Contrary to the promise that President Obama made to the American people during the campaign he will be raising taxes on most Americans if his healthcare reform bill is ever signed into law.
The president claimed that he would lower taxes on 95% of Americans but if the healthcare reform bill ever becomes law I think that it is safe to say that 95% of Americans will see a tax increase.
Multiple taxes are being looked at by congress to pay for healthcare reform legislation including taxes on soda and alcohol as well as a “value-added tax” which is nothing more than a national sales tax on goods purchased by ALL Americans. And if you already have health insurance, as most Americans do, you are probably going to get screwed twice over as your healthcare benefits will be taxed to pay for those without insurance, a plan that President Obama slammed, rightfully so, when it was proposed by John McCain during the campaign. But now that option is on the table.
All of these taxes will affect a vast majority of Americans and they all run counter to Obama’s promise that he would lower taxes on 95% of Americans but then again nobody really believed that Obama was telling the truth about his tax plans, did they?
We are constantly being told that we have to do something but sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something. I have to believe that this is one of those instances.
Healthcare Reform is Losing Support in Congress
In what can only be seen as good news for the taxpayers of the United States it seems as if support for healthcare reform is waning in congress. As the cost of President Obama’s healthcare reform bill continues to rise, last estimated at $1.6 trillion and it can be expected to rise even higher, the bickering in congress has gone from partisan bickering to fighting within both parties. It appears as though this bill isn’t going to pass as easily as I had feared.
As Democrat congressman Jim Cooper said, “All I know is that health-care reform is on life support because the Senate can’t figure out how to pay for it.” The bottom line here is that this president has already spent trillions of dollars that this country does not have, borrowing most of the money from China and the American people have had enough.
Politicians on both sides of the aisle realize that their campaigns for re-election will shortly be underway and they also realize that the necessary tax increases that ALL Americans will be facing to pay for this disastrous and unnecessary legislation could be their downfall in 2010.
Nobody in congress is willing to put their seat on the line to push legislation that currently has less support now than it did when President Clinton tried to nationalize the healthcare industry.
This bill is starting to see more and more opposition as the American taxpayers begin to realize how much it will cost them to insure the non-taxpayers in the country. Politicians are now seeing the opposition that is growing with the taxpayers and while in the end they may not give a damn about us they do give a damn about holding on to their seats.
In the end their own lust for power may be what finally unravels the healthcare legislation. If that is what it takes to derail this bill than I am perfectly fine with the outcome. Sometimes the end does justify the means.
President Obama’s Latest Approval Rating (06/20/09)
According to the latest Gallup poll President Obama’s approval rating has fallen to 58%. Still high, but well off of his high of 69-70%.
According to the poll his favorablility remains high with Democrats but has fallen to 21% with Republicans. Neither of those two facts are surprising, they are expected. But the president’s problem may be with Independents where his approval has fallen to 53%.
Independent voters are the ones who put Obama in the White House and it has to be concerning to him that his support with that voting block is beginning to falter.
The poll says that the reason for the decline isn’t clear but that the price of healthcare reform and his lack of an assertive stance on the Iran election protests might have something to do with it. That may be true, especially the cost of healthcare but I think it goes beyond that.
I believe that the president is over-reaching and moving too far,too fast. I think that after eight years of hearing Democrats complain about President Bush’s deficit spending only to watch Obama take it to a whole new level has people frustrated.
People are concerned with the money he is borrowing from China to spend and we haven’t even passed the healthcare reform and global warming bills yet. Many people know that these two bills in particular are going to raise taxes and in a recession people are afraid of what this will do to the economy.
Somebody needs to reign this president and his spending in, not only for his own the good, but for the good of the country as well.
Concern over the involvement of ACORN in the upcoming census has led one congresswoman to vow not to complete the census. Representative Michele Bachmann said in an interview that she will fill out the number of people that live in her household and will leave all the other questions blank.
know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that
Knowing ACORN’s history of abuse and fraud she claims that she is afraid that the information provided to the government in the 2010 census will be abused.
