Obamacare: Kathleen Sebelius “urges” insurance companies to cover people who haven’t paid for their plans
One of the biggest problems, and one that has gone largely unreported in the mainstream media, with Obamacare is the fact that the healthcare website provides so means to pay for the coverage people have signed up for. People who think they have enrolled in Obamacare, and think they are in compliance with the law, are not actually enrolled until they pay for the product they purchased, yet people are finding it hard to do so.
When pressed by the Congress last week Kathleen Sebelius admitted that people are not fully enrolled in Obamacare until they make the required payment, so the number of people who have successfully enrolled in the president’s signature accomplishment is much lower than the number we have been given.
Just over one year ago John Boehner punished the conservatives in the Republican party by removing them from key budget committee positions, he did this because they had the gall to challenge the status quo in Washington and he did not like people challenging his authority. After all, he feels his power is his natural born right. John Boehner did not like the way they voted on budget issues; in other words they failed to fall in lockstep with the elitist, ruling class establishment Republicans so they had to be taught a lesson.
After doing this John Boehner turned around and threatened more conservatives with the same punishment if they did not fall in line with the establishment. And yesterday it appears as if John Boehner made good on this threat.
Harry Reid pressured DHS to grant visas to shady investors in order to benefit his son
I wanted to write about this story a couple of days ago but it has been a busy week and I simply did not have the time.
Harry Reid has been pressuring the Department of Homeland Security to grant visas to a certain group of people in his home state:
Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid took an intense interest in pushing through visas for dozens of shady Asian investors for a Las Vegas casino represented by his son, Rory Reid, documents and reports show.
The investors, who were flagged for “suspicious financial activity,” had initially been denied visas by the Department of Homeland Security in a process that usually does not allow for appeals.
In a Dec. 5, 2012 email to officials at the Department of Homeland Security obtained by The Washington Times, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Legislative Affairs official Miguel Rodriguez wrote, “This one is going to be a major headache for us all because Sen. Reid’s office/staff is pushing hard and I just had a long yelling match on the phone.”
You may be wondering why Harry Reid showed such an interest in getting visas for this shady group. Well, he had his reasons: Read more…
The Obamacare website’s lack of security violates Federal law
Considering the fact that Barack Obama picks and chooses which Federal laws he will enforce and which ones he will ignore, this news should come as no surprise.
It has been well established, at least in the blogoshere, that the Obamacare website had no security built in and is considered to be a hacker’s paradise, but now we are learning that the healthcare website might actually be in violation of Federal security laws: Read more…
Then vs now: Mary Landrieu on Barack Obama’s ‘if you like your plan you can keep it’ lie
Mary Landrieu voted for Obamacare but now that she is up for reelection she is calling out Barack Obama for his ‘if you like your plan you can keep it’ lie in a new campaign ad.
In her new campaign ad she states “you told them they could keep it.” [emphasis mine] She is speaking directly to Barack Obama and his now infamous promise. She has now introduced a bill to “fix” Barack Obama’s broken promise while championing herself as an Obamacare reformer. She states that Barack Obama needs to keep to his word for it is a promise he made and so it is a promise he should keep.
Here is the campaign ad:
She is clearly trying to distance herself from Barack Obama’s broken promise. However, as this article points out, Barack Obama is not the only one who made this promise.
Darrell Issa tells Kathleen Sebelius that blocking contractors from testifying in front of the Congress about Obamacare is “criminal obstruction”
Earlier today Darrell Issa sent Kathleen Sebelius a letter warning her that her attempt to block contractors from testifying in front of the Congress is “criminal obstruction.”
Here is part of what he had to say:
“The Department’s most recent effort to stonewall, however, has morphed from mere obstinacy into criminal obstruction of a congressional investigation.” He added, “Obstructing a Congressional investigation is a crime. The federal obstruction laws reflect the fact that Congress’ right of access to information is constitutionally based and critical to the integrity and effectiveness of our oversight and investigative activities. For that reason, it is widely understood that private citizens and companies cannot contract away their duty to comply with a congressional request for documents.”
Under the law, Issa pointed out, “any effort to enforce a contract that prevents a federal employee – or in this case, a contractor – from communicating from Congress is unlawful.”
It is interesting to note here that this morning Kathleen Sebelius asked for an investigation into the launch of Obamacare–effectively asking to have herself investigated. It appears likely to me that she knew Darrell Issa’s letter was probably coming soon and she looked to head it off at the pass by making it look as if she wanted to get to the truth, as if we did not know who is responsible for this debacle.
New Hampshire Democrats create a fake Marilinda Garcia Facebook page complete with Adolf Hitler quotes
New Hampshire Democrats are scared to death of Marilinda Garcia; so afraid that they viciously attacked her on Twitter almost immediately after she announced she would seek the Republican nomination to face off against ultra-moonbat Ann Kuster.
But apparently the New Hampshire Democrats did not think that attack went far enough so they created a fake Marilinda Garcia Facebook page complete with Adolf Hitler quotes which they attributed to Marilinda Garcia. This is beyond despicable, they have reached a new low–if that is possible.
When Marilinda Garcia found out about this page and brought it to light the page was taken down, but this shows us how low the Democrats in this state will go to protect one of their own.
Here is what her spokesman had to say: Read more…
As if losing your healthcare coverage and your doctor wasn’t bad enough you may also lose your medications as a direct result of Obamacare according to this story:
Now it’s possible that under Obamacare, some people won’t be able to keep their medications, or at least not afford them, under the complex formulary structure of the plans on the health exchanges and because of the rising costs.
“If you like your medicines, you may not be able to keep them under Obamacare,” health policy analyst Scott Gottlieb wrote in a Forbes column. “Health plans are cheapening their drug formularies – just like they cheapened their networks of doctors. That’s how their paying for the benefits that President Obama promised, everything from free contraception to a leveling of premiums between older (and typically costlier) beneficiaries, and younger consumers.”
The affordability of prescriptions could hinge on whether a consumer is enrolled in a platinum, gold, silver or bronze plan.
In some cases, to be covered at all, the drug will have to be included in the plan – similar to how doctors must be part of a network covered by insurance, he wrote.
“The out of pocket caps on consumer spending only apply to costs incurred on drugs that are included on a plan’s drug formulary,” Gottlieb wrote. “This is the list of medicines that the health plans have agreed to provide some coverage for.”
“If the drug isn’t on this formulary list, then the patient could be responsible for its full cost (with little or no co-insurance to help offset that cost),” he continued. “Moreover, the money they spend won’t count against their deductibles or out of pocket limits ($12,700 for a family, $6,350 for an individual).”
