The FEC accuses Bernie Sanders of thousands of illegal campaign donations

  According to this story the Federal Election Commission has sent Bernie Sanders a letter informing him that some of the donations he accepted in January were illegal and unless he refunds the illegal contributions he could face legal action. We are not talking about one or two, or even several, illegal contributions but rather close to 3,500.

Thousands of contributions to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ campaign in January violated federal campaign finance laws, election regulators said on Thursday.

The Federal Election Commission sent a letter to the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign committee on Thursday with a 90-page spreadsheet listing 3,457 “excessive, prohibited, and impermissible contributions.”

The campaign’s January financial disclosure filing listed contributions from foreign nationals and unregistered political committees, the FEC said. Other contributions came from donors who exceeded the $2,700 per-election limit.

“Although the Commission may take further legal action concerning the acceptance of [excessive or prohibited] contributions, your prompt action to refund the prohibited amount will be taken into consideration,” the FEC told the campaign.

  He accepted donations from foreign nationals, I thought only Republicans did that…but that was just for January, and this is not the first time the FEC has caught Bernie Sanders taking illegal campaign contributions:

The FEC sent a letter to the Sanders campaign earlier this month flagging an additional 1,316 “excessive, prohibited, and impermissible contributions” in the fourth quarter of 2015.

  But still that is not all: Bernie Sanders has run afoul of Federal election laws by spending campaign donations without the proper documentation:

The commission also noted disbursements from the campaign that failed to include required documentation.

  Bernie Sanders has been stating for months that the system was rigged but apparently he had no problem with breaking the law to fight it because the end justifies the means…

  I have to wonder if the FEC found this on its own or if it was tipped off by, oh I don’t know, maybe Hillary Clinton. Lest we forget that Bernie Sanders was also reprimanded by the DNC for “inappropriately” accessing Hillary Clinton’s campaign data.

  It appears as if Bernie Sanders has been playing fast and loose with election laws and has been for quite some time: apparently he is not the squeaky clean politician his supporters believe he is. In fact I might say he is just as corrupt as is Hillary Clinton.
