Why the conservative talking heads are wrong

May 13, 2012

I don’t listen to the nationally syndicated conservative talk show hosts all that much, preferring instead to listen to local talk radio programs, but I do usually tune into Rush Limbaugh at lunch for a few minutes to hear what he has to say, and I do put on Sean Hannity on the way home from work when Howie Carr is on a commercial break.

Rush Limbaugh is almost totally unpalatable because–when he isn’t too busy talking about himself or promoting his iced tea–of the way he revels in the bad economic news, and the joy he seems to take over the unemployment numbers while ordinary Americans are feeling the pain of those numbers is off-putting. And while I find Sean Hannity’s show to be more realistic and down to earth I find these two talk show hosts–and frankly, most conservative talk show hosts to be missing the larger issue.

From what I have been able to glean from my admittedly small listening sample of these two conservative talking heads it appears as if Limbaugh and Hannity seem to feel that all we have to do is elect Mitt Romney, or any other Republican, and all our prayers will be answered; the country will miraculously turn around, and we will be saved from the impending doom. I believe they either don’t understand the true depths of the economic calamity about to befall the nation or they are so blinded by party loyalty that they are purposely ignoring the truth and are touting what is best for the party but not necessarily is best for the country. I do not think it is a case of not understanding.

Video: Son surprises homecoming Marine

May 12, 2012

Who doesn’t love the videos where our returning troops surprise their loved ones? If you are like me you get a little emotional watching these videos and remembering how much these families sacrifice for us. Here is a video where the tables are turned on a Marine who is coming home from his deployment.

This Marine’s son is six years old and has cerebral palsy, the doctors told he and his wife that it was quite possible he would never be able to walk. Well, he learned to walk while the Marine was deployed but the family kept it a secret. Image the surprise when this Marine watched his son walk into his arms for the very first time.

The Washington Post finally admits it had to edit the original Mitt Romney gay bullying story

May 12, 2012

The day after Barack Obama’s evolution on gay marriage the Washington post ran an article about Mitt Romney and how he beat up and cut the hair of a gay boy while he was in highschool. The problem with the article is that it contained false information about one of Mitt Romney’s friends whom the article claimed witnessed the event.

The truth was that Stu White–Romney’s boyhood friend–never even heard of the alleged incident until shortly before the Washington Post asked him about it, yet still the Post reported that White “has long been bothered by the incident.” The Washington Post likely knew this was a lie, and when Stu White was interviewed by ABC News the Washington Post story began to unravel, but rather than come clean about their deceptive article the Washington Post decided to quietly edit the article in the hopes that nobody would notice.

People did notice and finally yesterday the Washington Post came clean to an extent when they put a note at the bottom on the article admitting the original story was edited and clarifying the deception. But the damage has already been done, on the heals of Barack Obama’s evolution the Washington Post tried to paint Mitt Romney as a gay beating homophobe and they did. That is why the note at the bottom of the article does not include an apology for the mistake; it was no mistake and the Washington Post is not sorry.

Elizabeth Warren is NOT a Native-American

May 11, 2012

Elizabeth Warren’s claim that she is 1/32 Native-American, and thusly qualified to list herself as a minority on law school directories, has collapsed around her and it is now almost certain that she contains no Native-American blood whatsoever.

When this story first came to light and the genealogists started digging around to find the truth a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society claimed he had found proof which showed that Elizabeth Warren was 1/32 Native-American because her great-great-great grandmother was part Native-American. Supposedly a marriage license application showed her distant relative to be part Native-American, but nobody has been able to uncover this document.

The Washington Post is forced to edit its Mitt Romney gay bullying story because it contained false reporting

May 11, 2012

It has been known for quite some time that the mainstream media is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the Democrat party, that is not new, but what is new is the way the mainstream media has thrown away its journalistic integrity in recent days. It used to just be the case that there was a liberal bias to most of what was seen and heard in the mainstream media, and that was easy enough to deal with, but lately they have stooped to lying and falsifying evidence to push the narrative they wish to see advanced. And that isn’t so easily dealt with.

We first saw the most glaring examples of this during the Zimmerman/Martin fiasco down in Florida when, in an attempt to push a hate crime and anti-gun agenda, NBC, CBS, and CNN all were caught altering the so-called evidence in the case. All three stations eventually had to backtrack from their outright false reporting.

This appears to be the new journalistic standard being set by the mainstream media; create the story and the narrative then find the evidence to support it. If there is no evidence just make it up or help along the flimsy evidence you may have with a little embellishment if need be. And it appears as if the mainstream media has not learned its lesson–or simply doesn’t give a damn–from the Zimmerman debacle because here we go again.

This time the guilty news organization is the Washington Post.

The University of Pennsylvania had Elizabeth Warren listed as a minority

May 10, 2012

It just keeps getting worse and worse for Pocahontas Elizabeth Warren. Elizabeth Warren swears up and down that the reason she listed herself as a Native-American on law school directories was not to get an advantage she could use to advance her career but rather to meet other minorities who were like herself. When after ten years she realized she wasn’t going to meet any other Native-Americans (because she chose not to attend the events the other Native-Americans were holding) she finally stopped referring to herself as a Native-American in the school directories.

Of course in the meantime she just happened to benefit from her newly found minority status because Harvard was promoting her as proof of the university’s gender and racial diversity. Damn those unintended consequences! But it turns out that Harvard wasn’t alone in touting Elizabeth Warren as a symbol of success in the minority community, the University of Pennsylvania was also duped by the woman who wants to replace Scott Brown:

the Minority Equity Committee of the University of Pennsylvania published a report that listed every winner of the  award since 1991 and highlighted the names of minority recipients — including  Elizabeth Warren’s

Wow! Another unintended consequence which just happened to benefit Elizabeth Warren and her career, what are the chances? This woman’s whole career is based on a lie and now she is looking to ride that lie right into Washington.

