Mitch McConnell introduces a plan which would give Obama the power to raise the debt ceiling without congressional approval
File this story in either the “what the hell is he thinking” category or the “doesn’t he understand what the election was about” category. Last November the voters sent Barack Obama a message, and that message was that we are sick and tired of the out of control spending in Washington.
We sent the Republicans to Washington to reign in Barack Obama’s spending and this debt ceiling debate gives the Republicans the chance to force the Obama regime to make spending cuts. The negotiations have stalled as Republicans hold firm to their no new taxes pledge to the American people, so what is Mitch McConnell’s brilliant idea? To give Barack Obama the power to raise the debt ceiling without debate and on his own unless 2/3 of the House and Senate vote to veto him.
The American people elected (McConnell) to serve as a check on Obama’s appetite for out-of-control spending, not to write him a blank check to continue the binge,” said conservative activist L. Brent Bozell. “It’s these sort of shenanigans that got Republicans thrown out of power in 2006.”
That is exactly right! If this proposal ever became law the Republican party as we know it will never again be trusted by the American people and will be relegated to obscurity in the manner in which the Whigs were in the 1850’s; this will be the end of the party. Mitch McConnell is basically giving the president a blank check and we have already seen this president’s lust for spending, does anyone really think this is a good idea?
In all likelihood this proposal has no chance of becoming law, but while the Republicans have thus far remained united this can only help to undercut their efforts and provide the Democrats with fodder as the debate moves forward. The Republicans need to hold firm and force the president to be the one who has to make the tough decision; either accept the Republican proposal or accept responsibility for letting the United States default, the last thing they needed at this time was a proposal that would give Barack Obama a blank check.

The “Justice” Department orders the ATF to track American citizens who purchase multiple weapons
Shortly after Janet Napolitano assumed control of the Department of Homeland Security the department issued the infamous “right wing extremist” warning which identified certain groups which the government thought posed the threat of violence. Listed among these “threats” were veterans returning from war, as well as people who are anti-abortion and people who were pro-second amendment. The American people were warned to be on the lookout for people who might have pro second amendment bumper stickers on their vehicles.
Shortly thereafter came a report that the violence occurring in Mexico and in the United States along the Mexican border was due to the fact that weapons sold in the United States were traced back to–and responsible for–the violence in Mexico and along the border. It was clear at this time what the federal government was up to; they were preparing to use this “crisis” to implement gun control laws on the American people. Hillary Clinton confirmed this when she made the statement that America’s “insatiable demand for drugs” and inability to stop the smuggling of guns over the Mexican border were directly responsible for the violence. With this statement the die was cast.
Earlier today Barack Obama held a press conference and he declared that there would be no debt deal if the Republicans did not compromise in these negotiations. By compromise Barack Obama is demanding that tax increases be included as part of the deal, something the Republicans have thus far refused to cave in on. By taking on such a strong stance on taxes Barack Obama is engaged in the very same “my way or the highway” approach to the debt debates that he claims the Republicans of. (And of course there is the fact that Barack Obama in 2009, while touting his broken campaign promise to end the Bush tax cuts by extending them, admitted that taxes shouldn’t be raised during a recession.)
I would remind Barack Obama that the American people spoke loudly and clearly last November, so what the Republicans are actually doing is taking the peoples’ side. The American people rejected Obamacare and the out of control spending and taxing in Washington and they responded with their votes in what Barack Obama himself describes as a “shellacking.” Yet Barack Obama and the Democrats ignored the will of the people and forced Obamacare on the people anyway, apparently oblivious to the will of the people. And he is at it again; what he calls “my way or the highway” politics is more accurately described as “the American peoples’ way or the highway,” yet it is becoming more and more obvious that Barack Obama doesn’t give a damn what the American people want or what the American people voted for last November. Flooding in Minot, North Dakota
Taking a bit of a break from politics: There is a town in North Dakota called Minot which is facing troubles equal to which New Orleans faced after Hurricane Katrina. Minot, North Dakota has faced devastating floods and yet the media has not covered this story with the zeal in which they covered the New Orleans flood, and I think we all know the reason why.
