Gunrunner: Project “Gangwalker” allowed guns to be walked into…..Indiana?

September 7, 2011

We all know the story of Operation Gunrunner–in which the government authorized the sale of weapons with the intent of letting these weapons fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels–and we also know about Operation Castaway–in which the government authorized the sale of weapons knowing they would fall into the hands of Honduran gangs–but you probably haven’t heard of yet a third gunwalking program which is now being dubbed Project “Gangwalker.”

While the Obama regime and Eric Holder have attempted to buy the silence of the four operatives who have “the goods” on Eric Holder by “reassigning” them to cushy office positions, this may have backfired as one of the original whistleblowers in the Gunrunner scandal has come forward with more information which shows this scandal is even more widespread than was first believed.

Under “Project Gangwalker” the ATF and the DOF allowed the straw purchases of weapons which eventually ended up in the hands of United States gang members in Indiana and have been found at crime scenes in that state. Read more…

Why Alexis de Tocqueville’s “Democracy in America” is still important today

September 6, 2011

After about five weeks I have finally finished reading Alexis de Tocqueville’s “Democracy in America” and I have to admit that this was not an easy undertaking; while I found some of it to be quite interesting, other parts of this book were, to be honest, just a little boring depending on the subject being discussed in the various chapters.

At times de Tocqueville seems to be a political prophet–he correctly predicted that slavery would tear the nation asunder long before the first outcries of abolition were heard in the legislature as well as the eventual undoing of the American Indians, who he claimed were too proud to succeed in the United States because they would be unwilling to assimilate when it was all but certain that the “Europeans” would eventually rule the entire North American continent.

But the last few chapters are the ones that I found to be the most interesting because we are seeing his predictions unfold right before our very eyes today–his political prophecies are coming true once again. Alexis de Tocqueville wrote about the inevitable centralizing of powers in the federal government: Read more…

Union leader calls for war on the Tea Party: “let’s take these sons of bitches out”

September 5, 2011

Earlier today, at an event for Barack Obama, Jimmy Hoffa had this to say about the Tea Party:

We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war, they got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We’re going to win that war,” Jimmy Hoffa Jr. said to a heavily union crowd.

“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong

He has declared war on the Tea Party while telling the president that the unions are part of his army and he declared that it was time to take we “sons of bitches out.” A rational person could make the claim that he wasn’t advocating violence but rather was using a euphemism for beating his opponents at the ballot boxes–and I would agree.

But we must not forget what the left told us after the Arizona shooting: an unstable person might not be able to tell the difference between literal and figurative talk and could see this as a call to violence so we must tone down the violent rhetoric in order to ensure that something like this shooting didn’t happen again.

I expect Barack Obama to make a public statement condemning this violent rhetoric coming from his largest special interest group at any moment because if he does not than it will show us by his silence that he condones this type of rhetoric when it comes from the left.

Gunrunner: Three people inside the White House knew about Fast and Furious

September 4, 2011

One of my Gunrunner update posts included the news that at least one White House staffer knew about the deadly Gunrunner scandal, and that person was Kevin O’Reilly–the White House Security Director for North America. We are now learning that at least three people in the White House also knew about Operation Gunrunner.

CBS is reporting (you read that right, CBS! Could this mean that the scandal is finally getting big enough that the mainstream media can no longer ignore it?) that besides Kevin O’Reilly there are two others in the White House who received briefings on Operation Fast and Furious, and they are Dan Restrepo and  Greg Gatjanis. The former being a Latin American advisory and the latter being a national security official. There are email connections between these three White House officials and the ATF.

The White House is still denying any knowledge of guns being allowed to walk into Mexico and is claiming that the emails which were released don’t mention that the government was allowing the sale of weapons to criminals. But what type of criminal would be incompetent enough to make a “paper” trail about an ongoing scheme? Naturally these emails would remain bland enough as to not incriminate the people involved. That does not mean that no crime was committed, that simply means that more investigations must be done on the White House’s connection to the scandal because, as the saying goes, where there is smoke there is fire.

