New Hampshire Governor John Lynch to Lawmakers “No New Spending”

January 16, 2008

 Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell

storyjohnlynch-2.jpg As can be read here, New Hampshire governor, John Lynch has warned New Hampshire lawmakers not to pass any new spending this year. He claims he will veto any new spending bill because New Hampshire can’t afford it. Let me be the first to say thank you Governor Lynch. Yes, thank you for finally realizing how irresponsible, stupid and short-sided your last budget was. Even if you still won’t say it out loud. You are still saying that you are fiscally responsible even as you are forced to admit that New Hampshire is projected to have a $50 million shortfall.

Governor Lynch raised spending in the state by 17.5% last year alone, now not only is there no more money he can spend this year, he will have to cut almost 6% from the budget. That is still a whopping 11.5% increase. Republican lawmakers tried to warn our liberal tax and spend government that the budget would never be able to be fully funded, but it was met with scepticism. The revenue estimates done by Governor Lynch were inflated and let’s just say, extremely optimistic. Too optimistic.

Here is a statement that was released by Ferus Cullen, chairman of the New Hampshire GOP upon hearing the announcement by John Lynch:

“Last year Gov. Lynch signed a budget that increased spending by 17.5%, while ignoring the warnings of Republican legislators who argued that his revenue estimates were unrealistically optimistic. The appropriate time for the Governor to consider fiscal restraint would have been before he created this impending crisis.”

While the governor claims he will veto any more spending, there is still that donkey( I would say elephant, but they got swept out in the last election) in the room that noone is talking about. EDUCATION FUNDING.Our brilliant governor still has to come up with a measly $400 million for his insane education funding proposal that will drive this state into bankruptcy. And that is where and how his, and the rest of the Blue Hampshire’s Democrats nefarious little plan will finally come to fruition in New Hampshire. That plan is the sales and/or income tax. The sword of Damocles is hanging over our heads and it will fall shortly.

Don’t blame me, I voted for Coburn!

New Hampshire to Recount Democrat Ballots Today

January 16, 2008

Dennis Kucinich has asked New Hampshire for a recount of the primary ballots, he handed over the money to pay for the costs, and today the re-count will begin. I am not sure what he hopes to accomplish, below is his statement:

“Serious and credible reports, allegations, and rumors have surfaced in the past few days,” Kucinich said in a statement on his Web site. “It is imperative that these questions be addressed in the interest of public confidence in the integrity of the election process and the election machinery — not just in New Hampshire, but in every other state that conducts a primary election.”

He believes there were irregularities between ballots counted by hand and ballots counted by machine. Perhaps he is hoping a re-count will give him a total of 3910 votes instead of the 3901 he did get.

If the recount doesn’t provide him with the results he hopes for he can stop the recount and get his money back.

There is always some type of fraud or conspiracy with these people. The American people are too stupid to vote and count votes, according Democrats who, when they lose always claim it wasn’t their fault, the system is corrupt.

Mitt Romney Wins in Michigan, Now the Race is on

January 15, 2008

First, we had Iowa Republicans screw up and vote for a liberal RINO in Mike Huckabee, a man who uses religion as a means to spread a liberal socialist agenda through his great compassion. A terrible decision by the voters of Iowa.

Second, we had my state, New Hampshire, screw up and vote for a liberal, illegal alien amnesty granting, tax raising, GITMO closing, provider of constitutional rights to non American terrorist killing bastards, conservative judge halting, free speech killer, John McCain. The small bright side to the idiocy of New Hampshire’s voters is that this vote slowed down Huckabee’s momentum. If Huckabee somehow won New Hampshire he would have rolled into South Carolina on Saturday as a favorite, and that is beyond astonishing.

So, McCain takes New Hampshire and moves into Michigan where the polls showed him getting a bounce and in a close race with Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney won the non-evangelical conservative Republican vote in Iowa by a margin of three to won. Mitt also won the Republican vote in New Hampshire, but lost the Independent vote. John McCain doesn’t poll well with Republicans, so his base seems to come from Independents. Independents who are by definition not conservative. Mitt Romney proceeds to handle McCain easily in Michigan and is now back in the mix. At least as far as the media is concerned. The media kept portraying Michigan as being a must win for Romney even though he was the Republican delegate leader. They ignored the fact that Romney has been the leading candidate among conservatives.

