White House Press Correspondants’ Association is crafting a list of ‘press freedom demands’ to send to Barack Obama
It appears as if the White House Press Correspondents’ Association is growing so disenchanted with Barack Obama’s lack of transparency that they are crafting a list of “press freedom demands.” Here is more:
The White House Correspondents’ Association, the organization that represents hundreds of reporters who cover the presidency, is crafting an extensive list of press freedom rules that it wants the White House to adhere to — following an incident in which President Obama kept reporters out of a meeting with Mormon leaders.
“The principle of the full [White House press] pool is so important to us that we’re working to address it in a set of written practices we’d like this and future administrations to follow,” Association President Christi Parsons said in a statement to the Washington Examiner media desk. “We’ve been working on that document for almost a year now and will have more to say about it when we release it later this spring.”

According to this story the Department of Homeland Security wants to create a national license plate tracking system and is currently taking bids from companies to do just that. Here is more:
The Department of Homeland Security is seeking bids from companies able to provide law enforcement officials with access to a national license-plate tracking system — a year after canceling a similar solicitation over privacy issues.
The reversal comes after officials said they had determined they could address concerns raised by civil liberties advocates and lawmakers about the prospect of the department’s gaining widespread access, without warrants, to a system that holds billions of records that reveal drivers’ whereabouts.
In a privacy impact assessment issued Thursday, the DHS says that it is not seeking to build a national database or contribute data to an existing system.
Instead, it is seeking bids from companies that already gather the data to say how much they would charge to grant access to law enforcement officers at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a DHS agency. Officials said they also want to impose limits on ICE personnel’s access to and use of the data.
Of course this raises Fourth Amendment concerns:
How about a little good news today? Back in July of last year a United States District Court Judge ruled that Washington D.C.’s ban on concealed carry was unconstitutional and as a result lawmakers wrote concealed carry permitting laws to comply with the ruling.
Naturally the ruling was being appealed but yesterday the Attorney General working on the case announced that Washington D.C. was going to drop the challenge–concealed carry is now officially allowed in Washington D.C.

Last month it was reported that the Department of Injustice was going to file criminal charges against Democratic Senator Bob Menendez and today the agency made it official–charging the New Jersey Senator with 14 charges of corruption.

Federal prosecutors unveiled a 14-count indictment Wednesday of Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), one of his party’s leading voices on foreign affairs, charging him with using his office to benefit an eye doctor in exchange for many gifts over their decades of friendship.
After a more than two-year investigation, Menendez faces charges related to what prosecutors say were improper efforts by Menendez to help Salomon Melgen, a Florida-based doctor who was also a contributor to Menendez’s campaigns and his longtime friend. Menendez intervened on Melgen’s behalf in a dispute with federal regulators over Medicare charges and in a bid by Melgen to secure a port security contract in the Dominican Republic.

The Justice Department will not seek criminal contempt charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner, the central figure in a scandal that erupted over whether the tax agency improperly targeted conservative political groups.
Ronald Machen, the former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, told House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) in a seven-page letter this week that he would not bring a criminal case to a grand jury over Lerner’s refusal to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in March 2014. The House approved a criminal contempt resolution against Lerner in May 2014, and Machen’s office has been reviewing the issue since then.
And why would they, after all, wait for it…there is not even a smidgen of corruption here.
The good news is the FBI is still investigating her and the IRS but I think we all know what that investigation will yield because the end justifies the means…

Martin O’Malley admitted climate change is natural
I admittedly do not know much about Democratic Presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley but from what I have read about him recently there is not much that I agree with him on. I also have to admit that there is one thing I really like about him and that is the fact that he is unafraid to go after the Democratic presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton, even after he faced what could be considered a veiled threat from one of Mrs. Clinton’s advisers.
Martin O’Malley seems to have a little bit of momentum and some seem to think he could be a viable candidate in the event that Hillary Clinton’s email scandal continues to drag her poll numbers down, but during an interview with George Stephanopoulos he might have made an admission which will hinder his prospects with Democratic voters when he seemed to admit that global warming was not a man-made threat but rather a natural one.

Elizabeth Warren says she is not going to run for President in 2016 on The Today Show
Elizabeth Warren and Mitt Romney have one thing in common: despite persistent rumors to the contrary both are denying they have any intention of running for President in 2016. Personally, I believe Mitt Romney is not going to run but despite her claims I feel the door is still open for a possible Presidential run from Elizabeth Warren.
On The Today Show Savannah Guthrie pressed Elizabeth Warren several times on whether or not she was going to run for the Presidency in 2016–in fact, in my opinion, it almost seemed as if she was pleading with her to run–and the Senator from Massachusetts emphatically stated that she has no intention of running in 2016.

Hillary Clinton in 2003: The Bush administration’s lack of transparency ‘raises the suspicion that it has something to hide’
I first saw the following video at Bunkerville so a hat-tip is in order. Back in 2003 Hillary Clinton stated the following:
“In taking their action to evade or avoid providing information, the administration unnecessarily raises the suspicion that it has something to hide, that it might use the claim of national security to hide mistakes that are literally questions of life and death for Americans”

But that was then and this is now. She was disgusted by the actions the Bush regime took to hide information from the public and from the Congress back then but as Secretary of State she took actions which make George Bush look like a rank amateur.
Marco Rubio to announce his Presidential bid on April 13th?
If this story is true we might have our second official Republican candidate for President in a couple of weeks: Marco Rubio is planning an event scheduled for April 13th where he will make a big announcement. Here is more:
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio confirmed Monday that he plans to make a big April 13 announcement — likely his presidential bid and likely at the Freedom Tower, an iconic Miami building known as the Ellis Island of the South.
“We haven’t reserved a specific site yet … I won’t confirm that,” Rubio said on “The Five,” one of Fox News’ most-watched talk shows. “But I will announce on April 13 what I’m going to do next in terms of running for president or the U.S. Senate.”
One of the hosts, Dana Perino, quickly followed up: “So you will announce that you’re running for president?”
“I’ll announce something on April 13th,” Rubio responded. “If people want more detail, they can go on marcorubio.com and then they can gain access to both tickets [to] our events, and I’ll give them more detail about it. But I’m looking forward to it.”
It seems highly unlikely to me that Marco Rubio would build up this type of hype, and promote selling tickets to the event, if he was going to announce anything other than his intention to run for President in 2016. But of course we will have to wait and see.
