Obamacare finally makes it to the Supreme Court
This is a day which many–if not most–Americans have been waiting for for quite awhile now. Just a few days after we celebrated the second anniversary of the passing of Obamacare–curiously an anniversary Barack Obama chose to all but ignore–which, as John at Sentry Journal pointed out here, was ironic for having been signed into law on the very day that Patrick Henry gave his infamous ‘give me liberty, or give me death’ speech all those years ago, the controversial law has finally made it to the Supreme Court.
Patrick Henry offered a choice, liberty or death, and was quite clear on which path he would rather follow. New Hampshire’s Revolutionary War hero General John Stark also coined a famous phrase, in fact part of it is now the state motto, when he stated “live free or die: death is not the worst of all evils.” It is clear that many of our founders, and those who fought for freedom felt that liberty was worth dying for.
Liberty, that is what is at stake here, (and no I am not calling for violent revolution or fighting in the streets, just simply pointing out how important individual liberty is and what it meant to the people who were willing to put their lives on the line to secure it), and liberty is the side we hope the Supreme Court will come down on with their decision, expected sometime in June.
Gunrunner: DOJ blames the Congress for the department’s reluctance to turn over Fast and Furious documents
We saw firsthand last week the depths that Barack Obama will sink to in order to spread the blame around when he actually had the gall to blame both China and the Congress for his failed green energy initiative which cost the taxpayers $500 million when Solyndra went bankrupt, and the Obama regime is at it once again in the Fast and Furious debacle.
The Department of Justice is actually blaming the Congress for not making it possible for the Department of Justice to release the subpoenaed documents the Congress has requested, and is also claiming that the Congress is to blame for the department’s failure to hold anyone within the department accountable for the deadly scandal.
United States soldiers may need search warrants to conduct night raids on the Taliban in Afghanistan in the future
After the horrific killing of 16 Afghan citizens by Staff Sergeant Robert Bales, and the outrage that followed, Barack Obama is trying to calm the situation down and smooth over the tension that has grown between he and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Barack Obama is in negotiations with the Afghan leader and appears willing to cede some United States authority in Afghanistan to quell the anti-American violence in the country.

The administration’s most significant proposed concession on night raids would subject the operations to advance review by Afghan judges, U.S. military officials said. One option under discussion in U.S.-Afghan talks would require warrants to be issued before operations get the green light
Obamacare: Darrell Issa requests documents from HHS related to illegal lobbying with taxpayer money
With the probability that John Boehner put the brakes on Darrell Issa’s Fast and Furious investigation, it appears as if Darrell Issa has moved on to the next looming scandal. This one involves the possibility of illegal Obamacare lobbying with the use of taxpayer money.
It has been reported that the Department of Health and Human Services received grant money to set up a couple of agencies to implement portions of the Obamacare law but turned around and used a portion of that taxpayer money for lobbying instead. A practice that Darrell Issa believes is illegal. Taxpayer money funding lobbyists to fight for more taxpayer money? It sure doesn’t sound like it is on the level, and yesterday Darrell Issa sent a letter to Kathleen Sebelius asking for documents related to the burgeoning scandal. Read more…
In an interview held earlier today, Barack Obama was asked if his “all of the above” strategy for energy independence was right considering that the government lended taxpayer money under the stimulus plan to several companies which subsequently filed for bankruptcy–the most prominent being Solyndra, which was awarded $500 million in stimulus loans before it went under.
Barack Obama defended the program, claiming that it was right, while at the same time trying to distance himself from his failed policy:
We are doing the “all of the above” strategy right. Obviously, we wish Solyndra hadn’t gone bankrupt. Part of the reason they did was because the Chinese were subsidizing their solar industry and flooding the market in ways that Solyndra couldn’t compete. But understand: This was not our program, per se. Congress — Democrats and Republicans — put together a loan guarantee program
Mitt Romney: The Etch-a-Sketch candidate
Fueled by an anti-Obama, anti-Obamacare uprising the Republicans were able to excite the voters in 2010 and they rode a wave to historic gains in the House. The base was excited and couldn’t wait to get to the polls in 2010, but his is not the case in 2012–when the Republicans should have Barack Obama on the ropes–turnout has been low and last night in Illinois the turnout was abysmal, coming in at less than 25%.
This is a year when Republicans should be most enthusiastic about their chances of unelecting Barack Obama, and this is the year when voters should be most excited about heading to the polls and yet we have not seen the enthusiasm from the voters which was expected. This should be deeply troubling to all the people who oppose Barack Obama’s policies and I think the reason is simple and can be summed up in two words–Mitt Romney.
