Barack Obama denies his campaign called Mitt Romney a felon
Earlier today Barack Obama finally addressed a White House briefing and when asked he denied that his campaign ever accused Mitt Romney of being a felon:
Well, first of all, I am not sure that all of those characterizations that you laid out there were accurate. For example, nobody accused Mr. Romney of being a felon.
Really Barack? Stephanie Cutter is your deputy campaign manager and this is what she had to say about Mitt Romney:
Cutter said that there were two ways to interpret the story. The first: Mitt Romney was “misrepresenting his position” at Bain to the Securities and Exchange Commission, “which is a felony.”
Or, he was “misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people. If that’s the case, if he was lying to the American people, that’s a real character and trust issue
She claimed that Mitt Romney was either a liar or a felon. Even the head of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, reiterated the point that Mitt Romney is a liar and possibly a felon, and I think she probably has a little bit of time and effort invested in helping Barack Obama’s reelection bid.
And then there is Harry Reid, who made the baseless accusation that Mitt Romney didn’t pay any taxes for ten years. If I am not mistaken that is a felony.
Barack Obama can deny it all he wants but people did accuse Mitt Romney of being a tax cheat and a felon, and some of those people have direct ties to his campaign.
Either Barack Obama doesn’t know what is going on within his campaign or he is a liar. I know which option I think is the truth, what about you? I guess it all depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is.
Todd Akin must step aside NOW!
If you pay attention to politics you have heard the comments made by Missouri Republican Senate hopeful Todd Akin; comments so stupid that Barack Obama felt emboldened enough to come out of his press bunker and make a surprise showing at the White House press briefing where coincidentally the first question asked of him after weeks of silence was about the beleaguered candidate.
I have to admit that when I first heard the comments I thought that Akin must have misspoken, there is no way he could believe some rapes were legitimate while others were not. My feeling was that what he was trying to differentiate between was legitimate claims of rape and false claims of rape. I am sure there are cases where women have lied about being raped either to gain revenge on someone who wronged them, or perhaps a scared young woman who didn’t want her parents to know she was having sex, and I thought that might have been what he was talking about.
New ad hits Barack Obama for slashing non-union Delphi pensions during the GM bailout
When Barack Obama decided to enter the automakers business, in addition to shutting down many dealerships which cost people their jobs, the Obama regime also slashed the pensions (in some cases up to 70%) of non-union retirees while protecting the pensions of union workers. It should be remembered that those who lost most of their pensions had already retired after a lifetime of work and were dependent on the money they thought they had rightfully earned.

Open thread for Sunday August 19: The Big Hand edition
Here is today’s open thread, please feel free to leave links and discuss whatever is on your mind today. I have decided to cut down the number of open threads to probably two a week, most likely one on the weekend and one mid-week, because it seems as if people are trying to follow the conversation in a couple of different open threads at the same time. I think this will help to consolidate the conversation and make it a little easier on everyone to follow the updates.
For my musical selection today I have decided to go into relative obscurity to bring you a song from my all time favorite band–The Cure.
This is a song which was recorded in 1992 for the ‘Wish” album but didn’t make the final cut. It was eventually released as a B-side on ‘A Letter to Elise’ and it is one of my all time favorite songs from The Cure.
There are many opinions as to what the song is about, from God, to drugs, to death, but I look at this song through a political prism, although this is unlikely what the song is about–the Big Hand is the government, promising you the world so you fall in line:

But then The Big Hand takes everything away despite its promises, and that point is driven home in the closing verse:

Barack Obama tries to distance himself from Joe Biden by only letting him campaign is solid blue states

It has been reported that two weeks ago Barack Obama tried to replace Joe Biden on the Democrat ticket with Hillary Clinton, but Mrs. Clinton turned down the offer because she didn’t want to be tied to Barack Obama if she decides to run for president in 2016.
After a gaffe filled week which was capped off with the now infamous “chains” comment (Joe Biden’s week didn’t get nearly the media coverage paid to Mitt Romney’s supposed gaffe filled foreign trip) Barack Obama sent Joe Biden home to think about what he had done, and now with the only viable big name Democrat turning down an offer to replace the vice president on the ticket, Barack Obama is set to do the next best thing–distance himself from his own vice president.
Kirsten Powers admits there is a double standard in the media’s coverage of Joe Biden compared to Sarah Palin
Kirsten Powers was on Fox News to discuss Joe Biden and his comment on Romney and Ryan wanting to put people back in chains and she had a couple of interesting things to say.
She admitted that there was a “glaring double standard” in the way the media covers Joe Biden’s gaffes compared to the way Sarah Palin was and is covered in the media.
She also went on to say that Joe Biden was “overrated” as some kind of “foreign policy genius” just because he has been in the Senate for thirty years.
It is great to see someone on the left come out and admit what many of us have been saying for years, unfortunately I cannot post the video here but if you go here you will be able to watch the full video. MSNBC host apologizes for using the ‘n-word’ but not for calling Mitt Romney a racist
MSNBC host Touré came under fire yesterday for claiming that because Mitt Romney called the Obama campaign ‘angry’ that he was guilty of niggerizing the president.
That really bothered me,” he said. “You notice he said anger twice. He’s really trying to use racial coding and access some really deep stereotypes about the angry black man. This is part of the playbook against Obama, the ‘otherization,’ he’s not like us.”
“I know it’s a heavy thing, I don’t say it lightly, but this is ‘niggerization,’” Touré said to the apparent shock of his co-panelists. “You are not one of us, you are like the scary black man who we’ve been trained to fear.”
Today Touré kinda, sorta apologized, but not really: Touré apologized for using the ‘n-word’ but he did not apologize for basically calling Mitt Romney a racist:
I muddied the discussion by using the ‘n-word.’ I could’ve made the same point without that word. “I shouldn’t have used it and for that I’m sorry
Touré is sorry because by using the racial slur to make his argument the focus of his comment was aimed at the word he used and not the substance of his claim. He is simply sorry that his choice of words took focus away from the point he was trying to make, he is not sorry for calling Mitt Romney a racist and in fact he seems to be standing by that portion of his claim. He still believes Mitt Romney was ‘niggerizing’ Barack Obama, he simply wishes he had put it differently.
In my opinion calling Mitt Romney a racist for calling out Barack Obama’s divisive campaign tactic and hate filled rhetoric is just as offensive–if not more so–than using the ‘n-word’ and he owes Mitt Romney a full apology, not a half-hearted one which came only because he was feeling the heat for his words.

Liberal gunman opens fire at the Family Research Council in Washington, the media remains silent
On May 10th, 2010 Faisal Shahzad attempted to blow up a car bomb in Times Square. Before the facts were known Mayor Bloomberg stated this was probably an act by someone who was upset with Obamacare, but it turned out this was an attempted act of terrorism by a Muslim extremist.
On January 8th, 2011 a deranged madman by the name of Jared Loughner opened fire at a campaign event, killing six and seriously injuring Representative Gabby Giffords. Before all the facts were in the media blamed the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and the rest of talk radio. It turned out that Loughner was apolitical and not associated with any of those blamed for his actions.
On July 20th, 2012 James Holmes walked into a Colorado movie theater and opened fire, killing 12 and injuring dozens more. Brian Ross found a person with the same name as the killer who was a member of the Tea Party and tried to blame the Tea Party for this murder spree. It turned out Holmes was an apolitical madman with no connection to the Tea Party.
On August 5th, 2012 the media finally got what is has been lusting after since Barack Obama assumed the office he currently holds when a white supremacist and neo-Nazi killed six Sikh worshipers. The glee was almost palpable in the reporting of this horrific crime as the media finally could pin a violent crime on the right.
