More On Rep. Carol Shea-Porter(D-NH)

February 21, 2007

csp2.jpgI know this is a local issue for me, but I have to get the word out there about this congresswoman who somehow got elected. If you didn’t vote for her, she doesn’t think you are one of her constituents. She doesn’t care about your opinion. How can she be qualified to be a representitive, if she doesn’t think she represents half of her constituents.

From the New Hampshire Union Leader:

FIRST DISTRICT Rep. Carol Shea-Porter is not just friendly with anti-war protesters. She is one. Two years ago she was tossed from President Bush’s speech in Portsmouth for wearing a T-shirt that read, “Turn your back on Bush.” So it is no surprise that she is on good terms with anti-war demonstrators. However, now that she is a member of Congress charged with representing everyone in the 1st District, she needs to make sure she does not treat her pro-war constituents with the same disrespect she showed the President.

Shea-Porter has gotten into a public dispute with two constituents over her response to their criticisms. The two women, each with a family member serving in Iraq, wrote letters to the editor criticizing Shea-Porter’s opposition to President Bush’s plan to send more troops to Iraq. The New Hampshire Sunday News reported the story this past Sunday.

On Monday, Shea-Porter issued a news release defending herself and dismissing one woman as “a political partisan who had opposed me.”

The woman Shea-Porter went after in the news release claimed that Shea-Porter said over the phone that she’d been elected by anti-war voters and did not view pro-war people as her constituents. The other said a Shea-Porter staff member had called her to complain about the letter to the editor that she’d written.

We don’t know exactly what was said during those phone calls. But if Shea-Porter’s tone in conversation was anything like the tone of her news release, then it is easy to see how the women would have come away offended.

Shea-Porter claims to “listen to everyone, not just those with whom I agree. None of us should want to create a climate where we speak only to those who agree with us.”

If she really wants to create a climate in which those with opposing viewpoints feel respected and represented, she should stop quarreling with them and politely hear them out, like her predecessor Jeb Bradley used to do. She might also serve them cider if they decide to protest outside her office some day.

More On John Murtha’s “Slow Bleed” Strategy For Iraq

February 21, 2007

in-murtha3.jpgThis is another take on John Murtha’s slow bleed strategy in Iraq. We need to get the word out there before it’s too late

From nationalreview.com:

War Power Game
The coming constiutional crisis.

By Rich Lowry

While other House Democrats were pretending that their nonbinding resolution

against the Iraq troop surge was of great import, antiwar champion Rep. John Murtha spoke the truth. It is not “the real vote,” he said in a webcast for the left-wing MoveCongress.org. That comes with Murtha’s imminent attempt to hamstring President Bush’s conduct of the war that may well spark a constitutional crisis. Read more…

This is from opinionjournal.com:

The Antiwar Surge

Iraq is unpopular, but embracing defeat may prove politically disastrous for Democrats.

BY BRENDAN MINITER
Tuesday, February 20, 2007 12:01 a.m. EST
In mid-January an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that public support for President Bush’s troop surge increased to 35%, up from 26% a few weeks earlier. The same poll found that a slim majority of Americans were against the war in Iraq, but 68% said they opposed shutting off funds to fight it, and 60% said they would oppose Congress’s withholding funds necessary to send additional troops. Nanny State 3

I won’t even go into my usual rant about how liberals think they are smarter than you, and need to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do. What is good for you, and what isn’t. How they want to regulate and control our everyday lives through big government and ,ooops, sorry, I cant help myself.

Anyway, here is an article about something else they are now going after, caffeine. It’s only a matter of time before we face a caffeine tax. From newsday.com:

How much caffeine? Lawmaker asks labels

A city councilman who admits he drinks several cups of coffee a day said he will introduce a resolution tomorrow to pressure the federal government to require that food and beverages carry labels revealing the amount of caffeine.

The councilman, Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn), said he became aware of the need for more information about caffeine content on food products last year when his wife urged their daughter to keep track of how much caffeine she was consuming from all products during pregnancy.
“She said, ‘You don’t accomplish much as an elected official. Maybe you can do something about this,'” the councilman recalled yesterday with a chuckle. “And I don’t argue with her.”

Felder said he knows the City Council has no authority to force companies to provide the information on their products, but he wanted to put the city’s voice behind a movement to urge the Food and Drug Administration to require companies to provide information on caffeine quantities.

Scientists say consuming more than about 400 milligrams of caffeine a day can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, headaches, nausea and even heart problems. A 12-ounce cola typically has 30 to 55 milligrams of caffeine. A 7-ounce cup of coffee can have 65 to 135 milligrams.

The councilman said it was important for pregnant women and parents to know how much caffeine they and their children were consuming from products including coffee, chocolate, soft drinks, yogurt and ice cream.

“I drink three or four cups of coffee a day,” Felder said. “When I don’t have it, I do get a headache. It’s certainly important for people to know there is caffeine in products.”

The FDA requires that caffeine be included in the list of food product ingredients, but it does not require that the quantity be specified. The agency said in a 1981 advisory that pregnant women should avoid caffeine or use it only sparingly.

