I read yesterday that Joe Biden is now the President who has gone the longest in the last 100 years without holding a press conference by himself after taking office and I think we all know why that is. Yesterday Joe Biden held a virtual event and when he was through speaking he got a little confused and said he would take questions if that was what “I’m supposed to do.”
Apparently that was not what he was supposed to do because the White House abruptly cut the feed before any questions could be asked of the President. Here it is:
I am sure it was all just a mistake or a glitch in the system…

According to this story the New York legislature has reached a deal to strip Governor Andrew Cuomo–who wrote a book on how to lead the people through a pandemic and how wonderfully he handled the COVID-19 pandemic compared to Donald Trump, even though his policies led to the deaths of thousands of senior citizens–of his emergency COVID-19 powers. Here is more:
Legislators from New York’s Assembly and state Senate struck a deal Tuesday to strip Gov. Andrew Cuomo of his pandemic-linked emergency powers and return matters like lockdowns to local control.
The deal would reverse emergency powers granted to Cuomo exactly a year ago, in the early days of the COVID pandemic, that gave him free rein to order measures like quarantines.
“I think everyone understands where we were back in March and where we are now. We certainly see the need for a quick response but also want to move toward a system of increased oversight, and review. The public deserves to have checks and balances. Our proposal would create a system with increased input while at the same time ensuring New Yorkers continue to be protected,” Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said in a statement.
The Governor has become entangled in a sex scandal which has taken the focus (purposely) off of his disastrous reign as King of New York and I think the legislature is sugaring their reasoning up to let Andrew Cuomo save some face, but hopefully this is the beginning of a path which leads to his resignation.
Once a person usurps this type of power he or she does not willingly give it back so good luck to New York trying to wrestle this power away from him.

This kind of slid under the radar but last Friday the Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious freedom when it struck down California’s COVID-19 ban on in-person worship by a 6-3 margin. Here is more:
the Supreme Court on Friday ruled 6-3 that Santa Clara County, California, officials cannot forbid churches in the Silicon Valley region from holding in-person worship services.
Chief Justice John Roberts joined with justices Amy Coney Barrett, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch in striking down Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Tier 1 ban on indoor worship services. The majority also singled out the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, noting that its “failure to grant relief was erroneous.”
Liberal justice Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor dissented.
“This is another great victory for California against the governor’s draconian orders,” said Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver.
This is a no-brainer and it should have been a unanimous decision, the Constitution is pretty clear about a person’s right to worship and oddly enough it does not include an exception for a virus. Still we will take the victory and this is a big one. We no longer can trust John Roberts but he got this one right.
Still, I am a little confused because back in May John Roberts sided with the liberals in upholding California worship ban. Maybe one of my California readers can help clarify this for us.

Joe Biden during speech: ‘what am I doing here?’
Joe Biden’s handlers are doing their best to put a lid on the President so that he does not sundown while on camera, however it is not always feasible. Take for instance a speech he gave on Friday when he started reading the names of some of his Democratic cohorts and he got confused and asked “what am I doing here?” Here is the video:
Well, that should instill confidence in the American people that Joe Biden is able to meet with world leaders, manage the economy, and carry out all the other duties of the office. And this is not the first time Joe Biden admitted he did not know what was going on around him while he was on camera. Previously he admitted he had no idea what he was signing as he was signing Executive Orders.

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 KJV)

Here is this week’s open thread. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Here is The Cure performing “The Big Hand” live:
“The big hand makes all of your favorite things
Like all your dreams go small
And all your friends run away
Until your memories fail
And the words don’t fit
But the way the big hand smiles
You just won’t care about it
The big hand makes all of your favorite things
Like all your days run out
And all your hopes disappear
And your smiles just stop
And your eyes go dead
And the shadows start to crawl
In the back of your head
But when the big hand speaks
It’s like fireworks and heaven
So you listen
Don’t think
And wish for nothing at all”
Joe Biden to charge reporters $170 for access to the West Wing
Joe Biden has already limited press access to the White House and now it is being reported here that Joe Biden is charging reporters $170 for access to the West Wing using COVID-19 testing as an excuse. Here is more:
The White House is imposing a new $170 COVID-19 testing fee on reporters who want to access the West Wing, in what critics say is the latest step that constrains press coverage of President Biden.
The Biden administration already imposed sweeping restrictions, including capping at 80 the number of pre-approved journalists who are able to access White House grounds on a given day — each of whom must take a COVID-19 rapid test before 1 p.m.
The latest restrictions were announced in an on-the-record email from White House Correspondents’ Association President Zeke Miller, who is a reporter for The Associated Press.
“The White House has informed us that it has determined that budgetary constraints limit the government’s ability to provide the daily COVID-19 testing that the White House has required for journalists on campus,” Miller wrote.
Suddenly the Federal Government is worried about budgetary restraints?! I think we all know what this is about, the President can only handle so many questions being thrown at him before he starts sundowning and this is a convenient excuse to limit access to the President.
I still remember the hostile relationship Donald Trump had with the media, can you imagine what the press would be saying if he attempted to do something like this to him?