Thank you Michigan for getting this one right. Michigan conservatives voted for Romney over McCain by double digits, just as trends have indicated they would. This was an important primary because if McCain had pulled this out he would have headed to South Carolina with momentum, and that would have been disastrous. Now we have Fred Thompson making his stand in South Carolina, a state where Huckabee appears to be doing well. Huckabee needs to be stopped now, I think this is Huckabee’s last stand, if he loses South Carolina it will end his campaign. I hope.

I, as a Mitt Romney supporter, hope that this win will give him a bump and help propel him to a victory in South Carolina. From there, it’s on to the white house.

Thompson could very well take South Carolina, Rudy could pull out a victory in Florida, and then it is on to super Tuesday. We have had two caucuses and two primaries. We have had three winners, with Romney being the only candidate to win twice. No candidate seems to be a clear front-runner.

 The race is on.

George Soros Funded the Fraudulent Iraq War Study

January 14, 2008

Remember that Iraq war study that was released that claimed 650,000 Iraqis have been killed during the war? This is the same report that far left wing bloggers still site as fact even though it was nothing but anti-American propaganda. It turns out that George Soros was a major funder of that fraudulent report. Of course, this little fact was kept quiet because it would have immediately rendered this report useless, people would have know it was nothing but bullshit.

“The authors should have disclosed the [Soros] donation and for many people that would have been a disqualifying factor in terms of publishing the research,” said Michael Spagat, economics professor at Royal Holloway, University of London.

“In retrospect, it was probably unwise to have taken money that could have looked like it would result in a political slant.

It could look like political slant? George Soros, the man who has said he would gladly throw away his billions if it guaranteed president Bush’s impeachment would never try to fudge the numbers, would he?

In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003,Soros said that removing President George W. Bush from office was the “central focus of my life” and “a matter of life and death.” He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat President Bush, “if someone guaranteed it”

And now we learn he was behind this report that was nothing but a bullshit attempt at bringing down a president.

Dan Rather, move over, there is a new sheriff in town.

Hillary Clinton Supporters Sue the Nevada Caucas

January 13, 2008

obama02071.jpg The Nevada Culinary Union has endorsed Barack Obama. That would seem to be nothing out of the ordinary, a union endorsing a Democrat. There is only one problem, the Democrat they endorsed was not Mrs. Clinton. Now the Nevada’s teacher’s union and some of Hillary’s supporters are suing to make it harder for the culinary union members to vote.

“This could shut down those precincts in the casinos and keep culinary members from voting,” said Jon Ralston, a political pundit with The Las Vegas Sun, who broke the story on his blog. Mr. Ralston said it is unclear whether there are ties between the lawsuit and the Clinton campaign but, he predicted, “Even if they’re Hillary supporters, the campaign’s going to say they had nothing to do with it.It is unclear when the court will hear the matter.

hillarybj.jpgSo much for free and open elections, huh? Nothing is an accident with regards to the Clinton’s. There is no way this group decided on their own to sue without getting the approval of the Clinton’s. And even if they did, it just shows us the insecurity of the Clinton supporters.

In a time when Bush bashers are telling us that he has trampled the constitution, pissed on our freedoms, and turned the United States into a dictatorship (just read the far left blogs if you think I am overstating this), we see this example of the left trying to oppress a number of voters who may not be voting for the candidate they want to win, I ask you, which party has the real potential for implementing a dictatorship?

Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Charged with Making Racially Insensitive Comments

January 13, 2008

 Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell

hillary-clinton-yell.jpg Hillary Clinton, her husband, and her campaign are coming under fire for recent remarks that have been made. They are being called racially insensitive remarks and offensive. Bill Clinton called Barack Obama’s surge a “fairy tale” speaking about Obama’s rise out of nowhere. Hillary recognized the accomplishments of LBJ for passing civil rights legislation. These remarks were interpreted as racist. As much as I would like to use this post to bash a racist Hillary Clinton, (and I am enjoying the fact that this is happening to her), that is not what I am going to do, I am going to go in a different direction.