They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public,” she said. “This is very concerning
Her concern is well founded. The organization that is notorious for voter fraud and registering voters multiple times, as well as registering Micky Mouse, will be involved in the actual enumeration of the population. Don’t you get the feeling that it won’t be so “actual” once ACORN is involved?
Representative Bachmann is taking a stand against a group that should not be allowed anywhere near something as important as the census and I commend her for it.
For ACORN, being involved in the census is like hitting the lottery. Think about how outrageous it is that an organization facing multiple lawsuits for voter registration fraud will be involved in the process that decides how many representatives each state has in congress. It is insane.
Somebody has to take a stand and let the administration know that allowing ACORN anywhere near this process is totally and utterly unacceptable. I am glad that Representative Bachmann is standing up for us.
Harry Reid is promising that after congress is finished screwing the taxpayers with healthcare reform and global warming legislation that he is going to hit the trifecta of taxpayer funded screw-jobs with amnesty for illegal aliens.
Comprehensive immigration reform is next on the list and it appears Harry Reid does not care about the revolt that came from the American people in 2006 when President Bush, John McCain, and Ted Kennedy tried to ram amnesty for illegal aliens down our throats. It is either that or he just doesn’t give a damn if the American people are opposed to rewarding illegal behavior and granting criminals the right to United States citizenship.

“Bringing the 11 million people out of the shadows” is code for amnesty and while I love the idea of securing the border and punishing employers who hire illegals those two aspects to this legislation will never be enforced as vigorously as they should be. The border will never be secured.
But the one aspect that we can count on being enforced is the amnesty aspect. And this is the aspect that most American do not agree with. The problem is that we never had a choice last November on this issue, both candidates held the same position.
We can only hope that the American people rise up as they did in 2006 and make their voices heard. Our hope on this issue lies in exactly the same place it did in 2006– in the House of Representatives. That is where the only true conservatives remain. But there are less of them now than there were in 2006, we may be in trouble on this issue. If the House of Representatives passes amnesty for illegals the law will be a done deal and the will of the people will be thwarted. We can’t let this happen.
PETA is Angry at President Obama for Killing a Fly
I don’t know if you have heard about this but President Obama killed a fly. Actually I am sure that you heard about it because the news networks deemed the story newsworthy in today’s American Idol, reality television based world. This story is mentioned all across the airwaves while the fact that the president broke the law when he fired Gerald Walpin is not even mentioned. It shows us where the priorities of the news media lie, doesn’t it.
But not everyone was amused at how swift, athletic, quick, and agile the president was in his confirmed kill.
PETA is upset at the president’s overly aggressive and harsh (as in interrogation) technique used to kill a defenseless animal. He didn’t even read the fly his Miranda rights, something that even terrorists are afforded under President Obama’s new policy. And flies are higher up on the food chain than terrorists in my book.
We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals,” PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. “We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals
He went on to say:

This is what it takes to show the world that a mere man, no matter how quick and agile, is not perfect?
PETA has sent the president a humane fly trap so that he can catch the flies and release them outdoors without harming them.
PETA is a joke, they always have been and they always will be. This is nothing but an attempt to draw attention to their cause. The most famous fly killing in United States, and probably world, history provided them with the forum to promote their cause but is just shows us how extreme these people can be.
It will be interesting to watch two factors in the future. 1; will the president actually apologize to PETA for what they consider his thoughtless and unnecessary killing? And 2; the next time we see the president give an interview will he have the humane fly trap in view of the audience as he tries to placate PETA?
How could I resist this story? Sometimes a little levity is needed to take us away for a little while.
I am going to put aside the fact that President Obama fired Gerald Walpin for political reasons in this post. The fact that the firing was politically motivated has been pretty well established but there is another aspect to this story that needs to be discussed and brought to the attention of the American people. President Obama fired Gerald Walpin illegally.
President Obama called Gerald Walpin and gave him one hour to either resign or be fired. This is in direct violation of the law, which requires a thirty day notice in cases involving the firing of inspector generals.
The law in question is the Inspector General Reform Act of 2008 which states that inspector generals do not serve at the president’s leisure (as do the attorney generals that President Bush legally fired), and because of this a 30 day notice is required. The president has obviously broken the law.