California school board member claims school reopenings are white supremacist ideology
Most people would like to see life get back to normal after the overreaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and part of getting back to normal would be to reopen the schools. This seems like a reasonable idea to me and California is debating a plan to reopen its schools, but at least one person on the California school board thinks this reeks of white supremacist ideology and is having none of it. Here is more:
On Tuesday night, the La Mesa-Spring Valley School Board held a meeting to adopt a plan to reopen schools after almost a year of COVID-19-related closures. Most of the school board members and the superintendent debated reopening, but the board vice-president attacked the very idea of a reopening plan, comparing it to slavery and claiming that such a plan smacks of a “very white supremacist ideology.”
Really? How so? Well, the answer is a bit convoluted but here is more:
When a school board member mentioned that “70 to 80 percent” of families and students said “they would like to come back to school,” Bell-Fontenot asked, “Who are the 70 and 80 percent and where are they? … Which school sites, which language groups?”
“Without any teachers, we don’t have the ability to teach the students,” Bell-Fontenot argued, claiming that not every teacher would be able to get vaccinated by the reopening date.
“So how are we forcing people? That seems like a very white supremacist ideology to force people to comply with, and conform, without thinking about all of their intersecting factors and barriers that exist for all families,” Bell-Fontenot argued, referring to the idea that people from more than one historically-oppressed group (like black women, for instance) face “intersectional” difficulties.
“You’re thinking about one type of family when you’re speaking right now. Just letting you know. Privilege. Check it, you guys,” she said, unironically.
“Let’s stop forcing people to do things they don’t want to do. I don’t want to be a part of forcing anybody to do anything they don’t want to do. That’s what slavery is. I’m not going to be a part of it,” she declared.
And there you have it, some teachers do not want to go back to work and they should not have to. To force them to do what they are paid to do is white supremacy. It was a round about way to get there but this school board member did get there.
While most people just want to get their lives back and assume that everybody else does as well there is a group of people out there who have no intention of getting back to business as usual in this country. While this is but one example the Statists out there have no intention of giving up the control they have usurped over the last year. Once you give up your freedoms it is almost impossible to get them back.

Judge halts Joe Biden’s ban on deportations indefinitely
Back in January a Federal Judge put a 14 day hold on Joe Biden’s Executive Order which halted the deportation of illegal immigrants, this hold was subsequently extended until February 23rd. With the hold about to expire the Texas Judge has now extended the hold indefinitely. Here is more:
A federal judge in Texas indefinitely blocked President Biden’s order banning most deportations for 100 days, dealing a blow to the administration’s efforts to turn back many of former President Donald Trump’s tightened immigration policies.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton earlier sued to block the ban, claiming it was “unconstitutional” and would cause substantial economic hardships on the Lone Star State to carry it out.
“In the instant case, the January 20 Memorandum and the corresponding administrative record fail to indicate the appropriateness and rationality of DHS’s ‘path’ in implementing a 100- day pause on removals. In other words, the Court, even with additional briefing and the administrative record at its disposal, still cannot discern how DHS’s stated concerns are logically connected with – let alone ‘determinative’ of – the action taken, the 100-day pause,” Tipton wrote in a 105-page ruling.
This is a setback for Joe Biden’s immigration policy but the good news for the President is the fact the media refuses to report on the fact he has increased the detention facilities so that he can put more migrant children in cages.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez upset with Joe Biden for keeping migrant children in cages
Yesterday, despite his campaign promise to shut down immigrant detention centers along the border with Mexico, we learned that Joe Biden was not only reopening the migrant children detention centers but was expanding their capacity so his administration could keep more children in cages.
The lack of a reaction from the mainstream media and the Democratic leaders after four years of such concern over the plight of these children and the deplorable and un-American treatment they were receiving was not altogether unsurprising, and actually expected. It seems that suddenly nobody cares about this issue now that it is a Democrat who is continuing Barack Obama’s policy instead of a Republican.
But then along comes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, this is what she had to say about Joe Biden reopening the detention centers:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) says President Joe Biden’s opening of detention centers along the United States-Mexico border “is not okay.”
In a series of statements, Ocasio-Cortez — who once compared border detention facilities to “concentration camps” in 2019 — denounced the Biden administration for opening the facilities and said DHS “shouldn’t exist.”
“This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay — no matter the administration or party,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in reference to the Carrizo Springs facility.
“It’s only [two months] into this admin and our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “That’s why bold reimagination is so [important]. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more.”
She is the only one who is being consistent on this issue by not giving Joe Biden a pass for not only breaking his promise on this but also for doing the exact opposite of what he promised by expanding the detention centers, however she then turns around and uses this as an opportunity to show us how radical she is by talking about eliminating ICE and DHS, and creating a climate refugee status.
She, and the other new faces of the Democratic party are alt-left radicals and they are going to work over the next four to eight years at pulling the party to the far, far left.

Joe Biden reopens migrant children detention centers
We all remember the grief that Donald Trump took for continuing Barack Obama’s policy of sending migrant children to detention centers and how it became a big issue during the campaign when Joe Biden promised to end the policy. Well, that was then and this is now and Joe Biden is reopening the migrant children detention centers. Here is more:
More than 200 migrant teenagers on Monday were sent to a reopened facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, according to CBS News, with plans to expand the number of detained children to 700 in facilities across the country.
Both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris strongly condemned such facilities during the 2020 presidential campaign, accusing former President Donald Trump of putting children and “babies in cages.”
Biden promised during the campaign that he would close the facilities holding detained unaccompanied migrant children.
“It’s a temporary reopening during COVID-19,” she said referring to the decision to reopen the facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas. “Our intention is very much to close it.”
This is not kids being kept in cages,” she said.
Did you notice in there that not only is Joe Biden continuing to lock up migrant children but also that he is expanding the centers?
“We don’t know how many kids are going to be coming in the upcoming days, or weeks or months, and so we have to make sure that our contingency plans include preparing for even more bed space than we think we might need,” the HHS official said.
Days? Weeks? Months? Does that sound like Joe Biden has any plans to stop putting kids in cages, er I mean detention centers, anytime soon? It doesn’t to me either. Promise made, promise broken…
