Federal Judge blocks Donald Trump’s new asylum rule for the second time

September 9, 2019

Back in July the Trump administration issued a new asylum rule which stated that a person seeking asylum must apply for asylum in the first country that person enters after leaving his or her country before being eligible for asylum in the United States.

That rule was quickly blocked nationwide by a judge in California but then the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals stepped in and narrowed the decision, ruling the judge did not have the authority to block the ban in New Mexico and Texas.

It is now being reported here that the same California judge, Jon Tigar, has re-implemented his nationwide ban on the new asylum rule. Here is more:

A California federal judge reissued a nationwide injunction on Monday, blocking the Trump administration from denying asylum to migrants who have not first applied for refuge in a “third country” they’ve traveled through.

Last month, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals narrowed federal Judge Jon Tigar’s first preliminary injunction to apply only to the 9th circuit. The move allowed the Trump administration to enforce the policy — which would all but deny asylum to Central American migrants — in Texas and New Mexico. The policy will now be blocked nationwide once again.

That sure is interesting, isn’t it? I have no idea how a judge can overrule being overruled on his own without this making its way upward through the court system but he did it. Now can the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals turn around and re-overrule the judge’s self-overrule?

Three states officially cancel Republican primaries to protect Donald Trump

September 8, 2019

We all remember the 2016 Democratic primary season and the way it was rigged to give Hillary Clinton the victory when Bernie Sanders seemed to have all the momentum. The Democrats used super delegates which were party insiders who did not vote for the candidate who won their particular state but rather the candidate whom they personally supported. And of course being party insiders they supported Hillary Clinton.

Now as we prepare for the 2020 primary season the Republican party is acting more like the 2016 Democratic party, only they are canceling the primaries in several states to protect Donald Trump and to ensure he does not have a legitimate challenger.

The rumors started a couple of days ago with a report that the Republican party in four states were considering canceling their primaries and now according to this story it looks as if three states have done so, and this could just be the beginning.

The Republican parties in South Carolina and Nevada announced Saturday that they would not be holding their presidential nominating contests in 2020, and all Republican delegates will be committed to President Trump.

They join the Kansas Republican Party, which confirmed on Friday that it will not hold its caucuses in 2020.

States have until October to submit their delegate selection rules to the Republican National Committee, and several more state Republican parties could vote to cancel their nominating contests before the deadline.

Obviously the Republican party wants to avoid a long, drawn out, bitter primary season where the outcome is not really in doubt. The Republican party could be afraid  of the embarrassment of not having a unanimous decision in favor of the current President, however I think it is likely that they do not want to give the Democrats any ammo to use against Donald Trump and they know the opposition party would jump on the primary race to sew doubts in the voters’ minds. Personally I find it cowardly.

Pete Buttigieg caught drinking from a plastic straw!

September 8, 2019

Apparently this guy named Pete Buttigieg is running for President and like all candidates on the Democratic side of the aisle he is a global warming fear-monger. He has jumped on board with the whole strange attack on plastic straws and recently said that if you eat hamburgers or use plastic straws you are part of the problem.

But when you are part of the ruling elite the same rules do not apply to you–all animals are equal but some are more equal than others…

Joe Biden forgot Barack Obama was the ‘last President’

September 8, 2019

Joe Biden has always had a propensity for gaffes however recently his gift of the gaffe has become more troublesome because he is showing signs of sundowning and his handlers, realizing this, have tried to cut back on his evening schedule.

The latest gaffe comes right in my backyard when the former Vice-President seemed to forget there was a President in between Donald Trump and George W Bush, here is what he had to say while taking credit for the previous attack on the Second Amendment known as the assault weapons ban:

“I’m the only guy that’s beaten them [the NRA] twice. I got assault weapons banned for ten years, it had to be reauthorized because of hanging chads in Florida,” he said. “The last president said no, I’m not going to reauthorize it.”

