White House fast tracked review on Solyndra in order to hand out $500 million is stimulus money for political reasons
As if it weren’t enough that the Obama regime is embroiled in the Gunrunner scandal, it looks as if there is another potential scandal brewing in the White House. This one concerns Solyndra–the green energy company that Barack Obama made the centerpiece of his green energy policy which recently filed for bankruptcy after receiving $500 million in stimulus money.
Solyndra received $500 million in taxpayer stimulus money even though George Bush had refused to grant them a guaranteed loan because the company was too risky. In addition to Barack Obama granting Solyndra the stimulus money it appears as if the Obama regime may have fast tracked the loan in order to provide a photo-op for Joe Biden and a backdrop and the regime’s new green energy policy, which led to an incomplete review and eventually to the closing of the plant.
Rick Perry defends Texas DREAM Act at the Republican debate
It is clear that there is no perfect candidate on the GOP side running for president. The two frontrunners, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry, both have baggage in their past. Romney has the Massachusetts healthcare legislation while Rick Perry has Texas’s DREAM Act in his past. While most of the candidates seem to invoke states rights when it is convenient for them, they have no problem ignoring states rights when it is not.
Mitt Romney says that he was acting within the boundaries of states rights when he signed Romneycare while claiming that Perry was not acting properly when signing the DREAM Act. Meanwhile Rick Perry says passing the DREAM Act was within his jurisdiction under states rights but Romney was wrong to pass healthcare using states rights as his justification.
Michele Bachmann claims that she is a supporter of states rights yet supports a federal ban on gay marriage instead of leaving the issue up to the states–a position that both Romney and Perry agree with. They are all trying to use states rights at times while at other times ignoring states rights–they are trying to have it both ways.

I have to admit that I am a little put off with the fact that Herman Cain seems to be using September 11th in a campaign ad, but it is still powerful and I thought I would share it with you.
Reflections on September 11th, 2001
I have been trying to decide for at least a week now how I would commemorate the September 11th attacks on this the 10th anniversary of the most deadly terrorist attack on American soil, and I have to admit that even as I write this I am mot sure where I am headed with this post–I have several ideas in my head, but I have no idea where they will take me.
The one thing that I do know is that I do not want this post to be political in any way; we can debate politics 364 days out of the year, but this is the one day when I feel it is necessary to put politics aside and remember those who fell on that day and those that have fallen in the fight against terrorism fighting in a land so far away from home and from loved ones over the last ten years. I ask that anyone who comments on this post to refrain from politics because today we are not Democrats and we are not Republicans, we are not liberals and we are not conservatives, today more than any other day we are all simply Americans. We may all have differing opinions of the direction America should take but today we must put aside our differences and reflect on what happened on this day ten years ago. Read more…
Gunrunner: Letting grenades walk into Mexico
Just when you thought that the Gunrunner scandal couldn’t get any more startling or insidious than it already was, it does. According to this story the federal government released a man from jail who had confessed to building IED using components from hand grenades and selling them to known Mexican drug lords.
Federal authorities are probing why the U.S. in 2010 let go an Arizona man accused of supplying grenades to a Mexican drug cartel, a case that played a role in the ouster last week of the nation’s top firearms regulator and the U.S. attorney in Phoenix.
Kingery, who was arrested and released in June 2010, confessed to manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) using grenade components from the U.S. He also admitted to helping the cartel convert semi-automatic rifles into machine guns. Mexican criminal organizations are increasingly using these military-style weapons as the cartels escalate their wars against the government and one another.
Despite Kingery’s confession, and over loud protestations from the arresting ATF officers, the U.S. Attorney’s office let Kingery go within hours of his arrest.
You read that right; this man was arrested and confessed to building IEDs to sell to Mexican drug lords and yet he was released by the federal government, it really cannot get much worse than this, can it?
Gunrunner: Tampering with evidence at Brian Terry’s murder scene
Contrary to the federal government’s official declaration that only two weapons were found at the scene where Brian Terry was murdered, newly uncovered emails show that three weapons authorized for sale by the federal government were actually found at the murder scene.
A third gun linked to “Operation Fast and Furious” was found at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, new documents obtained exclusively by Fox News suggest, contradicting earlier assertions by federal agencies that police found only two weapons tied to the federal government’s now infamous gun interdiction scandal.
Why would the federal government lie about the number of weapons found at the murder scene related to the Gunrunner scandal? Because one of these weapons “disappeared” shortly after Brian Terry was murdered. Almost from the very beginning it seems as if the federal government was involved in a coverup.
Gunrunner: John McCain requests a Senate hearing on Fast and Furious
As more details emerge about the deadly Operation Gunrunner scandal–the latest being the news that the ATF authorized the illegal sale of weapons to gang bangers in Indiana, some of which have turned up at crime scenes–John McCain has requested that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee open up a second investigation into this scandal.
He is also requesting that Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, and Todd Jones be called upon to testify as witnesses under oath. While it is encouraging to see more of our elected officials taking an interest in the Gunrunner scandal I don’t think that his request will amount to anything because the Senate is still controlled by Democrats. And it goes without saying that it is most likely the Democrats will put party ahead of country–to use Barack Obama’s term levied at Republicans–and decline to open an investigation into Gunrunner.
If I am right and Democrats do decline this request in order to protect Dear Leader and his regime from embarrassment and possibly prosecution it will illustrate how important it is for Darrell Issa to conclude his investigation and hand it over to a special prosecutor before the next election. I believe that Eric Holder is stonewalling this investigation for the purpose of dragging it out past the next election in the hope that the Democrats will win back the House and drop the investigation–or appoint a friendly special prosecutor–and this cannot be allowed to happen.
Debate thoughts: Is Newt Gingrich really running for president?
Having watched Newt Gingrich in several debates now I find myself asking this question: is Newt Gingrich really running for president? I know it seems like an odd question and I do not mean it in a negative way, as I shall try to explain.
In his very first debate Newt Gingrich made a comment about while he thought that it was critical that a Republican beats Barack Obama in 2012 that the goal should be much bigger than this. He mentioned that Republicans also needed to win enough Senate seats to repeal Obamacare, and while he is exactly right about this I found it to be an odd statement coming from someone running for president because he should be focused on his own campaign. He seemed to have a bigger picture in mind, and this led me to start asking the question I wrote above because it appeared as if he was promoting the whole party instead of promoting his own ideas.
Longshoremen destroy private property and hold guards hostage; Jimmy Hoffa must be proud
Just a few short days ago Jimmy Hoffa announced that he was ready become Barack Obama’s army and was ready to wage war on those that disagree with Obama’s policies when he stated it was time to”take the son of a bitches out.”
While he may have been speaking metaphorically we must remember that words have meanings and that some people might not understand the difference between figurative and literal talk. This was the lesson that Barack Obama said America needed to learn after the Arizona shooting. Yet Barack Obama decided not to condemn Jimmy Hoffa’s words, and with his silence appears to condone this type of violent rhetoric that he so vociferously opposed after the Arizona shooting.
Jimmy Hoffa apparently didn’t get the message after the Arizona shooting, and today it looks as if a group of union thugs have taken Jimmy Hoffa’s words to heart. Read more…
New Hampshire Senate overrides “Castle Doctrine” expansion veto; upholds voter ID veto
Earlier today the New Hampshire Senate held a couple of veto override votes; one on an expansion of the “Castle Doctrine” and the other a voter ID bill.
SB88 expands the “Castle Doctrine” and gives New Hampshire residents the right to defend themselves with deadly force not only in their homes but also in any place where that person has a legal right to be. It has been dubbed the “Stand Your Ground” bill and today by a vote of 17-7 the State Senate voted to override Governor Lynch’s veto of SB88.
This bill will now head to the State House for a veto override vote in October; the bill passed the House with a veto-proof majority so it seems very likely as if this bill will soon become law in spite of the governor’s veto.
The Senate also voted on a voter ID bill which would require all residents to show a photo ID before they would be allowed to vote. The Senate failed to gain the votes necessary to override the governor’s veto and this bill is now dead.
Needless to say I feel as if we won one today and we lost one today, but the idea of a Voter ID bill may not be dead yet as there is another bill in the House which may address the issues some Senate Republicans had with the bill which was defeated today.
Here is the issue at hand:
Some Republicans said they support the idea of requiring photo ID from voters, but that they oppose the system of provisional ballots that the House added to their bill. A provisional ballot would have been required of anyone who could not present a valid state or federally-issued photo ID card.
Town clerks said the provisional ballots would force extra work on their offices, with longer hours, additional staff, late counting and less ballot secrecy for voters.
