Barack Obama Tells Gun-Owners That They can Trust Him
As I have written about before, since Barack Obama became the president-elect gun sales have skyrocketed all across the country. Fearful gun-owners are buying firearms in record numbers because of Barack Obama’s stance on gun ownership.
Today Barack Obama had a few words for gun owners designed to reassure them that there is nothing to worry about.
I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word
If there is truly nothing to fear why does president-elect Obama feel it necessary to say anything at all. Perhaps he is trying to slow the sales of guns so that he will be able to implement his anti-gun stance more easily.
As this article states, it isn’t what Obama has said during his campaign that has gun owners worried. Look at what he said, he hasn’t indicated anything, I find that an interesting choice of words. What does have gun owners worried is what his actual record is on gun control issues.
National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said it’s not Obama’s words — but his legislative track record — that has gun-buyers flocking to the stores.
“Prior to his campaign for president, his record as a state legislator and as a U.S. Senator shows he voted for the most stringent forms of gun control, the most Draconian legislation, gun bans, ammunition bans and even an increase in federal excise taxes up to 500 percent for every gun and firearm sold,” Arulanandam said.
Obama answered “yes” in 1996 to a questionnaire from an Illinois group on whether he supported a handgun ban. But he later said a staffer filled out that answer and he did not support a ban.
Barack Obama’s track record varies quite a bit from his rhetoric. If actions speak louder than words than Obama’s actions are shouting at gun owners. Again I come back to Obama’s use of the word indicated when he speaks about his stance on gun control. He didn’t indicate a strict gun control agenda but as his record shows he has a strict gun control agenda. Just because he didn’t indicate his anti-gun agenda doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an anti-gun agenda.
He then goes on to say that he thinks he can be taken at his word, not that he can be taken at his word. Another interesting choice of words. A slick talking politician like Obama chooses his words wisely and this is no exception. Everything that he says is well thought out in advance. He uses this term to abscond himself from the notion that he will not infringe on the second amendment.
Meanwhile the anti-gun crowd believes that poeple who have bought guns since Obama became the commander-in-chief in waiting are just plain stupid.
We don’t dispute [the gun sales hike] because the numbers from the federal system certainly confirm that there is increased activity out there. We just think it’s a bit stupid,” said Peter Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Campaign against Gun Violence.
And he goes on and shows his ignorance of the second amendment with the following statement:
We don’t think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more.”
The question here isn’t whether or not somebody already has enough guns, the question here is the infringement on the right to own guns. There is no limitation to the number of guns a person can own. It is nobody’s business how many gins I own, how many guns you own, or how many guns any law abiding citizen owns. Who has the right to say that a person already has enough firearms and that they shouldn’t be allowed to buy another firearm? Nobody.
So today Barack Obama found it necessary to try to appease gun owners, and why? Just because a report came out that said gun sales are up? That tells me he fears these statistics that he has heard about. Why else would he care? This is a blatant attempt by Obama to ease the minds of the pro-gun crowd and hopefully curtail what Obama sees as the scourge known as gun sales.
The very fact that Obama found it neccessary to tell me that I can trust him on gun control is the very reason why I don’t.
Worker Forced to Cover-up Illegal Investigation into Joe the Plumber’s Personal Records
I know that in my last post about Joe the Plumber I said that it would be my last post about Joe the plumber but there is new information that I must write about. According to this article there was a cover-up about the illegal spying into Joe the plumber’s personal records.
The state worker who unwittingly ran an improper child-support check on the man known as Joe the Plumber told lawmakers yesterday that a deputy director later “dictated” how she was supposed to cover it up.
Vanessa Niekamp, an administrator for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’ Office of Child Support and a 15-year state employee, said that when Deputy Director Doug Thompson came into her office, “He appeared very upset, his neck was bright red, and he was shaking. He closed my door.”
Thompson told her she must write an e-mail to the agency’s information-security officer, and then “dictated word for word” what she wrote, Niekamp said. He also reminded her that she could be fired at any time, she said.
This story is relevant, no matter what the left believes, because it is an example of what can happen if you oppose Barack Obama. Joe the plumber’s only crime was to ask Barack Obama a question. Because of this crime he was targeted by Obama’s surrogates, his personal life was exposed, he was attacked, and his files were illegally breached. (And the left claims that President Bush is spying on Americans.) Joe the plumber posed a threat to Obama and so there was a smear campaign waged against this ordinary American. That is a true violation of the same variety that the left has accused President Bush.
It was decided that Joe the plumber’s files were illegally accessed and now we have learned that Vanessa Niekamp was forced to cover up this crime. Unfortunately she will take the fall for the fact that one man dared to question Barack Obama.
Obama’s surrogates were willing to sink to this depth in order to get him elected, what depths will they sink to now that he is president?
Barack Obama Promises not to Smoke in the White House
President-elect Barack Obama has promised that he will not smoke in the White House. I know that most of you are thinking to yourselves, “Barack Obama smokes?” The answer is yes he does. This has been a closely guarded secret all thoughout the election.
The president-elect decided to quit smoking when he announced his run for the presidency because of the publicity the politically incorrect habit would bring. He hasn’t quite managed to quit.
Barack Obama has admitted that he still smokes on occasion but that he will not smoke in the White House because it is a non-smoking area. He will honor the White House as a non-smoking area. Why the hell should he?
If Barack Obama chooses to smoke that is his choice. The anti-smoking lobby that has infringed on the personal choice of the people on what and where they can put something in their body has made it so “criminal” to smoke that even the president-elect had to hide his addiction from these anti-smoking Nazis. And the American voters.
We have reached the stage in Nanny State America where the president isn’t even allowed to smoke in his own home. What the hell is wrong with us? The government does not have the right to regulate where and when a person can smoke, but that is what we have let happen gradually over the years. We have slowly but surely been giving up our freedoms under the guise of the government doing what they claim is for our best interest. And now even Barack Obama is falling victim to the politically correct, nanny state politicians who have no right in hell to tell the people where they can and can not smoke.
Barack Obama should give the finger to the anti-smoking Nazis just as he has given the finger to the gun owners, the capitalists, the free speech advocates, the anti-infanticide crowd, the non-socialists, military hawks, the successful, and the rest of the “bitter” Americans. But he won’t. Why?
Because he is weak. If he can’t quit a habit that he so desperately wants to quit than how can he be expected to stand up to the people who want to tell him where and when he can smoke?
I defend Obama choice to smoke where he wants even as I condemn his lack of stones to stand up for the same. He has extolled the virtues of the nanny state and so that is where my paradox lies. It is because of politicians like Obama that Obama can’t smoke in his own home. If he were a man he would step up and say enough is enough. Or he would quit.
Democrat William Jefferson Loses Re-election bid
Louisiana voters finally had the chance to go to the polls on Saturday after some elections were postponed due to Hurricane Gustav and when the results were tallied disgraced congressman William Jefferson was on the outside looking in.
You remember Willaim Jefferson don’t you. He was the congressman who took rescuers away from their duty after Hurricane Katrina and used them to get his bribe money out of his house while people waited to be saved. He saved his money instead of his constituents.
Here is part of what I wrote about almost two years ago about this man’s actions after Hurricane Katrina when it was learned that Democrats were not going to punish him, just in case you haven’t heard the story before:
During the Katrina evacuation this man ordered a boat that was rescuing Katrina victims to bring him to his house. The boat got stuck so they brought in another boat, which also got stuck. They ended up bringing in a helicopter to get him out. He was removing his freezer full of bribe money. He took resources away from people helping the Katrina victims so he could hide his bribe money.
None of that mattered to his voters as he won re-election in 2006, but yesterday the voters finally did the right thing and sent this man packing.
Fergus Cullen to Step Down as NHGOP Chairman
Fergus Cullen, NHGOP chairman will not seek re-election this January. This comes as welcome news to me as I don’t feel that he gave Joe Kenney the support that he deserved in his bid for governor.
Perhaps I should give Fergus Cullen the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he just felt that the gubernatorial race was a loser from the beginning and decided to focus on other races instead. If that was his strategy than he faired better that I give him credit for. Republicans managed to quietly pick up 17 seats in the state house and held onto 10 others that were considered in jeopardy. But I just can’t. I believe it is time for a change at the leadership level.
John H. Sununu appears to be the man who will take over the chairmanship of the New Hampshire Republican party. Here is what John H. Sununu had to say about his bid for state Republican chairman:
“My biggest concern is trying to help rebuild the party in terms of clear definition of issues, recruitment of good candidates and raising sufficient funds to support some solid campaigns,” he said.
He said that with Democrats in the governor’s office for 10 of the past 12 years and now controlling the Legislature, there has been “a tremendous explosion of spending, loss of local control, passing costs to the cities, towns and counties and a failure to live up to New Hampshire’s traditions.”
He said if elected, he will speak out for “Republican traditions of low taxes, local control, community involvement and the rights that individuals have. The Republican Party has to keep the Democrats from destroying the state.”
What the New Hampshire Republican party needs is clear leadership and a strong message. Hopefully John H. Sununu will provide just that.
Now if we can just get his son to run for governor we will be all set.
A Date Which Will Live in Infamy
President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our secretary of state a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.
Yesterday the Japanese government also launched as attack against Malaya.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam.
Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Wake Island.
And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.
Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As commander in chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us. . .
United States and Iraq Agree to a Timetable for Withdrawal
The United Sates and Iraqi governments have reached an agreement to withdraw all combat troops from Iraq by the end of 2011. Our troops have done a remarkable job in Iraq and finally enough progress has been made so that we can begin to bring troops home.