Of course it did not have to be reauthorized due to hanging chads, that is a confused statement itself, and everybody except Joe Biden understands that George W Bush let the “assault weapons” ban expire and he was not the “last President.” You would think this would not be hard for him to remember seeing as he was the last President’s Vice-President.

You may be willing to cut him some slack on this one but considering all his recent gaffes I think this is part of a troublesome trend.

Kamala Harris supports mandatory gun buyback program

September 7, 2019

“Nobody wants to take your guns away from you, we only want common sense gun laws. The NRA is simply trying to scare you by spreading this lie.”

This is what the gun control advocates tell us all the time whenever the issue comes up but this is in fact the lie. We all know that Democrats want to incrementally do away with the Second Amendment, they have always talked their way around the point because they were afraid to come right out and say it.

But the 2020 campaign has seen Democrats trying to out-left each other and they are no longer afraid to admit who they are or what they believe. (It would probably be more accurate to say  the catalyst for swerving so far to the left in such a short period of time was the election on Donald Trump more so than the upcoming election.) Where once the terms socialist or socialism were considered taboo the Democrats have openly embraced them and the same is happening with gun control.

Robert O’Rourke became the first candidate to admit he supported the mandatory confiscation of some weapons and not to be outdone Kamala Harris became the second and I am sure more are to follow. Here is more:

Kamala Harris said Friday she supports a mandatory buyback of military-style assault weapons, taking a more aggressive position than her main rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“I think it’s a good idea,” she told reporters after a campaign event in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

“We have to work out the details — there are a lot of details — but I do” support a forced buyback, Harris said when asked about the policy. “We have to take those guns off the streets.”

I take issue with a few things in the block quote above: First; in order to have rivals you have to be a serious contender, second; these are not “military style” weapons and there is no such thing as an “assault weapon” and third; the government cannot “buy back” something it did not sell in the first place. But let that go…

The bottom line here is that the Democrats are finally starting to come out of their shells and admit something they had always denied but that we had always known and that is that they are going to come after guns and we all know it will not stop with the so-called assault weapons.

House set to begin formal impeachment probe

September 7, 2019

It is on! According to CNN the House is set to begin an official  impeachment probe just as the 2020 election begins to heat up. Here is more:

The House Judiciary Committee is prepared to vote next week on a resolution laying out the procedures for its investigation now that it is actively considering moving to impeach President Donald Trump, a major step toward formalizing its sweeping probe, according to multiple sources familiar with the effort.

The vote, which is expected to occur on Wednesday, will lay out the ground rules for conducting hearings now that the committee has publicly announced it is considering recommending articles of impeachment against Trump. It is expected to follow the precedent set in 1974 over the committee’s procedures during then-President Richard Nixon’s impeachment proceedings.

Sources told CNN on Friday that the resolution is expected to spell out that Chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, has the authority to call hearings at either the full committee or subcommittee level in connection with its impeachment deliberations.

The resolution, sources say, is expected to make clear that future House Judiciary hearings can be conducted in ways different from most congressional hearings since the panel is considering impeachment. For instance, the resolution is expected to authorize committee staff counsels to question witnesses, something that is typically not done at congressional hearings.

The news comes as Democrats are broadening their impeachment probe to focus on a range of matters, including potential violations of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution and reports that the President dangled pardons to officials if they broke the law to carry out his immigration policies.

Does this mean that Nancy Pelosi is now on board with moving forward with impeachment? With impeachment going nowhere in the Senate this is obviously an attempt by the Democrats to appease the alt-left. It seems to me the same type of useless action the Republicans took on Obamacare over and over again when they knew it was going nowhere.

This will also help to further galvanize an already incredibly divided nation, but if the ultimate goal is to excite the Democratic voters this move could backfire. My guess is that there is more excitement for the 2020 election on the Democratic side of the aisle so this could actually motivate Republican voters to the polls, nothing spurs people to action like the belief an injustice is being done against them.

