Texas lawmaker to introduce a “Firearms Protection Act”
Last week Wyoming lawmakers proposed a “Firearms Protection Act” which would make it a felony for a federal agent to come into Wyoming and try to enforce certain potential bans that it is believed Barack Obama and the Democrats have planned in the very near future.
Today Texas announced it would follow Wyoming’s lead and also introduce a “Firearms Protection Act” which, if I am reading this article correctly, would actually oppose ANY new gun or magazine bans or restrictions–taking it even one step further than the Wyoming plan–while also making it a felony for a federal agent to enforce the upcoming bans.
This law will make “any federal law banning semi-automatic handguns or limiting the size of gun magazines unenforceable within the state’s boundaries.”
Let’s not kid ourselves here; we all know how well nullification works because it has been tried once before to disastrous results and in the end these laws will be found to be in violation of the constitution by the Supreme Court under the supremacy clause: Read more…
Texas Congressman threatens impeachment if Barack Obama uses Executive Order to implement gun control
Barack Obama and Joe Biden have both threatened to use an Executive Order in an attempt to curb gun violence. What does this mean? Does it mean that Barack Obama would actually look at banning assault weapons or high capacity magazines? Does it mean he will order a national registry? Or is it to implement new mental health guidelines?
We simply do not know what Barack Obama has in mind, but one thing is certain–there is no way in hell that Barack Obama has the authority to issue an executive order which supersedes an amendment to the constitution, that would have to be passed by the Congress and voted on by the people.
Barack Obama and the Democrats like to compare the president to Abraham Lincoln, but Abraham Lincoln knew that he couldn’t abolish slavery legally with his Emancipation Proclamation (which didn’t free all the slaves as is commonly believed today, it only freed the slaves in the states in rebellion, states like Maryland would have been able to keep its slaves) and that is why he worked so hard to pass the 13th amendment.

An American-Iranian pastor has been imprisoned in Iran for several months for the crime of being a Christian in a country where the religion of peace rules the day. According to a letter Saeed Abedini sent to his family last week, the Iranian government is threatening to hang him for being a Christian and an apostate.
The United States State Department has said they are concerned about this situation; hopefully more concerned than they were with the situation in Benghazi for we all know how that turned out.
And where is Barack Obama? Why has he not spoken out against this? But of course this is the same Barack Obama who didn’t bother to try to free US marine Jon Hammar while he spent four months in a Mexican jail, and this is the same Barack Obama who failed to send help in Benghazi while four Americans fought for their lives, so I guess I just answered my own questions.

The last few days have been quite busy so I haven’t had the time to post or to comment as frequently as usual and that also means I haven’t had the time to think of a musical theme or selection for the open thread this week.

Obamacare: Dental braces to be taxed
As part of the plan to pay for Obamacare a medical device tax was inserted into the legislation, but of course nobody wanted to actually define what constituted a medical device before the 2010 and 2012 elections because in all likelihood it would mean that Americans would be paying higher prices on these items and Barack Obama didn’t want to be seen as breaking his promise that middle class Americans would not see their taxes go up one dime.
Now here we are after the 2012 election and we are starting to learn what types of devices will be taxed and, as this article reports, dental braces are now considered a medical device and will be subjected to the Obamacare tax.
Technically the device manufacturer is paying the tax, however the cost will be passed on down to the consumer meaning higher prices for everyone whose child (or children) need braces.
When you couple the higher prices people will be paying under Obamacare with the fact that companies are beginning to either layoff current employees, freeze the hiring of new employees, or cutting the hours of employees to avoid the Obamacare mandate and we can see what a disaster this legislation is turning into–and it was all conveniently delayed until after Barack Obama ran for reelection.

In his first term Barack Obama didn’t seem to see the irony of nominating a tax cheat to head the Treasury Department because he basically claimed that despite his flaws Timothy Geithner was the best qualified person to lead the nation out of the economic crisis. Everyone has to pay his fair share, except of course people like Timothy Geithner and John Kerry (who hid his multi-million dollar yacht to avoid paying taxes on it even as he called for higher taxes on the rich) so Timothy Geithner’s unwillingness to pay the taxes he owed was ignored by Barack Obama for the greater good.

Obamacare actually bans gun and gun owner registration
Dianne Feinstein is in the process of finalizing gun control legislation and as part of her bill she calls for the registration of all firearms as well as the registration and fingerprinting of all citizens who own the grandfathered weapons which the bill will ban.
Perhaps Dianne Feinstein should have read the Affordable Care Act before she voted for it because, according to this article, Obamacare actually bans gun registration and the collection of information on legal gun owners:
that amendment (3276, Sec. 2716, part c.) says the government cannot collect “any information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition
Nancy Pelosi once said that the bill had to be passed in order to find out what was in it and I guarantee you that neither Dianne Feinstein nor Nancy Pelosi had any idea this amendment was actually in the legislation. Perhaps they should have talked to Harry Reid because he is the one who inserted the amendment into Obamacare in the first place in order to ensure that the NRA wouldn’t oppose the legislation.
The irony here is just too sweet! However what does the law mean when Joe Biden announced today that the president would use Executive Order in order to pass gun control legislation? What exactly does he mean by this and how far will Barack Obama go with an Executive Order? Those questions still remain to be answered, but one thing is certain; I wouldn’t put anything past Barack Obama at this point…..
Iowa Democrat calls for retroactive gun ban and confiscation
The push to implement new control laws has been growing ever since the Sandy Hook massacre as the gun grabbers finally have a crisis which they feel they can use to do things they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. Rahm Emanuel must be smiling from Chicago.
Last week we saw the state of Illinois put forth a bill which would have banned most weapons in the state and yesterday Governor Cuomo announced he would be introducing new sweeping gun control legislation in the state of New York.
And then of course there is the federal effort which appears to be led by Dianne Feinstein. If Dianne Feinstein has her way most handguns would be banned and those who already own them would be subjected to registering and fingerprinting as if we were criminals.
Now we have a state congressman in Iowa who wants to ban semi-automatic weapons in the state and make the ban retroactive complete with a confiscation effort.
Ed Schultz claims gun laws don’t exist in Chicago
Ed Schultz was comparing gun crimes in New York and Chicago in order to make the case for more gun control, and while doing so he made the statement that because Bloomberg implemented the strictest gun laws in the nation crime was down, while in Chicago crime was up because gun laws were non-existent.
Of course we all know this isn’t true and in fact Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation but that didn’t stop Ed Schultz lying about it in order to push his liberal, unconstitutional agenda.
Bank of America freezes the account of a firearms manufacturer
According to the owner of American Spirit Arms, Joe Sirochman, Bank of America has frozen his company’s account because they do not like the business he is in.
Here is what Mr. Sirochman posted on Facebook:
My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms…our Web site orders have jumped 500 percent causing our Web site e-commerce processing larger deposits to Bank of America. So they decided to hold the deposits for further review
In a way I can understand that position; suddenly Mr. Sirochman is making deposits which are much, much larger than normal so there is a chance there could be something fishy going on that the bank would like to take a look at. Kind of making sure everything is on the level, but that is not what is going on here.
Joe Sirochman was told this by a bank representative:
I finally got a manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for further review — her exact words were — ‘We believe you should not be selling guns and parts on the Internet.’”(emphasis added)
Bank of America seemingly doesn’t believe that Joe Sirochman should be selling weapons and parts over the internet even though it is a legitimate and legal business venture.
Mr. Sirochman is now looking for another bank and I would suggest that anyone who is a gun owner or second amendment advocate who does business with Bank of America do the same.
