If we take the president at his word, and it is getting harder and harder to do so every day, and his stimulus package actually creates the 2 million jobs that he claims it will a fairly large percentage of those jobs will go to illegal aliens.
That is the claim being made in this article. As many as 300,000, or 15%, of the projected jobs that will be created will go to people who do not belong here.
Studies by two conservative think tanks estimate immigrants in the United States illegally could take 300,000 construction jobs, or 15% of the 2 million jobs that new taxpayer-financed projects are predicted to create.
Employers, thanks to the senate, will not have to verify the status of immigrants who apply for these jobs. The original bill passed by the house would have required employers to verify the citizenship of potential employees but this was stripped out in the senate compromise bill that the president signed.
The unemployment rate is rising every day, there are millions of Americans who are unemployed and the number continues to grow, the least that the president could have done with this bill is to make sure that the jobs that are created under this bill at go to unemployed AMERICANS, but he is too concerned with how he appears to the illegals who are now going to take jobs that Americans should be getting.
The hits just keep on coming with this bill, don’t they? Just when you think that this bill can’t get worse, it does.
But Jorge-Mario Cabrera, of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles claims that this is nothing but fear-mongering:
Those are fear tactics. … ‘The immigrants are here to take your job,’ ” Cabrera said. “I think that we really should be focusing on economic progress for all”
So let me see if I have this straight. The idea that employers don’t have to verify the immigration status of the people who apply for the jobs created under the stimulus package, and that because of this statistics show that 15% of the people who gain employment under the stimulus package are probably going to be here illegally, we are just fear-mongering. Illegal immigrants are going to take 15% of the jobs that should go to Americans but they aren’t here to take our jobs?
Jorge-Mario Cabrera thinks that instead of fear-mongering we should be focusing on “economic progress for all,” I feel that we should be focusing on progress for all…..AMERICANS.
Pig Shit Study Gives New Meaning to the Term Pork
As I have written about before the $410 billion omnibus spending bill contains over eight hundred earmarks. They range from funding la Raza to mosquito research to “mormon” crickets in Utah. (For a list of some of the more outrageous earmarks check out this article.)
As despicable as I find the nearly $1 million that is headed to la Raza I wanted to focus on another earmark that is in this bill. I think it sums up the bill quite nicely.
There is nearly $2 million designated for “swine odor and manure management.”
Two million dollars to manage the smell of pigs, and I assume the removal of pig shit. Just for the record this pork belongs to Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa. This is where our tax dollars are going. What are they currently doing with the pig shit and why can’t they continue to do what they are doing with it? Why do they need this money? Can’t they use it for fertilizer? (The pig shit not the money, but really does it matter which?)
This is the type of spending that just makes a person shake his head in amusement. It is of no use to even get angry at this type of waste. You just have to laugh when you see this to keep from crying at the thought of how these people are spending our money.
And I thought that during the campaign then candidate Obama said this about Sarah Palin “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.” You sure as hell can buy quite a bit of lipstick with $2 million.
This particular earmark in this bill is symbolic of what is wrong with Washington, the bill is full of shit, literally. And the man who claimed that he would veto any bill with any pork is going to break his promise and sign this bill, one could probably also apply that last sentence to the man who will sign this bill.
Is it any wonder why Governor Patrick’s approval rating has fallen 40 points since January? He can’t control, or doesn’t want to control, his legislature.
After he proposed an astounding 19 cent gas tax increase, that is 19 cents all at once, not phased in over a course of time, the legislature in that state, not to be outdone, is now proposing an even higher gas tax increase: 25 cents.
In hard economic times there is nothing quite like making it harder for your constituents to go to work is there? If this passes it will bring the total gas tax paid in Massachusetts to 47.5 cents a gallon. By far the highest in the nation.
Where is the call for investigations into windfall profits? This is obscene, if this were the oil companies there would be political hell to pay, but it isn’t, it is government and they have the right to make obscene profits dammit!
But what do the people who propose and support this idea care? They make six figure salaries plus bonuses and THEY ARE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR GAS USAGE!
These people are nothing but swine feeding at the taxpayers trough, they should be in jail not in power.

More Stealth Taxes in New Hampshire Liquor Bill
There is a bill that will be debated in the New Hampshire house that if passed will begin the privatization of liquor sales in New Hampshire. For those of you who are not from this area, in New Hampshire you can currently buy beer and wine in any store but all other booze must be purchased in a state liquor store.
