The Department of Justice approves New Hampshire’s voter ID law
Back on June 27th, the last day of session, the state legislature voted to overturn Governor John Lynch’s veto of the voter ID law and beginning in this Tuesday’s primary contest the law was slated to go into effect unless the federal government stepped in and stopped it.
I fully expected Eric Holder to intervene by suing the state to stop implementation of this law, and judging by the reaction of the opponents to the law, so did they. Democrats called this law an extreme attempt by the radical Tea Party Republican legislature at stopping minorities from voting because they are nothing but a bunch of racists. You know, the usual name calling.
New Romney ad: What did Bill Clinton say about Barack Obama in 2008?
Barack Obama has called in Bill Clinton, the Big Dog (as Chris Mathews calls him,) to help him with his flailing campaign and the one man who might enjoy the spotlight even more than Barack Obama willingly obliged.
But what did Bill Clinton say about Barack Obama in 2008? He called him the “biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.” Here is the new Romney ad which highlights Bill Clinton then and now:
When I first heard the story about the Democrats removing all references to God from the party platform I thought it was in reaction to MSNBC host Touré’s comment that he was offended Paul Ryan would say our rights came from God and not from the government.
It seemed to me as if they were afraid of offending anyone by mentioning God and once Touré made his comment the Democrats figured this was a mainstream Democrat position so the decision was made that they couldn’t risk offending their base, so God was removed because the didn’t think this would offend anyone.
However, that was quite shortsighted on my part and I was wrong because the party platform was written before the convention and approved by Barack Obama before it was officially announced. Do you remember that Republican primary debate back in January when out of the blue came a question to Mitt Romney about whether states have the right to ban birth control? That question seemed odd at the time, but shortly after this debate Barack Obama made the announcement that all insurance companies had to provide free birth control regardless of their consciences and the faux Republican war on women was off and running. That was a coordinated attack between the media and the Democrats and I think that is also the case here.
Open thread for Wednesday September 5th
I have been working a little overtime which means I head into work an hour early, so I didn’t have time to put up the open thread for Wednesday before I left. I am a little late but here it is; feel free to post links to interesting articles and talk about whatever happens to come up during the course of the day.
Why did Democrats remove all references to God from the party platform?
Last week MSNBC host Touré stated that he was deeply offended when Paul Ryan stated that our rights come from God during his speech at the RNC convention and not from the government.
Apparently taking its cue from Touré the Democrats have removed all references to God from their official party platform.
I immediately thought of that scene from the movie ‘Airheads’ (okay, you probably didn’t see it, but I liked the movie) where Steve Buscemi’s character is quizzing another character and he asks him who would win in a wrestling match between Lemmy and God. The person gives the answer he thought Steve Buscemi wanted to hear and said Lemmy would win. Steve Buscemi then informed him that he was wrong because it was a trick question–Lemmy is God.
Why do I bring this up? Because it appears to me as if the Democrats only have room for one god and that isn’t the God, it is Barack Obama. Liberals still see Barack Obama as the messiah who will slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet all by himself and so they had to eliminate the competition.
Harry Reid’s state of Nevada has received stimulus money for two green energy plants which filed for bankruptcy after receiving federal loan guarantees under the stimulus program. At the time these loans were awarded to these two companies it was well known the companies were in financial trouble and were expected to fold yet the money was awarded anyway in what appears to be an obvious instance of crony socialism designed to reward Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for his efforts to promote Barack Obama’s green energy initiative.
But wait, there’s more as can be seen here:
ENN is a Chinese based solar panel plant which is looking to build a $5 billion plant in, you guessed it, Nevada. Clark County officials approved the purchase of land in Nevada for the sum of $4.5 million even though the land was valued at almost $40 million.
Harry Reid then pressured NV Energy, the largest power company in Nevada, to become ENN’s first customer. Did he do this to ensure the company would be able to build in his state, or is there some other reason Harry Reid took such a vested interest in the company?