I have been of the belief that during a general election that had either Clinton or Obama as the Democrat nominee that the race or gender card would be played. If Obama lost to the Republican, it would be racist American Republican’s fault. If Clinton lost to the Republican, it would be sexist Republican’s fault. We would hear stories about how America just isn’t ready, we are still so very, very far behind all the other countries. But I have been curious if the race or gender card would be played during the Democrat primary season. I was curious if the people who actually had to decide between a black man or a woman would have their feet held to the fire, and now I know.

First I heard stories about how racist New Hampshire didn’t vote for a black man. That pissed me off. I didn’t vote for him because of his policies, not his race, just as I would never, ever vote for Hillary because of her policies. That does not make me a racist or a sexist.

Now Democrat voters, you know, the ones who don’t care about color, race, or sexual preference unlike evil Republicans, have to chose between a woman and a black man and I want them held to the same standards as Republicans.

obama02071.jpgDo I think that any of these remarks made by the Clinton’s were intended as racist? No, but here is the problem. Democrats have been telling poor black people for so long that the system is unfair, and that evil, white Republican America is going to fuck them over every chance they get that they now don’t trust any white person. Including Bill (the first black president), and Hillary. Now the game the Democrats have been playing comes home to roost when you have an extremely viable, popular black man running for president. Any attack against him or his record will be seen as racist, while the same attack ad against a white Democrat opponenet will just be seen as politics as usual.

Democrats look at a person and immediately put them into a category- black, Hispanic, Asian, or many other hyphenated American names. Instead of just being American, we are all hyphenated-Americans. They are the ones who have divided America into different racial groups, all in the attempt to pander to them in the name of winning votes. They have made minority groups so sensitive that they see many comments that were not made with racial overtones as racist. Democrats have hurt race relations.

Whether or not the Obama camp thinks the attacks are racist is besides the point. Perhaps the Obama camp will use this as an example of how white America is trying to hold Obama down, even if it’s a Democrat who is holding him down. Or perhaps the mindset that the Democrats have set in stone in the black voter’s minds about white America is going to be the downfall of one of their own.

Democrat candidates should be able to attack Obama, or Clinton on positions they don’t agree with without being called racist or sexist. Democrat voters should be able to go into the booth and vote for the candidate whose positions are most like their own, regardless of color or gender.

Republican voters vote on the issues first and foremost, (except for Iowa), and that is what Democrat voters should also be allowed to do. But someone in Obama’s camp has decided to play the race card and turn this election into race versus gender when it should be about the issues. Once again the Democrats are dividing people, this time on their own side, instead of bringing them together, as they have promised to do if elected president. How are we supposed to trust them to bring Republicans and Democrats together if they are pushing themselves apart?

Happy Birthday Wake Up America!

January 12, 2008

23326344.jpg Today Wake Up America turns one year old. Some would maybe call this Wake Up America’s one year anniversary, but I think of it as more of a birthday. I feel as though I was birthed into blogging as a newborn without any clue as to the world I was entering, rather than meeting the blogworld in a mutual way, and marrying it. Does that make any sense?

I sat down at the computer last January 12th and created a blog, three actually, on three different platforms. I posted the same content on all of them but I figured I wouldn’t reach too many people so I would use the three blogs to reach more. Eventually I dropped the other two to concentrate on this one as this site started to gather comments to my posts.

I started doing this on a whim after a couple days of thought. I heard a caller to Glenn Beck ask what she could do to get the word out about the threats we face from islamo-fascism and he said to her “just tell everyone you can, don’t be afraid of what people say to you”. I thought that while that may be a good start it wouldn’t go far. The blog idea hit me and off I went. I was nervous because I am not a writer, I hadn’t written anything since high school more than twenty years ago. I am still self conscious about writing, I know my limitations. I read the writings on other blogs and am jealous, but it is what it is.

I had no idea what I was doing, hell, I never even heard of blogging until Dan Rather was disgraced by the bloggers. My first post was a simple introduction and it was a couple of days before I even bothered to update it. As I said, the main goal I had was trying to make people aware of the real threat from Muslim extremists because people have forgotten 9/11, that idea quickly morphed into just trying to fight liberal madness, and this blog became a conservative political/news oriented blog.