Republicans to drop primaries in four states to protect Donald Trump

September 7, 2019

As you know there are a couple of people who have decided to primary Donald Trump in the 2020 campaign. Of course they have no chance of knocking off the President but the Republican party is still upset at this turn of events and now it is being reported that four states actually plan to cancel their primaries to  impede those rogue Republicans. Here is more:

The Republican parties in Arizona, Kansas, Nevada, and South Carolina intend to cancel the 2020 presidential primaries in their states, according to three people familiar with their plans, a move aimed at depriving President Trump’s long-shot challengers of chances to build support.

The state parties have yet to formalize their decisions, but Trump’s challengers denounced the move. Joe Walsh, a former Tea Party congressman from Illinois who announced his candidacy last month, said he planned to fight the move both legally and by appealing directly to voters in those four states.

Personally I believe this is a stupid idea and it sounds like something the Democrats would do. We saw the way the 2016 Democratic primary was rigged with the super delegates to deny Bernie Sanders any chance of winning the nomination even though he had the momentum and in the end might have beaten Donald Trump, and this reeks of the same stench.

Donald Trump is in no danger of losing the nomination and as far as the other candidates taking support away from Donald Trump, that is not going to happen. His supporters are not going to abandon him (I reserve the right to change my mind if he signs gun control legislation) and those never-Trumpers in the Republican party are not going to vote for him anyway. There is no benefit to this other than to avoid potential embarrassment and I think this attempt is an embarrassment in and of itself.

Devin Nunez files racketeering lawsuit against Fusion GPS

September 4, 2019

According to this story Devin Nunes is filing a racketeering lawsuit against Fusion GPS and the Campaign for Accountability for smearing him because he had the audacity to investigate their roles in the fake Russian dossier. Here is more:

Rep. Devin Nunes filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against opposition research firm Fusion GPS and the Campaign for Accountability, accusing the two of smearing him over his investigation into Fusion GPS’s and the Steele dossier.

The complaint, which the California Republican filed in federal court in Virginia, alleges that Fusion GPS and Campaign for Accountability (CfA) worked on a “joint and systematic effort to intimidate, harass, threaten, influence, interfere with, impede, and ultimately to derail” Nunes’ investigation of the dossier, which he directed as chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

In the lawsuit, Nunes draws a link between CfA payments to Fusion GPS and a string of ethics complaints that the watchdog group filed against him last year.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported Aug. 1 that CfA’s 2018 tax filings show the group paid Fusion GPS nearly $140,000 unspecified research activities.

The complaint basically claims that the Campaign for Accountability paid Fusion GPS to file ethics complaints against Devin Nunes, but that claim is naturally being denied. And of course Fusion GPS would never take money for such a devious reason as creating something out of thin air to use against a political opponent…

Joe Biden wants to ban guns with magazines that hold ‘multiple bullets’

September 3, 2019

As I mentioned yesterday when Robert O’Rourke admitted he wanted to confiscate weapons from the American people, the Democrats claim they do not want to take guns away from the American people but are simply looking for “common sense” gun laws.

Now it is Joe Biden’s turn to admit he also apparently thinks the only gun anybody should be able to own is a blunderbuss, or maybe if he is feeling generous a shotgun because he is calling for a ban on all firearms which have magazines that hold multiple bullets. Here is what he said:

“Having assault weapons on the street and magazines carrying multiple bullets is irrational. There is no need for it, and your Second Amendment rights are in no way violated.”

Perhaps the former Vice President misspoke yet again but this is the man who once admitted telling his wife that if she ever heard an intruder she should grab a shotgun and fire it recklessly and blindly into the air so I would say the man is not capable or qualified to make any decisions on what types of firearms a person can own. And the same goes for anybody who does not understand what is so outrageous about banning weapons with magazines that hold multiple bullets; you are not even qualified to speak on the issue.

Joe Biden recently defended himself concerning his recent gaffes by claiming “the details are irrelevant in terms of decision-making” but when it comes to the Second Amendment I believe the details of his plan are very important.