But it gets even better, the kicker in this whole fiasco is this little tidbit that as a senator Barack Obama was a co-sponsor of the bill. That’s right Barack Obama co-sponsored the bill to protect inspector generals as a senator. As president he decided that the law he co-sponsored did not apply to him. He can’t claim ignorance on this one, he is responsible for the law that he broke being a law in the first place.
This is an issue that should not go away. Pressure needs to be applied to the president, he needs to testify before congress about the firing. On top of being a political move, it was an illegal move and the president needs to be held accountable.
Today marks the 50th straight day that gas prices have risen, this hasn’t happened in decades. Not even with the “oilmen” Bush and Cheney in the White House. The left claimed that President Bush was manipulating oil prices for a profit, there were calls for windfall profit investigations.
Since President Obama was elected the price of a barrel of oil has doubled. The day before the election gas was $1.45 at the station that I go to. It is now over $2.70, almost doubling. And I thought that the “oilman” was no longer in the White House. Maybe President Obama has stocks in the oil companies. If Bush was manipulating the oil prices for gains perhaps Obama is doing the same now.
Where is the outcry at this unprecedented rise in gas prices? Where is the left now that one of their own is in the White House as gas prices continue to rise? Where is the outcry? Where is the call for windfall profits hearings? Why is it not being reported the way it was when President Bush was in the White House?
Seriously though, I do not believe that the president is manipulating the oil prices now, and I did not believe that President Bush was manipulating the prices while he was in office, I am just trying to show the double standard that is at work here. All I ask for is equal coverage on this issue and that would be the irrational coverage and political posturing that we faced during the Bush administration. The lack of “outrage” by the left and the media on this issue show us what their angle really was during the Bush administration.
One of the concerns that I have about the president’s healthcare reform bill was that instead of finding way to cut costs the bill would grow larger in an effort to buy the votes which are presently lacking.
The first estimates that we heard once congress decided to let us know how much this disaster was going to cost us was $1 trillion. That now looks like a bargain, the bill is now being estimated by members on the senate to cost taxpayers $1.6 trillion dollars.
Who knows how high the final bill will rise, but the president claims that he lies awake at night thinking about the budget deficit, I can attest that he is not alone. The problem is that it is President Obama who is creating these record deficits. One has to wonder if he is lying awake because of the deficits or because he fears voter repercussions in 2010 because of his unsustainable spending. Either way, this bill’s cost is going to continue to grow the longer that it is debated.
It is time to cut off debate and send this bill away forever, we simply can not afford it.
Gerald Walpin, the inspector general that President Obama fired last week is now going on the offensive and is firing back at the president. He is basically calling the president a liar.
When the president fired Gerald Walpin, contrary to the law he failed to give specific reasons for the firing. After being pressured the president finally said that he fired Walpin because he was old and senile. Not in those exact words but by claiming that Waspin was “disoriented” and “confused” there is no other conclusion to reach other than the fact that President Obama feels (at least publicly) that Waspin is too old to serve the public.
Needless to say Gerald Walpin has taken these accusations personally and has called the president’s assertion that he is no longer fit to serve as “insufficient,” “baseless” and “absolutely wild.”
Waspin went on to say the president’s claim is a total lie. He even went on to say that he would never say that Obama wasn’t fit to serve as president because he claimed the he had visited 56 states. A statement to me that made the president sound “disoriented” and “confused” yet the American people thought that he was sound enough to serve as president.
The truth is that President Obama fired Waspin because he caught one of the president’s friends misspending federal money. Rather than standing up against fraud he decided that he must fire the person who discovered the fraud. The president has sided with his corrupt friend over the man who unearthed the fraud. And this is change?
President Obama is now lying about the former inspector general, smearing a man whose only crime was exposing one of the president’s friends as a corrupt criminal. The president not only owes this man an apology, he owes him his job and his reputation back. Gerald Walpin has done nothing other than to serve his country and expose government corruption in an attempt to save taxpayers from government abuse and for that he has been labeled as a confused old man. This is an injustice.
President Obama has abused his power in this instance to serve a personal vendetta and to top it off he is lying about his reasons for the firing, I find it appalling.