If you get your news from the mainstream media you probably have not heard of the flooding in Minot but the residents of this town are feeling the devastating effects of this disaster just as much as the residents of New Orleans did several years ago. Just take a look at this video and you will understand what Minot residents are dealing with.
If you are familiar with this story you might not be familiar with the fact that one of our own conservative blogging warriors has been directly affected by the devastation. John Carey of Sentry Journal lives in Minot, North Dakota and he has seen the devastation from a personal level, yet like others in this part of the country he has been out in front helping his friends and his neighbors pull through this, while at the same time fighting for the larger cause and making the rounds across the blogosphere; only God knows how he is able to do it all.
John Carey has been writing about the Minot flooding as the news unfolds and you can read his latest post here, in this post he includes a link to the Red Cross and I ask that anyone who can to please donate to the people of Minot–I will be his week. If you read through John’s previous posts on the flooding you will see that in the midst of this disaster lies a truly inspiring story of what can happen when people in a community come together and help each other through a difficult time.
If you cannot donate money to Minot I ask that you please keep that community in your thoughts and in your prayers because the people of Minot face an uphill battle, many of them will never return home, but they have been forgotten by the same mainstream media which decided to politicize the New Orleans flooding after Katrina, and because of their unwillingness to cover this story I would venture to guess that donations have been down compared to New Orleans because people simply don’t know what is happening in Minot. The media may have forgotten them, but the people must not.
As if allowing guns to be sold to Mexican drug lords wasn’t bad enough for Eric Holder and the Obama regime, it looks as if this was only a small effort in a grander plan. The ATF was also involved in another gunrunning scandal called “Operation Castaway” which allowed the sale of weapons to Honduras.

“From a first person source she is sh*tting herself trying to cover it up,” the report stated.
About 1,000 guns were sold to a violent drug gang in Honduras, but it is even worse than that because it also appears as if some of these guns made it into Central America and have possibly been linked to violent crimes all across the globe.
I found this video at Texas Fred’s Blog and thought it was well worth sharing.
“Eric Holder and I are taking several new and aggressive steps” to fight the drug cartels under the direction of the president according to David Orden; he then goes on to list those new steps and included in this list is Gunrunner. This does not mean that the president knew the details of the plan at this point, but it is certainly quite contradictory to Eric Holder’s testimony in which he stated he only learned of the operation in the last two or three weeks.
This video confirms that Eric Holder knew about Gunrunner back in 2009, at its inception, but I suppose it doesn’t confirm that he knew the details of the operation. However, if he knew about the operation and didn’t know the details why didn’t he simply admit this during the testimony? Instead he denied all knowledge of the operation and I believe he did so because he did know the details.
It is time for this case to be handed over to a special prosecutor, because we may be reaching the point where receiving Eric Holder’s resignation will not be punishment enough.
The EPA’s circle of trust
I first read about this story on Bunkerville, and it has also been covered at Conservatives on Fire: hopefully this is going to make the rounds on the blogs because we can rest assured that the mainstream media will not cover it. It appears as if there is an EPA “circle of trust” which exists between the EPA and the groups which frequently sue the EPA.
When the Environmental Protection Agency said in late June that it would force Western coal-fired power plants to install haze-reducing pollution-control equipment at a cost of $1.5 billion a year, it said it had to in order to settle a lawsuit by environmental groups.
One organization involved in the suit, the Environmental Defense Fund, has a long history of taking the EPA to court. In fact, a cursory review finds almost half a dozen cases in the past 10 years.
Okay, so the EPA introduced regulations because they were facing a lawsuit by an environmental group and they determined it would be less expensive for the agency to introduce liberty killing legislation than it would be to fight this group in court, what’s the problem?
The odd thing is that the EPA, in turn, has handed EDF $2.76 million in grants over that same period, according to an IBD review of the agency’s grant database
The EPA has donated money to the group which has threatened to sue them repeatedly. And this little circle of trust is not limited to this one group.
