The Latest New Hampshire Republican primary poll (12/13/11)

The latest Rasmussen New Hampshire Republican primary poll has just been released and it shows us that one candidate appears to be surging, however that candidate may not be the person you have in mind.
According to thispoll Mitt Romney holds an advantage over Newt Gingrich by a margin of 33%-22%.
This poll shows Romney increasing his lead over Gingrich ever so slightly as the last Rasmussen poll had Romney ahead of Gingrich by a 34%-24% margin.
While the top two contenders have seen their numbers virtually unchanged here in New Hampshire it is none other than Ron Paul who appears to be gaining momentum in the Granite State.
Ron Paul has moved into third place, just four points behind Newt Gingrich and now has the support of 18% of the voters surveyed in New Hampshire.
I believe this shows that New Hampshire voters are unhappy with both of the front runners that the main stream media is trying to force upon us– Mitt (I really am a conservative now) Romney and Newt (my past is a legitimate issue until you question me about it) Gingrich–and are beginning to look elsewhere.
This race is still just beginning and while the main stream media is telling us that either Romney or Gingrich is destined to become the nominee, the fact is that not one person has cast a vote yet so it is way too early to crown a victor in this race.
We let the main stream media chose a RINO for us in 2008 and they have tried to narrow our choices down to two RINOs this time around, are we going to allow them to do this to us again?
I happen to like Rick Santorum–although I haven’t made my mind up yet– and Sarah Palin recently predicted that if Republican voters wanted an ideologically consistent conservative Rick Santorum would make a move in the polls.
I don’t think that is going to happen, but Ron Paul’s momentum in this state may offer us a clue that Romney and Gingrich aren’t as entrenched as the front runners as the main stream media would have us believe.

Last week I wrote a post about the Congress passing the defense bill with language which was worrisome because it could be interpreted to mean the United States military could be used against citizens who were in the United States without due process, and coupled with the news that Barack Obama’s lawyers have ruled that United States citizens are legitimate military targets the story I am about to write about is doubly troubling.
According to this article the police in North Dakota were looking for three armed men who had chased local law enforcement officials off of their property. The police did have a search warrant and these men’s actions cannot be defended and it is not my intent to do so here.
But that does not excuse what happened next; the police called in reinforcements, including the Highway Patrol, the bomb squad, SWAT, and…..two unmanned Predator drones from the
local Air Force base.
As the unmanned aircraft circled 2 miles overhead the next morning, sophisticated sensors under the nose helped pinpoint the three suspects and showed they were unarmed. Police rushed in and made the first known arrests of U.S. citizens with help from a Predator
This story might be a benign example of the usage of a Predator drone on American soil, using a drone on a reconnaissance mission to ensure a situation is safe before the police enter a potentially dangerous situation seems harmless enough, but does anyone not think that their usage will become more commonplace as we move forward if we simply accept this? And as Predator drones flying over American soil becomes more commonplace are we to believe that they will not gain the authority to take more enlarged powers in law enforcement?
I am not talking about a future where Predator drones are called on to fire on American citizens, but rather a future where the drones are routinely flying over American cities and spying on Americans under the justification of stopping potential crimes. I am talking about a future where the military is charged with policing the American people BEFORE a crime has taken place.
We have already seen the unintended consequences of a well intentioned law–the PATRIOT Act–Americans see their 4th amendment protection violated on an hourly basis by the TSA as that organization assumes more and more power, we have the DHS actively encouraging American citizens to spy on each other in the “see something, say something” campaign launched by Janet Napolitano and this seems to ba a natural extension and byproduct of that law.
When are we as Americans going to stand up and declare that enough is enough!? Is this really the America we want to live in?
Gunrunner: Hank Johnson blames Fast and Furious on the NRA, the Tea Party, and the Senate
In case you have forgotten who Congressman Hank Johnson is here is a little reminder:
With the reintroduction out of the way it is obvious that we can’t take what this man says too seriously but he made a couple of statements about Operation Fast and Furious that I still feel I must touch upon because this is going to be the new defense for the deadly operation.
When asked about Operation Fast and Furious Hank Johnson had this to say:
“I think this is another manufactured controversy by the second amendment, NRA Republican tea party movement
The Obama regime greatly increased legal gun sales to Mexico knowing 26% would fall into the hands of the drug cartels
According to this article, in 2006–under President Bush–the State Department sold almost 2,500 non-military grade weapons to the Mexican military under the Direct Commercial Sales program and it was estimated that 26% of these weapons made it into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels, which is not really surprising for what use would the Mexican military have with non-military grade weapons in the first place? This news came to light in 2009.
So what did Barack Obama do with this news when it came to light? One would think that the responsible thing to do would be to stop the program, but that is not what he decided to do. In fact, he did the opposite and increased the sales through DCS tenfold. Read more…
Gunrunner: Eric Holder testifies in front of the Congress
Today Eric Holder had his much anticipated appearance before the Oversight Committee and there were a few interesting aspects that I am going to write about in this one post.
Darrell Issa fired the opening salvo, mentioning that Fast and Furious was being used as a tool to implement gun control regulations:
This administration is more interested in building data bases, in talking about control, than controlling the flow of guns they had control over. …[Fast and Furious] was not an accident. This project was failed and flawed from the beginning.
The president has said he has full confidence in this attorney general. I have not confidence in a president who has not terminated those…who knew enough to stop this program. …Mr. attorney general, the blame must go to your desk. Why haven’t you terminated the many people involved?
Powerful comments by Darrell Issa indeed, he calls into question the integrity of both Eric Holder and Barack Obama for not holding the people they claim are the ones responsible for Fast and Furious accountable. Why is it that nobody who is responsible for fast and Furious has been fired, while others within the department who were involved have actually been promoted? Could it be that both the Attorney General and the president are not being truthful about what they knew and when they knew it? Are they the ones responsible for Fast and Furious?
Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner certainly does not feel that Eric Holder has been truthful to this point and he made it perfectly clear when he told Eric Holder to either come clean or face the possibility of impeachment. Read more…
John McCain and Lindsey Graham admit they didn’t know the defense bill legalized bestiality in the military
My two Senators–Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, and Republican Kelly Ayotte–both hailed the passage of the recent defense bill; this was one of the only times–if not the only time–they voted the same way on a piece of legislation. But one would have to wonder if they would have both hailed this as a victory if they had realized that this bill lifted the ban on bestiality in the military.
Perhaps they did not bother to read the bill before they decided to vote on it, and if this is the case it appears as if they are not alone. As can be read here and here, “Republicans” John McCain and Lindsey Graham both were asked whether they knew the defense bill, which they both voted in favor of, lifted the ban on bestiality in the military and both declared they had no clue this provision was in the bill.
Fort Hood attack classified as “workplace violence”
The Defense Department has now classified the Fort Hood attack by Nidal Hasan in which 13 United States military personnel were killed as “workplace violence.”
And all this time I had jumped to the conclusion that a man who opposed US involvement in the Middle East, shouting allahu akbar as he shot people dead in cold blood, and who was in contact with, and inspired by Anwar al-Awlaki–a United States citizen who was successfully targeted for assassination by Barack Obama–was guilty of terrorism.
What a relief this news is, whew.
Gunrunner: Charles Grassley calls for Lanny Breuer’s resignation on the Senate floor
Earlier today Senator Charles Grassley took to the Senate floor and demanded the resignation of Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer.
Here are the details why Senator Grassley made this demand:
On October 18, 2010, Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer sent communiqués to Attorney General Eric Holder alerting the A.G. that indictments over Fast and Furious could be forthcoming. This alert came on the heels of briefings on Fast and Furious which were sent to Holder at least as early July 2010. Yet although Fast and Furious was the topic of such correspondence and the focus of such briefings, in February 2011 Breuer told Congress he knew nothing about the gun walking tactics which had been used in the operation. His contention was that he only learned of the tactics once Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry had been killed in December 2010.
More recently, however, Breuer has decided he knew about the gun walking aspects of Fast and Furious as early as April 2010. But he continues to carry water for the DOJ by saying that although he knew, he never took the time to tell Holder about the gun walking.
First Lanny Breuer claimed he knew nothing about the deadly gunrunning scandal known as Fast and Furious even though he sent Eric Holder an email warning him of the upcoming investigation, and then he claimed he did know about the scandal earlier than he previously admitted but that he never bothered to tell Eric Holder about the scandal even as the investigation was about to get underway.
A date which will live in infamy
For all intents and purposes America was at peace with the world as night fell on December 6th, 1941. (Although FDR was secretly helping the British against Germany.) But that was about to change because in the early morning of Sunday December 7th, 1941 the Japanese led a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor which thrust America into WWII.
We must never forget what happened that day and we must never let out guard down.
Mitt Romney will not participate in the Donald Trump debate
Earlier this week two Republican presidential candidates–Ron Paul and John Huntsman–announced that they would not participate in Donald Trump’s debate on December 27th, and today Mitt Romney also announced that he would skip the debate. (Of course, tomorrow is a different day and knowing Mitt Romney’s past he might just decide to join after all.)
Personally, I think this is a great move by Mitt Romney and I hope that all the other candidates who have not announced their intentions also snub Donald Trump. As Harrison wrote in this post on Capitol Commentary; Donald Trump only cares about Donald Trump and he is simply doing this for the publicity.
Donald Trump did not agree to moderate this debate because he feels this is such an important election that he has to do something to help defeat Obama, he is doing this simply to get his name and his face on television and I for one do not want to see this primary season turned into a circus. And I feel that is exactly what is going to happen if the debate does in fact take place because Donald Trump will try to make himself the center of attention during the debate and take the attention off of the candidates and the important issues facing our country as we move forward–and that is the last thing we need at this point.