I have always found it odd that in the “live free or die” state the state runs the liquor stores. But that will change if this bill ends up becoming law. We will be able to purchase booze in any store that is granted a licence. This is normally the type of legislation that I would support, as a man who wants the government out of my life as much as possible. This would normally be a step in the right direction.
But there a part of this bill that I just can’t support and that part is the stealth taxes that have been slipped into this bill. The bill that is supposed to be modernizing liquor sales also includes the following tax increases:
- 30-cent tobacco tax increase
- $10 increase in motor vehicle registration fees
- a gambling tax
- higher meals tax
- higher license fee for hospital and nursing home beds. It goes to $52 a bed, from the current $2.50 a bed.
Here we have the Democrats in control of New Hampshire sticking it to us once again in the form of new taxes. These taxes are hidden in a bill that is supposed to be about liquor sales.
Our governor, teflon John, is at it again with the tax increases but now his Democrat party is getting sneaky with their tax increases. They are no longer up front about the way they are going to screw us, at least they told us they were going to screw us in the last budget. This year they just slipped us a roofie and are trying to screw us after we fall asleep.
Barack Obama and the Rush Limbaugh Diversion
The little cat-fight between President Obama and Rush Limbaugh and all of the attention that it has been getting on the internet is really starting to bore me to death. It should be a non-issue, but every day I see more and more headlines about it. I have avoided writing about this topic because I don’t find it interesting or relevant but I can’t take it any more so I will write one post and one post only about this topic.
It has even gotten to the point where Democrats are running ads on television connecting Republicans to Rush Limbaugh as if he is something more that a talk show host. It is getting ridiculous. So there must be a reason why they continue to keep this cat-fight alive.
There are far more important and greater issues that should be dealt with other than what a talk show host says, regardless of how high profile that talk show host is. So why keep this issue alive?
My first thought was that the Democrats are going to use this as a means to start justifying the return of the fairness doctrine but that is not it. They already have their contrived reasons for justifying that abridgment of the first amendment.
This is a diversionary tactic, with all of Obama’s economic policies that were designed to help the economy actually hurting the economy the Democrats intend to take the focus off of the economy, and Obama’s other policies. Obama’s policies are all designed to grow the government and dependence on the government and the fewer who are paying attention to his radical leftist policies the better for Obama.
So the left is attacking Rush Limbaugh in an effort to draw attention away from Obama and his policies, and you know what? I don’t blame them, it is a good strategy even if it has nothing to do with fixing any of the country’s problems.
The reason that this strategy is a good one, and may be working, is the part of this story that is troubling to me. We are in a celebrity obsessed society and this is demonstrative of that. Remember how much attention the Rosie/Trump war of words got? What was the point of it and why did so many people care? Because as a whole Americans are obsessed with celebrities.
It is the American Idolization of politics and it is scary. It is one of the biggest reasons that Obama was elected, he was a celebrity. He is the American Idol president. The people who are voting for president care more about what is happening with Brad Pitt and whoever it is that he is dating than they do about actually paying attention to the issues.
When these people see a war of words between Rosie and Trump, or they see Kayne West on television making brilliant political statements (insert sarcasm) they listen to it. When they hear Sean Penn claim that Bill O’Reilly is worse than Osama bin Laden they listen. This is what is interesting to the American Idol voters. And there must be many of them.
So it is only natural that a war of words between the president and the most recognizable name in talk radio would interest them. More so than the president’s policies do.
And now the Democrats have expanded the war of words into television ads and are using what Limbaugh says against Republican politicians. As I said before, I don’t blame them, this is the new politics in the soundbite era.
I think that this whole issue is more of a commentary on where the American voter is than anything that is actually said between the president and a talk show host.
When I first heard that President Obama came out against Eric Holder and his “nation of cowards” comment about race relations in the United States, I decided that I would write a post about how I agreed with the president. After all it is very rare that I agree with him on anything, I think I have done one post agreeing with the president, maybe two. So in the interest of being fair I felt that I should write another post on an issue with which I agreed with the president.
But then I read the actual comment the president made about the “nation of cowards” remark. The president said, “I think it’s fair to say that if I had been advising my attorney general, we would have used different language.” This statement was not rebuking Eric Holder’s comment, all that the president said was that he would have said what Eric Holder said differently.
