Texas lawmaker introduces a bill similar to Arizona’s controversial immigration law
The federal government is challenging the constitutionality of Arizona’s controversial immigration law, but that has not stopped Texas from introducing a bill that would implement laws similar to the contested Arizona law. As soon as the filing period began in the new Texas legislative body State Rep. Debbie Riddle introduced immigration legislation that is sure to draw the ire of the federal government.
Claiming that she is not worried about being politically correct, Debbie Riddle had the following to say about the legislation that she has introduced:
America’s Watchtower Endorses Nancy Pelosi as House minority leader
When the Democrats got “shellacked” in last week’s election it was widely speculated that Nancy Pelosi would retire from the House rather than serve in the minority party. This is something that she has now denied: claiming that not only will she not resign, she will run for the position of minority leader once the new Congress is in session.
If this news is true and Nancy Pelosi does decide to run for the position of minority leader I would like to be the first to endorse her for this position. I cannot think of another candidate in the House who is the face of the Obama regime and better exemplifies the failing of that regime. Nancy Pelosi presided over the House when Democrats lost the most seats in 60 years and I have faith in the fact that if she resides over the House of the next two years the annihilation will be complete when voters next head to the polls in 2012. Together we’re invincible
During the euphoria over last week’s election which sent a message to the Obama regime that the American people have rejected his policies, and wrapped up in the glory of New Hampshire Republicans making gains that I only could have dreamed about, I forgot to post a song during my election wrap up post that I had intended to include if things went our way during the election.

These words ring true to me on a couple of levels, besides the fact that if the American people come together we can defeat an elitist, statist regime hell bent on “fundamentally changing” America, there is the fact that the media and the Democrats tried to marginalize and trivialize the Tea Party movement and that is encapsulated in the lines of the song which state: “during this struggle they will pull us down, but please let’s use this chance to turn things around.”
I know that this song has nothing to do with what is currently going on in American politics, but I do feel the lyrics are relevent because they give us insight into what can be accomplished when people pull together for a common goal. No matter what people say, and no matter how hard people try to discredit you, the important thing is to hold firm in your beliefs and see them through to the end, only then can we say “together we’re invincible.”
We are going to have to remember these words as we move forward, because no matter how much we have gained in this election the media and the Democrats are going to try to “pull us down,” they will not rest just because they lost. On the contrary, they will regroup and come at us once again. We must remain resolute and prepared, we must not take our eye off of the ball now that we have won this election because the battle is just beginning.

