Herman Cain wins the Florida straw poll!
In a shocking development, Herman Cain won the Florida straw poll just two days after the latest GOP debate. What might be even more shocking than the victory itself is the margin by which he won the poll. Herman Cain received 37% of the vote while Rick Perry and Mitt Romney ended in a virtual dead heat at 15% and 14% respectively.
I have been less than enamored with the candidates that the media dubbed the GOP frontrunners and have been giving a close look to the “second tier”candidates from the outset, but then along came Rick Perry to shake up the race and my focus shifted toward him and away from the “second tier” candidates as I knew little about him and had hoped that he would be the GOP savior.
I honestly wanted to be able to vote for Rick Perry but I still cannot get beyond his defense of the Texas DREAM Act and his claim that if you oppose the Texas DREAM Act it means that you are heartless. This all but ended any consideration I had for him as my candidate–as well as many others who had hoped Perry would fill the void–and while I do not support Mitt Romney I thought that the last debate would propel him back into the lead in the GOP field.
It appears as if Mitt Romney–for justifiable reasons–simply is not able to endear himself to the Republican base and I think that the Florida straw poll shows us that . The Republican primary voters are not going to allow the media to dictate to us who the nominee should be and thusly are looking at the candidates which the media tell us have no shot at the nomination.
I happen to be a fan of Herman Cain and Rick Santorum and I will most likely cast my primary vote for one of the two and it is refreshing to see a lesser known like Herman Cain gain some traction.
Will Herman Cain win the nomination? It is highly unlikely, but I think this serves as notice to those who are considered to be frontrunners that the American people are sick and tired of Washington politics and are willing to look outside the box. The GOP race has just become a little more interesting, hasn’t it?
Barack Obama admits to circumventing the Congress on No Child Left Behind
It has been the contention of many of Barack Obama’s detractors–myself included–that Barack Obama doesn’t care about the constitution and is willing to circumvent it whenever he feels it is necessary. I have written about how Barack Obama is not adverse to using government agencies such as the FCC and the EPA to make end runs around the Congress and implement policies which the Congress did not pass. Then there is his penchant for using the Executive Order for implementing new policies such as amnesty for illegal aliens and the like.
Barack Obama has been getting away with this because the Congress has not been willing to stand up for itself on a whole and reign in a president who doesn’t understand the concept that the three branches of government are equal–he does not preside kinglike over a parliament no matter how much he wished this were the case.
Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to run for president
I have been less than impressed with the GOP candidates for president: I am having trouble getting past Rick Perry’s continual defense of the Texas DREAM Act, and his statement that if you do not agree with his decision you are heartless really bothers the hell out of me; Mitt has Romneycare and his history of flip-flopping; I like Ron Paul when it comes to financial issues and his strict interpretation of the constitution, but his foreign policy is isolationist and dangerous. I like both Rick Santorum and Herman Cain but they are not going to win the nomination. And John Huntsman is nothing but a plant to make the other candidates seem radical by comparison–at least in my opinion. Hell, during the debate last night Mitt Romney even stated that there were plenty of reasons to vote against him and the rest of the GOP field–if Romney feels this way, and states in on national television during a debate, what must the voters be thinking?
So I am open to other candidates entering the race in order to give us other options and now it is being reported that Chris Christie may be reconsidering his decision not to run for president. This is welcome news to me as I have not yet been able to connect with any of the candidates; this will give me one more option, and I will take a close look at him moving forward if he enters the race. The Obama regime moves to ban over the counter Asthma inhalers
During last night’s GOP debate several candidates targeted the EPA as a federal agency which has become out of control. Some candidates professed a desire to reign in the EPA, while others declared a desire to eliminate this agency altogether. One candidate–forgive me for I forget which candidate–used the example of the EPA moving to regulate dust as proof that the EPA is out of control, and that candidate is right, but I would like to offer further proof that the EPA needs to be stopped.
The EPA, with the help of the FDA, is in the process banning Asthma inhalers; Here is the story:
Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government’s latest attempt to protect the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.
The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.
But the switch to a greener inhaler will cost consumers more. Epinephrine inhalers are available via online retailers for around $20, whereas the alternatives, which contain the drug albuterol, range from $30 to $60.
The FDA has announced that at the end of the year people suffering from Asthma will no longer be able to purchase what Barack Obama once famously claimed were breathalyzers, the over the counter inhalers that many Asthma suffers rely on and this is because the EPA has decided that they are destroying the planet.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was always under the impression that people inhaled the medicine from these devices–hence the name, so how is it that these supposedly harmful CFCs make it into the atmoshpere?
George Soros was invested in LightSquared
For those who are unaware of the burgeoning LightSquared scandal, below is a quick background on the story which I wrote about here:
A company called LightSquared which is run by a major Democrat donor, Philip Falcone, was developing a new technology which the Pentagon feared would interfere with the military’s GPS system and the Congress was beginning to hold hearings about the Pentagon’s worries. A four-star Air Force general, William Shelton, was set to testify in front of the Congress but his prepared testimony was leaked to the White House. The White House was unhappy with the testimony because it was unfavorable to a major Democrat campaign donor, so they asked the general to change his testimony when he appeared before the Congress. In addition to General Shelton, a second man has come forward testifying that the White House also pressured him to make his testimony more favorable to LightSquared. Read more…
Gunrunner: Bill Newell provides “supplemental testimony” to the Congress
As I wrote about here, the head of the Phoenix Field Division of the ATF provided information on Fast and Furious to at least one member in the White House. He also testified in the Fast and Furious investigation to the Congress, and is now admitting that his testimony was not exactly straight forward. That is an understatement to say the least; he was avoiding the questions and was clearly trying to hide something–or protect someone–in my opinion.