It is becoming harder and harder to believe that several people in the White House were briefed on this scandal and not one of them even once mentioned it to the president in one of his daily briefings. I believe that this scandal is getting very close to Barack Obama and the fact that CBS is beginning to cover this story can mean only one of two things; either this scandal is about to close in on Barack Obama and it is getting too big for the mainstream media to ignore, or; CBS is jumping on this story now in order to try to spin it in favor of the president’s ignorance of the scandal.

Either way it is fine with me because at least this story will be in the news–which means in the people’s’ minds–where is should have been all along and the more outlets that are covering it the better.

Democrats hold disaster relief funds hostage in order to save funding for electric cars

September 4, 2011

During the debate on the debt ceiling the Democrats continually accused the Republicans of holding Social Security and Medicare checks hostage, even though this was a lie and the money would have been there regardless of whether or not the debt ceiling was raised. This was a blatant attempt to pressure the Republicans by scaring the senior citizens, and now it appears as if the Democrats are up to similar dirty tricks when it comes to Hurricane Irene disaster relief funds.

Here is what Democracy for America had to say:

We’re hitting Eric Cantor hard—exposing his call to hold Hurricane Irene disaster relief hostage to more cuts in vital programs, like Medicare and Social Security—with in-district ads all next week

According to this Wall Street Journal article, it isn’t the House Republicans who are holding the disaster relief fund hostage at all but rather the Senate Democrats who are playing games with the disaster relief funds.

This week the left-wing press has been attacking House Majority Leader Eric Cantor for holding disaster relief funding “hostage.” A more accurate way to put this is that Senate Democrats won’t approve new funding for disasters unless they get the funding they want for corporations that make electric cars.

The Republicans want to cut the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program, a program which costs $500 billion and is designed to help companies build luxury electric vehicles, and yet the Democrats are purposely misrepresenting this as a vital program akin to Social Security and Medicare when clearly this is not the case.

It appears as if Senate Democrats are holding their political ideology up as a higher priority than helping those most affected by the hurricane. They see this as a “crisis” that they can take advantage of; the Democrats feel as if they can pressure the Republicans into funding a program using the disaster relief funds as a bargaining chip to save a program which will probably be in the crosshairs of the “Super” Committee anyway. This would be a way for the Democrats to secure this program by making it off limits to the “Super” Committee, and while all of this is going on people are still waiting for relief.

Maxine Waters threatens to tax banks out of existence

September 2, 2011

Maxine Waters has a history of threatening private corporations as can be seen in the following video in which she threatens to nationalize the oil companies in the mode of Atlas Shrugged:

And now she is at it again, threatening to tax banks who refuse to modify loans at the behest of the Obama regime out of existence:

What Maxine Waters fails to mention is the fact that while she is railing against the “predatory” loan practices of these evil banks that it was liberal Democrat policies which forced these banks to give out loans to people who couldn’t afford them in the first place. Because these banks faced government reprisal if they did not give out these loans these banks gave out loans to dubious clients, and now that that policy has failed and the country is in crisis people like Maxine Waters are placing the blame for this crisis at the feet of the banks while refusing to admit that it was their policies which made the banks hand out these loans in the first place.

People like Maxine Waters now want to punish the banks for following federal guidelines while at the same time deflecting the blame for the Democrats’ failed policies.

The federal government hands out billions of dollars in tax breaks to illegal aliens

September 2, 2011

According to this article the federal government has handed out over $4 billion in tax breaks to illegal aliens.

The Internal Revenue Service allowed undocumented workers to collect $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits last year, a new audit says, almost quadruple the sum five years ago.

For how long now have we heard the Democrats–and some Republicans, like George W Bush–claim that these illegal aliens are hard working people who pay their taxes? While many of them may indeed be hard workers it seems as if they are not all paying their fair share in taxes after all.

Under the law illegal aliens are not supposed to be eligible for federal benefits and yet they are able to claim a tax credit that many American citizens are not eligible to receive. Orrin Hatch summed up this revelation perfectly:

The disconcerting findings in this report demand immediate attention and action from Congress and the Obama Administration,” Hatch said in a statement.. “With our debt standing at over $14.5 trillion and counting, it’s outrageous that the IRS is handing out refundable tax credits…to those who aren’t even eligible to work in this country

I don’t really have anything to add to what Senator Hatch said other than to quote Boston talk radio icon Howie Carr’s famous words; I don’t want any special treatment, I just want to be treated like an illegal alien.

Barack Obama stops the EPA from implementing cap and trade

September 2, 2011

You may remember that after the Congress failed to pass a cap and trade bill that Barack Obama claimed there was more then one way to skin a cat; what he was referring to was the EPA and its plan to implement a cap and trade on their own without the consent of the Congress. All appeared lost as it seemed certain that Barack Obama would get his radical agenda implemented through the EPA, but earlier today Barack Obama ordered the EPA to cease and desist on its plan to implement cap and trade.

President Barack Obama on Friday scrapped his administration’s controversial plans to tighten smog rules, bowing to the demands of congressional Republicans and some business leaders.

Obama overruled the Environmental Protection Agency — and the unanimous opinion of its independent panel of scientific advisers — and directed administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw the proposed regulation to reduce concentrations of ground-level ozone, smog’s main ingredient. The decision rests in part on reducing regulatory burdens and uncertainty for businesses at a time of rampant uncertainty about an unsteady economy

This is glorious news indeed, but we must not celebrate just yet because the fight is not over. Barack Obama still believes in his cap and trade agenda and because of this the cap and trade issue will not be gone until Barack Obama is gone. Barack Obama admitted that under his energy policy the price of energy would “necessarily skyrocket” and with the dismal job report which came out earlier today Barack Obama simply did not have the political courage to continue pushing a policy which would hurt already struggling Americans even more.

Democrat Congressman claims that the Tea Party wants to see black people “hanging on a tree”

August 31, 2011

A  Democrat Representative from Indiana, Andre Carson, recently had this to say at a Congressional Black Caucus event in Miami:

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me … hanging on a tree.”

He basically said that all members of the Tea Party want to lynch black people, and he also lumped in some Republican members in the Congress for good measure. I need not even mention how offensive and bigoted it is to lump a whole group of people into one category, as he has done, for this statement says more about his prejudice than it does about any member of the Tea Party.

I could take this opportunity to go into a long diatribe about the hypocrisy of the left for calling for a new era of civil discourse and a toning down of the violent rhetoric and the vitriol on the right while not maintaining the same standards themselves. I could even call out Barack Obama’s hypocrisy for not taking this representative to task for failing to live up the the president’s challenge in the wake of the Arizona shooting. Or I could even use this post to call for  Carson’s resignation, or at least censure on the House floor, but I have decided to take this post in another direction because I feel that this is just the beginning of this type of libel as we head into the 2012 election.

Gunrunner: Darrell Issa says the recent house cleaning in the DOJ isn’t enough

August 31, 2011

Pajamas Media has been doing a great job covering the Gunrunner scandal and with this article this morning they did not disappoint. Pajamas Media calls the recent reassignment of Kenneth Melson part of Eric Holder’s attempt to cover up his role in the deadly scandal, and I for one happen to think that this is exactly why Kenneth Melson was reassigned.

Here is part of the Pajamas Media article:

The move is suspect at best, given that Melson gave secret testimony about who knew what and when within DOJ, and included Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer.

ATF Special Agent Vince Cefalu, one of the original whistleblowers on the case, believes it’s motivated by a “cover your ass” attitude on the part of Holder. Cefalu notes Melson is a “lab rat” and believes he should never have been put in charge of ATF in the first place:

I think everything we said all along has been proven to be true. It’s no secret that they’re cleaning house.

Cefalu thinks Holder asked Melson what job he wanted in return for his silence:

You don’t think they gave him that for his stellar performance at ATF, do you?

Kenneth Melson’s reassignment in light of the role he played in the Gunrunner scandal is indeed suspect, especially when we recall the fact that early on in Darrell Issa’s investigation Eric Holder called for Kenneth Melson to resign.
