It is pretty clear that the Democrats’ plan to halt Donald Trump’s agenda through endless investigations is working fairly well. Even if nothing comes from the investigation the Democrats have already achieved a victory by basically neutering the President–the Congress is doing nothing of note and that is what the Democrats have hoped for. Sure they want to take down the President but if all they accomplish is halting his agenda I think they will be happy–other than the violent alt-left which seems to believe Republicans must die.
But the Democrats are not alone in this plan, they have allies in the Republican establishment who would like to see Donald Trump go down–John McCain comes to mind for one but there are others.
Can we add Charles Grassley to the mix? I am not sure, maybe he just succumbed to Democratic pressure, but today he announced the Senate Judiciary Committee would launch an investigation into James Comey’s firing. Here is more:

Shortly after the shooting of Steve Scalice and several others this morning by a deranged alt-left resistance supporter, James Hodgkinson, Representative Tenny of New York received a threatening email with “One down, 216 to go…’ in the subject line.

The office of Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) received a threatening email with the subject line “One down, 216 to go…,” shortly after a shooter opened fire on GOP lawmakers who were at a congressional baseball practice, according to her office.
“Did you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance,” the email said.

Tom Cotton during Jeff Session’s testimony: ‘the only potential crimes we actually know of are leaks’
Jeff Sessions testified today in the Russian collusion scandal and Democrats, longing to find some evidence of collusion, grilled the Attorney General but for all of their bluster they did not feel in necessary to ask Jeff Sessions about the leaks which are running rampant in Washington.
The Democrats are desperately searching for proof to back up their claims but every time they appear on television and make the collusion claim they are forced to admit that “as of this time” they do not have any proof. This has not stopped them from making the claims however.
It was up to Tom Cotton today to remind people that there is proof of crimes but nobody is talking about these crimes. He was talking about the leaks. Here is more:
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) slammed the Russia probe as he listed the most recent leaks of classified information to the press calling them the ‘real potential crimes’ and asked Sessions if the leaks will be ‘prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law’.

The contents of alleged transcripts of conversations between Mr. Flynn and Mr. Kislyak.

Senator Cotton went on to name more leaks then asked AG Sessions if the leaks are a threat to U.S. national security and if the Department of Justice will be investigating and prosecuting them to the fullest extent of the law.
Sessions responded by saying one person has already been arrested and denied bail in Georgia for leaking classified information to the press. Sessions also called the leaks ‘extraordinarily damaging to national security.’

Barack Obama and the Democrats prided themselves on punishing more leakers and whistle-blowers than any other time in United States history but suddenly they have fallen silent in regard to leakers because they like what they are hearing, even if it is unverified and hearsay. CNN: Trashing James Comey won’t help Donald Trump’s legal case because Robert Meuller and James Comey are friends
Earlier today CNN host John King stated that because James Comey and Robert Mueller are friends Donald Trump is not helping his legal case by bashing the former FBI director. Here is what he had to say:
“Bob Mueller, the special prosecutor, is a very close friend of James Comey. I don’t think trashing James Comey, especially if you’re trashing him in ways that are demonstrably false, is going to help your legal case.”

It goes without saying that if Donald Trump is trashing James Comey in a way which is “demonstrably false” that it will not help his legal case but of course we do not know if Donald Trump’s attacks are false, after all James Comey did in fact admit to leaking the transcripts of his personal conversation with the President.
I do believe, as I wrote about here, that it is time for Donald Trump to shut up and let the investigation take its course because he is not helping himself however this leads me to a question.
If Robert Mueller and James Comey are friends, and if James Comey has potentially made himself a subject in this investigation by leaking documents, doesn’t this mean Robert Mueller now has to recuse himself from this investigation? How can we trust him to be non-biased? Okay, that was two questions…
It certainly seems like a conflict of interest and after all, Jeff Sessions thought it fit to recuse himself from the investigation for simply doing his job while a Senator on the Armed Services Committee.

Dianne Feinstein calls for an investigation into Loretta Lynch after James Comey’s testimony
I feel like I am living in the Bizarro World today: first I agreed with Lindsey Graham and now, even more shockingly, I agree with Dianne Feinstein.
There were a couple of blockbuster revelations from James Comey last week during his testimony before they were sidetracked by Donald Trump, probably most notably that Loretta Lynch tried to provide cover for the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal during the election.
Dianne Feinstein appeared on State of the Union earlier today and she stated the Congress should open up an investigation into Loretta Lynch and the possibility that she pressured James Comey to provide cover for the Clinton campaign during the election, here is more:
Lindsey Graham says Donald Trump may ‘go down’ because he can’t keep quiet about the Russia investigation
Lindsey Graham appeared on Face the Nation earlier today and he had some interesting comments in regard to Donald Trump, the Russia collusion scandal, and the President’s agenda.
Here is some of what he had to say:
Here is what I would say. The president got elected by being a fighter, a disrupter. People wanted him to come to Washington and change the place, turn it upside down.
I have gotten to know the president better. I like him. He has got a good agenda. But here is the question. Can you be a street fighter on all things all the time and still be a good president?
My advice to the president is every day you are talking about Jim Comey and not the American people and their needs and their desires, their hopes and their dreams, you are making a mistake.
It is not often that I agree with Lindsey Graham but this is one of those times. Donald Trump might be a “fighter” and a “disrupter” as Lindsey Graham said however it is the Democrats who have successfully disrupted his agenda by keeping the focus on the Russia collusion investigation and Donald Trump is not helping himself because he cannot let this go.

The Department of Injustice will not prosecute two Veterans Affairs officials for misleading the Congress
It is being reported in this story that the Department of Injustice has decided not to prosecute two Veterans Affairs officials who have been accused of misleading the Congress about cost overruns. Here is more:
The Justice Department has declined to prosecute two Veterans Affairs Department executives after lawmakers accused them of misleading Congress about massive cost overruns at a Denver-area VA hospital.
The House Veterans Affairs Committee asked for a perjury investigation last fall, claiming the executives repeatedly gave false testimony that masked serious problems with the hospital construction project.
The Justice Department told lawmakers in a May 19 letter that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman of Colorado released the letter to The Associated Press on Thursday.
The decision means no one has yet been fired or charged since the cost of the hospital ballooned to nearly $1.7 billion, almost triple earlier estimates.
The Veterans Affairs Inspector General had been seeking the charges and he disagrees with this decision:
Accused leaker Reality Winner wanted to burn down the White House and pledge allegiance to the Taliban
Last week an arrest was finally made concerning all the leaks that are coming from the deep state. Reality Winner, a disgruntled Bernie Sanders supporter and #nevertrumper who claimed that being white was a form of terrorism, was arrested and is now facing charges.
It now turns out, according to this story, that she once claimed she wanted to burn down the White House and pledge her allegiance to the Taliban. Here is more:
The woman accused of leaking classified information once wrote she wanted “to burn the White House Down…find somewhere in Kurdistan to live,” prompting prosecutors on Thursday to argue she would flee the country if she was released on bond.
They added that Winner wrote in her notebook alleged plans to set the White House on fire, travel to Afghanistan and pledge her allegiance to the Taliban, WSB-TV reported.
It is still unclear, and deeply troubling, how she was able to get a security clearance from the Obama regime. It is even scarier to think that the same people who gave her a security clearance have been vetting the refugees which have been flocking into the country from war-torn nations in the Middle East.
