Since declaring war on the Tea Party donations to Karl Rove’s organizations have dropped 98%
Almost one year ago to the day America’s Watchtower covered the story of Karl Rove creating the Conservative Victory Project in order to protect the Republican establishment from Tea Party challengers in the primaries.
Here is part of what I wrote at that time:
a new group backed by Karl Rove called the Conservative Victory Project is on the scene. The name of this group sounds great but don’t be fooled because it isn’t what it seems to be.
This group is being set up to help ensure that those ruling class elitists in Washington remain in Washington:
The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s efforts to win control of the Senate.
The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.
So now that it has been a full year since Karl Rove declared war on the Tea Party how are his three Super PACs doing? According to this article, not so well for since that time he has seen donations to his pet projects drop by 98%.
Massachusetts Democrat convicted of beating up a woman for not having sex with him is still conducting State business from behind bars
I don’t know it this story has received much national exposure but in case it hasn’t here is the story: Massachusetts Democratic State Representative Carlos Henriquez was convicted of beating up his girlfriend after she refused to have sex with him, yet he refuses to resign and is actually conducing State business from behind bars.
A Massachusetts Democratic state lawmaker who is serving time in prison for beating a woman when she refused to have sex with him continues to serve in the state legislature.
State Representative Carlos Henriquez of Dorchester was sentenced to six months in prison on January 15 after a jury convicted him of beating a woman he had been dating after she would not have sex with him.
According to a Boston Herald report, Henriquez is continuing to conduct business from behind bars, speaking with his staff at least “once a day.”
“We’ve been in regular contact with him, and at this point he’s concerned with the issues of the district,” Henriquez aide Jessica DaSilva told the Herald, saying that he also has been reviewing budget amendments.
Tell me again how the Democrats care about the rights of women, and tell me again how the Republicans are waging a war on women.

Let us pretend for a moment that when you die instead of meeting God and Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates you are instead met with a military tribunal which consists of every single person who fought and died for our freedoms. This tribunal will include heroes from the Revolutionary War all the way up to those who died in the current conflicts in the Middle East.
This tribunal has a strong case against you which you must defend: they will want to know why they died so you could elect politicians who have done everything from setting up “free speech zones” around political conventions, to dictating to you how large your sugary drinks could be, and much, much more.
You will be asked how you allowed this to happen when they died to ensure you were free and you will be charged not for fighting this battle and losing, but for not having fought at all. How will you fair at your tribunal? Bill Whittle has envisioned this exact scenario and while he has done so much to spread the word of governmental overreach even he has to admit he would not be looking forward to such a tribunal.

Henry Waxman will not seek reelection

Republican Congressman threatens to throw reporter off the balcony for daring to ask him a question
After Barack Obama’s State of the Union address last night Rep. Michael Grimm made himself available to the press. However when he was asked about a Federal investigation into campaign fraud he responded by threatening to throw him off the balcony.
“Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f—–g balcony.”
“No, no, you’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy.”
Shortly after the incident Michael Grimm issued a statement which said in part:
“I was extremely annoyed because I was doing NY1 a favor by rushing to do their interview first in lieu of several other requests.
I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor.
Are House conservatives preparing to sue Barack Obama if he acts unilaterally through Executive Order?
Are the conservatives in the House preparing to sue Barack Obama if he acts unilaterally to impose his radical agenda? That is what Michele Bachmann is claiming.
Bachmann said an effort is underway in Congress to take back their “authority under the Constitution as the House of Representatives.” She said the plan is to introduce legislation allowing lawmakers to hire an attorney, so “we can force the president to act under the Constitution.”
“We’ll sue the president of the United States and force him to no longer act unilaterally,” she said.
Bachmann says Obama will have a fight ahead. “If he wants to go forward with his unilateral activity, he better be prepared for the lawsuit that the United States Congress will bring,” she said.
Apparently there is something to this for it looks as though South Carolina Rep. Tom Rice is preparing a bill to do just that if the president insists on acting without the Congress.
ICE officials beg the Republican establishment not to pass amnesty
While the Republican establishment is preparing to bow to their corporate masters, while failing to listen to the American people, by proposing their own immigration reform bill complete with amnesty there is one group of people who have to deal with illegal immigration on a daily basis with whom the Republicans should listen.
If the Republican establishment is not willing to listen to their constituents perhaps they should listen to ICE, for they see firsthand what Barack Obama’s lax immigration enforcement is doing to the country. And they have let their feelings known. Here is part of what Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council, had to say:
The five Republicans who could stop amnesty
Barack Obama’s poll numbers are plummeting, support for Obamacare is at an all time low and falling, he has lost his credibility because of the lie of the year, as he prepares to government by dictate 63% of the people do not trust the president to make the correct decisions, and only 3% of the people believe that immigration reform should be a top priority.
In light of all the bad news and polls surrounding the president, and immigration reform, what is the Republican leadership preparing to do? Work with Barack Obama to pass immigration reform complete with amnesty. And they wonder why their approval ratings are lower than the president’s?
While it is true that according to reports the Republican proposal would grant illegal immigrants legal status while stopping short of giving them citizenship this is still forgiving the illegals for entering the country illegally–in other words this is still amnesty.
CBS edits Ted Cruz interview to remove his comments on Dinesh D’Souza’s indictment and Barack Obama’s abuse of power
I have written several times in the past about the Republicans’ ineptitude when it comes to getting their message out but the role the mainstream media plays in this should not be overlooked. Even when they try to get the word out there they are facing an uphill battle.
For instance, take the interview Ted Cruz recently did with CBS’s program ‘Face the Nation’ as a case in point. When Ted Cruz was on the show all that Bob Schieffer seemed interested in talking about was Ted Cruz’s role in the government shutdown, while Ted Cruz wanted to talk about Barack Obama’s abuse of power.
