Slot Machines Coming to New Hampshire?

September 9, 2007

The issue of slot machines coming to New Hampshire appears to be an issue that is coming back for debate.

To be honest with you, I don’t care one way or the other whether slot machines come to New Hampshire or not. I feel as though if people want to throw away their hard earned money on a total game of chance so be it. It’s not my call. I like to throw away a few quarters playing a little poker with my family once in a while. Who knows, maybe I would try it just for a little fun, I doubt it though. Playing poker with your family or friends for short money is as much about bragging rights as maybe winning five dollars, whereas playing slots is just a game of sheer chance in the hope of hitting it big.

As I said, I don’t care one way or the other about the issue of slot machines coming to New Hampshire, but I do have an issue of WHY they want them in New Hampshire. Just read the paragraph below from this New Hampshire Union Leader article.

The idea is nothing new. It’s come up before, and it’s been killed before. This time, some lawmakers think it has a better shot. The state faces a revenue crunch over education funding, and gambling could be an alternative to raising existing taxes on business or property.

The revenue crunch the state is facing is due to the fact that Governor Lynch succumbed to a court ruling that had no legal basis. The court over-reached their bounds in declaring that the state had to fund education, even though it is the local communities who are bound to fund education. Now New Hampshire has passed a bill to fund education, but the governor in his latest budget didn’t bother to figure out the cost of such an education. He raised fees and taxes on everything, and we still haven’t funded education. Now the state needs more money. This was so fiscally irresponsible, I can’t even put it into words. You pass a state funding bill because the court says you have to, even though the state isn’t obligated to fund education according to our state constitution, and then say we will decide the cost later? Now we must pay, but how?

The bottom line here is that the state was under no obligation to fund education, the ruling should have been challenged by a governor with some balls, unfortunatelly we have a governor all to willing to have the state take over education. Now that the state will be funding education the state will be able to control the curriculum, something they have no control over now, and that is the true reason why the governor wants to fund the schools, so he can push his liberal agenda down the throuts of our children.

New Hampshire is headed down the road so many other blue state have traveled. It is being done slowly and doesn’t seem to be apparent to enough New Hampshire voters. We are being conquered from within and need to wake up and spot the Trojan horse of education that is hiding an income and sales tax within.

Court to Hear Hillary Clinton Fundraising Case

September 9, 2007

A California court is going to hear Hillary Clinton’s fundraising scandal case. I know it is hard to keep up with all of Senator Clinton’s campaign violations, but the one going to court here isn’t the latest one involving Norman Hsu, it is this case in which see is seen on video committing felony campaign violations.

Here are a few of the details:

Paul’s legal counsel, the United States Justice Foundation (USJF), filed a brief in July. It said the videotape “captures the very commission of a crime, namely, that of knowingly soliciting, coordinating and accepting federal campaign contributions far in excess of the legal limit of $2,000.”

“We will accomplish what Ken Starr wasn’t able to achieve,” Paul told Cybercast News Service, referring to the independent counsel who investigated several Clinton scandals in the 1990s. “We have three judges reviewing Hillary Clinton’s illegal conduct. Presidential candidates have never been forced to defend themselves in court from being a felon.”

Paul contends that in exchange for producing the fundraising event, President Clinton agreed to work as a rainmaker for the company after leaving the White House. Paul said the former president reneged on the agreement, causing investors to pull their money out of the company.

Paul wants to force the New York senator to testify in the case. Paul spent about $2 million to produce a star-studded August 2000 fundraiser that included Cher, Diana Ross, Brad Pitt, Sugar Ray and other Hollywood celebrities.

After failing to properly report the money raised, the Clinton Senate campaign had to pay a $35,000 fineto the FEC. Clinton’s campaign finance director, David Rosen, was accused of lying to the FEC. He was indicted but eventually acquitted.

“Everything I complained about in 2001, and she denied, was supported in the Rosen trial and the FEC,” Paul said. “Only her direct knowledge continues to be denied, and the tape contradicts that. Hillary’s obstruction is worse than Nixon’s obstruction in Watergate.”

San Francisco to Create ID Cards for Illegals

September 9, 2007

According to this article San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano is ready to draft legislation that will create an ID card for illegal aliens who could otherwise not obtain an ID card because THEY ARE ILLEGAL.