Telephone and e-mail messages for comment left with the FDA in Washington, D.C., were not immediately returned yesterday.

John Edwards’ Anti-Israeli Comment

February 20, 2007

edwards-ugly-face1.jpgJohn Edwards recently had this to say while in Hollywood “Perhaps the greatest short-term threat to world peace was the possibility that Israel would bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities”.

He believes it is a bigger threat that Israel would bomb Iran’s nuclear plants than Iran saying they want to wipe Israel and the United States off the map?

Mahmoud Ahamdinejad wants to destroy Israel and if Israel desides they need to take action to defend themselves it is wrong?

Mahmoud Ahamdinejad wants to end our way of life, he believes he can bring on the end days. It doesn’t matter if you believe in the Revelations or not. It doesn’t matter if he really believes it or not. What matters is that we cannot stand by and let this gattering storm be allowed to grow stronger. He is a dangerous man and must be stopped.

John Edward’s anti-Israeli comments are very disturbing and shows he can’t be trusted with national security.

Military Casualties During The Bill Clinton Administration

February 20, 2007

As I write this there have been about 3100 soldiers killed in Iraq fighting for and defending this country. This is from 2003 until now. I know this because we are constantly barraged with the death toll on the news every day. Can you image fighting WWII with the coverage as it is today?

Our enemy killed about the same number of us in one day on our soil, but sadly that has been forgotton.

Here is a list of how many US soldiers were killed when Bill Clinton was in office. We didn’t get constant death tolls the way we do now, so you probably haven’t seen these numbers before.

1993-1,245

1994-1,109

1995-1,055

1996-1,008

That is a total of 4,417 military deaths during the Clinton years.

Global Warming Hysteria

February 20, 2007

Now the global warming frauds appear to be joining with the peta people and other animal rights activists.

It’s not good enough to tell us what we should drive and how to live our lives. Now they want to tell us what we should eat. Actually that is already happening with the whole trans fat thing. But this goes even further.

How can you doubt that global warming is just about politics, big government with more restrictions in your life, government control, and big money when you read something like this?

They keep holding the high ground, telling us how bad we are, and how we do so many things wrong. We need to stop these people from indoctrinating our children in school while they are young and impressionable.

When you read stories like this you realize how overboard people are willing to go to promote their global warming agenda.

Humans Beef With Livestock: A Warmer Planet

American meat eaters are responsible for 1.5 more tons of carbon dioxide per person than vegetarians every year

By Brad Knickerbocker | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

As Congress begins to tackle the causes and cures of global warming, the action focuses on gas-guzzling vehicles and coal-fired power plants, not on lowly bovines.

Yet livestock are a major emitter of greenhouse gases that cause climate change. And as meat becomes a growing mainstay of human diet around the world, changing what we eat may prove as hard as changing what we drive. Read more…

Rep. John Murtha’s(D-PA) “Slow Bleed” Iraq War Plan

in-murtha.jpgSo, Rep. John Murtha(D-PA) now has a plan to end the war in Iraq, does the plan include a United States victory? Sadly, no. But that isn’t even the worst of the plan. Not only does his plan call for an eventual surrender, it will cost many more American lives. Read more…

Edwards’ Bloggers: Stand By Your Bigot

February 18, 2007
tags:

edwards-ugly-face2.jpgFrom the New Hampshire Union Leader:

Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards would love to have the votes of New Hampshire’s numerous Catholics. To get them, he’ll need to explain why he stood by two staff members after he found out about their anti-Christian and anti-Catholic bigotry.

Edwards hired a young woman named Amanda Marcotte as his official campaign blogger, evidently without looking closely into her past work. Among Marcotte’s anti-Catholic screeds was one calling Catholic teachings on birth control “misogyny” and Catholicism itself an “ancient mythology.”

Another Edwards blogger, Melissa McEwan, called conservative Christians President Bush’s “wingnut Christofascist base.”

When these comments were pointed out to Edwards, he said that while the statements personally offended him, “They both said it was never their intention to malign anyone’s faith, and I take them at their word.”

Calling Catholicism an “ancient mythology” and Christians fascists was not intended to malign? Sorry, Edwards cannot possibly have believed that.

After an Internet uproar, both women resigned. But Edwards remains tarnished. He should have vetted the bloggers more carefully, and he never should have kept them on staff after they were exposed as anti-Christian and anti-Catholic bigots.

The whole incident reveals an appalling lack of respect for Christians in general and Catholics in particular among the two women and Edwards.

Liberal columnist Mark Shields correctly observed of Marcotte, “if she had written similarly about a Jewish person, an Islamic person, a gay or a lesbian, she would be banished to the outer darkness.”

Very true. But among the secular left, Christians, especially Catholics, are fair game.

US Rep Carol Shea-Porter Is A Disgrace

csp1.jpgThis is from the New Hampshire Union Leader. My congresswoman doesn’t believe people in her district that oppose her views are her constituents. This is typical of a liberal, you can’t disagree with them because they are sooo smart, they know what’s best. Your opinion means nothing to them, you are stupid, they are enlightened.

Critics Rap Shea-Porter Over Calls

By MICHAEL COUSINEAU