Bill Newell has now provided a written 12 page “supplemental testimony” to the Congress in an attempt to clarify what he was trying to say–or more accurately, not say–during his original testimony in July. Mr. Newell’s lawyer claimed that he was nervous during the testimony and was not intentionally trying to mislead the Congress, stating that any errors were simply “unintentional errors of omission.” I would argue that they were INTENTIONAL errors of omission, but that is for Darrell Issa and the Oversight Committee to decide.
Obamacare: Howard Dean admits that private employers will drop healthcare coverage

Howard Dean has admitted what most of us knew was the truth all along; Obamacare was designed to get more people off of private healthcare insurance and onto the government dole. This was the true intent all along and only after this disastrous bill was passed are Democrats now willing to admit the truth.
Darrell Issa to launch investigations into Solyndra and LightSquared
Now that Darrell Issa is on the verge of appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the deadly Fast and Furious operation he has a little more free time and he has decided to launch an investigation into the two latest scandals that have rocked the Obama regime–Solyndra and LightSquared.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that his committee plans to investigate government loan programs to private corporations in light of allegations of improper dealings between the White House and failed energy company Solyndra and wireless start-up LightSquared.

For those who are unaware of these latest scandals I will give a very brief summary: Solydra was a green energy company that Barack Obama wished to make the centerpiece of his new green jobs initiative, and the owner just happened to be a major donor to the Obama campaign, so he fast tracked a review into the solvency of the company in order to present Joe Biden with the needed backdrop to announce the initiative. By doing so Barack Obama ignored the warning signs and granted Solyndra a $500 million loan in stimulus funds. Predictably the company went bankrupt and because Barack Obama changed the rules agreed to in the stimulus bill the campaign donor was granted priority over the American taxpayer for any funds recouped in the bankruptcy. The campaign donor was protected and the American taxpayer is on the hook for the entire $500 million.
The LightSquared story isn’t much different: LightSquared is a company which is owned by a major Democrat supporter and they created a new GPS technology. The military is worried that this technology would interfere with military GPS technology so a review was being conducted into this claim but the White House has pressured at least two people to change their testimony in order to favor the company over the military’s concerns.
This reeks of the very same type of crony capitalism that Barack Obama condemned during his 2008 presidential run and now Darrell Issa is poised to begin investigating this new “partnership between business and government” and it doesn’t come a moment to soon.
With the success that Darrell Issa had in unraveling the government’s involvement in the death of Brian Terry in the Gunrunner scandal I have no doubt that he will get to the bottom if this if any crimes have been committed.
To Barack Obama I have only one thing to say; be afraid, be very afraid.
Gunrunner: New damning audio clips released
Yesterday I wrote a post about audio recordings which came to light that verified a report that one weapon was reomved from Brian Terry’s murder sight by the federal government, and today a new audio clip has just been released at CBS News of a conversation between ATF agent Hope Macallister and Andre Howard of the Lone Wolf Trading Company.
Unfortunately I am unable to post the audio clip here, but please go to the link provided above to listen to the audio clip. It is well worth your time as they are clearly worried about the scandal right from the very beginning.
In this audio they discuss how much information was released by the whistleblower, talk about how they were effective in killing one investigation into the scandal but are worried about these “idiots” in the House–Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley–because they hate Eric Holder, lament the fact that people are talking about this scandal who might have some pull, wish the FBI would “shut the fuck up,” and call Patrick Leahy an “asshole” because if he “gets ahold of something he’s like a dog with a bone.”
These audio clips are fascinating and show us that they were very scared of a possible investigation into this scandal–and rightfully so. On an interesting side note, it appears as if Andre Howard–the owner of the gun shop that sold the weapons–was not an unwilling dupe in this scandal, he is either scared for his business or he was somehow duplicitous in the scandal.
Gunrunner: Darrell Issa will call for a special prosecutor
Claiming that the only reason possible for Eric holder to not know about the deadly Fast and Furious operation is because he did not want to know, Darrell Issa is calling for a special prosecutor.
Here is part of what Darrell Issa had to say earlier today:
We’d like to have a true special prosecutor, particularly when it’s obvious if Eric Holder didn’t know, it’s because he didn’t want to know or because he wasn’t doing his job,” Issa said in a conference call with reporters on Tuesday. “That creates a clear pattern of we’d like to know who did know and why they didn’t brief the attorney general
Darrell Issa is right on; either Eric Holder knew about the scandal and is lying, he purposely kept himself out of the loop, or he was grossly negligent in doing his job. I happen to believe the former; Eric Holder knew about the operation and he is lying about his role.
Finally! Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley have done a remarkable job at peeling back the layers in this growing scandal but I feel as if they have done all that they can it is time to bring in a professional to get to the bottom of this story.