San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano is drafting legislation to create a city identification card for immigrants unable to get traditional ID cards, a move likely to anger advocates of tougher immigration enforcement.

While the anger of the voters during the immigration amnesty bill that Kennedy, McCain, and the president tried to pass on the American people is what brought the bill down, San Francisco decides to move even further left. Of course this is San Francisco we are talking about here, and there is no such thing as too far left.

“There is a large community who contribute, and there are not a lot of safeguards around their (immigration) status, their peace of mind and their ability to participate,” Ammiano said, adding that the card would be available to all people living in San Francisco regardless of their immigration status.

Doesn’t it make you feel good that people who broke into this country illegally will have peace of mind? Does that give you peace of mind? I mean, knowing that the people who come here illegally, steal American’s social security numbers, leach off welfare, rape women and children, murder Americans, drive without a licence or insurance and kill Americans on the streets because they don’t know the rules of the road, and take jobs Americans WOULD DO IF WE ABOLISHED WELFARE, will now be able to have an ID card so they will be ensured all the other benefits, if there are any, that they are not already entitled to?

This is where I have to put in the obligitory ” I know that not all illegal immigrants come to this country and do all those things I mentioned, that some of them come here for a better life” disclaimer. But I just want them to get in line and come here legally. Is that such an unreasonable request? Is it also unreasonable for me to ask the question, ” if they don’t respect the laws governing the manner in wich they come into the country, how can I expect them to respect any other laws of the country?” I don’t think it is an unreasonable request or question.

How does the city justify such an ID card?

Ammiano said the impetus for the city cards came from the immigrant community, which asked for his help. Illegal immigrants who are victims or witnesses of crime often do not report the incident because they have no identification and fear deportation. Identification also is needed for many services, such as city health care.

The illegals asked for help, and the city is all to quick to oblige. They use the excuse that they may witness a crime but are unwilling to report it because of their status as an excuse, but look at that last sentence. They need it for services, including healthcare. Yes, this means FREE helthcare. So while all the Democrat candidates are out there bullshitting you into believing they will provide you with socialized, government supplied healthcare San Francisco is willing to provide it for free to people who don’t belong here. Nothing is free, someone has to pay for it. AND IT IS YOU AND I. We work hard so illegals don’t have to.

Going Away for the Weekend

September 6, 2007

heart_pic9.gif

This weekend the wife and I are going away to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary, without the boys. 😉

I won’t be posting for the next few days.

I want to take this opportunity to say happy anniversary to my best friend, who happens to be my wife. We have been together for so long that I really don’t even remember what it was like before I met her, nor do I want to. All I know for sure is that we were meant to be together and we will always be together. It is too hard for me to put into words my feelings for her, we have been through so much over the years. And I love her dearly.

To sum it up, “you complete me.” 🙂

I will rejoin the blogosphere probably on Monday.

Chuck Schumer’s Comments About our Troops Failing in Iraq

September 6, 2007

“Let me be clear. The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al-Qaeda said to these tribes, “We have to fight Al-Qaeda ourselves.” It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here.”–Chuck Schumer on the Senate Floor

I heard Rush play this comment on his radio show today and was beyond disgust. I had trouble finding the quotes, but found this quote on Conservatism With Heart. This  comment goes beyond hurtful. To say our troops have failed while they are over there fighting is despicable. This man puts his political future, and the future of the Demorat party ahead of the safety of the troops. Not only does he say our troops have failed, he also tries to sell us on the fact that while it seems the surge is working it is just an incredible coincidence that the violence happens to be down since the surge has started.

Democrats are Already Trying to Discredit Petraeus’ Report for fear of Good News

September 6, 2007

Democrats, who have positioned themselves with failure in Iraq, are already beginning spin control just in case the report from General Petraeus has some good news. The sad part about the whole Iraq war political game that the Democrats are playing is the fact that good news in Iraq is bad news for Democrats. That being said they are now linking Petraeus’ report with president Bush in an effort to delegitimize it.

The top Democrats — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California — also referred to the general’s briefing as the “Bush report.”

The Bush report?” Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin said when asked about the upcoming report from Gen. Petraeus, U.S. commander in Iraq.