The latter seems to be the case in this instance. Sure, the company might be a boon to his state, and after all Senators are supposed to act in the best interests of their states, but it just so happens to be that Harry Reid’s son is a major player in ENN–he is the primary representative for the green energy company and he personally went to China to woo the company to Nevada. What a coincidence!
Harry Reid and his son deny ever talking to each other about the deal, but honesty, even if it is true did they have to talk to each other about it? The father knew what the son was up to and he pressured the state’s largest energy company to become a customer of a company his son was involved in after the company received a sweetheart land deal and we are supposed to believe that he did this without the best interests of his son in his mind? Are we to believe Harry Reid had nothing to do with the land deal either?
Is it any wonder so many people don’t trust the government or think that the government doesn’t have the interests of the people first and foremost in their minds?
New RNC ad hits Obama for increasing the debt to $16 trillion
Today the national debt passed the $16 trillion mark and Republicans wasted little time in releasing an ad on this issue. This ad is effective because it uses Barack Obama’s own words against him. Remember when Barack Obama called President Bush irresponsible and unpatriotic for letting the debt increase to $9 trillion? If raising the debt to $9 trillion makes a president unpatriotic, what does raising it to $16 trillion make a president? And do you remember when Barack Obama promised to cut the deficit he inherited in half? I do, and so do the Republicans:
Earlier today Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh called Scott Brown an “honorary girl” for appearing in a campaign ad folding clothes.
he said Brown “spent a couple million dollars folding towels on TV to prove he’s an honorary girl.”
Needless to say, Scott Brown took exception to this remark:
It seems Professor Warren and her spokesman can’t decide if they are just too good to fold laundry, or if household chores are suitable only for women. Professor Warren should apologize for her own elitist remark, and denounce her spokesman’s insulting comments suggesting folding laundry is a ‘girl’s’ job,”
It sends a very bad message,” the senator said. “Professor Warren and her supporters are demeaning people that are just trying to do the best thing they can for their families. It’s sad. It’s a sign of desperation.
Shortly thereafter, realizing his heinous mistake, John Walsh issued an apology:
In the excitement of getting the convention underway and getting the message out about how important it is to re-elect President Obama and elect Elizabeth Warren, I made a statement about Scott Brown that I regret. I apologize for that remark,
First, let me apologize for being so video-centric recently, I feel lazy just posting videos, but there is so much good stuff out there right now that I simply have to post it.
The Democrats love to call the Republicans racists who would return America to the Jim Crow, Bull Connor, segregationist, KKK era but they conveniently forget to mention that it was the Democrats who were responsible for these policies while Republicans such as Abraham Lincoln and Dwight D Eisenhower who were the ones responsible for ending many of these policies.
Allen West recently appeared on Boston talk radio in an interview with Michael Graham and called out the Democrat party for being responsible for giving us the KKK, Jim Crow, and segregation while calling them out for their hypocrisy on these issues.
Here is the video:
Of course the Democrats will call Allen West an Uncle Tom for taking this position, once again proving that they are the true racists for believing that if a black man eschews governmental assistance they have left the plantation and cannot make it on their own. And the media just play along…..
Video: Newt Gingrich hammers the mainstream media for biased coverage while on ‘Meet the Press’
Newt Gingrich was on ‘Meet the Press’ yesterday and he hammered away at the media bias, including the free pass Joe Biden got for his now infamous chains comment. He also defended Todd Akin, slammed Karl Rove, and brought up the point that the Democrat platform includes the most radical position on abortion to date because it includes taxpayer funding of late term, partial birth abortion. He made the point that if the media did its job and covered the Democrats in the manner it covered the Republicans, and the Republicans got their message out properly, that they would win all these arguments with the American people.
It got to the point where Newt Gingrich turned to Tom Friedman and asked him if he could defend this aspect of the Democrat platform, to which Mr. Friedman sad that he could but then declined to do so.
Here is the video:
