Charles Koch to support Hillary Clinton for President?
If there is one issue the left has been most hypocritical on over the years it is their claim that they are opposed to big money being spent to win elections. The left loves to talk about how Republican special interest groups steal elections from the people while ignoring their own special interest groups, such as unions and Planned Parenthood, which pour money into the elections.
But what draws the ire of the left even more than special interest groups are billionaires such as David and Charles Koch because they donate immense sums of money into the political coffers of Republicans. Of course while they are calling the Koch brothers evil and Satan and any other vile name they can come up with they ignore the political contributions of billionaires like, oh I don’t know, perhaps someone like George Soros. The reason for this is obvious; they are not opposed to big money being spent in politics but rather big money in politics being spent against them. That is why some billionaires get a free pass and others are the devil reincarnate.
Theleft will make the fallacy argument that they have to accept these donations because the Republican do, but that is nothing more than a chicken/egg argument, if they were serious they would attempt to lead the way by example.
And this is why I find this story to be fascinating.
Sunday, April 24th open thread: ‘When Doves Cry’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, April 24th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we discussed 9 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
The music world lost a man who can only be described as a legend and an icon when Prince passed away suddenly earlier this week. Whether you are a Prince fan or not you have to respect and admire the talent this man had. His music transcended all genres–from pop to rock to funk to soul and on and on…
You may be surprised to learn that I am a Prince fan but I have to admit I had to be dragged into it before I finally appreciated his music. When my beautiful wife and I first started dating I had a one track mind when it came to music. Back in the ‘8o’s I was into heavy metal and heavy metal only but my wife was, and still is, a huge Prince fan.
Being the wonderful boyfriend I was 🙂 I took Lauri to see Prince back in the day even though I did not like him at that time. I did not appreciate what I saw on stage that night because I was close-minded in regards to music. However over the years my tastes expanded and I began to understand what Lauri always saw in Prince. Several years ago now we went to see Prince again and he blew us both away. He put on one of the best shows I have ever seen live–it ranks right up there with The Cure, Radiohead, and Muse (Lauri would add the B-52s to that list) as one of the best shows I have ever been to. I can only imagine what Lauri thought of that show…
Prince’s music is so diverse that it cannot be covered in one video alone so I will start with what is probably my favorite Prince song, “When Doves Cry.” This version transitions into “Little Red Corvette.” (Prince’s dancing can get a little erotic so if you are offended by this you might not want to watch this video.)
In that video Prince showed off a little bit of his piano playing and dancing ability and these next two videos he shows off his guitar chops: The first is a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and the second is a mega-band version of “While My Guitar Slowly Weeps.” You will have to wait until the 3:30 to see Prince, he seems to be hiding on the side of the stage until he goes into his solo but it is worth the wait.
Now let’s get funky! Prince became a Christian and he shares his Faith a little bit in the lyrics of this catchy number.
The doves are crying, RIP Prince.

Hillary Clinton’s IT guru will not testify before the Congress despite being granted immunity
It looks like the man who set up and maintained the personal email server used by Hillary Clinton for all of her official State Department business has chosen life over death–if you catch my drift. Back in March the Department of Injustice granted Bryan Pagliano immunity in regards to the investigation into the still-simmering scandal after he invoked his Fifth Amendment right rather than testify before the Congress the first time he was asked.
According to this story Bryan Pagliano’s lawyer has informed the Congress that despite having been granted immunity he is still not going to talk. Here is more:
According to this story there is a new little twist into the investigation into Benghazi and Hillary Clinton’s email scandal: after receiving a subpoena from the Congress to turn over all Benghazi related files the State Department instead “mistakenly” transferred some files from Hillary Clinton’s office to another government department where they were not “rediscovered” for a year.
Here is more:
State Department officials removed files from the secretary’s office related to the Benghazi attack in Libya and transferred them to another department after receiving a congressional subpoena last spring, delaying the release of the records to Congress for over a year.
Attorneys for the State Department said the electronic folders, which contain hundreds of documents related to the Benghazi attack and Libya, were belatedly rediscovered at the end of last year.
They said the files had been overlooked by State Department officials because the executive secretary’s office transferred them to another department and flagged them for archiving last April, shortly after receiving a subpoena from the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
The new source of documents includes electronic folders used by senior officials under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. They were originally kept in the executive secretary’s office, which handles communication and coordination between the secretary of state’s office and other department bureaus.
