Solyndra scandal: Crony capitalism at is worst
The Solyndra scandal seems to be climbing to heights almost comparable to the deadly Gunrunner scandal, with the exception of this being a case of crony capitalism and not about life and death as is the Gunrunner scandal. It had earlier come to light that Barack Obama fast tracked a review of Solyndra so that the company could receive $500 million in stimulus money–even though many thought the company was not viable–in order to give Joe Biden a nice little backdrop to announce Barack Obama’s new “green” initiative. This was to be the centerpiece of Barack Obama’s new initiative which would created thousands of “green” energy jobs and bring the United States out of recession.
A funny thing happened on the path to the “green” initiative however as a few months after Solyndra received $500 million in stimulus money the company filed for bankruptcy.
Gunrunner: Audio tapes point to a government coverup at Brian Terry’s murder scene
Shortly after Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by Mexican drug lords it was learned that the United States government had allowed the sale of the murder weapons to the drug lords as part of Operation Fast and Furious. The official government account of the murder scene stated that two weapons found at the scene were traced back to this deadly operation, but as I first wrote about here, it is quite possible that three weapons related to the scandal were found at the scene, but one was removed by federal agents because it was more easily traceable to Fast and Furious. The Operation Fast and Furious coverup was underway as soon as Brian Terry was murdered, and it continues to this day as Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley desperately try to get to the bottom of this scandal.

Ovide Lamontagne will run for governor of New Hampshire
The Union Leader is now reporting in this article that Ovide Lamontagne will announce on Monday that he is running for governor of New Hampshire.
Promising to bring “renewed conservative leadership to the governor’s office,” Manchester attorney Ovide Lamontagne said this afternoon that he will announce his candidacy for governor on Monday, Sept. 19.
At the state and federal levels, “Government is out of control, spends too much, is inefficient is not doing the work of the people as it should,” Lamontagne said in an exclusive interview with the Granite Status
Regular readers of America’s Watchtower may recall that I am a huge Ovide Lamontagne supporter and I am thrilled with this news. This is what I wrote when it was learned that Ovide Lamontagne was seriously considering running for governor:
Solyndra scandal: Barack Obama put a campaign donor ahead of the American taxpayers
It has been learned that the Obama regime rushed an evaluation on the green technologies company, Solyndra, in order to give Barack Obama a quick “victory” so Joe Biden could run around the country touting the virtues of the stimulus bill and Barack Obama’s “green energy” initiative. The Obama regime granted Solyndra a $500 million loan as part of the stimulus package despite warnings from some of his advisers that the company was a very risky investment and last week the company announced that it was closing its doors in spite of that loan.
Under the rules set forth in the stimulus bill the taxpayers were supposed to be the number one priority in any loan to a company in the event that a company went belly up, thus insuring that the taxpayers’ money was somewhat protected. But that did not happen in the case of Solyndra because the Obama regime restructured the loan to protect private investors in the company instead of the American taxpayers, and by an unbelievable coincidence one of those investors just happens to be a major Democrat contributor.

Nobel Prize winning doctor quits the APS because of global warming fear mongering
Dr. Ivar Giaever, a Nobel Prize winner in 1973, has resigned his Fellowship in the American Physical Society because of this society’s fear mongering on global warming:
In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible? The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this ‘warming’ period
The global warming hoax is continuing to unravel since Climategate was revealed and this is the latest blow to the statists who wish to impose their radical agenda on the American people. Dr. Ivar Giaever states that the statistic the society touts as a potential catastrophic trend–the rise of the earth’s temperature of about one degree in the last 150 years–is not a sign of impending doom, but rather a remarkably consistent number, and during the time of this miniscule rise in the earth’s temperature the people of the world are more happy and more healthy than at any other time in history. He also questions the basic premise of the global warming argument, that the earth’s temperature is rising; asking how can a person measure the whole earth’s temperature.
But statists–such as Barack Obama–are not interested in opposing viewpoints on this issue and continue to push an agenda in which the true goal is to “influence” the behavior of their subjects in an attempt to further subjugate them. We have been told time and time again from people who have made millions from this scam–Al Gore–that the science is settled and it is time for us to bow to our global warming overlords because they know how to heal the planet, yet more scientists are beginning to question that claim and Dr. Giaever is the latest but I don’t think he will be the last.
New Hampshire House overrides Governor Lynch’s Castle Doctrine veto
In the last legislative session in New Hampshire the State House and the State Senate passed an expansion of the Castle Doctrine–dubbed the stand your ground bill–by veto proof majorities. The “stand your ground” bill expanded the already existing Castle Doctrine to ensure that a person in New Hampshire who was legally carrying a weapon could defend themselves without fear of prosecution not only in their homes but in any place where they had a legal right to be.
Governor John Lynch swiftly vetoed the “stand your ground” bill so the process of overriding the veto was set in motion. Two weeks ago the State Senate voted by a margin of 17-7 to override the veto, so all eyes turned to the State House and yesterday the State House voted to override the veto by a vote of 251-111. Neither vote was close and now the “stand your ground” is law and residents of New Hamphsire can defend themselves wherever they have a right to be when they feel their life or the lives of others are in danger.
New Hampshire Governor John Lynch will not run for reelection in 2012
Earlier today New Hampshire Governor John Lynch announced that he would not seek reelection in 2012. Governor Lynch is the first governor in state history to hold the office for four consecutive terms and he has decided not to try for a fifth term. It should be stated at this point that New Hampshire and Vermont are unique in the fact that the governor serves for a term of two years, not four like the rest of the states, so he will be bowing out after an unprecedented eight years as governor.
This is going to be a big blow to the Democrat party here in New Hampshire as the governor still enjoys a high approval rating, and was in fact the last Democrat standing after the 2010 election. It is my belief that if the governor had not run for reelection in 2010 the Republicans would have also beat a weaker Democrat candidate for the governorship. There is the very real chance that if Governor Lynch ran again in 2012 that he would have won again, but now that he is leaving whoever wins the Democrat nomination in 2012 will be in a much weaker position that the governor would have been if he had decided to run again.
This is going to provide the Republicans with a glorious opportunity to win the governor’s seat in 2012 and complete the sweep which started in 2010. I do think that the Republicans had a decent chance to beat Governor Lynch in 2012, but this makes it much more likely that they can win it.
There are rumors that my choice for senator in the 2010 election, Ovide Lamontagne, is going to run for governor and this is encouraging news as I now feel that Lamontagne is the early favorite to be the next governor of New Hampshire. The only way this could backfire on the Republicans is this: Governor Lynch was a fairly moderate Democrat when the Republicans were in the majority, and the Democrat candidate who wins the nomination will likely be more liberal than John Lynch, so if the Democrat wins the governor’s seat we will end up with a more liberal person than John Lynch. Still, I look forward to the day when I can call Ovide Lamontagne governor, and I don’t think I will have to wait too long.
The White House pressured a General to change his testimony before the Congress in order to protect a campaign donor
The Obama regime is already caught in the middle of two potentially huge and devastating scandals; the first being the deadly Gunrunner/Gunwalker/Fast and Furious/Castaway scandal which I have written about extensively, and the second being the burgeoning Solyndra scandal in which it appears as if the Obama regime had a cozy relationship with the green energy company which received $500 million in taxpayer stimulus money just months before going belly up. But now it looks as if the Obama regime is about to get caught up in a third major scandal.
According to this article the story goes like this: A company called LightSquared which is run by a major Democrat donor, Philip Falcone, was developing a new technology which the Pentagon feared would interfere with the military’s GPS system and the Congress was beginning to hold hearings about the Pentagon’s worries. A four-star Air Force general, William Shelton, was set to testify in front of the Congress but his prepared testimony was leaked to the White House. The White House was unhappy with the testimony because it was unfavorable to a major Democrat campaign donor, so they asked the general to change his testimony when he appeared before the Congress.

The Obama campaign starts a website urging people to report their neighbors
The Obama campaign has launched a new website called Attack Watch which urges people to report anyone who gossips about, smears, or attacks the president. Does this sound familiar? If it doesn’t it should because this is not the first time that Barack Obama has urged citizens to turn in other citizens for opposing the positions of Dear Leader.
During the healthcare reform debate Barack Obama started a website which urged American citizens to report people who opposed this legislation. This website urged people who engaged other people in a casual conversation about Obamacare to report that person if they held a position which the regime felt was an “untruth.” By “untruth” Barack Obama means anyone who was opposed to the legislation.
But this attempt at silencing free speech and intimidating his opponents began before Barack Obama even became president; how can we forget the “truth squads” that then candidate Obama sent out to try to intimidate television stations which ran what he felt were “misleading” ads?
There is a growing pattern here; if you oppose the president and his positions he wants to know about it, and he urges other citizens to tell him about it. He claims that this is an effort to right the wrongs done against him by misinformation but one has to think that he is actually compiling an enemies list.
What is he going to do with this list? Hopefully he won’t be president long enough for us to find out the answer to that question.
Democrat thanks Barack Obama for bypassing the Congress on immigration
Last month Barack Obama announced a new immigration policy which basically granted illegal aliens defacto amnesty unless they commit another crime. He did this by fiat, bypassing the Congress and basically telling DHS and ICE not to enforce federal law under the guise of “prioritizing” which illegal aliens would be prosecuted and which ones would be let go.
Today Democrat Representative Luis Gutierrez thanked Barack Obama for bypassing the Congress:
We had a president of the United States that recently was speaking at National Council of La Raza who said during his speech, ‘There are those who simply wish me to bypass Congress when it comes to immigration,’ and many in the audience clapped, saying, ‘Yup, bypass Congress…’” Gutierrez told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) conference on Monday.
“He (Obama) said, ‘But I can’t bypass Congress,’ and people in the audience said, ‘Yes you can,’ and you want to know something? They were right — he could and he did, and I want to thank the President of the United States, and I want to thank all of those that work at the White House for issuing new guidance when it comes to deportations
Here we have a Democrat member of the House thanking Barack Obama for bypassing the Congress, of which he is a member, because he feels it is more important for the president to implement policies that he believes in than it is for his colleagues to actually have a vote on that issue.
It isn’t very often that we hear of a member of the Congress thanking the president for ignoring the legislative branch but that is exactly what Luis Gutierrez is doing here. He is willing to relinquish his responsibility because he agrees with the president on this issue, but he doesn’t give a damn about how the other members of the Congress feel about this issue. And would he still feel as if this were appropriate if it were a Republican president who implemented a policy with which he disagreed?
We have heard a new campaign slogan from Barack Obama over the lest week or so; he claims that it is time for Republicans to put country over party when talking about his new “jobs” bill, but what is Gutierrez doing if he is not placing party ahead of the very system set up in the constitution?
