Donald Trump lies about Ted Cruz’s support for John Roberts again!

February 14, 2016

Back a couple of weeks ago Donald Trump made the absurd claim that Ted Cruz was responsible for giving the American people Obamacare because of his full-throated support for John Roberts when George Bush nominated him as Chief Justice to the Supreme Court. This was either a blatant lie on the part of Donald Trump or it highlighted his ignorance both on the issue of Obamacare and the nomination of John Roberts because as we all know John Roberts was confirmed to the Supreme Court in 2005 while Ted Cruz did not win his election to the Senate until 2012 and was not sworn in until 2013.

Now with the sudden death of Antonin Scalia this has become a hot topic issue during the election season and Donald Trump has doubled-down on this claim. Here is more:

“Let me tell you about appointees: Justice John Roberts gave us Obamacare twice. He could have foiled it twice. He had two votes, went up shockingly, voted in favor of Obamacare. He got there because Ted Cruz pushed him like wild. And by the way, Jeb Bush pushed him through the brother,” Trump said on “This Week.”

”So Cruz shouldn’t be talking. Because that was among the worst appointments I have ever seen. We have Obamacare because of Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, George Bush.”

After having made this false claim once one has to believe that somebody in the Trump campaign must have spoken to him about the history of this issue so one can only come to the conclusion that Donald Trump is purposely lying about this. At this point in time nobody of note has questioned him on this and most likely he knows that nobody will which is why he feels comfortable lying about it.

Your blind support if Cruz is getting old. Trump was ABSOLUTELY telling the truth.
Here’s the punch line from Cruz’s OpEd in the Nation Review:

    “I’ll just quote the punchline:

But, as a jurist, Judge Roberts’s approach will be that of his entire career: carefully, faithfully applying the Constitution and legal precedent.

He is a mainstream judge, respected across the ideological spectrum. Thus, he’s earned praise from liberal icons such as Harvard Law Professor Larry Tribe, and Chicago Law Professor Cass Sunstein, as well as from Clinton Solicitors General Walter Dellinger and Seth Waxman, and Carter and Clinton Counsel Lloyd Cutler, the latter two of whom both described Roberts as a man of “unquestioned integrity and fair-mindedness.”

As Professor Tribe observed Tuesday night, “It is clear that in the absence of some serious objection that is not now visible . . . he is very likely to be confirmed.”

The Senate should confirm him swiftly.

–Ted Cruz is the solicitor general of Texas.”

Actually I do not support Cruz but rather oppose Trump. I voted for Rand Paul in the New Hampshire primary over Ted Cruz even though he dropped out of the race after Iowa. I stood on principle and I wish that those who support Trump would look at where he stood on all the issues before he decided to run for President.
