Petition Against the Immigration Reform Bill

June 21, 2007

I came across this petition at american traditionalist.

The rule of law is vital to the success and character of our nation.
I strongly urge our nation’s leaders to oppose the Ted Kennedy Amnesty Bill currently being considered by the United States Senate.

Almost two decades ago, amnesty was attempted – it failed. Repeating that mistake will do nothing to secure our borders today.

America’s insecure borders are an enormous threat to our national security – a liability we can not afford in the struggle against gang violence on our streets or in the Global War on Terror.

We must take steps to secure our border, but amnesty is not the way.

Our message is simple – do not support amnesty.

Please sign this petition if you are opposed to the immigration reform bill.

Nancy Pelosi says that her Success in Congress will Lead Democrats to Victory in 2008

June 21, 2007

Nancy Pelosi recently touted the Democrat’s successes so far in the new Democrat controlled congress. She said that these successes would help them win the whitehouse in 2008.

What exactly are these successes? That is my question. I believe that the only piece of legislation that the congress passed and the president signed was the minimum wage increase. Other than that this has been a do nothing congress. This idea is reinforced by the gallop poll’s latest poll on congress. This poll has the congress approval rating at an all time low. Harry Reid’s approval rating is about half of the president’s approval rating.

So what is Nancy Pelosi Saying? Read more…

New Poll June 21: Confidence in Congress at all Time Low

June 21, 2007
tags:

Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.

This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973.  The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.

But the current 14% confidence rating for Congress is down from 19% last year and is the lowest in Gallup’s history, surpassing the 18% confidence in Congress measured in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

This is probably due to the fact that they were elected on promises they couldn’t deliver. Ending the war, which they could if they wanted to, was never a true option for them. They knew the political fallout of surrendering. The culture of corruption which helped get them elected has hit them also. And a domestic arenda that has gone nowhere. The true do nothing congress.

But what do American’s have confidence in?

69% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the military, which tops the list.

It’s too bad congress doesn’t feel the same way about the military. They keep saying the war is lost, or that we can’t win. Maybe they understand the way Americans view the military and that is why they won’t defund the war.

Former Muslim Tells Journalists Values of Islam, West Incompatible

June 20, 2007

One of the things that the media, Democrats, and many Americans don’t understand is that there are fundamental differences between our western culture and Islamic culture that will probably never be rectified. There is no middle ground here to try to comprimise on. I know this sounds like a bleak message, but it is true. This is the secret that nobody wants to admit. This in part may be why the media mis-reports so much of what is going on with the war, and the middle east in general. That and their belief that whatever George W Bush believes they must oppose. Hillary Snubbed in Liberal Straw Poll

June 20, 2007

In a straw poll conducted by the liberal Take Back America conference Hillary was snubbed as Obama took first place followed closely by Edwards.

In the unscientific straw poll sponsored by the Politico newspaper and conducted by liberal polling firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, 29 percent of attendees selected Obama as the favorite. Edwards came in a close second with 26 percent of the vote.

Hillary finished a distant third.

Clinton, who maintains a lead of 10 percentage points over Obama in national polls, came in third with 17 percent.

It appears though her stance, or lack there of, on the war is a big issue with the far left who make up the Democrat base. Read more…

Wife of Soldier Missing in Iraq Faces Deportation

June 20, 2007

The wife of Army Spec. Alex Jimenez, who is a Massachusetts soldier who is missing in Iraq, faces deportation as she is an illegal immigrant. She came to America illegally three years before marrying Jimenez. Her lawyer is seeking a hardship exemption. He had petitioned the government for a green card for his wife before they were married. His request was how immigration found out she was illegal

I have to believe that the exemption would be granted.

“I can’t imagine a bigger injustice than that, to be deporting someone’s wife who is fighting and possibly dying for our country,” Mr. Kolken told the station.

An immigration judge put a temporary stop to the proceedings since Spec. Jimenez was reported missing. The soldier’s wife is living with family members in Pennsylvania, the station reported.

Here is the whole story.

New Hampshire Tax Protesters in Stand-off with Federal Marshals Part 7

June 20, 2007

Well it now seems as though the town of Plainfield and it’s selectmen are getting impatient with this stand-off between Ed and Elaine Brown and federal agents. They are demanding definative action.

Plainfield selectmen are frustrated over how local police were kept in the dark before state and federal officers swarmed the area near Ed and Elaine Brown’s home on June 7, and have asked the U.S. marshal for “definitive action” to end the impasse with the convicted tax evaders.

“We’ve got a whole bunch of residents in town that we need to protect and make sure their children are safe, and the way we can do that is with information,” Town Administrator Steve Halleran said.

They are also unhappy with the lack of communication when the Feds moved in to seize Elaine Brown’s dental office on June 7th. Read more…

Bloomberg Leaves GOP, Becomes an Independent

June 19, 2007

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has quit the Republican party and has filed papers to become an independent. This has fueled the previous speculation that he would run as an Independent for president in the 2008 election.

Bloomberg plunged the country’s political landscape further into chaos on Tuesday evening when he released a statement saying he was quitting the Republican Party.

“I have filed papers with the New York City Board of Elections to change my status as a voter and register as unaffiliated with any political party. Although my plans for the future haven’t changed, I believe this brings my affiliation into alignment with how I have led and will continue to lead our City,” Bloomberg said.

This is not the first time he has switched parties as he was a registered Democrat before he switched to Republican.

This sounds like a man who will do anything to be elected.

At first I couldn’t decide which party would be hurt more by his candidacy, the Republicans or the Democrats. But I have desided that this has to hurt the Democrat candidates. Bloomberg has a very liberal social record so I don’t think too many Rebublicans would switch their vote and vote for him. On the Democrats side though, I do think he will draw votes.

This could be just an added dimension to an already interesting 2008 election.

Hillary Clinton on Video Tape Committing a Felony Campaign Finance Law Violation

June 19, 2007

I first wrote about this story here. I had a follow up post here.

Hillary Clinton is being sued for Campaign law finance violations. Isn’t it funny how we don’t hear much about this? She is arguing to have video tapes of her committing these violations thrown out of court.

A video tape shows New York Sen. Hillary Clinton committing felonies and should be admitted as new evidence in a California civil case, a forthcoming legal brief to be filed by Friday argues.

The tape shows Clinton – currently the leading Democratic presidential contender – speaking in 2000 with Peter Paul, a Hollywood mogul, and comic book icon Stan Lee about a massive fundraising event for her 2000 Senate race. Paul spent about $2 million of his own money to produce the event. The legal contribution limit to a candidate then was $2,000.

I’m sure it was just an oversight, he probably just accidentally added a few zeros by mistake. What’s a couple million between friends? Read more…

New Hampshire Tax Protesters in Stand-off with Federal Marshals Part 6

June 19, 2007

As I just touched upon in part 5 of this series, Randy Weaver has joined Ed and Elaine Brown in their stand-off with federal marshals.

Randy Weaver, the focus of the botched 1992 federal raid in Ruby Ridge, stood with convicted tax resisters Ed and Elaine Brown yesterday in a show of solidarity.

Calling himself a freelance reporter to avoid a potential aiding and abetting charge, Weaver said his presence at the Browns was meant to shine a national spotlight on their case and prevent bloodshed. Read more…