“We know what is going to be in it. It’s clear. I think the president’s trip over to Iraq makes it very obvious,” the Illinois Democrat said. “I expect the Bush report to say, ‘The surge is working. Let’s have more of the same.’ “

  And:

“We will see what the Bush report will be at the end of next week,” Mrs. Pelosi said. “The facts are self-evident that the progress is not being made. They might want to find one or two places where there has been progress but the plural of anecdote is not data.”

There you have it, the Democrats have dubbed Petraeus’ report as the Bush report. To me this seems very disrespectful to the general that the Democrat controlled congress approved to the job knowing he supported the troop surge.

This strategy was met with sceptism and from Republicans.

Republicans bristled at the pre-emptive strike against the report.

“Are these leaders asking the American people to believe that the testimony of a commanding four-star general in the U.S. Army should be discarded before it’s even delivered?” said Brian Kennedy, spokesman for House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.

“If so, these statements completely ignore what’s truly at stake in this war and suggest that neither the commander in chief nor our chief commander on the ground have any regard for the lives of the men and women fighting for this country,” he said. “It’s appallng, and I think the American people — rightfully — will continue to stick by the decisions of our commanders and troops on the ground when it comes to what is best for their safety and security.”

Here is my feeling on this. If the Democrats really believe that Petraeus’ report is nothing more than the Bush report, and they believe Bush is wrong, CUT OFF FUNDING IMMEDIATELY. If they believe this is nothing but lies and spin and they do nothing, then the blood of our soldiers is on them. Why wait to cut off funding if they think the report if false? If they really believed this they would bring our soldiers home now. The fact is they know that the surge is working, yet they have to oppose it to appease their base. See what appeasement gets you?

The Defining Moment of the Republican Debate in New Hampshire Plus a Quick Analysis

September 5, 2007

To me this exchange was the best of the night during the debate:

The comment came in perhaps the most compelling moment of the Republican debate so far, when the Arkansas Republican directly confronted Texas Rep. Ron Paul on his position for an immediate withdrawal from the country.

“Congressman, whether or not we should have gone to Iraq is a discussion for historians, but we’re there. We bought it because we broke it,” he said. “We’ve got a responsibility to the honor of this country and the honor of every man and woman who has served in Iraq and our military to not leave them with anything less than the honor they deserve.”

Amid loud cheers, Paul responded, “The American people didn’t go in. A few people advising this administration, a small number of people called the neoconservatives, hijacked our foreign policy. They are responsible, not the American people.”

Huckabee quickly fired back: “Congressman, we are one nation. We can’t be divided. We have to be one nation under God. That means if we make a mistake, we make it as a single country.”

As the crowd roared louder, Paul answered, “When we make a mistake, it is the obligation of the people — through their representatives — to correct the mistake, not continue the mistake. We have dug a hole for ourselves and we have dug a hole for our party. We are losing elections, and we are going down next year if we don’t change it.”

Huckabee replied loudly, “Even if we lose elections, we should not lose our honor.”

This was the best moment during the debate, it was the only time the candidates actually confronted each other in an open debate. Other than this exchange the candidate answers seemed much more  scripted, this appeared to be unscripted and unprepared. And it was riviting.

More quick thoughts on the debate:

I thought Romney was a little off his game tonight, he didn’t impress me.

McCain: It doesn’t matter, imigration killed his chances

Rudi: Made some good points on his record in New York, I was unimpressed overall.

Ron Paul: I agree with some of his constitutional points, but he appears to be a 9/11 truther and New World Order/One world government conspiracy theorist, wins points with the internet crowd of the same beliefs.

Tom Tancredo: not enough air time, but I kind of liked what I heard from him.

Duncan Hunter: disclaimer, this is who I will probably vote for in the New Hampshire primary, I thought he performed well tonight, he received more air time than I thought he would and I thought he came off well. He has already started buikding the Mexican wall, and he already has buikt a wall between San Diego and Mexico, a big plus with me.

Huckabee: bitch slapped, can I say that when talking about a preacher, the conspiracy theorist Ron Paul which was the best part of the debate.

All in all these candidates seem so much more educated on the issues than any of the Democrats, who just want to try and out anti-Bush the other candidates. The Rebublican candidates have ideas, and we can chose whose ideas best represent us. The Democrat candidates have no ideas, they continually oppose Bush at every turn. Their whole policy is to wait for Bush to take a stand and then they can all battle for who opposes it the most.

