Gunrunner: ATF shared information about Gunrunner with the White House
The Gunrunner investigation is slowly creeping towards Barack Obama with the news today that a manager in the ATF shared information with Barack Obama’s White House National Security Director for North America–Kevin O’Reilly–in 2010. The ATF agent in question here is Bill Newell and he is friends with Kevin O’Reilly, so when O’Reilly asked him about gunrunner he complied. He also told Kevin O’Reilly not to tell anyone where he got the Gunrunner information from.
This could be nothing more than a person who had a secret that he simply couldn’t keep and decided he could tell his friend about it; it is possible that Kevin O’Reilly was curious about what his friend was up to and when he asked he was told about Gunrunner, and it is possible that all of this happened with Barack Obama’s knowledge. But…..
” Why do you think he asked for that information,” Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) asked Newell.
“He was asking about the impact of Project Gunrunner to brief people in preparation for a trip to Mexico… what we were doing to combat firearms trafficking and other issues”
Bill Newell testified that he gave Kevin O’Reilly the information after he was asked for it, and he stated that O’Reilly asked about Operation Gunrunner specifically. This naturally means that at least one person in the White House staff knew about Gunrunner as early as 2010.
Kevin O’Reilly wanted information on this deadly operation because he was preparing to head on a trip to Mexico, at the request of the president we can safely assume, to discuss steps the United States was taking in the prevention firearms trafficking. He was headed on official business, he represents the United States, he works in the White House, and he was looking for information about a top secret program that nobody supposedly knew about? Where did he find out about Gunrunner?
There is a chance that Barack Obama didn’t know about the operation and Kevin O’Reilly found out about it somewhere else, but even if we give Barack Obama the benefit of the doubt and credit him with ignorance at this point, I find it totally unbelievable that the director of a national security White House agency could possibly find out information on a top secret project and share that information with the president of Mexico in a public speech without first mentioning if to Barack Obama.
If Barack Obama didn’t know about Gunrunner before this, he had to have known about it after this and before the speech in Mexico. This is an angle that Darrell Issa needs to probe more closely because the White House is already trying to “clarify” Bill Newell’s testimony. A White House spokesman–not under oath–is stating that Bill Newell gave Kevin O’Reilly information on some other gunrunning project and the White House has no idea what specific operation Bill Newell was talking about. This is in direct contrast to the testimony which Bill Newell–who was under oath–provided when he specifically said Kevin O’Reilly asked him about Gunrunner.

I wish they could put the debt ceiling debate to rest for the remainder of Obama’s term so they could focus more on Issa’s investigations. I’m guessing that the only reason Obama hasn’t already fired Holder is that he doesn’t trust Holder to take the fall alone.

I am sure the media will come up with some other cover once the debt ceiling debate is over so they can ignore this story. An interesting point about Obama and Holder, maybe Obama is afraid that Holder will take him down with him.

obama signed an executive oder on the 25th, some rumblings are that it is tied to the gunnruner or the arms to zetas story some how, difficult read….check it out maybe you could translate it

This is definitely related to Gunrunner; if you check out the link in my post from yesterday called “Barack Obama promises to crack down on illegal gun trafficking to Mexico” it mentions this EO. This was all part of the plan from the beginning and Obama is citing the violence at the border for the reason for this EO while ignoring the fact that his regime contributed to this violence.

Eric Holder shouldn’t be the only one shaking in his boots right now, in another week or so I expect this investigation to lead to serious questions about Barack Obama’s involvement in this scandal.

The only thing this administration is combating are my 2nd amendment rights. Until this debt ceiling goes away Obama has cover. But I think BHO’s time is running out. He may need to create another diversion soon.

The media is always going to provide Obama with cover, once the debt ceiling debate is over there will be something else. We won’t win the publicity war, but it won’t matter if Issa can take this all the way to the top.
