Is it time to tax meat in order to save the planet from global warming?

November 27, 2015

oxcycleIs it time to tax meat in order to save the planet from global warming? At least one group thinks so. This theory is based on the fact that animals exhale CO2 and because of this they are contributing to the demise of the planet.

Of course in order to believe this theory you have to put aside the fact that all living creatures exhale CO2 and this is vital for the plants and the trees because they absorb CO2 and create oxygen through a process called photosynthesis.

That was a simplified explanation of what my generation learned in science class growing up and it is at odds with what is being taught in the schools today. Today our children are taught that CO2 is a pollutant and I would be willing to bet that not very many people in today’s generation can even give this simplified explanation of photosynthesis. How many of today’s generation know that CO2 is vital to sustaining life on earth?

But let us put aside science for the purpose of this post in order to discuss this new science: because animals by their very existence, much like humans, are destroying the planet it is now being suggested that meat be taxed in order to dissuade people from eating meat, thusly saving the planet.

Here is more on this theory:

As Americans prepare for their Thanksgiving Day feasts, there’s an issue on the horizon that could make that turkey more expensive: taxing meat to reduce climate change.

Livestock is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, adding about the same amount of emissions as that of all the world’s vehicles, according to a new report from the U.K. policy institute Chatham House. But many consumers aren’t aware of the link between their dinner plates and climate change, the report notes.

Taking some policy steps — such as a meat tax — to make animal protein less appealing would help curtail demand and lower the impact on the environment, the researchers recommended.

So if this theory is true I have just one question: if animals are destroying the planet simply by breathing are we not already doing our part to save the planet by killing them and eating them?

Good point Steve! Notice too, that fraud prez loves his ribs and Michael O. probably eats quite differently from the food he/she requires for school lunches! It’s all just another ‘power and control’ grab, plus upping the price for good beef (taxing the ranchers – like organics growers). The only thing people will be able to afford is Soylent Green. Once again proving God’s word true: ‘When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.’ Proverbs 29:2

Yeah, the elites will not be changing any of their habits, they just want to control everything we do. That Proverbs passage is right on the money and we will all be mourning if we do not turn this around, and soon.
