The US Labor Department signs an “agreement” with foreign nations to protect illegal workers
Yesterday U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis signed an “agreement” with several foreign nations which would guarantee protection to illegal aliens working in the United States. Here is some of what she said before she signed the document:
No matter how you got here or how long you plan to stay, you have certain rights. You have the right to be safe and in a healthy workplace and the right to a legal wage. We gather here today to strengthen our shared commitment to protect the labor rights of migrant workers in the United States. Unfortunately, due to language barriers and immigration status, migrant workers can be those that are most vulnerably abused.”
“We’re committed to ending that abuse and in a few moments we’ll sign a new partnerships between the Department of Labor and the embassies of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador,” she said. “These are pledges between our governments to work together to educate migrant workers about their labor rights and prevent abuses in the workplace.”
“During the past year, we’ve signed similar agreements with the embassies–and I’m very proud of this–the embassies of Mexico, Nicaragua, and Guatemala,” said Solis, “and going forward we’ll be pursuing accords with governments from South East Asia and others in the Caribbean wanting to educate and protect those most vulnerable workers that live and reside in this country.”

We are beginning to see some fallout from the failed Obama regime’s Operation Gunrunner program. Today the acting head of the ATF, Kenneth Melson, was reassigned to another position within the Department of “Justice” and Dennis Burke, Attorney General of Arizona–appointed by Janet Napolitano–resigned.
I’ll start with Dennis Burke; this is the man who refused to grant murdered Border Patrol Brian Terry’s family victim status at his upcoming murder trial. The families of murder victims regularly ask for victim status and it is almost always granted, usually any objection to the request is made by the defendant’s lawyer, but in this case the request was denied by the prosecutors. This is highly unusual and it appears as if Dennis Burke made this decision to protect his own ass in case there is a civil suit to follow. Barack Obama’s long lost uncle has finally been found, and most likely the president is wishing that he hadn’t been. Onyango Obama was arrested last Wednesday for drunk driving and is being detained as an illegal alien. In addition to the embarrassment the president should be feeling, the timing of this arrest must be equally troubling to Barack Obama because it was only two weeks ago when the president issued a new policy by decree regarding immigration enforcement.
According to Barack Obama’s new decree, illegal immigrants facing deportation hearings would be let go unless they had committed an additional crime while they were in the country illegally. In essence this was a decree of amnesty to thousands of illegals, including his uncle. But with this arrest Barack Obama’s uncle is now facing at least two other criminal charges, and according to Barack Obama’s new laws this should push him to the top of the deportation list if he is convicted.
Gibson CEO speaks out after raid by the Department of Justice
I wrote yesterday about this disturbing story in which the Obama regime raided Gibson guitar plants for Gibson’s perceived crimes against the environment, but if what Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz says is true this story is even more disturbing than I first thought. It was reported that the federal government raided these Gibson plants because they thought that Gibson was illegally purchasing wood from protected forests in India, but it turns out that is not the case at all.
As Bunkerville first pointed out yesterday in this post, the federal government raided Gibson not because they claimed that Gibson violated not any American environmental laws, but rather because they claimed Gibson violated Indian laws.
Henry Juszkiewicz claims that the notice he received from the federal government stated that he was in violation of Indian law because too much American labor was performed on the wood he received and not enough Indian labor was used in the product before it shipped to his facilities. This is the official position of the United States government according to Mr. Juskiewicz, but apparently this is not the position of the Indian government, which approved the sale of this wood to Gibson as indicated by the fact that Gibson was provided with the proper paperwork from India to verify Juszkiewicz’s claim.
Most of the rumors of Rick Perry’s past have been debunked by those who are supporting him, but there is one issue that still worries my quite a bit about Rick Perry’s past; illegal immigration and his support of the DREAM Act in Texas. I am in the process of giving him a good, hard look but I am still having trouble with this issue, so I have been looking for something to tell me that my fears are misguided.
And today I might have found it because Rick Perry has billed the Department of Homeland Security for the costs of Texas’s detaining of illegal aliens to the tune of almost $350 million.

ExxonMobil files suit against the Obama regime
Claiming that the Obama regime’s decision to pull its lease for deepwater drilling in the Gulf “deprives ExxonMobil of property without due process of law,” ExxonMobil has filed suit against the Obama regime.
When the Obama regime pulled ExxonMobil’s permit the wells had already been drilled and the company was in the process of connecting these wells to existing oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico–the oil was just about ready to flow–but this decision by the Obama regime denied ExxonMobil access to billions of barrels of oil and assured that this loss of property would keep oil prices higher than they would be if Exxon Mobil was allowed to tap into oil reserves which it was already permitted access to.
