White House uses twerking video to promote Obamacare
Under the title ‘Because accidents happen’ healthcare.gov is now promoting Obamacare with a video of a girl who decided for some strange reason that twerking on the counter-top of a public restroom would be a good idea. Needless to say, the young woman falls off the counter-top and lands on her back. Underneath the video is a caption which states: “Just one accident could mean a huge medical bill that you can’t afford.”
What the regime is conveniently forgetting is the fact that if you are the victim of a twerking accident, or any other accident for that matter, and now have a bad back you will be covered even if you did not previously have healthcare coverage because you can then sign up for Obamacare and you cannot be declined because of this pre-existing condition.
Sounds to me as if the regime is getting pretty desperate to save Barack Obama’s signature legislation. If you are interested in seeing this video you can watch it here, and fear not for I am not linking to healthcare.org.
Chalk this story up in the government overreach category. 28 state Attorneys general sent a letter to five retailers “urging” them to stop selling tobacco products because these retailers also sell health products.
A group of 28 U.S. attorneys general is urging chief executive officers of five major retailers, including Walmart, to stop selling tobacco products, saying it is contradictory to carry such items in stores that also provide health care services.
The companies receiving a letter on Sunday from the group were Wal-Mart Stores Inc, supermarket operators Kroger Co, Safeway Inc, which operate pharmacies, and drugstore chains Walgreen Co and Rite Aid Corp.
“Pharmacies and drug stores, which increasingly market themselves as a source for community health care, send a mixed message by continuing to sell deadly tobacco products,” New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement on Monday.
My question is simple: who cares if they are sending a mixed message? Or, to quote a former Secretary of State, what difference does it make?
How many times in the past have we heard entertainers clamor for higher taxes on the rich? Here is a partial list of entertainers who have done so while stating they would gladly pay higher taxes.
In light of this I read this story with great interest. It seems as though Hollywood is now lobbying for a tax break, with–gasp–business owners, because the higher taxes are causing people to leave the state of California in search of a more business friendly atmosphere. Who woulda thunk it?
As has been previously reported by many outlets Obamacare is dependent on young, healthy people signing up for healthcare in order to subsidize the healthcare of older, more sickly people.
It has been said that without participation of this group of people Obamacare will eventually collapse and so Barack Obama is now actively pleading–this article calls it shaming–younger people to sign up for his signature legislation.
On Seacrest’s show, Obama scolded young people for not signing up in sufficient numbers and warned them that if they don’t come out and support him, he’ll have to fine them.
“If you can afford it–you just decide you don’t want to get it because your attitude is ‘nothing’s ever going to happen to me’–then you’ll be charged a penalty,” he told Seacrest.
Healthcare.gov launched its own scolding campaign with a new ad featuring a stern looking mother figure warning kids that they’d better get covered–or else!
Of course Barack Obama is ignoring the fact that there are two disincentives built into Obamacare which make it unlikely that a majority of young people will sign up for the law.

John McCain wants to send weapons to Ukraine
There is an old saying that goes like this; it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. And John McCain is an old dog, has there ever been a conflict anywhere in the world in which John McCain does not think the United States should be involved?
Apparently John McCain has not learned his lesson from Syria, where US involvement might have been the true reason behind the attack in Benghazi, for now he is advocating for America to send weapons to Ukraine.
“To make it happen, all the president has to do is order it tomorrow,” McCain said. “He can have it done tomorrow.”
“Obviously the situation is very tense,” McCain said, speaking to journalists in Kyiv late on March 13. “It is unclear what (Russian President) Vladimir Putin will do now, whether he decides to move in eastern Ukraine or not, although he has certainly taken all the steps to facilitate such a step–the movement of troops and their concentration in western Russia, the largest airborne operation that the Russians have carried out since World War II.”
First of all, they need small arms but they need other military equipment as well. There needs to be a training regimen also. A lot of their military is not well trained, nor ready to fight. That shouldn’t prevent us from getting arms to them, not just to defend themeless [sic] but as a signal that we are supporting them. I think it’s vital to give them arms and I think it’s also vital to send a message that we’re willing to give them arms with which to defend themselves from an imminent invasion of another party of their country.
For some reason he feels as if what happens between Ukraine and Russia is America’s business but I fail to see what our interests could possibly be. All that we would accomplish by sending weapons to Ukraine, in my opinion, would be to provoke Russia and bring us closer to WWIII. Is that what John McCain wants?
Am I being naive here? If so I welcome people to explain to me why we should be involved in this conflict for I can see no reason and I can see no good coming from our involvement in a regional conflict.
New Hampshire Senate hopeful Bob Smith lashes out at Scott Brown and the Republican establishment
It seems all but certain at this point that Scott Brown will be entering the Republican primary in the hopes of winning the nomination and facing off against Jeanne Shaheen in the general election in November.
As I have written in the past, there are many New Hampshire voters who see Scott Brown as a carpetbagger who cannot be trusted to vote the right way most of the time. It is clear to me that he is the establishment’s choice and because of this he will receive the money and the support from Washington and will be the nominee.
Now that it appears as if Scott Brown is in, his three primary opponents began to speak out against him, the most vocal being Bob Smith. If the name Bob Smith rings a bell it is because he is the former New Hampshire Senator who lost in the Republican primary to John Sununu in 2002. Since that time he has been living in Florida where he has unsuccessfully tried twice to run for the Senate.
Now he is back and to be honest I consider this move to be politically motivated and I see no difference between Bob Smith returning to New Hampshire to run for office and Scott Brown moving to New Hampshire to do the same.
Chuck Schumer to Republicans: Either grant illegal immigrants amnesty or Barack Obama will stop deportations
According to this story Chuck Schumer posted on Facebook the following ultimatum to the Republicans in the Congress who have been thwarting the president’s attempt at granting amnesty to illegal immigrants:
GOP politicians can either “grow our economy by bringing in needed workers in high tech and agriculture areas, and provide a hard-earned path to eventual citizenship for the 11 million in the shadows, or they can sit idly by and watch the President greatly curtail deportations while 11 million continue to live in limbo here in America,”
It is funny but I just do not remember this being part of the Obamacare deal; during a recent interview Barack Obama stated that some Americans are going to have to change their doctors once Obamacare is fully implemented. Here is what he said:
“For the average person,” Obama conceded in an interview with WebMD, “many folks who don’t have health insurance initially, they’re going to have to make some choices. And they might end up having to switch doctors, in part because they’re saving money.”
I distinctly remember hearing him say that under his plan “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.” He stated this unequivocally, there were no ifs, ands, buts, maybes, or any other qualifier to that statement whatsoever. In fact I remember there being an exclamatory “period” at the end of that statement.
If this story is true, and i am positive it is, Scott Brown will be announcing the formation of an exploratory committee for his potential senatorial run in New Hampshire and it will be announced shortly.
Scott Brown has been stringing the voters of New Hampshire, as well as the other Republican candidates , along for weeks and it is more than passed the time for him to make a decision one way or the other. Now it looks as if he is finally taking the next step, and in my opinion this means there is no doubt he will be entering the race.
Looks like we are going to be stuck with him because the establishment Republicans will pour money into his primary campaign in order to make sure he is the one taking on Jeanne Shaheen. Makes you wonder if they have seen the latest polls.
In that poll Scott Brown is losing to Jeanne Shaheen 52-39, mostly because New Hampshire voters consider him to be a carpetbagging Massachusetts liberal who has moved to the state for his own political gain and they do not trust him.
Yeah, that sounds like the candidate the Republicans should run against Jeanne Shaheen. Good luck with that, count me out.