ObamaCare: AARP to cut benefits to avoid “Cadillac Plan” tax
Barack Obama and the Democrats made the claim that we needed healthcare reform legislation because the costs of healthcare were skyrocketing out of control and if they did nothing this trend would continue. The Obama regime pledged to provide affordable healthcare to all Americans, while claiming that people who currently had healthcare insurance that they liked would be able to keep that insurance.
But there is one slight problem with those arguments; they are not true. We have passed healthcare legislation and yet the costs continue to skyrocket; billion dollar companies such as McDonald’s threatened to drop their healthcare benefits altogether until the government stepped in and gave them a waiver that exempted them from the minimum healthcare benefits they would have been required to offer; and billion dollar companies like Boeing have scaled back their healthcare benefits in order to avoid the 40% tax on the so-called Cadillac healthcare plans.
Now we can chalk up more victims to the ObamaCare fiasco; the AARP is trying to avoid the 40% tax on the Cadillac healthcare plans so they are now asking their members to pay higher copayments and deductibles as a result of the healthcare reform law.
Most plan co-pays and deductibles have been modified,” Jennifer Hodges, AARP’s director of compensation and benefits, wrote employees in an Oct. 25 e-mail. “Plan value changes were necessary not only from a cost management standpoint but also to ensure that AARP’s plans fall below the threshold for high-cost group plans under health care reform
There you have it, by asking its members to pay more for deductibles and copayments they are diminishing the value of the plan and they are doing it for one reason and one reason alone; because they simply cannot afford to give their members the same benefits and the reason for this is simple–ObamaCare. Rather than keep the same plan in place and pay an outrageous 40% tax, the AARP has decided it would be cheaper for them to cut benefits to its members and pass the additional costs on to the people who can least afford these increases. This seems to be at odds with the state goal of ObamaCare if you ask me.
For years the Democrats have been engaged in the politics of fear with both the poor and the elderly; they constantly claim that Republicans are going to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and social security in an attempt to frighten the people who rely on these programs into voting for them. Yet it was the Democrats, who in order to pay for the disastrous healthcare reform law, cut Medicaid, and now it is the Democrats who are responsible for the AARP’s decision to pass on its increased costs to the elderly in America.
Republicans to open up the amendment process to Democrats
Yesterday, while I was making my rounds to my favorite blogs, I came across a post by Larry at Political Realities that I found interesting. Larry was writing about what the GOP needed to do moving forward now that the election was over.
In this post, Larry suggested that one of the first things the Republicans should do would be to open up the amendment process; this would stop legislation from being debated behind closed doors and also open up the amendment process to Democrats, allowing them to have some input on the final structure of legislation before it is voted on.
This was a House rule from 1994–part of the Newt Gingrich contract with America–until shortly after Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House when she suddenly changed the House rule against the opposition of Republicans. Here is part of what Larry had to say in his post: Read more…
Barack Obama claims the election was not about his policies, but about his lack of communication
After suffering what Barack Obama himself called a shellacking, you would think that the president would finally understand what the American people have been trying to tell him for so many months now, but it appears as if that is not the case.
When the Tea Party first began to speak out against this president and his out of control spending and social engineering the president did not heed the warning signs that were beginning to make themselves seen. And when Scott Brown won the seat in Massachusetts formally held by Ted Kennedy by running as the 41st vote against the healthcare reform legislation the president still did not heed the warning that the American people were trying to send him. He rammed his bill through the Congress against the will of the people.
And now with the red tsunami that swept across most of the country–with the exception of Massachusetts and California–it appears as if the president still doesn’t understand what the American people are trying to tell him.
Cap and trade is dead…..or is it?
Well, the election is finally over but the fight is not. I took last night off in order to savor the victory of last Tuesday’s election but the time has come to re-enter the fray. It is time to start looking forward and so I will start with the news that Barack Obama has admitted that cap and trade is dead. This is great news on its own, but the story does not end there.
While cap and trade as we know it is now off the table, Barack Obama has not given up on the idea of increasing the regulations over greenhouse gasses. Here is what he had to say on this subject:
Cap-and-trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way,” Obama said at a news conference Wednesday, a day after Democrats lost control of the House. “I’m going to be looking for other means to address this problem
The question is, what does Barack Obama mean when he states that he is going to look for other ways to solve the global warming problem?

Election 2010 wrap up
Well, the midterm election is finally over and the results are very good all across the nation and right here in New Hampshire as well. I will start with the results in New Hampshire before touching on what is happening in the nation
First, Democrat John Lynch managed to hold on to win an unprecedented 4th term as New Hampshire governor, but as I speculated earlier, he may be the last Democrat standing when all of the votes are tabulated, and he appears to be just that. Republicans have taken control of both the State House of Representatives and the State Senate, as well as gaining control of the Executive Council. And it looks as if this is more than just a victory, it looks like there will be a large turn around once all of the votes are counted.
New Hampshire Republicans may win 20 State Senate seats!
WMUR’s political expert is now predicting that New Hampshire Republicans may win 20 seats! There are 24 seats in the State Senate and heading into this election, Democrats held a 14-10 advantage.
Most pre-election predictions showed the Republicans gaining a 13-11 or 14-10 majority, basically reversing the majority that Democrats have held.
But the early results show that there is a real chance that republicans may take a huge majority in the State Senate.
If these results hold true and the predictions are accurate the Republicans might gain a veto proof majority in all branches of the state legislature. Republicans will introduce and vote on the upcoming agenda, and even if Governor Lynch–who may be the last Democrat standing–vetoes the Republican introduced bill, the Republicans may be able to over-ride the Governor’s veto, in effect making the governor irrelevant.
Governor Lynch may end up being a GINO, governor in name only, because if everything stays as it is currently the Republicans will be in control of the state.
