New Hampshire Representative Ann Kuster refuses to answer a question on Benghazi at a Town Hall meeting

December 9, 2013

New Hampshire Democrat Representative Ann Kuster held a Town Hall meeting about the Middle East with her constituents and after reading a House resolution on Benghazi she refused to answer the question of whether or not she supports a select committee to investigate the attack which left Chris Stevens, Glenn Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods dead.

Hilarity ensued, here is he answer:

“I don’t have . . . It’s a Senate thing — I don’t think we have anything about that in the House.”

As I wrote in the first paragraph, she had just finished reading the House resolution on Benghazi and yet she stated that there is nothing in the House in regards to Benghazi when asked a follow up question. This should have been an easy question, what an embarrassment! She could not claim to support what her constituents clearly wanted for fear of  going against the Dear Leader, for that is where her true loyalty lies.

Obamacare: Zeke Emanuel admits that if you like your doctor you may have to pay more to keep your doctor

December 8, 2013

Zeke Emanuel, who along with Max Baucus, is credited as being a key architect of Obamacare appeared with Chris Wallace today and he was pressed on Barack Obama’s promise that a person could keep his or her doctor if they wanted to.

Here is how he answered the question when Chris Wallace asked him if that was a misleading statement because many plans in the Obamacare exchanges limit a person’s choice of doctors:

The president never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want to go to

Technically he is right, Barack Obama never said a person would have an unlimited choice of doctors, but that is what he implied. That answer did not satisfy Chris Wallace who continued to press the question: Read more…

Open thread for Sunday, December 8th: Revelations

December 8, 2013

Here is the open thread for Sunday, December 8th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

As usual you can follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the world. You can also subscribe to receive email updates and if you do you will never miss a post again.

In case you have not noticed I have replaced the old Twitter widget with a new, fully interactive Twitter widget. This widget updates my tweets in near real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. Is also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

Please check out what the New Federalist Party has been up to by clicking on the link to the right. On the NFP Facebook page you will find a link to the party platform. Check it out and if you like what you see we are currently looking for donations and delegates to the states for the convention.

I would also like to take a moment to remember Pearl Harbor Day; yesterday was extremely busy and I did not have to time to sit down at the computer and write a post. To those of the greatest generation who died on that day; you are not forgotten and always remembered.

For the musical selection of the say I give you Iron Maiden performing ‘Revelations’ live in 1985.

O God of earth and altar
Bow down and hear our cry
Our earthly rulers falter
Our people drift and die
The walls of gold entomb us
The swords of scorn divide
Take not thy thunder from us
But take away our pride

The Huffington Post admits that people who signed up for Obamacare using the healthcare website still might not have coverage

December 6, 2013

On December 3rd America’s Watchtower reported that 1/3 of all the people who somehow managed to sign up for healthcare coverage using the beleaguered and dysfunctional Federal healthcare website could still face problems even though they think they have successfully completed the process.

In that post I wrote that because of back-end glitches many enrollees will still face problems because the Federal government is not sending the proper information to the insurance companies.

But, if you are to listen to Barack Obama, I am simply a conservative leaning libertarian who is invested in Obamacare failing so my opinion means nothing, so let us take a look at what the left-leaning Hufington Post had to say about this issue two days later:

Newly released emails show the Obama regime mislead the Congress about the readiness of Obamacare’s small business exchange

December 6, 2013

During the long Thanksgiving weekend, when the Obama regime thought (hoped) that nobody was paying attention, it was announced that the president was delaying the small business exchange portion of the healthcare website by one year. As I wrote in this post, this was done in order to make it look as if the healthcare website was functioning better than it was after the relaunch by limiting the number of users on the site.

The Obama regime testified in front of the Congress and promised the regime was on track with all deadlines, but newly released emails show they made a decision back in August to delay the small business exchange portion of the website:

Liberal journalist finally understands Barack Obama uses the media for propaganda, bashes MSNBC

December 5, 2013

Liberal journalist  Jeremy Scahill appeared on a liberal talk show and had this to say about the Obama regime:

“You have, on the one hand, President Obama saying that his administration is going to be the most transparent in history and that they want to be friends with the press,” he said. “And on the other hand, they are monitoring the metadata of journalists, they are seizing phone records, they are trying to compel journalists to testify against their sources, they are trying to figure out who journalists are talking to within government so that they can go and indict those people.”

“Our profession, our trade is the only one specifically cited in the Constitution for a reason,” he said. “When all three branches of the government are colluding against the interests of the people, it’s the responsibility of journalists to hold them accountable. But this White House, like Bush’s before, they seem to want only state media. They want everything to look like MSNBC, and that’s not real journalism.”

My only question is, what took him so long? This is something that many of us on the right have been saying for years, and for this we have been bashed. I have been saying for years that MSNBC is nothing but the Ministry of Propaganda and the propaganda wing of the Obama regime so it is quite satisfying to see someone on the left basically admit that what we have been saying for so long is the truth.

Welcome to the fold Mr. Scahill, better late than never…..

A new study claims Barack Obama only met once with Kathleen Sebelius over Obamacare since it was signed into law

December 5, 2013

According to this story, a new study has been released which concludes that Barack Obama only met with Kathleen Sebelius one time in the three plus years between the time Obamacare was signed into law until the disastrous roll-out.

Kathleen Sebelious was charged with basically writing the Obamacare regulations as well as overseeing the healthcare exchange website and Barack Obama could not be bothered to even inquire about the progress on his signature legislation? Was he just not interested in the progress (or lack thereof) being made?

This tells me that while the president loves the publicity that comes with achieving what he considers to be legislative victories that he either has no interest in actually becoming involved in the details of governing or he was distancing himself from the law from the beginning just in case it turned out as badly as it did for he knew the difficulties involved in trying to implement such a large program.

Either way, this shows a total lack of leadership on the part of Barack Obama.

Barack Obama admits he lived with his illegal alien uncle for a brief time

December 5, 2013

Over a year ago Barack Obama’s illegal alien uncle, Onyango Obama, got drunk and was involved in a car accident. It was at this time that we learned he had violated deportation orders in the past. When questioned on this the White House informed us that there was no record of the president having ever met his uncle.

But then yesterday, at the elder Obama’s deportation hearing, we learned that Barack Obama did indeed meet his uncle and in fact lived with him for several weeks as he was preparing to go to Harvard.

This is not the most important issue facing our country, to say the least, but I bring it up because this is just another example of the president not being truthful with the American people.

John Boehner will push for amnesty after the primary filing period is over

December 4, 2013

John Boehner cannot be trusted when it comes to the issue of amnesty for illegal aliens. We know that he supports amnesty–which is why he hired as an adviser the person who  helped John McCain push his amnesty bill–but has promised not to bring amnesty up for a vote unless a majority of House Republicans support the measure. This presents John Boehner with a problem, he wants amnesty but he does not want to upset conservative voters before the election because he needs them in order to hold onto his power.

Harry Reid recently said that John Boehner will cave on amnesty and for once I have to agree with the Senate Majority Leader. So how does John Boehner plan to rectify his personal opinion with the will of the conservative voters?

The NSA is tracking 5 billion cellphone calls every day

December 4, 2013

We are just now beginning to learn exactly how extensive the NSA cellphone tracking is and it is even more vast than I thought it was. the NSA is tracking cellphone usage to the tune of nearly 5 billion calls a day.

The National Security Agency is gathering nearly 5 billion records a day on the whereabouts of cellphones around the world, according to top-secret documents and interviews with U.S. intelligence officials, enabling the agency to track the movements of individuals — and map their relationships — in ways that would have been previously unimaginable.

The records feed a vast database that stores information about the locations of at least hundreds of millions of devices, according to the officials and the documents, which were provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. New projects created to analyze that data have provided the intelligence community with what amounts to a mass surveillance tool.

Needless to say, when the government is tracking this type of volume of calls it goes without saying that millions of innocent Americans are also being caught in this surveillance ring: Read more…
