the 143 journalists who have made political donations since 2004, and which party they donated to.

Do you see an interesting trend? I do. To what should surprise nobody, these journalists donated to the Democrat party at a rate of around 9 out of every 10.

We all know about the liberal bias in the media, this just helps us to understand how biased these so-called reporters are. I was actually a little surprised, if I had to guess before seeing this, I would have said donations would probably be slanted to the Democrats by about 7 out of 10 or so.

Possible Republican Candidate for Governor of New Hampshire

June 22, 2007

With what appears to me to be more and more New Hampshire residents growing leary of the direction New Hampshire is moving under Governor John Lynch, there have been no opinion polls available recently on the governor’s job approval rating. That’s strange, isn’t it? When he had record high approval ratings I saw many polls, now there are none.

The governor was able to portray himself as a moderate with Republicans in control of the other branches of state government. That is turning out not to be the case now that Democrats control everything here in New Hampshire. He is a liberal and is starting to show his true colors. He was able to keep his rating high by passing legislation that had wide support of the people, now with Democrats in control he is passing unpopular, Massachusetts type legislation. He is sapping us of personal liberties, and his new budget includes many tax increases. I still can’t believe New Hampshire voters fell for this ruse.

So now I think it’s time to look at possible Republican candidates for next year’s election. Thank God New Hampshire’s governor is only elected to two year terms, hopefully we can get this guy out of here before it’s too late. If it isn’t already. Read more…

Video: Hillary Clinton Possibly Committing Campaign Finance Reform Felonies

June 22, 2007

I have previously posted here about Hillary Clinton being sued for campaign finance reform law violations. She was supposedly caught on video tape committing several felonious acts. The man  who is suing her, Peter Paul, claims he has the video tape that proves this.

On the tape the former first lady and leading Democratic presidential contender is heard speaking in 2000 with Hollywood mogul Peter Paul, comic book icon Stan Lee, and director Aaron Tonkin about a massive fundraising event for her 2000 Senate race. Paul spent about $2 million of his own money to produce the event but later had a fallout with the Clintons.

If she helped to plan the event, it could legally constitute a direct hard money donation to Clinton’s Senate campaign, rather than to her joint fundraising committee called New York Senate 2000. If that is the case, the donation from Paul would be 10 times the legal limit of $2,000. Knowingly soliciting a contribution of $25,000 or more is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

The conversation appears to show Clinton actively helping to plan the event. The suit alleges that she violated federal campaign finance laws by directly soliciting a contribution from Paul.

The video was available on the internet today and here it is.

Top Democrats Distance Themselves from Michael Moore’s Sicko, for now

June 22, 2007

With the release of Michael Moore’s “Sicko,” a movie once again is adding sizzle to an issue that’s a high priority for liberal politicians — this time comprehensive health insurance for all. But unlike Al Gore’s film on global warming, which helped rally support on an equally controversial problem, “Sicko” is creating an awkward situation for the leading Democratic presidential candidates.Rejecting Moore’s prescription on healthcare could alienate liberal activists, who will play a big role in choosing the party’s next standard-bearer. However, his proposal — wiping out private health insurance and replacing it with a massive federal program — could be political poison with the larger electorate.

Michael Moore wants to do away with private buisnesses in the healthcare industry and replace them with big government. We all know that he took a trip to Cuba to show how Fidel’s healthcare system is better than America’s. Does anyone else find it disturbing that a government take over of a private industry is being suggested here? Some leading Democrat candidates do, however if their far left base gets vocal enough they will embrace it. Think about that, a GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER. Read more…

New Hampshire Tax Protesters in Stand-off With Federal Marshals Part 8

June 22, 2007

There is nothing really new to report in the stand-off today, however there is an interesting little fact about Ed Brown’s past that has been discovered. He was pardoned by then Massachussets gov. Dukakis. He was convicted of assault and armed robbery. He was paroled in 1965. He was pardoned in 1976. Without this pardon, he would not have been able to legally purchase the weapons he now has.

You can read the whole story here.
