Sarah Palin on the GOP establishment: ‘It’s not just the New England Patriots who are dealing with deflated balls’

January 25, 2015

I do not know if you have heard about this or not but the New England Patriots (who are obviously under attack by the left for their “offensive” team name) have been under scrutiny for allegedly having under-inflated balls. Of course I jest–even it you are not a sports fan you cannot help but to have heard of this “scandal” because it has been splashed all over the news as if it is the most important issue facing America today.

I think you all know how I feel about Sarah Palin and her possible run for the Presidency in 2016 but in case you do not here is my position:

The Revolting Truth with Andrew Klavan: ‘Which Black Lives Matter’

January 25, 2015

By now everybody has heard about the #blacklivesmatter movement which has been sweeping across the nation since the death of Michael Brown at the hands of Darren Wilson.

But does #blacklivesmatter really care about all black lives or just the black lives which the movement can use to promote its political agenda?

In his latest The Revolting Truth video entitled “Which Black Lives Matter” Andrew Klavan takes on this controversial topic and exposes the hypocrisy of the movement as only he can.

Toward  the end of this video he explains how this is another attempt to divide the American people (which I often refer to as the Hegelian Dialectic) and he states that EACH life matters because each life is created in the image of God and if we were not we would just be matter and would not matter.

Open thread for Sunday, January 25th: Institutionalized

January 25, 2015

open-thread  Here is the open thread for Sunday, January 25th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

This week we discussed another 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

Now on to the musical selection of the week: As I was driving somewhere this week for some reason I was reminded of a line from an obscure song from the 1980’s which received some modest airplay on alternative radio in Boston.

“All I wanted was a Pepsi and she wouldn’t give it to me.”

That lyric was from a song entitled “Institutionalized” by the band Suicidal Tendencies and I knew that this was the song I was going to choose for the open thread. Here is Suicidal Tendencies performing the song live in 2013.

 So you’re gonna be institutionalized
You’ll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes
You won’t have any say
They’ll brainwash you until you see their way.

How can you know what’s my best interest is?
How can you say what my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I’m crazy?
When I went to your schools, I went to your churches,
I went to your institutional learning facilities?! So how can you say I’m crazy?

They say they’re gonna fix my brain
Alleviate my suffering and my pain
But by the time they fix my head
Mentally I’ll be dead

Sarah Palin says she is ‘seriously interested’ in running for President in 2016

January 24, 2015

Now that the 2014 mid-term election is over the potential candidates for the Presidential election in 2016 are beginning to make their intentions known.

The latest Republican candidate to state that she is “seriously interested” in running for President is leftist antagonist Sarah Palin.

Here is what she said when asked about the possibility that she would run for President of the United States of America:

FCC Commissioner speaks out against the Federal Government regulating the internet

January 24, 2015

Michael O’Rielly   Barack Obama has been urging the FCC to reclassify the internet as a “Title II” utility which would place it in the same category as telephones, television, and radio. If this is done the FCC would then have the ability to push Federal regulations on the internet.

While we might give this idea the benefit of the doubt and say this is a benign effort at ensuring fairness (I am not sure I am willing to do that) this will open up the door to more burdensome regulations and who knows what it will lead to in the future. Simply put–I do  not trust the Federal government.

The reclassification of the internet has been met with resistance from certain groups but on Wednesday it was met with skepticism from what I consider to be an unlikely source–none other than the Commissioner of the FCC, Michael O’Rielly.

Firewall with Bill Whittle: ‘Number One With a Bullet’

January 23, 2015

Well, we are on our way to see American Sniper in a few minutes so I will not be able to get to all of today’s comments until tomorrow morning. However before I go I thought I would leave you with Bill Whittle’s latest Firewall video entitled “Number One With a Bullet.”

It just happens to be about gun control and he throws out some interesting facts. It is brilliant, one of his best.

The Department of Justice is not expected to file charges against Darren Wilson

January 22, 2015

It is now being reported that the Department of Injustice lawyers investigating the shooting death of Mike Brown by Darren Wilson in Ferguson last year will not recommend filing civil rights charges against the officer.

Justice Department lawyers will recommend that no civil rights charges be brought against the police officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo., after an F.B.I.investigation found no evidence to support charges, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

After reports came out that the initial reports about Mike Brown trying to surrender at the time of his death were not accurate the media and many  in the Democratic party irresponsibly stoked a tense situation for what appears to be political motives and continued to do so even after Darren Wilson was cleared in the initial investigation.

The White House is upset John Boehner bypassed Barack Obama when he invited Benjamin Netanyahu to speak on Iran

January 21, 2015

Speaker of the House John Boehner invited the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, to speak at an upcoming joint session of Congress on radical Islam and Iran. In doing so John Boehner breached protocol by not informing Barack Obama about the invitation beforehand.

Needless to say, the White House is not happy about John Boehner’s end-around protocol. Here is what White House Spokesman Josh Earnest had to say about this maneuver:

“The protocol would suggest that the leader of one country would contact the leader of another country when he’s traveling there,” press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters traveling with Obama aboard Air Force One.

“This particular event seems to be a departure from that protocol,” Earnest said.

Me thinks thou dost protest too much! After all Barack Obama is a President who does not have a problem with breaking protocol and doing an end-around the Congress when needs be.  He did it with his Executive Action on immigration, he is using the EPA to implement cap and trade which failed to pass in the Congress, and he is also ignoring the Congress by using the FCC to implement net neutrality without the help of the Congress.

CNN reported on Muslim ‘no-go zones’ many times in the recent past

January 21, 2015

CNN Fox News came under fire from many Democrats and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) for recently doing a report on Muslim ‘no-go zones’ in Europe where allegedly Sharia law has been implemented and no non-Muslims are allowed to enter.

The attacks eventually led to Fox News apologizing on air but that did not stop Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo from threatening to sue Fox News during an interview with CNN. Here is more:

“When we’re insulted, and when we’ve had an image, then I think we’ll have to sue, I think we’ll have to go to court, in order to have these words removed,” Hidalgo told Amanpour in an interview. “The image of Paris has been prejudiced, and the honor of Paris has been prejudiced.”

CNN also ridiculed Bobby Jindal for mentioning these “no-go zones” in a speech but now it turns out, according to this story, that CNN has also reported on the “no-go zones” many times in the recent past.

Democratic Senator Bob Menendez says it sounds as if Barack Obama is getting his talking points ‘straight out of Tehran’

January 21, 2015

Robert_Menendez,_official_Senate_photoI have said this before but I will say it again: while much has been made in the media about the civil war brewing in the Republican party there is also a civil war brewing in the Democratic party which is not getting nearly the coverage in the mainstream media.

It started during the 2014 election campaign when vulnerable Democrats tried to distance themselves from an unpopular President and it continues to an extent to this day. It may not be as glaring or as obvious as the revolt against the establishment Republicans but it exists nonetheless.

The latest example of this comes from Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and his comment was in regards to Barack Obama’s position on Iran.
