Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton grant Ecuadorian family special immigration privileges after thousands of dollars in donations

December 17, 2014

Let’s just say that you are a wealthy, politically connected family in Ecuador and you have been banned from coming to the United States because you were found guilty of providing people who work for you with fake visas but you really, really wanted to come here. What would you do to rectify the problem?

The answer is simple; donate thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates. In other words, buy your way in.

That is precisely what has happened according to this story. Here is more:

Ted Cruz apologizes for inconveniencing his fellow Senators by stalling the cromnibus bill

December 16, 2014

At a luncheon today Ted Cruz apologized for “inconveniencing” his fellow Republican Senators by forcing them to change their travel plans ahead of the holiday when he delayed the vote on the Boehner/Obama cromnibus bill.

  Here is more:

Ted Cruz privately apologized to GOP senators Tuesday for interrupting their holiday schedules by his surprise tactics that effectively brought the Senate into session over the weekend.

According to five senators who attended Tuesday’s caucus lunch, Cruz offered the apology in unsolicited remarks, saying that he regretted if any of his colleagues’ schedules were ruined by his maneuvering. He didn’t say whether he would do something similar again, senators said.

“Yes, the senator acknowledged that a number of his colleagues had to unexpectedly change their weekend plans, and he apologized to them for inconveniencing their personal schedules. That was not his intention,” Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said. “His intention was to secure a vote on President [Barack] Obama’s illegal executive amnesty, and to use every procedural means to do so.”

Federal District Court rules Barack Obama’s Executive action on immigration is partly unconsitutional

December 16, 2014

Earlier today a Pennsylvania Judge, Arthur Schwab, ruled that a portion of Barack Obama’s Executive Action on immigration was unconstitutional.

  Here is more:

According to the opinion by Judge Arthur Schwab, the president’s policy goes “beyond prosecutorial discretion” in that it provides a relatively rigid framework for considering applications for deferred action, thus obviating any meaningful case-by-case determination as prosecutorial discretion requires, and provides substantive rights to applicable individuals.  As a consequence,  Schwab concluded, the action exceeds the scope of executive authority.

Florida teacher reassigned after bringing a toy musket to a history lesson on the Revolutionary War

December 16, 2014

A Florida teacher, Gema Evans, is  the latest victim of the politically correct police. Her crime? She brought a toy Revolutionary War musket to class to use as a prop during a history lesson. For this “crime” she has been reassigned.

  Here is more:

A longtime Osceola County teacher has been reassigned after taking a fake rifle to Neptune Middle School in Kissimmee.

Local 6 has learned the toy musket was used during the history teacher’s lesson on the American Revolutionary War. The eighth-grade teacher, identified as Gema Evans, used the prop last week. But this week, students came forward with concerns. The Osceola County School District said several complained that they were frightened by the replica.

“If it was one of those, like a squirt gun looking thing, then by all means, that’s fine,” said one parent, Lauren Beck.

Harry Reid pledges to extend the Senate session to push through more of Barack Obama’s nominees

December 15, 2014

Ted_CruzTed Cruz has come under fire from so-called conservative leaders in the Republican establishment because they claim it provided Harry Reid with an opportunity to push through many of Barack Obama’s previously stalled nominees. They claim that if Ted Cruz had not done this none of these nominations would have been confirmed but I state here and now that I believe that is a lie.

I maintain the position, as can be read in the link above, that this is simply not the case because Harry Reid had already stated he was open to holding the lame-duck Senate in session in order to confirm as many nominees as possible before the new Republican-led Senate took control.

In my opinion Ted Cruz’s actions did nothing more than reverse the order of the proceedings but the establishment Republicans saw an opportunity to attack a man they hold in contempt because he is not willing to toe the establishment line–and it appears to be working.

Now Harry Reid may have confirmed my position as he is once again pledging to keep the session open for another week to confirm another 23 of Barack Obama’s nominees.

Elizabeth Warren claims she is not running for President

December 15, 2014

elizabeth-warren  An interesting thing has happened since the cromnibus bill was passed: Ted Cruz has been ridiculed for nearly shutting the government down while Elizabeth Warren is being hailed as a middle-class warrior for doing the same.

The calls for Mrs. Warren to run for President have been growing since last week’s showdown to the point where 300 former Obama campaign staffers have sent her a letter stating she should throw her hat into the ring.

Despite this the senior Senator from Massachusetts appeared on CNN and stated repeatedly that she is not going to run for the Presidency.

Here is how it went down:

Ted Cruz under fire for stalling Senate vote on Boehner/Obama cromnibus bill

December 14, 2014

Ted_Cruz  When Harry Reid was forced to pull the Boehner/Obama cromnibus bill from the Senate floor on Friday the soon to be former Majority Leader decided to use the delay to push through many of Barack Obama’s previously stalled political nominees.

The actions of such Senators as Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Elizabeth Warren is what led Harry Reid to pull the bill; but while Elizabeth Warren is basically being hailed as a middle-class warrior for her actions Ted Cruz is meeting a much different fate.

Open thread for Sunday, December 14th: Shadowplay

December 14, 2014

open-thread  Here is the open thread for Sunday, December 14th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

It was a bit slower this week with 11 posts, but did you miss any of them?  If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

I often write about the Hegelian Dialectic but what is it? Why, it is nothing more than “Shadowplay” so here is Joy Division.

  Enjoy:

Is the Boehner/Obama cromnibus bill going to die in the Senate?

December 13, 2014

happy_harry_reid I am sure it is all going to work out (if you can call it that) in the end but for right now, here we go again. It appears as if, much like in the House, usually-opposing factions are teaming up to stop the Boehner/Obama cromnibus bill.

Harry Reid had intended to bring the cromnibus bill to the Senate Floor yesterday for a quick vote in order to avoid a government shut down tonight but he pulled the bill from consideration and here is why:

Newly released emails show Lois Lerner met with the Department of Justice before the 2010 election

December 13, 2014

According to this story, newly released documents obtained by Judicial Watch show that the Department of Injustice was in contact with Lois Lerner about prosecuting certain tax-exempt organizations a full two years before the IRS targeted Tea Party related groups. In fact it now looks as if the groundwork may have been laid shortly before the 2010 election.