Gunrunner: Barack Obama threatens to veto DOJ funding bill because it blocks a gun control law

May 10, 2012

One might think that after Operation Fast and Furious was terminated after it culminated in the deaths of Brian Terry, Jamie Zapata, and hundreds of Mexicans that the Obama regime would have dropped its plans to use the operation as a conduit to implement gun control legislation and the UN small arms treaty, but that isn’t the case at all.

While the chance of gaining support with the American people for gun control laws because of the violence at the Mexican border died on the same night as Brian Terry that doesn’t mean that the regime hasn’t been busy implementing new stealth gun control rules. The Obama regime has been unable to pass legislation, and in fact even gave up on even trying to use the Congress toward this end, but the ATF has been busy implementing new gun rules without the consent of the Congress. Many people wonder is DUI a felony, but it all depends upon the circumstances.

As goes Wisconsin, so goes the nation

May 10, 2012

Often times while writing on this blog I mention the fact that I feel as if it is already too late to stave of the impending total collapse of America’s economy, and I base this on my belief that the growing costs of the increasing entitlement programs and overall government spending are unsustainable coupled with my belief that there is no politician out there on either side of the aisle who will have the political courage to make the necessary tough decisions to fend off the coming collapse for fear of ending his or her political career.

As much as I like to blame the politicians for this, the fact is this issue goes much deeper because much like clay is molded into art by the artist, the politicians are molded by the will of the people. The politicians are afraid to do what is needed because the people will not accept the tough decisions which need to be made.

I site as proof Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

Barack Obama’s foreign policy of “legitimate Islamism”

May 9, 2012

Have you wondered why Barack Obama seems content with the overthrow of leaders in countries such as Syria, Libya, Yemen, and Egypt when it seemed very likely that the freedom fighting rebels are most likely people associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, and the Taliban which would most likely take control of these countries? Is is possible that while many political bloggers realized this was a highly likely scenario that Barack Obama was so naive he couldn’t see this coming?

The answer to that question is a resounding NO! and in fact this was part of Barack Obama’s foreign policy of “legitimate Islamism.”

The war on terror is over,” a senior official in the State Department official tells the National Journal. “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism

So what is legitimate Islamism? Here is a summary:

The  theory is that with secular leaders who were former U.S. allies out of the way  in Middle Eastern countries, radical Islamists will now have an outlet for their  Islamism and won’t join al-Qaeda.

Obama  administration officials were pretty blunt about this in a recent National  Journal interview, explaining that the president came to a “realiz[ation  that] he has no choice but to cultivate the Muslim Brotherhood and other  relatively ‘moderate’ Islamist groups emerging as lead political players out of  the Arab Spring in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere.”

Basically; if we put people with known terrorist ties in the governments of these countries it will give them a legitimate voice and they won’t have to resort to being terrorists anymore. This theory ignores the possibility that these organizations will combine their proclivity for terrorism and their newfound power, which would increase the danger in that region of the world. It certainly seems like a dangerous experiment, but it could be even worse when we take a look at Afghanistan.

We have people fighting and dying in Afghanistan and earlier this week we learned that the Obama regime was secretly releasing Taliban detainees in a good faith gesture in the reported ongoing negotiations between the Taliban and the United States. But what if there is more to it than this?

Could it be possible that as the United States has people fighting in Afghanistan the Obama regime is releasing Taliban detainees as part of its policy of legitimate Islamism in a covert attempt at installing the Taliban in the government of the very country we are fighting in? If true, how many American soldiers are going to die while Obama attempts his legitimate Isalmification of Afghanistan?

If this sounds like a dangerous policy to you, just think about how Israel must feel right now as all of her enemies come to power around her.

Barack Obama’s “evolution” on gay marriage

May 9, 2012

I don’t intend to spend much time on this issue because I believe this was a premeditated effort at creating a diversion from the important issues which started with Joe Biden over the weekend and continued today with Barack Obama’s announcement that he has “evolved” into supporting gay marriage. But this is the big news of the day so I am going to write one quick post about it and then drop it and move on.

I believe I have been fairly hard on Mitt Romney for his lack of core political beliefs; the man is a flip flopper who has taken differing sides on many issues when he felt it would benefit him politically and that is precisely what Barack Obama did today. Barack Obama did not “evolve” in the sense the media would have you believe, he flip flopped on the issue of gay marriage and this isn’t the first time he has done so. Here is a brief history of Barack Obama’s various positions on gay marriage:

Running for the Illinois state senate from a trendy area of Chicago in 1996, he was for gay marriage. “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages,” he wrote in answer to a questionnaire back then. In 2004, he was running for the U.S. Senate and needed to appeal to voters statewide. So he evolved, and favored civil unions but opposed homosexual “marriage.” In 2008, running for president, he said, “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.” Now in 2012, facing a tough reelection campaign where he needs energized supporters of gay “marriage” and has disappointed them with his refusal to give them his support, he is for it

It is clear that Barack Obama did not have an evolution, and in fact he made a calculated political move designed to drum up support with the far left and as we can see above this isn’t the first time he has done so on this issue. It is interesting to note how the Democrats and the media label Mitt Romney a flip flopper (rightfully so, by the way) yet portray Barack Obama as having evolved. It sounds so much nicer but the end result is the same.

While the media is hailing this “evolution” as a great victory for the gay community Barack Obama claims this is an issue which should be left up to the states (and I actually agree with him on this) so what has really changed other than the perception in the minds of many voters? It seems as if he is still playing both sides of the fence.