What a remarkable coincidence! I am sure this was just a mistake, it could happen to anyone, right? Who are we to judge?
In the wake of the New York primary results it is apparent that Donald Trump now believes he will win the 1,237 delegates necessary to avoid a brokered convention and it appears to me that he is beginning to tweak his message. In one day Donald Trump declared he was for raising taxes on the rich, that he hoped to change the Republican platform on abortion, and came out against the North Carolina “bathroom law.” These stories were all reported on The Right Scoop.
Those do not seem like conservative ideas to me but then again Donald Trump is not, nor has he ever been, a conservative. Now one of his aides has come out with a statement which should have all of the billionaire businessman’s supporters wondering if he really is who he is claiming to be.
Here is more:
Is the Republican establishment going to change the convention rules to give John Kasich a shot?
John Kasich is staying in the Republican primary although he has no shot of being awarded enough delegates before the convention to secure the nomination. He still has fewer delegates than Marco Rubio and how long ago did he drop out of the race?
So why is he staying in the race? It is clear to me that he is in the race to stop both Ted Cruz and Donald Trump from reaching the 1,237 mark and I have been of the belief that he has struck some sort of deal with the Republican establishment.
Back at the beginning of April John Kasich predicted a brokered convention which would “be so much fun” and he went on to claim he would win the nomination at this point even though very few people have voted for him. I speculated at that time that it sounded like John Kasich and the Republican establishment had reached some type of quid pro quo agreement if he were to stay in the race and usher in a brokered convention.
Well, the polls in New York closed two minutes ago and CNN has already projected Donald Trump to be the winner. It is not surprising that Donald Trump won this contest however with the race being called this early it looks as if it is going to be a resounding victory. With 1% of the vote in Donald Trump is hovering around 70% support in the state and I believe that while the number might come down some it will basically hold true, but we will have to wait and see exactly how big of a win this is. John Kasich is in second, about 6 points ahead of Ted Cruz.
Donald Trump is now poised to go on a winning streak and Ted Cruz will have to hope to hold on until the contests move out west, where he is expected to do better.
As I write this Hillary Clinton has a big lead over Bernie Sanders–with 2% of the votes in she is leading by about 60-40%–and unless the Senator from Vermont is able to pull off an upset this could be the end for the self-avowed socialist whether he realizes it or not.
ZoNation: ‘Hillary Clinton is an Agent of Oppression’
Recently Hillary Clinton made a statement along the lines of an unborn person does not have Constitutional rights. (Yes she did call the unborn a person and this drew the ire of the left.) In the latest ZoNation video entitled “Hillary Clinton is an Agent of Oppression” Zo takes on Hillary Clinton for this statement and he does it brilliantly.
Zo looks to the Declaration of Independence to make his point: the Declaration of Independence clearly states that all men are CREATED equal so if the unborn is a person, as Hillary Clinton admitted it is, then that means he or she has Constitutional rights. This is an argument which I had not heard before but when you watch the video you will see how true, and shall I say simple, the argument really is.

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
New York Congressman Peter King is no fan of Ted Cruz but just in case people were not aware of the depth of his dislike for the Texas Senator he made it abundantly clear today on MSNBC. Here is part of what he had to say:
“I hate Ted Cruz, and I think I’ll take cyanide if he ever got the nomination,”
And it goes without saying he is not a fan of his home state compatriot either so it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out who he voted for.
“Now, having said that, I think you’re going to see Donald Trump scoring a big victory tonight. I have not endorsed Donald Trump. In fact, I actually voted by absentee ballot for John Kasich.”
Hillary Clinton’s connections to the Panama Papers exposed
A couple of weeks ago the Panama Papers, which show how wealthy people are allowed to hide some of their assets, were made public. The timing of this release during an election year was quite interesting and seemed to be planned as Hillary Clinton quickly jumped all over the issue saying that the papers showed “outrageous tax havens and loopholes that super-rich people across the world are exploiting.” And not to be outdone Barack Obama called for international tax reform in the wake of the release, while Bernie Sanders used this as an I told you so moment.
This seemed like a ready-made issue for the Democrats in an election year which is based on a divide and conquer strategy and naturally I was skeptical and immediately thought these papers were released at this time for political reasons. However we have not heard much about this issue since the initial release of the papers and, if this story is true, we may now know the reason why.
It turns out that while the former Secretary of State and her husband have not been directly linked to the tax havens for the super rich many of their close associates have been. Here is more:
