During a speech to La Raza on July 25th Barack Obama admitted that “the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting,” and yesterday the temptation proved too strong for him to ignore any longer because he announced that his regime ease up on its enforcement of immigration laws.
According to the new laws illegal immigrants will no longer face a deportation hearing simply because they were arrested for being in the United States illegally unless they have committed an additional crime. So instead of deporting illegal immigrants before they have a chance to commit a crime against an American citizen the regime will wait until an American citizen has been victimized by an illegal alien before starting deportation hearings. In other words the Obama regime feels as if it is more important to protect an illegal alien from deportation than protecting American citizens from a potential crime perpetrated by an illegal alien.
Gunrunner: Eric Holder requests documents from Darrell Issa
Eric Holder has tried to downplay Darrell Issa’s Oversight Committee investigation into the Gunrunner scandal by saying that the Office of the Inspector General was conducting its own “independent” investigation into the deadly operation. In order to help the OIG along Eric Holder requested from Darrell Issa the documents related to the secret meeting he conducted with the person Eric Holder tried to make the fall guy–Kenneth Melson.
This makes it sound as if the OIG’s investigation into the Gunrunner scandal isn’t quite as independent as Eric Holder and the DOJ would have us believe. Why would Eric Holder be making the request on behalf of the OIG when the OIG is supposed to be investigating the DOJ’s role in the scandal? Shouldn’t the OIG be making this request if they indeed want to see the documents?
Since the OIG is supposed to be conducting an independent inquiry, it seems odd that the Department would make a document request on behalf of that office,” Grassley and Issa wrote to Holder on Tuesday. “We presume that if the OIG would like to make such a request, it is capable of doing so on its own initiative. However, we have not received any such request from the OIG
The war of words between Rick Perry and Barack Obama
Immediately following Rick Perry’s announcement that he was entering the presidential race the Obama regime went on the attack by releasing a statement attacking Rick Perry’s record as governor of Texas, while claiming that he would continue the failed policies of President Bush and the Republicans.
And then the “charming” woman with the “dazzling smile,” Debbie Wasserman Schultz, actually tried to claim that Rick Perry did not deserve credit for the job growth in Texas, while claiming that the true credit for the job growth in Texas belonged to Barack Obama. This is interesting because Barack Obama is trying to deflect the blame for the stagnant economy in the rest of the country; he can’t have it both ways.

When Barack Obama tried to justify his decision to interfere in Libya’s civil war he laid out the Obama Doctrine, which in a nutshell is this:
when our interests and values are at stake, we have a responsibility to act,” said Obama. “That’s what happened in Libya over the course of these last six weeks
left unchecked, we have every reason to believe that Qadhafi would commit atrocities against his people. Many thousands could die. A humanitarian crisis could ensue
According to the Obama Doctrine the United States should interfere in another nation’s affairs not only when our interests are at stake but also when our values are at stake, and part of those values are ensuring that the leader of another country does not commit atrocities against his or her own people so that a humanitarian crisis can be avoided.
This is an interesting position for Barack Obama to hold considering when he was running for president he claimed that America should not be the police force of the world, but that is just an observation and not the point of this post for we have a situation in Syria which is growing worse by the day.
On his three day this is not a campaign event bus tour Barack Obama tried to defend the recently redeclared (it may not be a word, but I like it!) unconstitutional healthcare mandates claiming it “should not be controversial:”
Here’s the problem – if an insurance company has to take you, has to insure you, even if you’re sick but you don’t have an individual mandate, then what would everybody do? They would wait until they get sick and then you’d buy health insurance, right?” Obama told an audience at the first stop of his bus tour in Cannon Falls, Minnesota on Monday.
“The basic theory is, look, everybody here at some point or another is going to need medical care and you can’t be a free rider on everybody else. You can’t not have health insurance then go to the emergency room and each of us, who have done the responsible thing and have health insurance, suddenly we have to pay the premiums for you. That’s not fair.”
Obama continued, “So if you can afford it, you should get health insurance just like you get car insurance. This should not be controversial but it has become controversial partly because of people’s view that – well, let me just say this, you’ve got a governor who’s running for president right now who instituted the exact same thing in Massachusetts
In a way I can almost understand that reasoning–if you are going to force healthcare providers to cover people with pre-existing conditions than people should have to buy insurance in order to protect the insurance providers from people taking advantage of the situation. But the problem here is the fact that the Obama regime shouldn’t be forcing insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions in the first place–and that is something that Barack Obama is glossing over.
Because the Obama regime is over-regulating the insurance companies, and forcing them to provide unsustainable coverage to people who haven’t paid into the system they have been forced to place never before seen regulations on ordinary Americans just for committing the crime of being Americans.
And he doesn’t think that this is something that is controversial? So far the courts have been almost evenly split on the healthcare mandate and this issue will eventually be heard by the Supreme Court, so yeah, whether Barack Obama likes it or not this is an extremely controversial topic and if the Supreme Court rules that the federal government can force a person to buy healthcare insurance there is no longer a limit on what the federal government can demand a citizen do in the name of the common good.