Wake Up America Joins the Grizzly Groundswell

September 5, 2007

I was invited to, and have accepted the invitation to join Grizzly Groundswell as an author. Grizzly Groundswell is a blog owned by Chad, also known as Teddy Bear. The purpose of this site is to bring like-minded conservative bloggers together to form a kind of grassroots internet movement to help spread the word against socialism and to fight for what we believe is right. There are several bloggers who write there, and it is a great place to go to and read articles from people who share many of the same ideals.

I will be submitting some posts that I write here to Grizzly Groundswell, as of right now I don’t have any plans to post anything there that I have not also posted here.

I recommend that everyone check out Grizzly Groundswell as you will find numerous bloggers there who all share the same goal.

House Republicans to Investigate Democrats for Stolen House Vote on Illegal Immigration

September 5, 2007

According to this post on cnsnews.com house Republican have launched their own investigation into a vote that they claim was stolen by Democrats right before the recess. This was a vote that would have barred taxpayer money from being used for benefits for illegal aliens. The issue of barring taxpayer money to support illegals doesn’t appear to be too controversial to me. I don’t want my money going to someone who doesn’t belong here, unfortunetaly Democrats see it differently.

According to House Republican Leader John Boehner, the GOP proposal passed 215-213 on the night of Aug. 2. But Democratic leaders promptly reopened the vote and allowed several Democrats to change their minds.

When Democratic leaders ordered the vote closed for a second time, the Republican motion was defeated — and taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants were restored, Boehner said.

Now, if the Democrats are for the working class as they claim to be, why would they vote to take the middle class worker’s money and give it to ILLEGALS? Because they don’t care about the middle class. When they talk about the rich needing to pay their fair share, they are talking about anyone who has a job. If you work you are rich. How does it feel to be rich? The fact is that the Democrats want to promise illegals the world hoping for the day when the illegals gain voting rights, thus ensuring their vote. The same holds true with everyone eho is collecting welfare, they just promise them more money, foodstamps, free healthcare, and on and on it goes. Someone has to pay for all these benefits, nothing is free, and it is the hard working taxpayers that have to foot the bill for this.

Based on conversations with constituents back home, Republicans apparently believe that the “stolen vote” issue will resonate with voters, and they’ve named a select committee with subpoena power to look into what happened.

The panel, announced on Wednesday, is expected to report its preliminary findings to the House by September 30, 2007, with a final, comprehensive report due by September 15, 2008 — just a few months before the general election.

With all the endless investigations going on in congress by Democrats it is about time we saw the Republicans turn the table on them and fight for something that is truly important. This illegal immigrant issue is one of the issues that should be at the forefront of the presidential election, and I believe it is important for the American people to hear about how the Democrats twarted us hard working, tax paying Americans and are all to willing to give our money away to people who not only don’t have the right to it, they don’t have the right to be here.

Remeber this when you go to the voting booth next November, I know I will.

Muslim School Opens in Brooklyn

September 5, 2007

Yeterday a Muslim school opened in Brooklyn. This would be no problem to me if this was a private school. but it isn’t, it is a public school.

A madrassa is a Muslim school. New York City Schools Chancellor Joe Klein stressed that the KGIA is a secular public school, and he would shut it down if it became a religious school.

How can the school be secular if it is MUSLIM, by definition it is a religious institution. If they are teaching Muslim culture, they are teaching religion. How can we let this happen. We, in this country, are no longer allowed public displays of Christianity on public property, nevermind teaching it in public schools. Yet this group is catered to at every turn.

Parents are trying through the Freedom of Information Act to find out more about the school, because there hasn’t been much information available. Parents began to become nervous when they heard about the following.

Controversy and questions about the religious ties of the school already prompted the resignation of founder and Principal Debbie Almontaser last month.

It was discovered then that she shared office space with an Islamist group that sells T-shirts encouraging New York Muslims to join an “intifada”

The term intifada is most typically associated with the attacks on Israeli Jews by Islamic radicals between 1987 and 1993, in some of the territories gained by the Israelis after the Six Day War in 1967.

What else needs to be said here? Why is it alright to teach this one religion, but no others? I can’t say anything more than I already have, you can read my previous post on this issue here.