We are able to bring the troops home in victory just as many of us believed we always would. While many of the president’s critics claimed that President Bush didn’t have an exit strategy, he did. It is called victory.
The war is over, we have won. The issue now is security and 2/3 of Iraq has been handed over to Iraqi people. Soon the whole country will be controlled by the Iraqis and when that happens the last of our troops will come home.
President Obama still claims that his timetable, which he pulled out of his ass, is a better plan than the timetable that the United States and Iraq agreed to based on the conditions on the ground. He still is unwilling to admit that America just might win this war.
But some of us always knew that our troops wouldn’t be defeated militarily abroad but possibly politically at home. Our faith in our troops is on the verge of being realized, and now is the time to say thank you to all of those who have served in this mission to make us all safer. While our politicians took their eye off the ball, our troops and their commanders never did.

Feds Propose Taxing Farmers for Cow Farts
This is the direction that the country may be headed in under an Obama presidency that worries me. A federal proposal will soon be debated that would tax farmers for air pollution because of gaseous farm animals. I am not making this up, I couldn’t make something like this up. Please read this paragraph again if you think that you read it wrong.
It would require farms or ranches with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs to pay an annual fee of about $175 for each dairy cow, $87.50 per head of beef cattle and $20 for each hog.
EPA spokesman Nick Butterfield said the fee was proposed for farms with livestock operations that emit more than 100 tons of carbon emissions in a year and fall under federal Clean Air Act provisions.
I understand that this has nothing to do directly with president-elect Obama but this is an indication of the direction that we are headed under the next administration. The president-elect has promised to take a hands on approach to help solve the “global warming crisis” and there will be many more taxes, fees, and fines to come. This is only the beginning. But this isn’t even what I find the most disheartening about this whole proposal.
What bothers me the most is the fact that this whole idea of taxing farmers for cow farts was born from a supreme court decision that the EPA had the right to regulate cow farts because it amounted to air pollution.
the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that greenhouse gases emitted by belching and flatulence amounts to air pollution.
This decision was rendered under the new supreme court that includes President Bush’s two supreme court appointees. What a horrible decision this was. How the hell can the supreme court rule that belching is air pollution? President Bush’s supreme court appointees were what I thought would be the presidents lasting legacy and maybe they will be. But maybe his appointments will be his legacy for the wrong reasons. This truly is a disappointment.
This supreme court ruling has opened the door to let the EPA begin to assert their global warming agenda and with the new president about to be sworn in they will have an all to willing accomplish to further their global warming taxation agenda.
It has only just begun.
Democrats Grow Impatient With Lack Of Action by Obama on the Economy
Democrats like Barney Frank, who is responsible for the economic crisis, are becoming impatient with president-elect Obama because the president-elect hasn’t been more assertive in regards to the economy and the taxpayer fucking known as the bailout.
The man who is responsible for the economic crisis, Barney Frank, had this to say about Obama’s lack of action:
He’s going to have to be more assertive than he’s been
At a time of great crisis with mortgage foreclosures and autos, he says we only have one president at a time,” Frank said. “I’m afraid that overstates the number of presidents we have. He’s got to remedy that situation.”
Here is where I have to defend Obama, this isn’t going to be easy for me but it has to be done. President-elect Obama has stated that he isn’t the president yet so he hasn’t asserted himself into the debate about the economy and the bailout to the extent that Barney Frank and others would like. As can be read in the above quote this has drawn the ire of liberals like Barney Frank.
What the hell does Barney Frank think that Barack Obama can do to remedy that situation? President-elect Obama has no power to do anything other than to perhaps speak with the man who STILL IS THE PRESIDENT. What does he expect out of Obama? Here is what Obama recently said at a press conference:
“I think it’s premature to get into that issue,” Obama said at the conference
He is right, of course it is premature to inject yourself into a debate that the current president is in. Once he takes the oath of office he can make his policies. Until then Barney Frank needs to learn the definition of the word patience.

And then there is Carl Levin:
It would be very helpful if the president-elect would become more involved in resolving the issue over the source of the funds,” he said. “I want him to offer his assistance. He is a person who can really bring people together.”
Democrats are growing impatient with Obama for not wielding powers that he does not yet have. It is time for Democrats to relax, Obama will be the president, I promise. But I hate to inform you, he isn’t yet. He will be soon.
As we head towards the holidays Christmas, the antics of these high profile Democrats remind me of children who just can’t wait for Christmas to arrive so that they can unwrap their shiny new toys. Please be patient Democrats, your new toy is under the tree, he just isn’t ready to be unwrapped yet. It isn’t Christmas yet. Obama is right when he says it isn’t his turn yet.
