Bill would give Andrew Cuomo power to detain people for suspected COVID-19

January 5, 2021

There is no doubt that Andrew Cuomo is loving his newly found COVID-19 emergency power and the glowing media coverage that comes with it and now the State legislature is set to hand him even more power. According to this story a bill has been introduced in New York which would allow Andrew Cuomo to lock people up if he thinks they pose a COVID-19 threat to the public. Here is more:

A bill introduced by a member of the New York State Assembly would amend the public health law, permitting the governor of the state to order the removal and/or detention of a person deemed to be a “suspected case, contact or carrier of a contagious disease” who would “pose an imminent and significant threat to the public health.” The person in question then would be “detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises designated by the governor.”

A couple of scary things there besides the obvious affront to the Constitution, notice the terms “suspected” and “other appropriate facility?” You do not even have to have a confirmed case of COVID-19, Andrew Cuomo just has to say he thinks you do and he can have you locked up. And what is another “appropriate facility” to lock somebody up in over a medical issue if not a medical facility? Could it be a FEMA camp or something along those lines?

Here is some of the actual text of the bill in question:

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows: Removal and detention of cases, contacts and carriers who are or may be a danger to public health; other orders. The provisions of this section shall be utilized in the event that the governor declares a state of health emergency due to an epidemic of any communicable disease. Upon determining by clear and convincing evidence that the health of others is or may be endangered by a case, contact or carrier, or  suspected case, contact or carrier of a contagious disease that, in the opinion of the governor, after consultation with the commissioner, may pose an imminent and significant threat to the public health resulting in severe morbidity or high mortality, the governor or his or her delegee, including, but not limited to the commissioner or the heads of local health departments, may order the removal and/or detention of such a person or of a group of such persons by issuing a single order, identifying such persons either by name or by a reasonably specific description of the individuals or group being detained.

Such person or group of persons shall be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises designated by the governor or his or her delegee …

Removal and detention, does that sound like America to you? And he will have the power to hold a person up to 60 days without a court order. This is insane and the people of New York had better wake up quickly and realize COVID-19 is turning into Andrew Cuomo’s Reichstag fire, and it will not end in New York if he is allowed to get away with this.

House Democrat ends prayer with ‘amen and a-women’

January 4, 2021

Last week Nancy Pelosi took political correctness to a whole new level when she banned the use of “gendered terms” in the House so when I read this story earlier today I thought it was a joke, a spoof on Nancy Pelosi, but it turns out it is not.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, Democrat, offered the opening House prayer and after a prayer to a “monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths” (as if that were not politically correct enough) he ended his prayer with an “amen and a-woman.”

In a demonstration of political correctness run amok, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) offered the opening prayer of the 117th Congress on Sunday — ending the invocation with “amen and a-woman.”

“We ask [these things] in the name of the monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and a-woman,” Cleaver said to end the prayer.

We do not even need to go into the fact that “amen” has nothing to do with gender, but as long as this is the path America is on I would like to put aside the absurdity of this to ask a serious question. Shouldn’t Emanuel Cleaver be scolded by his fellow Democrats for using heteronormative language and for only including two genders…

Here is Green Day performing “American Idiot” live in 2005:

Don’t wanna be an American idiot
Don’t want a nation under the new media
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind fuck America

Welcome to a new kind of tension
All across the alien nation
Where everything isn’t meant to be okay

Now everybody do the propaganda
And sing along to the age of paranoia

Don’t want to be an American idiot
One nation controlled by the media
Information age of hysteria
It’s going out to idiot America

Nancy Pelosi bans gender terms in the House

January 2, 2021

The first order of business when the House convenes in January will be to adopt the rules under which will will operate and you will be happy to learn that Nancy Pelosi is working tirelessly to write up the rules so there will be no delay when the House convenes. Here is more:

“This package, which will be introduced and voted on once the new Congress convenes, includes sweeping ethics reforms, increases accountability for the American people, and makes this House of Representatives the most inclusive in history,” said the House Committee on Rules in a statement.

How does she intend to make the House the most inclusive in history? By excluding certain terms which are now apparently offensive.

n clause 8(c)(3) of rule XXIII, gendered terms, such as “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, grandson, or granddaughter” will be removed.

In their place, terms such as “parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling, first cousin, sibling’s child, spouse, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling, or grandchild” will be used, instead.

Apparently we can still call her Madam Speaker, she is not leading by example and she really loves that noble sounding title…

I have a feeling I am going to be saying this quite a bit in the years ahead, but it is good to see they have their priorities in order, especially with the people struggling due to the overreaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donald Trump extends ban on H1-B visas

January 1, 2021

While various State Governors were busy shutting down the economy, forcing people into their homes, closing places of worship, banning the freedom to assemble and other Constitutional rights, and shuttering businesses which cost many Americans their livelihoods, means to support their families, their pride, and tested their patience, Donald Trump was working to offset some of the disastrous effects of the shutdowns.

One of the measures the President took was to temporarily ban H1-B visas to prioritize Americans when job openings did occur. That measure was set to expire at the end of 2020 because everybody in their right minds thought the clampdown would be over by this time, but last night Donald Trump extended the order through March.

The order was set to expire at the end of 2020, but Trump intervened to extend the order to continue prioritizing U.S. jobs for unemployed Americans instead of allowing businesses to import foreign visa workers in a struggling labor market.

The extension of the order reads:

The effects of COVID-19 on the United States labor market and on the health of American communities is a matter of ongoing national concern. The current number of new daily cases worldwide reported by the World Health Organization, for example, is higher than the comparable number present during June, and while therapeutics and vaccines are recently available for an increasing number of Americans, their effect on the labor market and community health has not yet been fully realized.

I would be willing to bet that one of the first orders of priority for the incoming President will be to reverse the visa ban. And I would be also willing to bet that, unlike all the successful legal challenges Donald Trump faced on every single order, any legal challenges will be thrown out of the courts because suddenly the President will have the power to reverse the previous President’s Executive Orders again.

FAA to allow small drones to fly over people and to fly at night

December 29, 2020

The FAA is about to finalize its rules allowing small drones to fly over people and to fly at night, here is more:

The FAA said its long-awaited rules for the drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles, will address security concerns by requiring remote identification technology in most cases to enable their identification from the ground.

There are other, more complicated rules that allow for operations at night and over people for larger drones in some cases.

“The new rules make way for the further integration of drones into our airspace by addressing safety and security concerns,” FAA Administrator Steve Dickson said. “They get us closer to the day when we will more routinely see drone operations such as the delivery of packages.”

For at-night operations, the FAA said drones must be equipped with anti-collision lights. The final rules allow operations over moving vehicles in some circumstances.

We are supposed to feel better because we are being told we will be able to identify the drones from the ground but this has nothing to do with allowing Amazon to deliver packages via drone. The ultimate goal is to monitor our every move and that is just the excuse being used by the State to condition people to the idea that there will constantly be drones in the skies above us so that we do not question what is going on over our heads.

MSNBC: If you married in 2020 you are a selfish, reckless, gaudy killer

December 26, 2020

Well, if you had the audacity to fall in love and get married in 2020 MSNBC wants you to know exactly what it thinks of you and of America in general. And in case you were wondering here is a hint, it ain’t flattering. Here is what the hosts had to say while discussing an article that appeared in New York Magazine:

“Historically we do live in a culture that has encouraged people to sort of push the costs of their actions onto other people,” says dumpy bad writer Sarah Jones, who is also no great shakes on TV.

Yeah, and you point out, I’m going to read part of your article, “Call the weddings stupid or selfish if you want, I can’t argue with either characterization. But they aren’t aberrant. There’s nothing more American than a gaudy, expensive party that kills people. The very stories America tells about itself encourages all of us to be selfish, to shift the cost of our actions onto others.” So, I mean, is this in many ways, do you think, Sarah, just sort of a commentary on America in general and not necessarily just this pandemic?

Notice she says this does not just apply to the pandemic but is a commentary of America as a whole? If you thought the rhetoric was going to tone down now that Donald Trump is only days away from being out of office you are sadly mistaken because they are no longer afraid to show us how much disdain they have for this country, no check that, for the people of this country. They can no longer hide their true feelings.

Merry Christmas Everybody

December 25, 2020

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:11-14 KJV)

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, here is “Merry Christmas Everybody” as done by The Cure, God bless you all:

Donald Trump signs order to allow John Durham to share classified information with Grand Jury

December 23, 2020

Earlier this month we learned that back in October William Barr appointed John Durham as special counsel over the Spygate investigation, however it was not reported for nearly two months.

Although this news was kept quiet so as not to give the appearance that the Attorney General was trying to influence the outcome of an election this seems like information the voters should have before heading to the polls. But I digress…

It is being reported this morning that Donald Trump has signed an Executive Order which authorizes John Durham to share classified information with a Grand Jury which is related to the Spygate scandal. Here is more:

“Trump’s order eliminates the ability of the CIA or other intelligence community agencies from exercising a veto over whether documents or info they generated may be presented to a grand jury empaneled by John Durham to investigate the Russia hoax.”

This is all very well and good but I would not expect too much to come from this. With the new administration will come a new Attorney General who will make the decisions on which cases to prosecute and we learned from Eric Holder how that will turn out. To paraphrase James Comey, no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case…