The president didn’t even say that he didn’t think what Holder said was true, in fact it seems to me that he condoned the sentiment while questioning the delivery. It seems that the president agrees with the comment but would have articulated it differently.
President Obama had a chance to stand behind the American people, the same people that elected him, but instead he decided to punt. President Obama had an opportunity to stand up and proclaim that he is living proof that any America regardless of color, creed, or sex can achieve whatever they set their goals upon, but instead he refused to do so. I find this failure to be as disappointing as his radical left wing policies.
We are beginning to see more and more of the media beginning to question not only whether President Obama’s economic policies are going to help the economy, but also whether his policies are actually what is hurting the economy now.
In this post I stated that I believe once the economic stimulus bill passed Obama took full ownership of the economy. From that point on out whatever happens to the economy is a reaction to Obama’s policies, there can be no more talk of how he inherited the mess. We all know that the economy was in a downturn when he was elected and we all know that he was elected because of the downturn in the economy. He knew what he was getting into, as did the American people who put him in office to save the economy. So if the economy continues to falter after his plans are in place, which it is, he can no longer look backward to the former president when his policies that are designed to help the economy end up hurting it.
And now it seems that more news outlets are starting to hold the same belief of Obama’s culpability in the falling economy from this point on. This is the latest article to question whether President Obama’s policies are causing the economy to continue its downward spiral.

A break from the glowing and flowery articles that one must usually endure about the president from the mainstream media to be sure. The economy has continued to spiral out of control since Obama was inaugurated but the media has previously been reluctant to blame the newly implemented policies of President Obama. That is beginning to change. People are beginning to question whether Obama’s policies are hurting the economy.

Although the administration likes to say it “inherited” the recession and trillion-dollar deficits, the economic wreckage has worsened on Obama’s still-young watch.
Every day, the economy is becoming more and more an Obama economy.
Exactly my point from a post on March 4th that I linked to above. There is only so long Obama can drag out the “it is not my fault” excuse. I think the time has already passed.
But there is more than just the president’s policies that can be blamed for the continuing economic slide. While his policies are the biggest problem there is also the problem with Barack Obama’s mouth, he is spooking the economy every time he opens his mouth. Obama talks, stocks drop.
Obama may have contributed to the national anxiety by first warning of “catastrophe” if his stimulus plan was not passed
There is also apprehension about Obama’s policies on what would normally be considered non-economic policies that have investors worried.
Many health care stocks are down because of fears of new government restrictions and mandates as part a health care overhaul. Private student loan providers were pounded because of the increased government lending role proposed by Obama. Industries that use oil and other carbon-based fuels are being shunned, apparently in part because of Obama’s proposal for fees on greenhouse-gas polluters.
And what should be more troubling to the president is the fact that his own party is beginning to question his policies.
Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, have questioned the wisdom of Obama’s proposal to limit tax deductions for higher-income people on mortgage interest and charitable contributions.
And Obama’s claim about how many jobs his stimulus will create or save is being seen as laughable and questionable by Democrats.
You created a situation where you cannot be wrong,” the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Montana Democrat Max Baucus, told Geithner last week.
“If the economy loses 2 million jobs over the next few years, you can say yes, but it would’ve lost 5.5 million jobs. If we create a million jobs, you can say, well, it would have lost 2.5 million jobs,” Baucus said. “You’ve given yourself complete leverage where you cannot be wrong, because you can take any scenario and make yourself look correct.”
President Obama is and always was a fraud. Now it is so obvious that even the media that has always been in the pack pocket of Democrats, and even Democrats themselves, are beginning to become critical of Obama and his policies.
The question is, if we knew what Obama’s policies were and we knew that his policies would hurt the economy, which we did, then how come the media didn’t question his policies more thoroughly before he was elected while we still had a chance to do something about it? Why did they wait until now to be critical of his policies now that it is too late to do anything about it?
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad to see some in the mainstream media question what the president is doing, I just wish they had looked more closely into who Barack Obama was and what he believed before he was elected. Now it is too late.