I remember the first time I went over double digits in hits for one day (11), I was thrilled and surprised that many people found me. Then a couple of people responded to my posts, this was the first time I realized that I could click on their names and visit their blogs. I know how stupid that sounds now, but hey, I was totally new. I didn’t even have a blogroll until I visited one of these other blogs, when I saw they had blogrolled me I started my blogroll. I had no idea that the blogroll could be used as a type of social network, as a way to get your voice out there.

I have made many friends since I started this, and I cherish them. I am not going to name them here, but you all know who you are. And for that alone I am grateful. Sometimes when my wife and I are watching the news we feel like we are the only ones who share our views, but I have found through this that we are not alone.

As the months wore on Wake Up America has gathered steam and I have more visitors than I had ever thought possible. I am not saying that I have a huge following, I don’t, but I am very pleased with the progress this blog has made. I am thankful for the people that visit here everyday or whenever they can, I am thankful for those that just pop in once in a while, and I am thankful for those that come here once and never come back. Just knowing people are reading is gratifying.

Here are some of the things that have happened to me since I started blogging:

I wrote a post about New Hampshire that I called “New Hampshire Voters, Stop Whining about Civil Unions, You Voted for Them”, on a whim I sent a copy of it to the New Hampshire Union Leader. You can imagine my surprise when they contacted me and decided to publish it! A man who has a talk show in the lakes region then wrote an article in the Weirs Times in which he commented on my article. He invited me to go on his radio show and talk about the current state of New Hampshire. My wife told me that if I truly believed in what I was doing I should go on, I should take action. I decided not to go on, I was too nervous. It’s too easy to sit behind the computer and type my feelings, but not so easy to go on radio and express them. This decision still bothers me.

Shortly after that, I received an invitation to go on an internet radio talk show. With my wife’s words still in my head, and also still lingering regret about passing up the last opportunity, I accepted. I appeared on Political Vindication radio, and I had a blast. I don’t know how I did, but I enjoyed it. If it wasn’t for my wife’s words, I’m not sure I would have done it.

While posting a comment on Pro Patria, I was contacted by Chad and invited to join the Grizzly Groundswell, which I accepted. The Grizzly Groundswell is a blog that features, or will soon feature at least one blogger from every state, blogging on national or local issues, trying to spread the conservative message. I am happy to represent New Hampshire.

I then joined the Political Grind network, where I re-post some of my articles to try to reach an even larger audience.

I was recently contacted about covering the New Hampshire primary for another blog, the Veracifier, and I wrote a piece before the primary, and after the primary results were in later that night. That was an interesting experience, trying to gather information as it was coming in and putting it all together for an article.

All in all it’s been a pretty exciting year in blogging to me. I have come to appreciate all the hours others must put in to their blogging, I know how much time I spend doing it, but I feel it has been worth it.

2008 should prove to be a busy and exciting year in blogging, as we face what I feel could be the most important election in a long time. I look forward to attacking it head-on.

Sorry about the long, self-indulgent post. But hey, it’s my birthday!

California Wants to Control Residential Thermostats by Remote Control

January 12, 2008

Every time I start to feel as though New Hampshire is getting out of control, every time I feel independent minded New Hampshirites have lost their way, I just look at California, and then I don’t feel so bad.

This International Herald Tribune article writes that if state regulators have their way, they will be able to control the temperature in private citizen’s home by remote control. the new regulations would go into effect for new homes, but how long would it be before they were required in all homes? The article goes on to say that the regulators can change the thermostat in your house to their recommended temperature and you would be able to over-ride it. However, the government would then be able to over-ride your temperature again and lock it in if they wanted to.

“You realize there are times – very rarely, once every few years – when you would be subject to a rotating outage and everything would crash including your computer and traffic lights, and you don’t want to do that,” said Arthur Rosenfeld, a member of the energy commission.

Reducing individual customers’ electrical use – if necessary, involuntarily – could avoid that, Rosenfeld said. “If you can control rotating outages by letting everyone in the state share the pain,” he said, “there’s a lot less pain to go around

Look at the buzz words in that last paragraph- involuntary, and- share the pain. This is “the common good”attitude of socialism at it’s best, but involuntary control is communism at it’s worst. This isn’t the first act by California to regulate behaviors in the home and private businesses, as can be read here, and here , and it won’t be the last if Californians don’t wake up.

A technician for AC service in San Antonio put it best:

“This is an outrage,” said in an e-mail message to Rosenfeld. “They need to build new facilities to handle the growth in that state, not become Big Brother to the citizens of California.”

That would be the proper way to go about insuring that there were no more shortages, however the environmentalist, global warming alarmists will not want anything to do with that idea. Besides how will the government of California gain more control of your life if there were more power plants? They want to MAKE you live your life the way they think you should, building more plants would just encourage what they believe is your bad behavior. They will FORCE you to change your habits. What’s next? Remote control water flow, enforced by a visit from the government plumber… Oh, and by the way, don’t think for a minute that the government won’t use the global warming hoax as a reason to not build more plants. Global warming is a convenient tool for use when the government wants more control over your everyday life.

I find it hypocritical that when it comes to what two adults do in their own bedroom, it is between the two people, but when it comes to everything else in your house its- WATCH OUT, WE ARE COMING.

When Did the Liberal Agenda Become Non-Liberal?

January 11, 2008

Cross posted on Political Grind

hm26tree-hugging-hippies-posters.jpg The idea for this post came to me the other day as I was driving out to the work-site. I was driving with a coworker so this was a rare time when I was listening to music on the radio. When I drive alone I listen to talk radio and a little sports radio, but when other people are in the car I go with music. It’s much easier that way, most people in manufacturing do not share my political views, and I’d rather not get in an argument with people I have to work with on a daily basis.  Anyway, as we were driving, that old song came on the radio by the Five Man Electrical Band, “Signs”. First, I have to confess I never knew who did this song, I googled it. But that’s neither here nor there. This song, like most from the era is a typical liberal song. The verse that always gets me is this one:

And the sign said “anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight”
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, “hey what gives you the right?”
To put up a fence to keep me out, or to keep mother nature in
If God was here he’d tell you to your face: “man you’re some kind of sinner!”

As if man isn’t supposed to own property. What gives you the right, is what the singer asks. He equates a person even owning property as being a sinner because of it.

The job I was working on was about an hour drive from my shop, so I had allot of time to ponder this song, and others like it. While doing this I thought of an interesting little point that I thought I would write about.

I believe that the liberal movement as we know it began with the hippies in the sixties. In my opinion they were the first liberal movement to really gain any momentum. The whole concept of free love, free drugs, free whatever made you feel good started here. This is where the mentality of “there are no consequences for your actions” originated. Who can tell someone what is right and what is wrong? If it feels good, it is right. If something feels good to a specific person, it is right for that person. If something feels bad to that person, it is bad for that person. Nobody, in a liberal’s mind, can tell another person what they should or shouldn’t do. Many, many songs from this era are about this same idea. This Liberal ideology.

But something happened along the way. The rules of liberalism have seemingly changed. The hippies eventually grew up and became mothers and fathers, workers and businessmen. Some of them even became politicians eager to spread their liberal ideology to the mainstream. As I said, something changed in them.

Hippies always believed that they were correct for their no limits mindset. If you thought that people should have boundaries then you were wrong in their eyes. You were out to suppress, repress, control, and manipulate those that disagreed with you. They began to realize that if they got into a position of power they could then manipulate public opinion towards their beliefs.

However once they began to accumulate power, they decided that they should the begin asserting their beliefs on others. In effect they began to do others what they so despised, telling other people what is good and bad. They just looked at it from the opposite angle. Because they believed that they were always correct, it was their duty to enlighten the rest of us.

Along the way thought the liberal agenda has actually started to infringe upon the rights that the American people have. The liberals have actually become non-liberals on many issues. I find it ironic that the no consequences crowd who believe in anything goes is the same crowd that is in the process of banning smoking all over the country in public places. They are telling private businesses that they can’t allow smoking, this is in direct conflict to their original premise. They are telling restaurants how they can cook their food (trans fats), they tell the people they must buckle up. Liberals are banning free speech through political correctness, you are not allowed to say anything that might offend anyone at anytime. They are telling people that they need to drive less to save the planet. This is opposite ideology to what the liberals supposedly believed in.

The liberal movement has somehow morphed from anything goes, to anything we say goes goes. They went from being against anyone telling them how they should live their lives, to telling everyone how they should live their lives.

In essence they have gone from fighting the man to being the man. Funny what power will do to you, huh?

All this from listening to a song on the way to work.