If you go to this Breitbart article you will see a video of Eric Holder in 1995 in which he is basically advocating for a total propaganda war against guns.
In this video Eric Holder is calling for an all out war on guns through indoctrination in the schools “every day, every school, and every level,” and goes on to call for ad agencies to create ads to get in the minds of the people , pretty much 24/7, and saturate the airways with anti-gun propaganda until the people have been “brainwashed” to turn against guns in the manner in which the government changed the minds of the people with regards to cigarettes. (It is interesting to note the great pleasure Eric Holder takes, and the smarmy attitude Eric Holder displays, when he laughs about how the government has forced people to cower outside in shame in the cold while smoking a cigarette because of this very same type of brainwashing. He seems to revel in the fact that the federal government has made a certain segment of the American people miserable.)
The left is now defending Eric Holder by stating that he simply used the wrong word when he said he wanted to “brainwash” the American people, but by watching that video and listening to his words it is plain to see that it doesn’t matter what you want to call it, he was calling for the brainwashing of the American people through an incessant attack aimed at changing the minds of the American people because he simply despises the second amendment.
He still harbors an abhorrence to the second amendment to this very day, going so far as to sell weapons to dangerous drug lords in Mexico in order to “prove” how deadly guns could be in the hands of the wrong people. Operation Fast and Furious was simply an extension of his anti-gun agenda and an attempt to take the brainwashing effort to a new level and Brian Terry is dead because of Eric Holder’s long-held prejudice against the second amendment.
During a House Oversight Committee hearing Energy Secretary Steven Chu was asked to grade himself on his role in reducing gas prices. As gas prices near $4.00 a gallon in most of the nation and $5.00 a gallon in some parts of the nation Steven Chu actually decided that he deserved an ‘A’ for his efforts to control gas prices.
This is certainly a baffling answer considering the skyrocketing price of gas, until you take into account what Steven Chu’s position on gas prices has been in the past; in 2008 Steven Chu stated that “we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” And then just last week Mr. Chu admitted that it wasn’t the goal of the Obama regime to bring down gas prices.
With Barack Obama facing the prospect of a tough reelection campaign Steven Chu last week claimed that he no longer supports raising the price of gas to European levels–isn’t that convenient–but are we really supposed to believe a claim made in the heat of an election and simply discard what his stated opinion has been for so many years? He has flip flopped on this issue in much the same manner Mitt Romney has on so many issues over the years.
Steven Chu gave himself an ‘A’ because gas prices are rising, and he has always wanted gas prices to rise so his policies are working exactly as they were intended to work.
Mission accomplished.
Gunrunner: Operation Fast and Furious target was arrested in 2010 and released from custody
Operation Fast and Furious began on October 31st 2009, and according to internal ATF documents, Manuel Fabian Celis-Acosta was one of the main suspects that the failed operation was targeting. Manuel Fabian Celis-Acosta was arrested a few short months after the deadly operation began, in May of 2010, but was released after Special Agent Hope MacAllister gave him a phone number and he promised to keep in touch with the agency.
Needless to say, Celis-Acosta never called back, he slipped back into Mexico and was never heard from again until he was arrested after Operation Fast and Furious was stopped.
The ATF had in their possession one of the men who was supposed to be a main target of this sting operation and yet instead of prosecuting this criminal and ending the program once it had achieved its objective he was released and the program was allowed to continue until Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was allowed to walk into an ambush the United States government knew was about to happen and laid down his life fighting for a government he never thought would betray him in such a horrific manner.
Barack Obama calls for an end to oil subsidies
Earlier today, in his weekly radio address, Barack Obama called for an end to oil subsidies. This is something that he promised to do when he was running for president in 2008, but he wasn’t able to accomplish this goal even with a Democrat majority in the House and Senate, and so it slid into obscurity.
But this is an election year and as he ramps up his 2012 reelection campaign he has decided to take advantage of high gas prices for political reasons by playing yet another game of us against them, and he is now bringing the issue back to the table after it has been missing for nearly three years.
Claiming that he wanted to put the Congress on record as to which side they are on, Barack Obama had this to say:
They can either place their bets on a fossil fuel from the last century or they can place their bets on America’s future
It seems to me that in the cases of Solyndra, LightSquared, Beacon, Fisker, Tesla, SunPower, and Ener1 the Obama regime has already bet on America’s future and it resulted in the loss of billions of dollars of taxpayers money. It was an absolute failure, yet Barack Obama seems willing to double down on this if he is reelected.
So, which side are you on?
As for me, I will bet on the proven fossil fuels of the last century over the failed and unproven green energy initiatives of the future until it can be shown that the future is more than just science fiction.