This strange relationship goes well beyond EDF. Indeed, several environmental groups that have received millions in EPA grants regularly file suit against that same agency. A dozen green groups were responsible for more than 3,000 suits against the EPA and other government agencies over the past decade, according to a study by the Wyoming-based Budd-Falen Law Offices.
The EPA even tacitly encourages such suits, going so far as to pay for and promote a “Citizen’s Guide” that, among other things, explains how to sue the agency under “citizen suit” provisions in environmental laws. The guide’s author — the Environmental Law Institute — has received $9.9 million in EPA grants over the past decade.
Several groups which regularly threaten lawsuits against the EPA are receiving donations from the EPA, now this is getting interesting. Why would the EPA actually encourage these lawsuits to be brought against them by groups to whom they are donating grant money?
“The EPA isn’t harmed by these suits,” said Jeffrey Holmstead, who was an EPA official during the Bush administration. “Often the suits involve things the EPA wants to do anyway. By inviting a lawsuit and then signing a consent decree, the agency gets legal cover from political heat.
The EPA is doing this because these groups are threatening to sue them over issues in which the EPA agrees with them on in the first place, and they are doing it because it provides them with the political cover needed to justify these regulations to the American people, who might not otherwise accept the burdensome regulations.
This reeks of collusion between these organizations and the EPA in an attempt at deceiving the American people into accepting the EPA’s expanding power. They are all in cahoots with each other. These groups are not serious about suing the EPA, and the EPA is not serious about defending itself against these lawsuits; these powers are working together to implement a radical anti-freedom agenda and the American people are being played for fools.
There is a chess game being played between these environmental groups and the EPA, and the American people are simply the pawns and we will soon be checkmated if we do not declare shenanigans and end this collusion once and for all. Darrell Issa, and the Congress, need to investigate this story because it certainly seems as if something is not on the level here.
Video: Communist Agenda, Grinding America Down
I caught this video over at Conservatives on Fire; it is about the Communist Party USA and their plan to infiltrate the American government and impose communism through regulations while teaching socialism in the schools to indoctrinate the children. They are well on their way of accomplishing their goals and we must not forget that we have a Marxist in the White House who is prepared to help them; as you will see much of what the CPUSA has hoped to accomplish is much the same as what Barack Obama also hopes to accomplish. This is a must watch for freedom loving Americans.
When questioned before the Congress in May of this year about his knowledge of Operation Gunrunner Eric Holder claimed that he first became aware of this failed program only “weeks ago” sometime after it was learned that the operation was directly responsible for Brian Terry’s murder. Yesterday I wrote this post about Darrell Issa’s belief that Eric Holder was not being truthful about his knowledge of Gunrunner when he testified before a Congressional committee.
In that post I showed proof that Eric Holder knew about Gunrunner for at least three months and not the “few weeks” that he claimed. But maybe we can give Eric Holder the benefit of the doubt, maybe he simply had his timeline confused and lost track of time. Maybe was was confused and forgot the date he learned about Gunrunner.
Or maybe not, because if we look at this article which is posted on the Department of Justice’s official website we can see the contents of a speech which Eric Holder was to give at the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference concerning gun violence at the Mexican border. Back on May 3rd Darrell Issa questioned Eric Holder in front of the House Judiciary Committee; he asked Eric Holder when he first heard about Operation Fast and Furious and Eric Holder testified that he “probably” only heard about the operation a “few weeks ago.”
Darrell Issa does not believe Eric Holder is telling the truth:
We believe that he was aware of it much earlier than he said in his testimony and questioning before the Judiciary Committee,” Issa told CNSNews.com in an interview.
“Are we confident that Eric Holder knew it much earlier? No,” said Issa. “Did he know it earlier than he testified? Absolutely”
Darrell Issa doesn’t have the evidence–yet–to make the claim that Eric Holder either knew about the operation from its inception, or possibly authorized it, but he does know that Eric Holder isn’t being entirely truthful about what he knew and when he knew it. This leads to more questions about what Eric Holder is hiding and I expect Darrell Issa to get to the bottom of this.
