A new report shows there has been no global warming in 18 years

September 8, 2014

global_warming For the sake of this post we will concede the point that at one time there might have been global warming and that it is possible that it was a man-made disaster. Having conceded that point, a new report is out which finds that there has been no global warming for either 17 years and 11 months or for 19 years–depending how one interprets the data.

As this article points out, that means that people who are graduating from high school this year have not seen any global warming in their lifetimes. Yet they are the people most likely to believe this hoax because they have been taught in school their entire lives that global warming exists.

Barack Obama on golfing after issuing a statement on James Foley’s beheading: “I should’ve anticipated the optics”

September 7, 2014

As has been well reported and criticized by people on both sides of the aisle, after issuing a statement on the beheading of American journalist, James Foley, Barack Obama immediately went to the golf course to get in another round.

This had even the most ardent supporters of the President baffled as they wondered how he could be so cold and calloused as to not see it fit not to take in another round of golf after so serious and tragic an issue.

On ‘Meet The Press’ earlier today Chuck Todd asked Barack Obama about this and this is what he had to say:

“But there’s no doubt that, after having talked to the families — where it was hard for me to hold back tears listening to the pain that they were going through, after the statement that I made — that I should’ve anticipated the optics,” Obama admitted. “That’s part of the job.”

I find that statement to be quite interesting indeed because as anyone who has ever tried their hand at the game of golf knows; golf is probably more of a mental game than it is a physical game.

If your mind is not in the right place you cannot golf–or at least cannot golf well–you have to clear your mind of all distractions, slow your pace, relax, and concentrate on nothing but your next shot.

So I find it interesting that while he regrets the “optics” of golfing after issuing the statement he does not regret his decision to go golfing. This says quite a bit about Barack Obama’s mindset in my opinion.

While he claims he was almost brought to tears after hearing the story of family members he was still able to put it all out of his mind and attend to what he apparently thinks is more important.

Supporters of the President claim that golfing is his release, his way of dealing with the stress of the job, but I have a different take on it. I find him to be cold-hearted and uncaring, self-absorbed and detached. Just the fact that he is now only worried about the “optics” after it backfired on him shows me that he is more concerned about how he is perceived than he was about the actual beheading. How else could he possibly get his mind in the right place to golf after this unless it really did not affect him the in the same manner it affected most people?

But Barack Obama was not done there as he lamented the “theater” of politics. Here is what he said:

“Well, it’s not something that always comes naturally to me,” Obama conceded. “But it matters. And I’m mindful of that.”

That statement is half-true: he is right in saying that he is mindful of the theatrics but he is wrong about it not always coming natural to him. This is the man who delayed the rescue of James Foley by thirty days–which allowed ISIS to move the doomed journalist before he could be rescued–so that the rescue attempt would conveniently fall on the Fourth of July.

But theatrics did not play any role in this deadly decision, right?

Open thread for Sunday, September 7th: Who Do You Want To Be?

September 7, 2014

Here is the open thread for Sunday, September 7th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week was yet another slow week politically but we still managed to cover 11 stories. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

Now on to this week’s musical selection: this week I have chosen a song by the band Oingo Boingo entitled ‘Who Do You Want To Be’ (featuring lead singer Danny Elfman sporting a wife-beater AND suspenders, not a combination you see every day) performed live in 1985.

Barack Obama delays Executive action on amnesty until after the midterm election

September 6, 2014

Barack Obama promised that if the Congress did not give him what he wanted on the issue of amnesty for illegal immigrants he would take it on his own by the end of the Summer through Executive Order.

Barack Obama knew all along that while most of the establishment Republicans support amnesty for illegals that they would still use it as a campaign issue in November, and he thought he could deal with that opposition by calling the Republicans the “party of no.” He thought he could use this issue to paint the Republicans as racists even though many of them support amnesty. But I think he probably did not see the backlash coming from vulnerable Democrats, and when they spoke out it eliminated the possibility of labeling the Republicans as racist because at that point the Democrats would have to be painted with the same brush.

The IRS “lost” the emails of five more employees related to the targeting scandal

September 5, 2014

lois lerner Back in June of this year America’s Watchtower reported that in addition to Lois Lerner the IRS had conveniently lost the emails of six other employees who just happened to be connected to the targeting scandal.

And now the list has grown once again according to this story because it is now being reported that the IRS has lost the emails of another five employees who are embroiled in this scandal.

The IRS “improperly ” obtained donor lists for a secret “research” project

September 5, 2014

lois lerner  Back in May of 2013 Lois Lerner apologized for “inappropriately” targeting some conservative groups before the 2012 election. The fact that she had to apologize for this “inappropriate” act is something which the apologists like to forget about. While they claim there is not even a smidgen of corruption within the IRS they conveniently forget Lois Lerner admitted to wrongdoing.

But if this story is true it appears as if targeting conservative groups is not the only “inappropriate” behavior the IRS is guilty of, for new emails show the IRS also “improperly” obtained donor lists of some organisations for a secret “research” project.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz backtracks from her Scott Walker comments

September 4, 2014

debbie-wasserman-schultzYesterday Debbie Wasserman-Schultz made some rather inflammatory comments about Scott Walker when she said he had “given women the back of his hand” and that he (and the Tea Party) were “grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back.”

Today she released a statement in which she backtracked slightly from these comments in a written statement.

Here is part of what she that statement contained:

Benghazi: CIA security members on the scene claim they were held back by the CIA head

September 4, 2014

We are approaching the second anniversary of the terrorist attack in Benghazi which left Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, and Sean Smith dead and we still do not have any answers.

Now three members of the CIA security team in Benghazi are finally starting to speak out about what they claimed happened on the fateful day. They claim the team was geared up and ready to come to the aid of the besieged Americans but were ordered to stand down by the head of the CIA in the region, who they only identify as ‘Bob.’

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz says Scott Walker is giving women “the back of his hand”

September 3, 2014

While speaking about women’s issues today Debbie Wasserman-Schultz wasted no time in laying into Scott Walker for opposing abortion and a minimum wage hike by accusing him of giving women “the back of his hand” and “grabbing us by the hair.”

  Here is what she said:

“Scott Walker has given women the back of his hand. I know that is stark. I know that is direct. But that is reality.”

But of course she could not leave the Tea Party out of the mix:

“What Republican tea party extremists like Scott Walker are doing is they are grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back. It is not going to happen on our watch.”

Needless to say this did not sit well with her political opponents:
