The Constitution of the United States of America, Article II, Section 2, Paragraph 2:
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur
This sentence is pretty clear; the President has the power to make treaties provided that 2/3 of the Senate gives its consent to the agreement. Barack Obama and John Kerry have concluded a treaty with Iran on nuclear power (weapons) yet before the Senate had a chance to give its consent the President submitted it to the United Nations for approval. This would seem to be a clear violation of the Constitution and needless to say there are many in the Senate who are not happy about it.
I have to admit that I do not know much about Martin O’Malley but I thought compared to his Democratic Presidential opponents he seemed fairly reasonable. However he has now gone full moonbat; during an interview on With All Due Respect he made the claim that global warming was responsible for the rise of ISIS in the Middle East.
Here is part of what he had to say:
“For example, one of the things that preceded the failure of the nation state of Syria and the rise of ISIS, was the effect of climate change and the megadrought that affected that nation, wiped out farmers, drove people to cities, created a humanitarian crisis that created the symptoms — or rather, the conditions — of extreme poverty that has now led to the rise of ISIS and this extreme violence.”
This of course is the politically correct answer because it touches on climate change and poverty while ignoring the true issue when it comes to Islamic terrorism and that is the ideology of the people who are carrying out these attacks and beheadings and the policies of the man in the White House.

Retired General Wesley Clark has an interesting idea when it comes to combating domestic terrorism in the United States and it is an idea which we have not seen in this country since WWII–internment camps. Here is the video:
This idea is bad enough on its face, we cannot be locking people up for their beliefs alone, there has to have been a crime committed, but it is even worse than that. If you listened to Wesley Clark’s whole statement you might have caught it when he said we have to “identify the people who are most likely to be radicalized” and then he describes young people who might feel alienated for various reasons ranging from being unemployed to having girl problems. You know, typical teenager worries…
The question is; who decides who is a radical? Judging by Wesley Clark’s comments, every single teenage boy could be a threat to the national security, and of course we know the Tea Party has already been targeted by the IRS so could it be possible internment camps for those who are not politically correct is something that Wesley Clark could support?

Bernie Sanders has been enjoying quite a bit of success as a Presidential candidate since he made the announcement that he would seek that office in 2016 but there is one issue his opponents feel they can counter him on. See, Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley cannot move to the left of Bernie Sanders on many issues because he is already about as far over there as you can get.
But Bernie Sanders comes from a state where there are virtually no gun laws–there is no permitting required in Vermont…period. And this has to be an issue the liberals are not happy about, especially with the recent gun control push back on.

You may be wondering why the open thread comes on a Saturday this week and that is because, unlike last week when I jumped the gun, tomorrow I am hopping in the company van at 4:00 AM and heading to Virginia for two weeks to work on a project. I will be working long hours so I do not know how much I will be able to post or visit the blog “When I’m Gone” so here is 3 Doors Down once again this week.
Donald Trump and John McCain have been having a little spat as of late but today he crossed the line by mocking the Senator from Arizona for being captured in Vietnam. Here is what he had to say about John McCain’s war record.
“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
He has since tried to walk back this comment by stating that John McCain has not done enough for veterans and he might be right about that, I have not looked into his record on this, but that is clearly not what he was saying when he attacked John McCain’s service to this country.
I do not like John McCain as a Senator and I certainly did not like him as a Presidential candidate but those are separate issues from his military service and Donald Trump went too far in an effort to get more headlines. He confused the Republican base’s opposition to John McCain’s political life with their support of his military record and I think this will come back to haunt him.
But seeing as how Donald Trump brought up John McCain’s military record I thought it would be appropriate to look at his military record and I found out he received several deferments which allowed him to avoid the Vietnam War.

Earlier this week Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez opened fire in two military facilities in Tennessee and the media is still beside itself (probably holding out hope this will also be labeled workplace violence) trying to figure out what could have possibly motivated this attack.
Planned Parenthood apologizes for tone of video in which they admitted to selling aborted baby organs
Earlier this week a video surfaced which showed a Planned Parenthood official callously talking about selling the organs of babies which were aborted to fetal tissue collection organizations for research. In addition to this practice in general, which might be a violation of federal law, what bothered me almost as much was the attitude of the Planned Parenthood official as she discussed selling the organs in such a cold-hearted and casual manner as she ate her salad and drank her wine.
It was almost as if she did not consider the recently deceased babies to have been lives now lost (or more accurately; taken) and of course she probably did not because we have been told over and over again that a fetus is not a person unless the mother decides it is. This raises the still as of yet unanswered question of how can these unborn babies can have organs which are usable to research if they were not human life in the first place. The life itself is not valuable however apparently the organs are…

In the latest Afterburner video by Bill Whittle entitled “Defense Debacle” he explains how there are actually cuts that can be made to the defense budget and he cites a single example of how $1 trillion can be saved by cancelling just one program.

Last week Ted Cruz released his new book, A Time For Truth, and although it sold more copies than 18 out of the 20 books which appeared on The New York Times bestseller list it was not included on the list. The New York Times claimed this was because of “strategic bulk purchases” however Amazon stated there was no proof of this at all.
Both HarperCollins, the book’s publisher, and Amazon, the largest Internet retailer in the country, said last week that they had found “no evidence” that bulk purchases drove the book’s sales numbers. On Friday, Cruz campaign spokesperson Rick Tyler accused the Times of “obvious partisan bias,” and called on the paper to reveal its methodology or else publicly apologize.
Needless to say The New York Times neither explained it methodology nor apologized for the omission, however this week Ted Cruz’s book will debut at number 7 on the list this week.