Gunrunner: The ATF promotes three people at the heart of the Fast and Furious scandal
Three people who were directly involved in the Fast and Furious scandal have been promoted by the ATF, apparently for a job well done. These people are William McMahon, William Newell David Voth; they now will enjoy cushy jobs in Washington DC.
One can only wonder about the motive for these promotions which are coming while the Oversight Committee is still investigating one of the biggest scandals in United States history because the timing certainly seems suspect. I can only come up with four plausible scenarios for these promotions: Either this really isn’t a promotion and these people have been removed from field work and reassigned to Washington as punishment for their roles in the Gunrunner scandal, and the word “promotion” is only being used so that these men can save face, or the government feels as if they actually performed their roles in the scandal according to plan, or they are being moved up in order to protect them from the investigation, or they received these promotions for a guarantee that they will remain silent on the scandal. I can see no other reason for this news, but something just doesn’t wash with this story.
In my opinion this is most likely a payoff in return for their silence moving forward and I hope that Darrell Issa will now expand his investigation and look into why people who were involved in the policy which led to Brian Terry’s death are suddenly worthy of promotions. If Darrell Issa finds that these men were promoted in return for their silence it looks as if we can add another crime to the list in regards to Operation Gunrunner as this rogue regime looks to cover up a scandal which grows bigger with every update.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz claims that Rick Perry doesn’t deserve credit for creating jobs in Texas
Barack Obama is still refusing to accept any responsibility for the continued economic woes of the United States even in light of the fact that everything he has tried to do has not only failed but has deepened the recession. He is crossing the country on the campaign trail trying to blame the Republicans and George Bush for the fact that the United States economy is still in a funk.
One state which has felt the effects of this recession less than most is Texas; 40% of all the jobs created in the country since 2009 have been created in Texas alone. Now that Rick Perry has entered the presidential race the Obama regime is quickly moving to discredit Rick Perry while also trying to take credit themselves for the success of Texas.
Here is what DNC Chair, the “charming” woman with the “dazzling smile” Debbie Wasserman Schultz, had to say after Rick Perry made his candidacy official:
It’s extremely difficult for him to deserve credit for that job creation when you have rising gas prices that created oil jobs that he had nothing to do with; when you have military spending as a result of two wars that created military jobs that he had nothing to do with; when you have the Recovery Act championed by President Obama that created jobs in Texas that he had nothing to do with, so it is way overblown to suggest that job creation in Texas is squarely on the shoulders of his policies.
First, why isn’t Barack Obama taking credit for the rising gas prices since his drilling moratorium and energy policies have led to what is now being credited as a job creator in Texas? And why isn’t he touting his escalation of the war in Afghanistan, as well as his military involvement in Libya as jobs creators? And then there is is stimulus plan which stimulated nothing and turned out to be a giant slush fund to his donors, except apparently in Texas where it was successful if the charming one is to be believed.
So to sum up the official Democrat position: Barack Obama deserves no blame across the country for today’s economic problems because it is all George Bush’s fault, yet he deserves all the credit for the turn around in Texas. Is it any wonder why his approval rating is now under 40% and nobody takes him seriously anymore?
Barack Obama wants to have it both ways but I think the American people see through this.
While giving a speech in India Maureen Chao, a United States diplomat, thought the following comment was appropriate:
But, after 72 hours, the train still did not reach the destination… and my skin became dirty and dark like the Tamilians
Needless to say this comment is not sitting well with the people of India or the nation’s government; both Maureen Chao and the United States have issued apologies for this embarrassment. But this is the type of thing that can be expected when the United States is being run by a bunch of amateurs–she has embarrassed the United States of America on the world stage and I have to wonder about her judgement when she thought this was acceptable. I also have to wonder about Barack Obama’s judgement for sending her in the first place.
This insult was made on foreign soil while she was representing the United States and it must be remembered that these were prepared remarks, this was not off the cuff banter, she had plenty of time to review her words and did not think there was anything wrong with what she had prepared to say.
Gunrunner: No victim status for Brian Terry’s family, and a DOJ assistant tried to stop Fast and Furious in 2009
I have a couple of Fast and Furious updates today courtesy of this article from Pajamas Media, so I thought I would cover them in one post today.
The first update is an apparent attempt by U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke to cover his own ass because of the chance of a future trial related to the Gunrunner scandal; there is a chance that Brian Terry’s family is going to file a wrongful death complaint and this may be an attempt to protect himself and the agency by claiming there were no real “victims” from the sale of the illegal weapons.
The family of Brian Terry filed a motion in court to be considered crime victims in the upcoming murder trial of Jamie Avila; apparently this is a routine request and the families of murder victims are regularly granted this status, but this motion was denied by Dennis Burke: Read more…