From his drilling moratorium in the Gulf, which has already been ruled illegal by the courts, to the cap and trade policy which the EPA is readying to implement, every position this president has taken has insured that oil prices will remain high. And now ExxonMobil is claiming that the Obama regime has denied them access to billions of barrels of oil right here in United States’ waters.
Federal agents raid Gibson guitar factories
The Department of “Justice” doesn’t think that voter fraud or voter intimidation is a serious enough issue to pursue, so one of Eric Holder’s first moves was to dismiss the charges in the Black Panthers voter intimidation case. The Departments of Homeland Security and ICE are too busy with shutting down thousands of piracy websites–an understandable crackdown, but one that the DHS and ICE have no interest in involving themselves with–to concern themselves with issues such as enforcing the borders and deporting illegal aliens when they are caught, so Barack Obama decreed new looser immigration laws which included stopping the deportation of thousands of illegals. Barack Obama basically gave the departments charged with enforcing federal immigration laws permission to ignore federal law.
If the federal government is too busy to enforce federal immigration and voting laws there must be an issue that the Obama regime feels is more important for the government to focus on, and as we can read in this article it appears as if “environmental justice” is what this regime is focused on.
Ovide Lamontagne hints at a run for governor of New Hampshire
Ovide Lamontagne first gained a statewide name during the last election when he ran as a little known dark horse candidate for the vacant New Hampshire Senate seat against Kelly Ayotte. He had very little money in addition to little name recognition, but his conservative message resonated with the people of New Hampshire–and within the Tea Party–and in the last week leading up to the primary Ovide Lamontagne made a serious push and came within 1,500 votes of defeating the well funded Republican “establishment” candidate, Kelly Ayotte. Kelly Ayotte went on the trounce the Democrat–Paul Hodes–and has done a wonderful job since winning the senate seat, but it was in defeat when Ovide Lamontagne showed the people of New Hampshire the type of standup guy he was.
Then and now: Barack Obama calls President Bush “unpatriotic” for adding $4 trillion to the national debt
While defending the recent raising of the debt ceiling while the debate was still ongoing, White House Council of Economic Advisers, Austan Goolsbee, claimed that the Republicans were “playing chicken with the debt ceiling,” and claimed that the failure to raise the debt ceiling would bring on a financial crisis, Chuck Schumer claimed the Republicans “held a gun to our heads,” while other Democrats claimed that the Tea Party was holding the debt ceiling hostage. And Joe Biden famously stated according to people present that the Democrats had to negotiate with terrorists over the debt ceiling–he was talking about the Tea Party of course. If there was any doubt about it before the debt ceiling debate, there was no doubt after the debate; the new era of civility and the toning down of the violent rhetoric and vitriol was dead at the hands of the very party that clamored for it in the wake of the Arizona shooting.
Barack Obama himself claimed that it would be irresponsible for the Congress not to raise the debt ceiling and called on the Congress to let him increase his borrowing. Libyan rebels may be drafting a constitution based on Sharia law, does Barack Obama support this?
It now appears all but certain that Moammar Gadhafi’s reign as leader of Libya is over, and I am not sorry in the least to see this terrorist removed from power, but the question remains; who will replace him?
If this report is correct, and as of yet we do not know if it is true, the rebels have drafted a constitution in which Sharia law will be the new law of the land.
Part 1, Article 1: “Islam is the Religion of the State, and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia).” Under this constitution, in other words, Islam is law. That makes other phrases such as “there shall be no crime or penalty except by virtue of the law” and “Judges shall be independent, subject to no other authority but law and conscience” a bit more ominous.
Much like in Egypt, where Barack Obama supported the rebels without knowing who they were–and it turns out that al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood made up at least a portion of the rebels, Barack Obama supported the rebels in Libya without knowing exactly who they were and it now appears as if they are on the verge of implementing Sharia law in Libya.
Barack Obama’s justification for invading Libya was his claim that the United States has an obligation to fight when our values are at stake, but I would ask the president if Sharia law is consistent with America’s values? The answer to that question is obvious, but the answer to the question as to why we were supporting these rebels in the first place remains unanswered.
While the American people might not have been aware of who the rebels protesting in Egypt were, and while the American people might not be aware of who the rebels fighting in Libya are, we all know that the president has access to information that the American people are not privy to. It is beyond belief to me that the president did not have even a small inkling as to who the United States was siding with in these conflicts when you consider the information that the president has at his disposal.
Either Barack Obama did not know who the rebels were, and if this is the case he was woefully negligent and dangerously imprudent in involving the United States military, or he knew who the rebels were and supported their cause. Neither scenario casts the president in a flattering light.
I have made my position clear; I do not believe that Barack Obama would blindly pledge allegiance to–and throw his support behind–a rebel group without fully knowing who the United States was supporting.