This editorial from the New Hampshire Union Leader calls Governor Lynch’s latest budget a “shell game that amounts to inter-generational theft.” Harsh words to be sure but the editorial then goes into just what a shifty man Governor Lynch has become with his budget, from the editorial:
Gov. Lynch claims he cut general fund spending by $40 million. But that’s not exactly true. What he really did was some creative accounting. For example, he “relabeled” the State Liquor Commission budget so that it is no longer called general fund spending. This is not a cut; it is a name change. He is going to increase the agency’s spending from $71 million to $91 million. But with a little creative accounting, a $20 million spending increase instead looks like a $71 million spending decrease.
Gov. Lynch also proposes bonding $83 million in school building aid — money that used to be part of yearly general fund operating costs. The program isn’t going away. The state will still send $83 million to communities for building aid. But with another sweep of Lynch’s magical budget wand — poof — “level funding” an existing program looks like an $83 million spending cut. The reality is that the aid dollars were put on a “credit card” that our grandchildren will end up paying.
Here’s another creative way to make it appear that you’re cutting state spending — announcing a state agency reorganization. However, is there an actual plan to do this? And if so, where is it? And can a plan of this magnitude really be implemented over the next two years? How much could we actually save if there was a plan that could be implemented over the next two years? Who knows? Yet Gov. Lynch’s budget includes a $28 million cut in general fund spending due to reorganization. This is not a way to reduce our obligation going forward and demonstrates a worrisome pattern.
The governor also wants to steal money from a private group and use it to balance the state government. You read that right, he wants to take money from a private group and use it for the state government.
Lynch wants to take money that belongs to the New Hampshire Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association and use it to balance the state budget. Remember, this is not government money and never has been. It is money that was paid by doctors and health care facilities to private insurance companies to help keep their malpractice premiums low, and it also helps retain and attract physicians and nurses. The money belongs to them.
While Governor Lynch is claiming to make budget cuts we can clearly see here that he is using accounting gimmicks to make it appear as though he is cutting spending. He is increasing spending, he still hasn’t learned his lesson. He spent New Hampshire into this budget crisis with his unsupportable budget of two years ago with its 17.5% increase in spending. He was warned that his revenue projections were overinflated and he didn’t care, he spent anyway. These budget gimmicks are beyond deceptive, they are downright dishonest.
Mine, mine, mine, all mine
He is being dishonest with the voters of New Hampshire. He is not cutting the budget, this new budget actually ADDS $1.2 billion in spending over the next two years and amounts to an 11% increase over the last budget. He just doesn’t get it. He can’t help himself, he sees our money and he just has to take it. He thinks that he can spend it better than we can.
Yet his approval ratings remain high, people just don’t seem to be paying attention to what this man is doing to our state. Massachusetts residents are beginning to wake up to the fallacy of their governor, it is about time for New Hampshire residents wake up to the fallacy of ours.
Great News For Massachusetts
Governor Patrick’s latest approval rating was recently released and it appears that he is taking a nose dive with the voters of Massachusetts. 68% of those polled are dissatisfied with the governor, up 21% since January. (Naturally his cronies in the media are claiming that the poll must be flawed.)
It appears as if all of the tax hike talk without cutting many of the 2000 state employees that he added to the payroll, along with his condescension, is finally catching up with him.
You can’t say things like “grown ups understand that you can’t have anything for nothing,” when talking about tax hikes, and you can’t say people who are skeptical of your policies are “just pretending to be smart,” without people looking at you as an arrogant ass. Those two comments have to have has something to do with the quick drop in his poll numbers. People do not like to be talked down to.
This is great news for Massachusetts, the best thing for the state would be for Governor Patrick to be a one term governor and he is being mum on his intentions about running for re-election.
I am only sad that this wave of political backlash has not made it up to New Hampshire yet, we are still following Governor Lynch like lemmings off the cliff into economic disaster and political irrelevance.
The man for whom I voted for in 2008 for governor, and the man who was considering a run for a state senate seat, Joe Kenney, will not be available to run. He has more important business to attend to.Joe Kenney is an Iraq War and Gulf War veteran and is currently a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Reserves. He has been recalled and will be headed to Afghanistan as part of President Obama’s troop surge.
Kenney said his orders will have him in Afghanistan from next week through the end of 2009. He said he will serve at a senior level, overseeing combat operations and interacting with NATO and U.S. State Department staff.
I would like to thank Joe Kenney for his service to the country and to our state and I hope for his safe return.
